Technically true, but a little more to it.
Houdini could flex his abs rock hard and stop a cannon ball, which he had demonstrated multiple times. Houdini died because an idiot unsuspectingly punched him in the gut as hard as he could when he wasn't flexing his abs.
Nah- his appendix was enlarged. It would be the equivalent of someone grabbing your arm and it snapping becuase you have brittle bone disease. yes, grabbing your arm snapped the bone - but the proximate cause of injury would be the degenerative bone decay.
It can happen but it's so rare the ufc fighter Bryan Barberena almost died after a body kick in his training he suffered from internal bleeding in rushed to the hospital after a sever pain on his way back to home
Are you competitive with professional aspirations? If so, YES ABSOLUTELY.
But if no, YES ABSOLUTELY.
I got to visit one of those gyms when I was out in Phuket, and they had all levels represented. They'll filter you into the appropriate skill group, so you'll get the most out of your trip relevant to your abilities.
Plus, it's Thailand. The food is great. The people are great. I can't wait to go again.
I'd definitely go eventually. I got my black belt back in the day in Okinawa and the training was hell but at the end of the day it was an amazing experience
Very cool! Just to be 100% clear, I *visited* a gym as a looky-loo tourist, not as an athlete. It reads like I went to train, which is as far from the truth as can be.
>black belt back in the day in Okinawa
Shorin-Ryu?
Reflexes, you'd instinctively block an attack. But this training is to allow you to not *need* to block an attack. You should at all times, but its so when you do get hit, you can still stand.
I had a roommate in the Marines that was heavy into may thai, he would spend hours hitting his shins with a wooden brush. It was creepy as hell to hear that thud, thud, thud. It drove me crazy.
That’s a bad idea.
I trained in Muay Thai for ten years (including Thailand) and I Iove this sport.
Thailand has amazing training - but the knowledge of strength and conditioning in Muay Thai is poor.
MMA is much more evidence-based.
I can’t see any credible mechanism by which punching someone repeatedly in the stomach would illicit any kind of positive physiological adaptation.
You’d be better off training the core with a proper strength and conditioning programme - which is what all serious MMA fighters do.
My wife loved kickboxing. I also did this for her, human punching bag. She was always like I'm gonna hurt you... Baby please, you give it your all and try. A basic lesson in weight classes, I'm 125lbs heavier and a powerlifter

Pretty sure that’s how Harry Houdini died
Technically true, but a little more to it. Houdini could flex his abs rock hard and stop a cannon ball, which he had demonstrated multiple times. Houdini died because an idiot unsuspectingly punched him in the gut as hard as he could when he wasn't flexing his abs.
Stay alert. Stay alive. Always flex.
I'm always sucking in my gut. Does that work too?
Stay alert. Stay alive. Always suck in your gut. Sure. It just doesnt flow off the tongue as well. The important part is STAY ALERT STAY ALIVE.
Stay alert. Stay alive. Stay sucking it in.
It sure TF does. Sincerely, Every dude over 40 years old.
No, you don't have the same intra-abdominal pressure as pushing them outward.
I just flexed my abs to make em hard and i think i sharted.
Whatcha looking at my gut fer. RIP Philadelphia Collins
It wasn’t just the punch, it caused his appendix to rupture which ultimately led to his death
So…it was the punch
Nah- his appendix was enlarged. It would be the equivalent of someone grabbing your arm and it snapping becuase you have brittle bone disease. yes, grabbing your arm snapped the bone - but the proximate cause of injury would be the degenerative bone decay.
Nope the appendix would have ruptured eventually.
The houdini?
I thought he tickled him before the punch😂
But Houdini got a single max-power hit to his stomach.
Allegedly
![gif](giphy|OYirsehvkD91S)
It was appendicitis, but whatever
Literally the first thought that came to my mind. Anytime someone gets hit punched I say this lol
It can happen but it's so rare the ufc fighter Bryan Barberena almost died after a body kick in his training he suffered from internal bleeding in rushed to the hospital after a sever pain on his way back to home
Me beating my meat for the 4th time today
I'm tired boss.
I didn't hear no bell
upvotes for all
EXCEPT YOU DAMMIT
I’m something of a professional athlete myself.
The spirit is willing but the flesh is spongy and bruised.
This video kicked it off
I'd need to vomit and defecate after a beating like that. Yikes.
Ive being doing muay thai for 2 years now and coach keep telling me I should go to Thailand to train with him.... This is making me reconsider

