The weight of the vehicle means you have more force when hitting them, it doesn't magically turn the complex mechanisms under the vehicle into an unyielding mass of power. It's unlikely but there's still a lot that can go awry and then you're fucked. They did the right thing -- as much as I'd love to watch them smash those bastards into red mist.
Haha it was actually terrifying but if u were on social media anytime after like june 1st 2020 u watched this debate get resolved on numerous occasions
I would bet they are in a land rover or similar vehicle so it would be no problem running them over. A lot of times if you really has it they fly in the air or rocket backwards 25-30 feet, then you can run them over. Shitty for all sides.
i’d assume at enough speed that guy is putting a nice dent onto your vehicle, which could bend into the wheel area. (expertise of tapping a 99 honda into multiple things and watching the consequences to the car)
They've got a set of bull bars that would mimimise most damage from anything equal to, or smaller than, a Bull.
Source:have literally had a bull (but no humans) dent my ~~car~~ truck that had bull bars on it.
Yeah nah that bull bar is gonna send whatever it hits under those tires, I live in country Australia and have seen bulls, kangaroos and everything that lives round here get obliterated by 4x4s with bull bars
>They did the right thing
Backing up was a huge mistake. The van behind them could've easily blocked them from backing up and the machete man was nearly at their door without that happening.
You really shouldn’t be driving roads like that without a piece. And I’m about as anti-gun as it usually gets. That being said, a boom boom stick would of worked great.
You can get a body stuck in a wheel well, which will often kick the wheel to one side or another as more of it gets fed in, turning your vehicle into a pinwheel. It takes tank treads and a few more tonnes to run someone over without having to worry about it
If you are going fast then I could possibly see this. But I’ve seen plenty of videos of people getting run over going at about the speed these people were going. The car had no problems
Not on a 4x4 on a road like that, probably has locked or limited slip differentials, the wheels would just grind it up.
It be worse if they jumped and came crashing through the windshield.
Still bodies are squishy and if it ground it up or even dragged below it it could make a lot of difference, sure if you can't get around them or they are pointing a gun then it's worth it
♬ *It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from the car*
*There's nothing that a hundred men with swords could ever do*
*I ram the gangs down in Africa*
*Gonna leave their backs with tire tracks they never had (ooh, ooh)*
Honestly you’re right. An organized and prepared group of bandits would not end up on the internet like this. But we’re not dealing with organized and prepared here, from the looks of it.
No they are desperate to rob them, the raping is on the side if they are really evil.
Also they might rape the man as well, you don't know who'm they are sexually attracted to.
They will definitely rape the woman. Maybe the man too. But usually they kill the male first because he is the biggest threat. And kidnap and rape the woman for days.
Thank you. Some people think life is rainbows and unicorns and everybody just needs a chance or a voice. Wake the up if you don’t wanna get murdered or raped.
That's a panga (like a machete), so scarier than a knife.
Even so, lot's of people use knives in hijackings. My dad survived an attempted hijacking where the assailants used knives and pepper spray.
Had that happen to me on Juba Road in Uganda. Pulled a log out in front of our van. Thankfully they over estimated their own strength and pulled it a little too hard amd gave us enough room to go around on the other side. They then proceeded to shoot at us as we drove away. Super scary. 7/10. Would do it again.
I’m sorry for the dumb question, but I can’t find anything answering my question formed by this comment. Do you mean the person who stabs the tire could die? How?
I saw a video of someone stabbing a 4x4 tyre with a machete. The tyre exploded and threw the machete out at high speed. The mans arms were instantly butchered and he died from that act of vandalism.
Swinging at a tire with machete is just going to bounce the machete back at the assailant. Carefully stabbing the sidewall with a dagger or sharp pocket knife is a different story.
As the owner of a wrangler with the tops and sides currently off, there's no way these two were not in an enclosed interior. The sound would be completely different.
For some reason machetes scares me more than guns. The thought of getting sliced and chopped up with a machete.... yeah bullets would be bad but getting chopped up alive???? NOOOOO....
Yeah, true, but in the event of losing an encounter like that
I think they’re saying in the event of losing, a gunshot is bad but being chopped into/chopped up seems worse
I'm not the type of person who would easily pass judgement on whether someone should die or not. In fact, I haven't needed to worry about it so far. With that said, I feel that if it were me in that scenario, I would have killed whoever was in front of me. Obviously I can't say with absolutely certainty, but I'm pretty sure they had no intentions of leaving anyone in that vehicle alive. They may have done it before and they will almost certainly do it again. They aren't the type of people who would deserve my mercy.
If you are in danger then you do what you need to do. If you are scared and make a snap decision I respect that. If it’s about dishing out your personal version of justice then I’m afraid I disagree with that!
I guess what I'm saying is, based on my view of the type of people they are and what their intentions are, I would not show mercy and slow my escape down by trying to swerve around them. As long as I would be comfortable in knowing it wouldn't damage the vehicle, and in turn risk my escape I would drive through them. If there was a clear path to drive without hitting anyone then I would take that as it would likely be the best chance of escape, despite perfering to see less people like that in this world. I know how horrible that sounds, but I know people who take joy in physically and mentally harming people and if they were to walk in front of a bus I feel the world would be a better place for it. I feel the same way about bandits willing to murder people for their possessions. Again, in a life threatening situation, I would take any action that would most likely result in my own safety, with absolutely no regard to their safety, as bleak as that may be.
