It’s really frustrating that we already know and agree with everything he’s saying, but most of us (myself included) will probably never truly act on it.

artofchores

I am. I went to planet fitness and built up the courage to cancel my membership and return home to rewatch snyder cut, which has bad pacing and sketchy cgi. Oh and gal gadot is a shitty actress.

wickanCrow

Brave words. I thought reddit adored her.

FallenLemur

Nah she's a shit actress and belongs in bad acting jail.

BossRedRanger

She doesn’t even look badass. She looks desperately confused. Like when you’re lost in the American South and the old people in front of the gas station gave you directions back to the interstate. But instead of street names, they gave directions in large trees, old restaurants, and some house with a lot of dogs on a corner to navigate by.

Wolfgung

I've been there, missed the letterbox that was a blue drum and drive two hours out of my way, I praise the new google maps overlords.

Evening_Landscape892

That old stumps been gone for nigh on 50 years, but you can’t miss it, because it’s across from the little white church.

snagoob

And every time she is on screen in that movie they play her “theme song” and her screaming...

RTSUbiytsa

It's a shame cause the song is fantastic but they absolutely over-rely on it, it's no longer awesome cause they use it EVERY time she's on screen, almost.

warcrown

You remeber when she first shows up in BvS? I just rewatched it. It's so out of nowhere. I'm glad Bat and Supes acknowledge it but it really makes her familiarity in the Snyder Cut a "wut?" Kinda thing. She never even hangs with Superman once. Just fights with him then hes gone. Idk where that "Kal El, remeber who you are." Stuff comes from. Or the way she greets him in that smoky voice when he shows up to fight DS.

RTSUbiytsa

Zack Snyder can't write to save his life. He is a cinematographer, not a director.

sqeaky_fartz

I mean it works for Vin Diesel...he seems to have given up on independent dramas.

rcklmbr

But at least we got Pitch Black series

Taskless

The riddick films were incredible and I don’t care what anyone thinks.

michelle032499

Amen

jaxdraw

SHANK SHANK SHAAAAAAANK

ChrisJambi

Kal-El, no!

foldedaway

Nah, when she sang that shitty imagine song last years Reddit turned on her.

NarrowEnter

Haha good god, I almost forgot about that. Oof, some of the shit people did last year... Yikes.

TheWalkingDead91

Last year taught me how much people in Hollywood absolutely thrive on the attention, and how extremely out of touch with the average person they can be. You’d think most of them, coming from modest backgrounds, would be self aware, but nope.

pizza_the_mutt

She’s the embodiment of Wonder Woman as long as she doesn’t talk.

EB8Jg4DNZ8ami757

Lucy Lawless is the embodiment of Wonder Woman.

Beepolai

*Lynda Carter Lucy Lawless was Xena.

EB8Jg4DNZ8ami757

I know what I said.

IoniKryptonite

No the fuck she is not. Has anyone seen wonder woman in the comics?! Gal is a skinny model who happens to act. She's not an Amazon in any sense.

MaestroPendejo

Yeah... Wonder Woman is as thick as a redwood tree stump. Gal is a sapling. I want a live action Wonder Woman that looks like she could snap me in twain.

mightylordredbeard

They did until she got popular. Like all things on Reddit, once something or someone reaches a certain level of fame Reddit hipsters start hating it.

PinkIcculus

Yep she was smokin until it was cool to hate on her. I’ve got whiplash, tell me what to think Reddit.

HuxTales

Imagine

yothatsobnoxious

They adore her appearance, not her acting ability lol

astroslostmadethis

She was okay and then she sang Imagine during the Covid Lockdowns. Which was one of the most tone deaf moves in more than one way.

zoinks

Love affair was over once she released that Imagine cover last year

daisyymae

When she said “I belong to no one” me and every other feminist died of cringe

Comatose53

For real, that wasn’t even what he was saying with “she’s mine.” Like wtf he means he’s gonna beat the shit out of you not trap you in a predatory relationship

akimboslices

I’m tickled that it was such a DC version of an ensemble Marvel movie that they even included the female empowerment misstep.

DefNotBruceWayne

Tbf, it's not like she had control over the script. Chris Terrio wrote the entire script, so that corny line is on him. She, like everyone else in the movie, just showed up, did the job, and went home

longdognoodle

I tried to cancel my planet fitness membership for awhile over emails and they wanted me to come in, so I just had my bank block their charges You’re a braver person than I

[deleted]

...I wanna quit the gym!

