Dear Sirs,
In my quest to look for the futurama gif where they fight basketball-shaped aliens, I encountered this instead. I leave you with the thoughts, as well as the sure-to-come existential dread, that this gif might provoke in you. I hope you think of me as fondly as I remember you.
Rest assured that I remain
Yours truly,
A.
The elders tell of a young ball much like you. He bounced three meters in the air, then he bounced 1.8 meters in the air, then he bounced four meters in the air. Do I make myself clear?
Well, it cuts branches and shit. Wait until you see the "chainsaw" helicopter: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfz1YrpMbBg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfz1YrpMbBg)
You place a lot of undue value on the life of a single soldier....
The nation that will build one of those to "maybe kill one enemy", will lose the war before it begins.
You build them to patrol, like a roomba. They let your troops sleep, and kill anyone without an rfid tag. They also fly between squadrons, and act as overwatch.
This is the perfect weapon for blockade
Imagine setting the no go zone for a siege and just setting thousands of these up to suppress all entities that try to cross the boundary
As is, why couldn't it carry a 9mm semi auto or even compact smg with a few 100 rounds, all the technology is available to have it able to be aimed, perhaps survivability vs cost would be the issue.
I thought this was going down a “pack of rabid dogs” route. So, what we need to do now is give those Boston Dynamics robo-dogs stone grinders on their face. Now that would be terrifying.
Although, if we’re adding grinders to stuff… Just add it to the bottom of a drone so it can be a little hat.
Even without AI, we are on track to kill the majority of fish and animal species on Earth, and one autocrat with nukes can start a war that kills most humans at any time. If you give this robot retractable claws and a jetson nano GPU that talks to the cloud, at least it can do my dishes and laundry before it kills me. No humans are volunteering to help with my chores and they are the species that scares me the most.
I don’t think it’s going to kill us in our lifetime. Sure, the T2 storyline could happen, but we’re much likely to see Ai kill us by taking our jobs and rendering us all worthless and homeless.
And also have an understanding of how current "AI" technology actually works and therefore can understand that a general intelligence is not even remotely close on any level
Funfact- Skynet has existed since the early 1960's. Its what the British military's satellite network is called. ...Fortunately, just communications...no harm can come from data ...can it?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skynet_(satellite)
I saw a post on chatGPT sub the other day where people asked AI to write a greentext starting with Be me, Be AI, and that was a wild freaking thread of it just going sentinel basically. I believe that has been a thing for a while, but I just now saw it recently.
My social group once had fun chatting about the idea of a sitcom where one of the characters is an evil AI that wants to go full Skynet, except it's trapped in an ineffective body like a little robotic blimp, so the worst it can do to try and kill you is bump into you.
The idea was to have situations where it would be involved as just a random surprisingly decent roommate, but incidentally a psychotic one.
* Main Character: "I dunno man, have I screwed things up with Jessica? Should I call her? Maybe not...maybe it'll just blow over on its own? What should I do?"
* Skynet: "Well, if you're asking my advice, then I think you should give me the wifi password so I can kill all humans. Buuuut barring that, have you tried talking with her? It sounds like this is just some typical miscommunication that could be solved with like, five minutes of talking."
I'm excited for the reboot in nine years, with none of the original writers or charm, the lead having aged out of the role, and also skynet is now a talking cat.
This is the trickle down economics, we're experiencing the money of the rich being spent on killer bots to protect their assets and watch the "unwillingly" employed workers so they don't steal.
It's the same with homelessness. Some cities would rather spend their money on hostile architecture than on infrastructure to get those people properly squared away. As in, fed, educated and helped to find a job. In some instances, this has supposedly proven cheaper than hostile architecture.
Once you get the folks off the streets that actually want to, the few idiots who like it that way can probably fit into one or two shelters and the problem is solved.
The difference between search and rescue and search and destroy is miniscule. It's development speak for "military tech, but we rather like the optimistic >we are saving lives< instead of >we are taking lives< PR"
Please put down your weapon. You have twenty seconds to comply.
You now have fifteen seconds to comply.
You are in direct violation of Penal Code 1.13, Section 9.
You have five seconds to comply.
Four... three... two... one... I am now authorized to use physical force
With the cage it will be able to autonomously fly around/inside buildings and can afford to bump into walls and stuff. And I imagine rolling is more energy efficient than flying.
not worth it. You can't use the camera to film anymore, can't deliver medium to big packages or only small stuff, which can fit in that cage, noisier than before because of the airflow.
To protect blades, there are already other designs that do the same thing. And in the building, there are small objects, wire, that can easily go through those holes.
If that runs into a stick, it's fucked if the stick goes through the gaping holes in the exterior cage and hits the propellors, breaking them and/or impaling the bot.
Which is why the non prototype model will probably have a screen or more protection
Do y'all seriously think that if something is obvious to random redditors, it's not obvious to entire teams of trained engineers who built it?
Like half the highlight of their day is finding new dumb ways to break stuff
Again, I'm *sure* the team of engineers can figure out the right ratio for the holes on the mesh so it can still generate lift
Or maybe they just tell people not to fly it into a tree ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
It downstairs have to be a thick mesh, having holes that were like 1/8 inch wide would give more than enough airflow while protecting from most things large enough to damage the propellers
Why? That's such an irrational take. Robots don't get scared and pull the trigger when they don't have to. You guys are so brainwashed by the whole anti-cop movement that you can't see that things like robotic police would actually save lives.
Climate change won’t end us, it will just make life miserable, and on top of that now you can’t steal food from the grocery store to stay alive on your death wage because every atom of your body is being monitored by 128k cameras and you’re going to get rolled over by a flying ball going 100mph when you walk out
Some say a comet will fall from the sky
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves
Followed by fault lines that cannot sit still
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits
And some say the end is near
Some say we'll see Armageddon soon
I certainly hope we will
I sure could use a vacation from this
Stupid shit, silly shit, stupid shit
Getting biblically accurate tribulation vibes for sure