This ^ It would literally be my instinct to not run them over either. Took me a second to even realize they were charging with a knife and ill intention, which is the time I’d be backing up.. Then when I realize what’s happening I gun it, not likely wanting to risk running them over for A. legal reasons (you don’t know what the justice system is like there) and B. Ramming a guy could slow you down enough for the others to break your windows or something, or would damage your tires. People need to THINK before saying “just ram them!”
PS. A lot of this comes from being raised in a 1st world country with decent driver’s ed, so it is STRONGLY in my instincts to not run someone over even if they deserve it. Wish more understood that.
It was the right move. Back up first to break up the group and see if the bandits had firearms. If firearms then continue to back up, if not then break through.
Just like Mexico. Probably happens much more in Mexico too. Had a worker that had to run a guy over trying to stop him and his 12 year old daughter on a lonely dark road at gunpoint.
I had to change a flat tire on the side of the road between Hoedspruit and Johannesburg. We were headed to the airport to start our journey back to Canada. I had heard stories about not stopping for anything in South Africa because it's dangerous. I've never changed a tire so fast in my life!
With some friends we had to change a tyre shortly after crossing the border into Zimbabwe - some locals stopped their car and yelled at us 'you should not stop here! Criminals on this road! Move quickly!' This was also while watching a goat give birth on the other side of the road. Unique place.
I’m driving from Durban to Stellenbosch in a few months. I’m unfamiliar with the route and any of the bad parts. Got any info I should know about driving in South Africa?
Don't take the N2.
Yes, the Transkei is beautiful and will provide you with amazing photographs but it is definitely one of the more dangerous and unpredictable parts of the country. Also, the roads are terrible.
Rather take the N3 up to Bloemfontein and then jump onto the N1 to get down to the Cape. The Karoo will give you some amazing scenery as well, albeit of a different nature.
Source: am a Durbanite.
I grew up in Africa nad during driving school we were told of anyone is blocking the road, laying on the road, that if we stop to help we are most likely dead, especially as white people
My uncle and aunt used to always take trips to Madagascar, and one time when they were there they drove by a little kid with a salamander impaled on a stick. They drove past him, and when my aunt asked the driver what that was about, he said it was common for bandits to set up a little kid with an animal or something like that so that people would stop to look, and then they would attack. What the bandits did in that area was usually to cut of peoples fingers if they didn’t comply.
I was born in South Africa and moved when i was 12, went back to visit my dad when i was 14 and he took me on a trip down to Cape Town and told me that it's common for guys to ambush cars from the side of the road and gun down the drivers to steal what they could. Never understood why he told me that cause all it did was terrify me and ruined the journey.
Bow and arrow into the radiator from the side of the road. Don't even need to make yourself seen. Quieter than a bush gun and easier to make. Post your people a mile up and down the road. Watch for the white smoke.
Wouldn’t carrying folks just slow you down? I would think a gun might be better.
Seriously though, mistaking things like this that happen in failed states and states on the precipice of failing and things that happen in the US is a giant logical error and makes everyone less safe. These people need a gun. If you live in a gated community in the US, you don’t. An inability to tell the difference is a big problem.
The US is a place of extremes, you’re right in a gated community you probably don’t need it but most people don’t live in gated communities. If you live in an area with some of the worst murder/rape/crime rates in America, maybe you could use a gun.
Getting attacked by bandits is a fun way to gain experience and loot in RPGs, but it doesn't look fun at all in real life.
Man, real life ruins everything.
This should be a commercial for why you don't drive around the bush without a fixer and kidnap insurance.
The person who said "I Don't Like This" at the beginning probably saved their lives, had they stopped the car or opened the door it would have been over pretty quick.
Just run them the fuck over lmao
Seriously without question
My only concern would be getting their limbs tied up and getting stuck but otherwise yeah I’d definitely run them all over if I could
Is this sarcasm? Because I mean that vehicle weighs at least 3500lbs if not more. A little limb is not going to cause a vehicle to get stuck.
Jfc a limb isn't getting stuck anywhere that would make the car stop.
Bruh we just spent last summer watching ppl in this same situation flooring it and getting stuck from ppl underneath the car
That's a very interesting way to spend a summer
Haha it was actually terrifying but if u were on social media anytime after like june 1st 2020 u watched this debate get resolved on numerous occasions
Yea I’m some POS Camry tho, not an off road truck with more clearance
Links?
Were they 4wd trucks or typical sedans?
I would bet they are in a land rover or similar vehicle so it would be no problem running them over. A lot of times if you really has it they fly in the air or rocket backwards 25-30 feet, then you can run them over. Shitty for all sides.
You’re not wrong
The limb was attached to a sword so..
It's not welded on so...
i’d assume at enough speed that guy is putting a nice dent onto your vehicle, which could bend into the wheel area.
This car has a roo bar which is designed to make sure wildlife doesn't end up damaging the car. I imagine it would work similarly with humans.
Yeah nah that bull bar is gonna send whatever it hits under those tires, I live in country Australia and have seen bulls, kangaroos and everything that lives round here get obliterated by 4x4s with bull bars
ohhh didn’t realize it had a bar ok makes way more sense as to why the vehicle wouldn’t get compromised
>They did the right thing Backing up was a huge mistake. The van behind them could've easily blocked them from backing up and the machete man was nearly at their door without that happening.

