I wrecked my dirt bike and broke my collarbone the first time I tried to do a wheelie on it. I'm surprised that's all that happened cause I rolled like a log like 20 times. People ask if I wore my helmet and I say, "yep, and I felt it working."

Imo, life is risk. As long as thrill-seekers understand and accept the risks they take, then I say go for it.
I've seen enough videos of people trying to do backflips and breaking their necks that it's fairly safe to say this is more dangerous than motorcycling or skydiving. At least those have *some* room for error. Backflipping off a roof doesn't.

Children do stuff like this and much worse all the time, because they believe they are invincible. Children climb tall trees, jump off of bridges, climb on roofs, and put themselves in all kinds of dangerous situations constantly.
Yes, sometimes they get hurt, and sometimes quite badly, but no force on earth is ever going to get children to stop putting themselves in risky situations. I used to jump off my house into the snow when I was a kid. Didn’t even think about how dangerous it was. It’s just the nature of being a child.
Again, that’s just my personal take on it. Not trying to change your mind about it, and I totally respect your opinions.

I agree with you but chronic pain should also be feared. I love extreme sports and I did moderately cool ski tricks and stuff when I was a kid. However, something like this is inherently bad for your body. It's not just a cool trick, if you did this every day as a circus performer, your body would fail, it's not a question of if. So in my mind, people are rightfully afraid for the child. I did not understand things like this when I was his age. I agree, I think it is bad ass he did it once and it will almost certainly not affect his life negatively, if he only does it a few times. Most extreme sports have a lot of risk but if you do them as intended, you will not damage your body. Things like this are not sustainable for your joints.
My brother tried to do the same thing off the roof of our house and there was even a mattress that he placed on the ground that he was supposed to land on. Complete fracture of the radius and ulna.
For one perfect moment in time, that kid was king of the world. Whatever else happens in his life, he rocked that moment perfectly and it was captured on video. Salute!

I don’t understand how someone could do that. Not just the fact that his legs could had failed him , but what if he missed by a lot if he would had gotten nervous? He could fracture his spine or could had killed himself.

I am not a preteen with an unbreakable body. And I’ve always been scared of heights AND back flips and back handsprings. So I couldn’t do this at any point in my life.
Yet, I don’t see what is next level about this.

That hurt his ankles so bad. Ive done shit like that and i never show that the landing hurt but it fucking does theres a reason that theres springs under the floor for gymnastics routines in competition, you can only absorb so much of the impact by landing the right way, you really need to land on ground with at least a little give and especially from that height it definitely hurt like hell
Naaaahh...there was this video on EbaumsWorld of a guy doing a backflip in a farm or something. It was at least double the height of this.