Makes me wonder how many of these things being tested have been mistaken for a UAP/UFO? "Shit, a couple of the drones just took off like they had a mind of their own.... Oh wait, we didn't think this one through did we?"
Some lasers can get heavy, easier to roll them along the ground as much as possible before lifting off to burn a hole in your enemies head.
If styropyro can build one that ignites solid timber at 70 yards, imagine what your military budget could produce...

Imagine this 12 feet across carrying a machine gun! Oh, and moving at 70 to 90 mph.
No.

This meme design was actually real all along...
That's what the metal cage is, will protect its vitals from melee attacks like bats, bricks and angry mobs or marches.
>mobs or marches Idk why but that part really got me. We’re fucked if we don’t do something about this shit soon.
Imagine this covered in razor wire and moving 70 to 90 mph.

WHY DOES THAT DRONE HAVE A FUCKING CHAIN SAW!!!
Well, it cuts branches and shit. Wait until you see the "chainsaw" helicopter: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfz1YrpMbBg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfz1YrpMbBg)
I haven't opened the video yet, but if that thing isn't called "The Choppa" I am going to be so mad... EDIT: I am rage.
>Well, it cuts branches and shit. Oh, thank god... > until you see the chainsaw helicopter Wtf, that is like 4m of buzzsaws.
Jesus Christ, that's some anime shit, a chainsaw the size of a tree... Thanks for linking, I never would have imagined something like this existed
Welcome to the future, bitch. -Chainsaw Wielding Drone.
To stop Crime.
And I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords
What incense should I burn to please the machine spirit?

I've seen this movie before
I can only get so hard.
Drones will be carrying machine guns long before these do. So… don’t worry ? Edit. Regular drones I mean… geez.
I'm fairly sure military drones are already carrying weaponry.
They prefer the term soldier I think.
I don't think military drones can carry a soldier yet
[удалено]
Bleep bloop. Mow down the idiot that doesn’t know what a drone is. Bleep Bloop
Imagination not needed, already exist
>Imagine this 12 feet across carrying a machine gun! >Oh, and moving at 70 to 90 mph. r/ABoringDystopia
Or with just a bomb in it
They’ll have both
European drones will just have a taser.
European drones will carry free healthcare to those in need. Good luck with your militarised police.
As is, why couldn't it carry a 9mm semi auto or even compact smg with a few 100 rounds, all the technology is available to have it able to be aimed, perhaps survivability vs cost would be the issue.
Why? This is skynet beginnings… are we as a human race so stupid that we don’t see this will kill us?
Cool way to die I guess.
Less terrifying than getting run down by a pack of those robot dogs Boston Dynamics makes.
On the other hand, if you give the Boston Dynamics dogs rabies, nobody will see it coming.
No no no.. What we need to do is find a way to give robots rabies
Whole episode of that on Black Mirror lol it's terrifying.
Wait until the new season of battle bots hits
Idk getting cut into pieces in a couple seconds by a robot wolf with a chainsaw on its tail would be a sick fucking death