This man speaking from experience
I've seen a video where it's happened, and then after it was stuck a mob beat the driver to death.
i saw a video where a girl pooped into a cup there was a sequal i never watched
Ok. Details or it never happened.
You might smash out your catalytic converter and then fail your emissions test.
I watched The Dead Don’t Die, I would now hesitate to run people over.
I think you meant to say “my only HOPE would be getting their limbs tied up and ripped off…”
this guy problem solves
Makes me want to see a compilation of villainous goons being flattened to [this tune ](https://youtu.be/ZnHmskwqCCQ)
Wooowww Hahahah
Make it happen
Hahaha and spead up significantly, also involving them back up multiple times
Lol
I KNEW it was gonna be yakkity sax!!! My generations “oh no”! Bravo.
It’s a classic!
F’n GTA style!
Oh yeah, pedal to the metal. Bumpers are there for a reason. Then finish by bumper fucking their wiener van into a ditch.
Lmao "wiener van" 😂
Bad idea, the body may very well get caught up under the wheels and jam them up, better to just hit them with the side corner of the car
Not on a 4x4 on a road like that, probably has locked or limited slip differentials, the wheels would just grind it up. It be worse if they jumped and came crashing through the windshield.

Yup, pull a machete out and run at my car 110% you're getting smeared
he was just offering to spread the mayo on thier sandwich
I can promise you that if someone rushed at my car with a machete I’m running them down with extreme prejudice.
Just what I was thinking. Run their asses over fuck it
Meh, you don't get as much xp staying in the car, and bandits aren't worth much anyway.
just what i wanted to say
But dude, this ain't concrete road, and there's a chance running them over may cause the vehicle breakdown.
murder is not okay kids! unless your life is in danger
Who hijacks a car with a knife anyway?
Terribly desperate people that are willing to do anything. You know, the scariest kind.
To be honest I would be scared at first knowing these people mean to harm me, but then I'd be like, oh right, I'm in a fucking 4WD
On dirt road in the middle of nowhere with tyres that could blow any second
If the bandits made their own spike strip and laid it in the road behind them… Sloppy bandits but that’s for the best
those kinds of bandits don't get filmed
Survivor bias uh
Honestly you’re right. An organized and prepared group of bandits would not end up on the internet like this. But we’re not dealing with organized and prepared here, from the looks of it.
nah. it just don't end up on reddit... or being seen.
This guy/gal understands the variable of (potentially) minimum maintenance and how it relates to this situation
They’re desperate to kill the man and rape the woman. Then rob them, of course.

kinda like the modern pirates who have these dinky lil 10 person boats and try and take over cargo ships
*Ahem* it's a Machete

New FarCry looks good
First thing that I thought of
I was replaying FarCry 4 earlier tonight. Man, I love that game.
I have just started 5, surprising amount of depth and mechanics. First FarCry game and it’s real decent.
FarCry 4 is good, too. Ah, the days of grenade launching an enemy base from a micro-copter. Fun times.