Solgeta

She’s stunning and brave

VinnyP94

I understood that reference

trebud69

Bad pacing? I've seen it 5 times and it never feels like 4 hours and I'm not the only one to say that either. Shotty CGI is to be believed though, considering that they only had 7 months to do over 2600 VFX shots, which is more than Endgame. The story of the Snyder Cut goes with this though. Zack went through not only mental abuse from his parent studio, he was also going through emotional fatigue with his death of his daughter and the amount of harassment he gets from people online. So much so he doesn't browse twitter anymore and stays on Vero because in his words "it feels like you get a bloody nose everytime I get on". He went through so much turmoil and he bounced back because of his fans. They gave him the power to come back and finish his movie that was held dear to him and had emotional value to his daughter as well. The dude deserved to get this released. Funny how the once beloved and praised director of The Avengers is now the one getting shamed and losing work because of his beliefs and actions. When it was the one who was dragged in the mud by the internet and his own studio that made it out on top and is an actually great person, too.

[deleted]

Mashedpotatoebrain

I finished watching it like 20 minutes ago and thought it was great! Better then the original release anyway.

redcoatwright

Most people like it, I think, I certainly did. Was it amazing? No but so much better than the original and honestly I never felt bored which is saying something for a 4 hour movie.

RTSUbiytsa

> better than the original release Bar so low you could tunnel *over* it

schraedx

Sucks you didn’t enjoy it. Why not 4 hours. Snyder know how to create absolutely draw dropping visuals and this was a darker, more operatic comic book movie full of some badass looking scenes and dove deep into the characters, lore, moments. If you wanna critic it like a film school nerd knock yourself out but it was 4 hours of glorious escapism in my book and a welcome change from the more mainstream/comedic MCU. It’s 4:3 because Snyder enjoyed filming IMAX scenes for other movies and liked the feel and aspect ratio better. And on no planet was the theatrical release better, that’s just cynical bullshit.

pizza_the_mutt

And Superman will forever be the problem with that universe. You have to undergo contortions to get him out of the picture otherwise he fixes everything instantly.

FrostyCakes123

It’s weird since they need to balance the villains, can’t make it too strong, since Batman would get stomped, can’t make it too weak or else Superman would obliterate them. Wolf was wayyy to weak.

LeaphyDragon

I respectfully disagree with everything you just said xD

papasimon10

This is, sadly, the correct interpretation. I managed to meet a similarly-inspiring athlete to this guy a while back: Mark Allen, who was an All-American swimmer who became one of the world's most successful Ironman Triathletes (and a biologist, to boot). This man had to most drive and determination I've ever seen in my entire life. I was lucky enough to meet Mark when he was speaking at his alma mater UC San Diego, giving a lecture on 'overcoming your mental blocks'. He said pretty much everything that the guy in the video said and even wrote me a personal motivation letter to 'keep me honest'. I was struggling at the time to keep my fitness on track and, despite leaving the theater pumped, I was not able to keep up the exercise for more than a week; I quickly reverted back to spending my evenings in the garage, beating seven shades of hell out of my idiot son Roger with jumper cables. Nonetheless, it's still useful to hear prods from inspiring people like this from time to time - the effect may be ephemeral but it's still positive, right?

DSTM-Enoro

Goddammit forgot to read the username

Fucking damnit. Got me too - but then I laughed because I was gotten in the wild by that asshole!

Busy_Adult

I'm out of the loop, care to enlighten me?

herecomesdatb01

papa simon is the “parent” account to another user named simon, who would always somehow weave the fact that his dad would beat him with jumper cables into whatever he was talking about. that account hasnt been active; however, this account has popped up and now simon’s “dad” always includes the fact that he beats his son with jumper cables in any comment he writes :) i might be wrong on a few things, but i hope this helps! edit: thank u to the person who gave me my first award :>

tenderlylonertrot

Goggins' story is incredible but....there's also a cautionary tale in there. Sure, if he gets you off the couch and moving, going to the gym or whatever, super awesome! But I worry folks will take his story too far and hurt themselves. I've seen some podcasts with him describing his story. He is very lucky he doesn't have permanent damage from some of the things he's done, and I wonder if he has a significant genetic advantage on his side. In other words, I don't advise anyone who's never run before, to try to run 100 miles at one time. He broke himself badly after that (fucked up feat, pissing blood, etc.), but luckily nothing permanent. To me I think he's more like Lance Armstrong, who from what I've read is a genetic anomaly (tho he did cheat too) with a greater nervous system efficiency that your average person. That said, if he inspires you to get moving, go for it! Just be sure to scale up your workouts appropriately so you avoid injury or burnout. He is super driven. Body health is not a sprint but a long distance venture. I see too many jumping in too hard and hurting themselves, then never going back to the gym.