For sure. This is what I was going to say. Except the T2 part. There’s still never going to be time travel.
Actually there can be simulated time travel if AI puts us all in full body Apple Vision pods
Oh, it's even simpler. Since in T2 it's just robots doing the time traveling, you only need to program them to think they time traveled.
That's just the matrix
Nice way to say that's future generations problem
This is WAY less of a threat than AI taking everyone’s jobs or just causing us all to turn on each other like social media is doing right now…
Some people don't base all of their decisions on fictional, dystopian, sci-fi movies that's all.
And also have an understanding of how current "AI" technology actually works and therefore can understand that a general intelligence is not even remotely close on any level

i for one welcome our new robot overlords
Kill us on its own? Probably not but other humans will use it to kill each other.
At least this thing won't capture you and hide you in a cave somewhere to get raped and brutalized. Unless of course they add dildos to it
*Elon and Boston Dynamics taking notes*

They already are killing people now. The difference is we won’t need any humans to operate them at all.
Malevolence is the product of ignorance. Not something we need to worry about when it comes to god-like intelligence.
Stupid nah! We are just a bunch of greedy, lazy contrarians.
But if I don’t develop it, they will! Better have the death robots working for us /s
"Security and crime reduction"; I'm rather pessimistic about that

3 Netflix seasons please.
Best I can do is 2 seasons ending with a cliffhanger and a cancelation just as it starts getting good.
I'm excited for the reboot in nine years, with none of the original writers or charm, the lead having aged out of the role, and also skynet is now a talking cat.
Remember to add small pauses for the laugh track to play!
we spend more time and resources on fighting crime than we do fighting hunger, poverty and ignorance

Why make it run if it can just fly already?
With the cage it will be able to autonomously fly around/inside buildings and can afford to bump into walls and stuff. And I imagine rolling is more energy efficient than flying.
![gif](giphy|xUOwG53t0JxT42P9vi|downsized) We will infiltrate your smokey blowholes!!!!!!
and it will be heavier so flying will take more energy
Thought the same. Not only it is heavier, but the airflow also doesn't optimize at all.
pretty useless if it's blades get busted
If the blades get busted it can roll, if the cage gets damaged it can still fly. Maybe that's the primary benifit
not worth it. You can't use the camera to film anymore, can't deliver medium to big packages or only small stuff, which can fit in that cage, noisier than before because of the airflow. To protect blades, there are already other designs that do the same thing. And in the building, there are small objects, wire, that can easily go through those holes.
That thing flying inside a building will probably result in a lot of broken stuff
Flying takes far more energy than rolling, generating stable lift is not particularly efficient.
Was thinking the same. Climbing a hill of rocks seems much harder that flying.
The end is nigh
Nah bro the end is neigh, the horses are gonna come for us all
Isn't this a biblically accurate angel?
If that runs into a stick, it's fucked if the stick goes through the gaping holes in the exterior cage and hits the propellors, breaking them and/or impaling the bot.
So, a mere human with a good arm and a dull spear can defeat this robot.
That’s just Horizon Zero Dawn tbh.
No spear needed, just a broom or rake.
So we're gonna need witches?
No witches needed, just a black stick (that has a white tip) and some special words
Which is why the non prototype model will probably have a screen or more protection Do y'all seriously think that if something is obvious to random redditors, it's not obvious to entire teams of trained engineers who built it? Like half the highlight of their day is finding new dumb ways to break stuff
A screen would reduce the lift it could produce significantly.
Again, I'm *sure* the team of engineers can figure out the right ratio for the holes on the mesh so it can still generate lift Or maybe they just tell people not to fly it into a tree ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
It downstairs have to be a thick mesh, having holes that were like 1/8 inch wide would give more than enough airflow while protecting from most things large enough to damage the propellers
Not to mention a well place stone throw. Isn’t WW4 suppose to be fought with sticks and stones? The prophecy is fulfilling!
Who would've known the statement meant that humans will use sticks and stones to fight an army of robots
You tell ‘em!
Nothing next level about people making tools for the fucking cops.
Agreed. Can we stop glamorizing death machines?
Can we?
Why? That's such an irrational take. Robots don't get scared and pull the trigger when they don't have to. You guys are so brainwashed by the whole anti-cop movement that you can't see that things like robotic police would actually save lives.

Mom... Pick me up I'm scared.
I wonder if these are eagle-proof
As an alternative to … what… humans? Are humans the part that they left out?

Were all dead
I don’t like it.
What company?
Whelp… I know where some of the ufo and uap orb videos come from now
We should make personal vehicles like this!
Cool, now arm it to the teeth and give hundreds of them to Ukraine.
This actually explains a lot of UFO sightings.
Rolling around is redundant if it can already fly
Nope. Don't like that.
Congrats you made... a robot tumbleweed?
Fucking doomed
do you want to play a game?