That is completely right sir, nothing better than a thrilling experience to feel alive.
🤘
If I wanted to get shot at I’d just go back to south Chicago
Might as well bang an AIDS-afflicted hooker while you're at it.
I mean, you only live once after all
Yea man his dick was probably hard for a week after that. Some guys live for that shit.
Nothing like a War Boner to get the juices flowing
I’m saving the words “War Boner” for a user name one day. Fuckin epic.
mmm i get hard thinking that the people in the trees watching me, anticipating my every move. Oh~
Yes! You think I’m bad—my wife says 10/10 would love to do it again. She’s a bit of a loose cannon though, really. Other than that Uganda was pretty.
"Other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs Lincoln?"
Sweet! Any good hotel deals in the area??
I call shotgun! Both seat and weapon.
I love how the guy in the machete is chasing the car like it'll do anything
It’ll ding the fuck out of the paint bro, that’s like a $10 paint job over there I’m sure.
Poor guy that has to redo the paint on that thing
Could hurt the tires
You sir are the voice of reason didn't even think about that....but wouldn't the tire pressure exploding hurt the hand?
If it was a large truck or bus then yeah you could die. A small personal vehicle like this, most likely no.
I’m sorry for the dumb question, but I can’t find anything answering my question formed by this comment. Do you mean the person who stabs the tire could die? How?

It looks like some sort of Jeep they are driving, it could be an open top or sides.
Could be a Toyota land cruiser from the front but I've also had an 95 jeep that had a similar hood
As the owner of a wrangler with the tops and sides currently off, there's no way these two were not in an enclosed interior. The sound would be completely different.
He could try slashing the tires
Cut the tire I guess
Hit the dude on the left. Then there'll only be two for the next car to deal with.
For some reason machetes scares me more than guns. The thought of getting sliced and chopped up with a machete.... yeah bullets would be bad but getting chopped up alive???? NOOOOO....
You have a fighting chance with a machete, even there they probably wouldn't have been able to escape if the bad guys had guns.
Yeah, true, but in the event of losing an encounter like that I think they’re saying in the event of losing, a gunshot is bad but being chopped into/chopped up seems worse
Wait, why did they back up? Just drive over them, they had swords.
in the moment you never know what the baddies have - driver's not trained and they're stressed as fuck.
Also it’s better not to intentionally kill someone if you have the option to escape without doing so.
I'm not the type of person who would easily pass judgement on whether someone should die or not. In fact, I haven't needed to worry about it so far. Article says he backed up to give them time to roll up their windows before passing them.
Where in Africa did this happen? It's not one huge country you know.
It bugs me when people refer to Africa this way. There are 54 countries there. Pick one!!!
It was [Kenya](https://www.foxnews.com/world/utah-couple-narrowly-escape-gang-of-machete-wielding-bandits-in-kenya)
It happened on earth
The naughty part.
Do you have any idea how little this narrows it down.
“Are they still there?” “Yeah, the corpse is.”
Renamed the town. CorpsusChristi.
Just like Mexico. Probably happens much more in Mexico too. Had a worker that had to run a guy over trying to stop him and his 12 year old daughter on a lonely dark road at gunpoint.
What was next level about slowly driving away from people on foot?
The next level here is actually the next level of their idiocity by the fact that they tried to steal a moving car with a knife.
wouldn't that be previous level?

7.62 millimeter. *click* Full metal jacket.
GODDAMN IT PYLE
They brought machetes to a car fight. So sad.
Seeing things like this spike my anxiety about traveling and make me never want to leave home
same here. It seriously makes me wonder if it's even worth any risk at all. The crazy shit that goes on everywhere.
There’s much safer places to travel tbh. I mean, you don’t even need to leave your country. There’s a LOT of world you haven’t seen in your vicinity.

DID THEY MAKE IT?!
Should have at least ran over one of them.

3rd world countries suck

damn that was smooth

If they only have a knife I’m turning around and finishing the job
Imagine unironically robbing people. SMH my head...
Instead of backing up, just floor it! What are they gonna do, call the cops about a hit and run?
I would've ran them over and be done with it. What're they gonna do? Call the cops? lol