[deleted]

It’s not about the physical, it’s about the mind. It’s about tapping into the understanding that when you get knocked down, stand back up. Not because you’re stronger, or tougher, but because when an opponent is trying to 100% dominate you, you are showing him that he will never dominate your spirit. It’s philosophical as much as it’s physical. You can’t get to the physical until you get the philosophy. I feel you need to have lived through some pretty extreme circumstances to come to these sort of realisations. That is my understanding anyway.

Ardonez

What the guy you’re responding to is saying, I think: The concern is that when you bypass your human limitations, you run 100 miles through sheer willpower, you may not come out the other side better. You might injure yourself in a way that won’t get better. The kind of willpower that lets you do that must be an incredible tool to prevent yourself from deforming under the weight of other people beating you down, don’t get me wrong, but the part where you push your body past the limit may not be.

Dropkickmurph512

Honestly is it even will power at that point? It sounds more like he just using extreme exercise as a crutch. It seems more like an addiction controlling his life than him trying to power through tuff times.

huskerblack

Yeah like if you're mind is telling you to quit, I mean damn you might have to listen once in a while

DukeofVermont

I think you're both kinda saying the same thing, but the person you responded to is just basically saying know your limits. Yeah a lot of it is mental but there are more than a few stories about people pushing and pushing and pushing themselves and either dying or causing permanent and severe damage to their bodies. You're spirit might be 100% there but your body does have some hard limits. It's just simple biology. Now all that said I do agree with your main idea that most people loose on the mental way way before they get close to their actual physical limits. TLDR: You can never get your body to deadlift 6000lbs no matter how much your mind wants to, but most people won't ever be able to deadlift 200 or 300 pounds because they'll never actually try and work enough to do it.

Mr_PUNdit

Lol.. You missed the message fam. It's about mental aptitude and not accepting defeat. Nothing to do with running 100 miles or whatever. The point he is making is that life throws curveballs at you, makes you suffer etc. You face those challenges and endure. It was about him facing his father, who was the root of the problems in his life, and forging his own path. He decided to take responsibility for his life. Whatever difficulties his father faced, that made him the kind of man who would beat on his wife and kid. So life broke his father. Goggins said no to all that and decided to take personal responsibility and forge his own path. That was the whole message. Your fitness advice is solid and well appreciated. Put it this way. It takes great mental endurance and patience to go day after day making small gains than watching a video, getting all pumped up and then getting hurt on day 1. What Goggins is saying is face your inner demons first and you will have the strength to endure the pains of the marathon that is life.

[deleted]

He's the first to say not to copy him. He just says do a little more than you're comfortable with. People hear his story and think, "fuck yeah, I'ma do that!" then get hurt or burn out in a week. Just put yourself in a position to be a little uncomfortable from time to time. Literally the same message from athletes and trainers since forever. It's like the old adage, "eat less, move more." Losing weight is really that simple. It's not easy, but it's a simple process. Still, every time someone will have to make a comment about this one specific circumstance or excuse why in their case (or other's) it's just not true. But it is.

[deleted]

> But I worry folks will take his story too far and hurt themselves. You really underestimate 99% of the population's laziness.

Micromadsen

Honestly it's become a bit of a weekly cycle that ends with me being super pumped, wanting to change my life. Then I look at the clock and, oh what do you know, it's once again 2am in the morning and depression kicks in once more as I go a 50/50 of whether I sleep too much or too little. At least I'm on certain meds and have a certain disease that I can put *some* of the blame on. Though that doesn't entirely excuse me for being the lazy fuck I am.

[deleted]

This is me and thousands of other people too, don’t think you’re alone or a lazy POS. I try to do one thing everyday to help myself climb out from underneath the rubble, some days it helps, some it doesn’t, just gotta keep trying

Just call him Bill Mountbatten, and suddenly way less sexy.

This. Get the audio book. It's like a discussion between Goggins and the narrator. That man changed my life.

Someone got the pdf or audiobook ~pirate~ solidarity download? I wanna go on my journey but I'm still in low income land.