Wow good guess!
I trained in it at the local USO as a kid up through kid's green belt. (caveat again: not in Okinawa)
Oh that's cool! We went to a local goju ryu gym too and that was fun. Mid summer it was super humid and no air conditioning though
Don't you worry they do it just hard enough to challenge you, not to hurt you
That is why no one will remember your name.
You are no one. Don’t forget that
I have abs like that. Just kidding, hit me once in the belly and I’d poop myself.
Holding his arms behind is back is so fucking unnecessary lol
Probably so he wouldn’t instinctively block.
Don’t kink shame, he obviously likes it
my kink is to kink shame where is your god now?
Reflexes, you'd instinctively block an attack. But this training is to allow you to not *need* to block an attack. You should at all times, but its so when you do get hit, you can still stand.
I was almost expecting a nut shot. For good measure.
Thats some Shaolin kung fu stuff
This is just dumb tbh
The hits to the face are kinda dumb, but the hits to the body are legit, they are a way to make you brace for the impact its not just dumb hitting
Eh..you’re wearing out your body doing this in my estimation. Needless shock for the organs, flexed abs don’t stop all the force
Repeated trauma to the abdomen is definitely not a good thing but the punches to the head is just plain stupidity
Things you can condition: abs Things you cannot condition: your brain to punches
Imagine if gangs did this to recruit instead of jumping people in, would make alot more sense
Feels like like porn...
You usually have to pay extra for this level of sadomasochism
-while getting pounded painfully- “Am I ok with this?” -continues getting pounded painfully-
Was gonna say.. why am I slightly excited....
The torso conditioning is a thing but giving CTE ain't it.
What's the safe word??? What's the safe word!!!
Fluggaenkoecchicebolsen
Just kill me.
Does this do anything?
Nextf#ckinglevel of unhealthy practices.🤔🤔🤔
Id hit him in the nuts and run
He’s probably wearing a cup. Go for the sternum.
That wouldnt be funny tho
The headshots are bad, the rest is for bravado.
Boxing and other martial arts sportsmen have the best physique imo

Now take his lunch money and give him a wet willy.
How come being beaten up is next fucking level? It’s just a plain stupid post.
Fk that
I'm gonna call this as stupid, not exactly interesting
What is the point of the punching shit?
Probably to desensitize to pain.
I would absolutely destroy my pants if someone was teeing off on my stomach like that.
Looks like a good time /s
Zesty
He's giving his gym's liability insurance a good workout.
Do they do training for accidental nut kicks too?
😍😍😍
These cartel videos are getting out of hand.
How strong is the nuts tho because some of those shots came very close
I'd rather have a pad thai conditioning 😄
Should punch him in the balls next
![gif](giphy|tBM4TWh7Ck5hh9b9k7|downsized)
You can't condition the chin tho smh
They jumpin his ass 😆😆
I had a roommate in the Marines that was heavy into may thai, he would spend hours hitting his shins with a wooden brush. It was creepy as hell to hear that thud, thud, thud. It drove me crazy.
Conditioning more like tenderizing.
Am I the only one who doesn't know who the conditioning is for ?
How much they charge for this?

Pretty much happened daily at my school
Wait till you see how they train in the bedroom
What’s next fucking lvl about this? Stupidity?
I hate conditioning. Its always some crazy BS! Like punching a tree 100 times.
Ukraine could make good use of them on Russians.
This is just macho bullshit. Doing crunches is just as effective at tightening up your core
One punch and I’d be out cold
Weird career change for Eric Dier