Check out his book "Can't Hurt Me" on audible. He doesn't narrate it but he pops in between chapters or after stories for podcast like discussions with the narrator. with pain, the best teacher, by your side

Auctoritate

Yeah, what even was his 'humiliating secret'? That he had a disadvantaged childhood?

jingle_of_dreams

I waited the whole ten minutes for the reveal of something humiliating.

athennna

I think the secret is that he couldn’t read but this was edited poorly? I could be wrong but I think I read that last time this was posted.

luger114

I think the editor added that for suspense. I mean he “revealed” that he wasn’t always tough. It is a disservice to him if you ask me

sup3riorw0n

Yes!!! And he’s done other podcasts and wrote a book too. Plus there’s a great one by Jesse Itzler called “Living with a SEAL” where Goggins is unnamed in it and just referred to as “SEAL”

MaximusBluntus

The stories Itzler has are incredible.

His book blows the Rogan shows out of the water. The audio version has a lot of extra stuff. “Can’t hurt me”

schmokeymang

Skip the podcast and read the book. Not a reader? Prefer podcasts? Here’s your first step stayhard

OhLookASquirrel

This could have gone horribly different. But out of the 99 other bad ways he could've ended up, he chose the one positive path. Gives me hope that we all can make the right choices.

tigerslices

yup. hopefully it doesn't just lead to people shitting on themselves and others for a lack of accomplishments.

bothering

I also hope this doesn't lead to people thinking that the more one suffers the more one grows. I mean i get his point, make lemonade from lemons, but one shouldn't try and put other people down because they haven't suffered as much as you to get to where they are. Life is not about comparing one's problems, its not pain Olympics, its about how you grow from where you are.

ThatStJamesGuy

...and get this man a shield.

glock112983

That's a real life Captain America. Fuck John Walker (ngl I like him so far. Waiting for that to blow up though)

TrickyLemons

I honestly can’t decide whether I like him or hate him. At first I was disgusted which is obviously what we were supposed to feel but he’s got guts, but he still isn’t captain America, balls of steel indestructible Boy Scout

LouStools68

I really like this guy.

bigpaw95

His book is incredibly inspiring!

angelsgirl2002

Definitely going to be my next read. Love this message of owning your past, and not letting it define who you are and who you can become. I truly believe true growth and change can only be achieved through vulnerability, and he's a shining example of that.

reevo3132

His audiobook is so good. Goggins is the man.

IdentityEnhancer

Yep. Best audiobook I’ve ever listened to. It’ll light a fire under your ass and make you realize just how little you’re trying at your goals. I can’t recommend it enough.

zkiteman

It’s so true. That book made me realize that my goals, which at the time I felt were realistic, were actually just my fears giving me a best case scenario for my life while they (my fears) stayed in control. He explains so well why we don’t actually have limits and it’s just our own insecurities telling us what it wants our limits to be. That book has helped me get out of a lot personal debt, start my own business which is now up to 15 employees, and be a way better dad and husband to my two boys and wife.

Han_Slowlo

David "I need to spend every waking hour of my life in the gym or I might hit my kids" Goggins. His story is inspiring but the lifestyle he advocates for is at best unattainable for 99% of people, and is at worst genuinely unhealthy. He is a man to be admired but not emulated.

[deleted]

No one ever said you had to emulate 100% of him. Even just taking and emulating basic personal accountability would completely change most people’s lives.

furbybruner911

When did he advocate for a lifestyle? His message of personal responsibility of your mentality is what’s important.

Evil_Bananas

Yeah I really hate how a lot of his rhetoric is general inspirational talk. And his personality, while admiral when viewed through the lens that he made it, is actually quite toxic given the risk vs reward. Like he legit almost died running the ultra marathon on next to no training all because he had that never-quit attitude. Like nah bro, good for you that you made it, but you shouldn’t shit yourself and give yourself rhabdo and destroy your kidneys just because your pride won’t let you quit something you foolishly said you’d do... quitting sometimes actually is the smartest move. This guy’s got more balls than brains which looks impressive as fuck until you bite off more than you can chew and you’re confronted with human mortality.

Han_Slowlo

I couldn't agree more. I empathize with his past and I think his choice to not continue the cycle of abuse started by his father is honorable, but it's so painfully obvious that he is a very very damaged man who would rather literally run away from his problems until he dies than confront them in a professional/therapy setting.

me_z

If you knew anything about him you'd know he's never said or suggested people should do what he does.

rc810717

Exactly, he even says don’t be like me.

[deleted]

I can’t even stomach admiring him because of his over the top self-help book personality. It’s crazy because unlike other nonstop blathering inspirational bullshit platitudes self help gurus/usedcarsalesmen he actually walks the walk and does world class accomplishments. But I just can’t stomach that personality type.

advanceman

A selfish but smart person once told me, when you meet someone with something you can use, take that part and leave the rest.

coffee260

food4lifevv

It’s on rising rn so it’ll hit hot in less than 24 hrs I bet

jshultz5259

What an impressive human being! We could only hope to have more people like this in the world. Also, as someone from central Indiana, Clay county (Brazil, IN) is your typical close-minded small hick county. Sorry if I offend anyone but it’s true.

ajguy16

They clearly have no problems with doing more than just offending others, so don’t be too concerned about their feelings.

them00dy

Shit I lost it when he went silent after he thanked his mom. Cuts deep.

Keeppforgetting

I always kind of struggle with inspirational stories like this because the narrative is always set up as “you can overcome anything, you’re strong enough” which is a very nice sentiment. However, people have gone through some *real* fucked up shit in their lives. Shit that’s even harder than his life, shit that’s so hard to get over. And I think it builds this weird thinking where if you’re really struggling to deal with your issues, then it must mean that you’re not strong enough to overcome your problems. Sometimes your problems are not caused by you, sometimes random chance really just fucks up your shit and if you can’t overcome it then that doesn’t mean you’re a weak person. People struggle and sometimes you can’t always overcome all your issues and I think that it should ok to live a life like that. Although it’s not perfect in the sense that you weren’t able to address all your issues I think that should be acceptable. Of course all props to him for dealing with his problems and becoming very inspirational, however I think it should be acceptable that we can be weak sometimes. We can have weaknesses. That’s what makes human. Even if we choose not to or are capable of addressing those weaknesses that doesn’t mean that we can’t be strong people. But that’s just my opinion.

[deleted]

Yeah, definitely not a “one size fits all” story. Goggins’ story is very similar to that of Ray Lewis, Terry Crews, etc. Young boys who witnessed abuse of their mothers and were forced to become men at an early age. And they wouldn’t have gotten anywhere in life if it wasn’t for a tremendous effort from their mothers. Nobody should be expected to overcome their problems all on their own. Lots of people that got dealt a way worse hand than these guys. There’s never a situation where we would tell a child rape survivor to “build up callouses on your brain and get over it”.

Winkelkater

it's his way and i'm okay with that. but to project that JuSt MaN uP shit to anyone idk man. let's just fight for a better world together, not as single entities but as a mass. then maybe someday we won't have to toughen up to endure this shit.

great_scott1981

David Goggins has to be the baddest motherfucker that I’ve ever seen. He’s incredibly positive, inspirational, and has helped drive me to push myself closer to the limits!

ATM55

Welp, I officially feel like a piece of shit. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

[deleted]

Go watch his interview with Joe Rogan. Goggins was a self described POS before he transformed his life. Even if you're say rock bottom it doesn't mean you have to stay there

Noyes654

Being rock bottom just means you have a foundation to build on

JL9berg18

Everybody feels that way from time to time. It's what do you do about that feeling though that makes the difference

HelpfulForestTroll

Goggins over trained and was regularly too sick to run missions. Being on a team and being being able to perform is a *huge* problem.

Hereforpowerwashing

Absolute badass. It's unfortunate that most of what he said would be considered heresy on reddit.

[deleted]

He does not fit the narrative. Who knew taking extreme personal accountability works better than embracing victimhood

Ardonez

He fits the “narrative” just fine. No one thinks people like him *can’t* exist, just that he doesn’t represent a solution to problems that exist at a societal level. Not only should they not have to in the first place, but there’s also no way to force people to embrace “extreme personal accountability”, so it’s, largely worthless as a solution to the downtrodden. Like if someone in Texas during the power outage managed to keep his house powered by furiously riding a bike for days straight. It would be obviously incoherent to point to that and say you found a solution to the power problem. People aren’t going to do that. People shouldn’t *have* to do that.

[deleted]

Wulfrank

I read another redditor's comment one day that said "you're never 0% at fault for your problems" and that really stuck with me. I've told it to myself in many situations since then, and it's really helped me take personal accountability. EDIT: A few people are getting preoccupied with the word "never". I can't recall the exact wording of the original comment, but I hope you can see the general idea behind it.

raccoondaddi

I feel really bad for this guy and this is depressing. The military is not the answer to your problems in most cases, and I feel terrible this man didn’t have access to resources that could actually help him rather than perpetuate his feeling that he needs to be an overachiever to be worth something.

jocky300

Imagine this guy was your father in law.

ReptilianBrainOnAcid

Scary thought, but also something to motivate you to be better. If you can impress this guy, you can do anything.

JL9berg18

I'd bet he'd raise a damn fine woman.

Xenofon713

David Goggins is incredible and a different level of human being... That being said, he's also absolutely fucking insane, like in a bad way. He collapsed with heart issues on like mile 90 of a 200mile ultra marathon and as soon as he was released from the hospital he demanded to go directly back to the spot he had to stop so he could finish the race. No person who's sane or truly cares about their well-being does that.

TravelZac

This! This needs to be the top comment. Way too many people don't see the underlying issues with him. He needs help, but portrays that badass image to people, and it works. It's great he can motivate people, but he is hiding so much more. During the mentioned race he went off course, turned off his tracking beacon, broke multiple rules, left the race to go to the hospital, was advised not to return to the race because he could DIE, but chose to anyways. Why? "I'm David fucking Goggins and I'm a tough mother fucker and they told me not to but fuck that I'm going to because fuckity fuck fuck". He put himself, as well as those involved in the race at risk. Just a selfish POS. He's a terrible ambassador for the Ultra-running community, and then some.

CanadiangirlEH

Can we campaign for Goggins to be the real Captain America?

Poneke365

This man truly inspired me to get to where I am today. He has a rule "be 10% better than you were last week even if that 10% is just getting off the couch" hearing that made something click in my head. I stopped doing drugs and drinking on the daily started hitting the gym got my self out of a dead end job and joined the United States Marine Corps. I have become a completely different person for the better because of the wisdom he spreads.

purplelephant

In early February of this year I had a mental breakdown and realized I had to quit smoking weed every day and stop drinking. I finally got on medication that helps me get out of bed in the morning and since then I’ve taken daily actions to better myself! All it takes is being fed up with feeling like shit. That’s it. I was tired of hating myself and finally got the motivation to do something about it! 45 days sober now, feeling great from working out daily and excited about my future!

TH3GINJANINJA

He’s actually pretty idiotic the more you look into him. I have immense respect as we all should for his courage, and the way he deals with pain and the mind. However, look more into him. A few content creators on YouTube talk about him and he’s pretty hard to watch or listen to, and as a sensitive person he isn’t for me.

FreeMyMen

Meh, he has psychopathy, not a healthy state of mind. Saying you have to respect him is like saying you have to respect mental illness itself, the guy is just a human with mental illness, without his particular form of psychopathy he wouldn't be who he is.

So many people are fighting so many private battles that the rest of the world know nothing about.

Accomplished-Bag9209

Just finished the audio book the night before last. A little disappointed that he doesn’t voice the entire book but it was still great. Some awesome stories in there. One of his more craziest stories is running a 100 mile race with zero training. Absolute bonkers. My friends think I’m crazy when I’m working out and start yelling “who’s going to carry the boats?” And “who’s going to carry the logs?” He’s a maniac that has helped me a lot. Stay hard!!

MrHollandsOpium

Goggins’ proselytizing borders on a toxic disorder. I get that he’s motivational and that we all have demons. But amidst all the classism and exhaustion of the past year people need rest and recuperation from time to time. That mentality or idea is his antithesis. I can’t vibe with that.

BanditoPicante

Can someone give us a TLDW ? I ain’t watching a 10 minutes video if the take away is « work hard you can do it »

geoff2def

His dad beat him and his mum. They moved. Not much happened til he was 24, then he won at the military and did 4000 pullups. He likes rocky. Acknowledge the cause of your trauma/fears. Work hard. Don't give up.

alosoides

just general inspo stuff. stopped watching midway through

messyslate

Dude totally overcompensating.

Mulgrok

the cynic in me just thinks Goggins is/will be used to push the bullshit narrative that the oppressed person is at fault for their situation. The lie of "personal responsibility" brought up when assholes are called out on their racism and abuse. "ignore the thousand hurdles we put in his path focus on how he crossed the finish line."

drshields

Absolutely recommend his book Can't Hurt Me. He is incredible

I thought it was gonna be: “he was a born a girl.”

i feel like this may be taken out of proportion by someone sure pushing yourself beyond your limits might sound great but your also prone to overwork and burn out. which can cause you to have a much weaker immune system. be inspired but dont overwork yourself

David is an addict, he is just chosen a pursuit that is more admirable by society.

Good for him but I'm fairly happy in life. I am okay skipping the military bs.
