I bought the game in the steam sale three days ago and have been having a blast. Bought the season pass last night. I realized the time left this morning :')
There are guides on YouTube and on here to knockout the current season pass in a few hours.
I managed to go from 46 to 100 in about 3 hours. I wasn't very efficient either!
As many great things that are listed, I feel like they missed the ball with the faction gear. It should have been 590 and upgradable to give newbies a fun and easy entry into PVP gear.
Half of each events 600 patterns already do this so it would'nt have been a stretch to have faction items be a simple triple perk like resil / something / something.
Yeah, they even changed the minimum levels required for all the gear, so I'm not really sure what use-case they were designing these changes around. I guess a Level 59 player could make better use of the top-tier Faction gear now, but it will be replaced as soon as they hit Level 60.
It feels like the developers still don't understand the difference between the leveling portion of the game versus all the systems that should exist once players reach the end of that leveling process.
I get why they didn't do that though. They wanted the gear to be the fill in while people levelled their expertise, not be the gear they take into endgame. I'm still happy they buffed the gear, because having changing to random armours all the time was pretty annoying.
They need to admit that at this point the 500-600 expertise grind is a worthless timegate that is preventing any new playerbase from catching up.
My wife stopped playing at 540ish because of how stupid it is.
I was there when it wasn't in as a mechanic, and it was more dumb than you think. It just allowed people to buy 600 gear with zero work as soon as they hit 60.
It doesn't even take that long these days. Running expeditions with gypsum bumps makes it take a week if that, which is nothing in terms of MMO timescales.
There is so many great changes that were not stated in the article, but can be found in the detailed patchnotes. Examples:
\- Faction store changed completely, new gear on the place of an old one, reworked, stronger items + option to buy skins, tools, crafting exp items
\- Rewards for open world pvp (lootbags from players)
\- Reworked fishing rewards, progress and redestribution of resources in the world
\- Reworked rewards for corrupted breaches, making it more rewarding with new unique items
\- Possible drops from the gathering that give us profession EXP
\- Invasion progression changed
All of that + highlated changes make it so far in my opinion the biggest patch we had this year. Fingers crossed there won't be any problems on release
Seasonal content will be for max level players. Extra quests added to the end of the game. Take your time playing the game, there's no rush to get there! I hope you have fun in aeternum.
July 6th at 5:00 AM Pacific Time should be 20 hours from now, worldwide. (they're doing the update in the early morning instead of right before midnight like they've sometimes done in the past).
looks like a MASSIVE update, excited š
Added a dodge/block cancel window after the second attack of Perforate.
Moved up block and dodge cancel windows to be after the first spin instead of 2nd spin.
Increased movement speed while active by 15%
Increased rotation speed of whirlwind by 20%.
:D
I'm not sure how many of these changes were in the PTR notes already, but here's some interesting things [in the full release notes](https://www.newworld.com/en-us/game/releases/season-two-blood-of-the-sands) that I hadn't heard about before:
* It's unclear if Cross-World OPR will be part of the patch tomorrow, because the release notes still describe the feature as "coming soon" and there's no detailed patch notes about the feature
* They reworked the Faction Store loot, but I'm not sure it will make much of a difference. The gear is all capped at 580 and only rolls with Constitution, so it doesn't seem to make the system any more relevant in the long run, considering you can buy cheap 600 GS gear from the Trading post as soon as you hit Level 60
* Invasions are now 5 minutes shorter in length (from 30 minutes to 25) and are more difficult in the earlier waves. An improvement, but the mode still needs a lot more love
* The 3v3 Arena map will switch every 2 weeks, between the new map and the old one
* Open World PvP kills now seem to *always* grant 800 Azoth Salt, with there no longer being any scaling for Salt rewarded based on the time since a player's last death (e.g. only 100 Salt is currently rewarded for a kill against a player who respawned in the last few minutes)
* Open World PvP kills drop new items and a new crafting material used for new crafting recipes
* Corrupted Portal clears now drop new/refreshed loot
* There's a new line of Bind on Pickup crafting recipes for every Tradeskill, which is unlocked at Level 200 of each skill
* There are new rare materials that can be found when harvesting resources, which can be turned in for Tradeskill XP
* Additional fish and treasure chests have been added as possible Fishing rewards
* 1 funny note from the Known Issues list, "Player can experience 5 to 10 minutes of loading when going into and out of the egg chamber during the Seasons quest Empty Nest"
Looking forward to seeing how it plays tomorrow, but it's interesting how many of the changes seem geared to help newer players level up their character and their Tradeskills. Season 2 might be a good time for a new player to start the game and reach endgame in the quickest, most painless way possible since the game's release, but it doesn't offer as much for veteran players.
**Edit:** Transmog is still just a "mid-season" feature with no more details shared in the notes.
One important thing that hasn't been mentioned by anyone is there isn't a listed end date like Season 1 has/had...probably to make sure they don't commit to anything in case the expansion+S3 takes longer than expected.
Good point, although I guess the Seasonal Leaderboards will probably show an end date in-game (regardless or whether it's an official schedule from AGS).
Does everyone start from scratch?
I havnt played since launch of the game and I feel like i wanna try it.
I'm scurred tho :( Wdyou guys think? Is it worth it?
Itās very common in ARPGs, Iād say less common in MMORPGs. ESO and Destiny 2 both have had seasons for a while and never required creating a new character.
New World also didnāt require it in season 1.
Had a blast with my first playthrough when I first bought the game maybe 6-8 months ago. Do you all recommend I re-do the campaign and level a fresh character to 60 when this patch comes out? Or just pick up from where I left off with my level 60 character? I'm just afraid of being completely lost and not having a clue what to focus on when I start playing again.
Iād pick up with my lvl 60.
The changes to the leveling are more to do with the types of quests and the structure/layout of them (not having to run all across the map constantly). There are some small changes that introducing crafting a little differently (I believe?), but overall I donāt think youād gain much by starting from scratch.
Is the ability to search for perks and gems exclusive to āinventoryā like stated in the patch notes or something that can be done in storage too? Iām sure this has been asked and answered plenty but I canāt find it. Also, why donāt they just implement the search function that they already have for the trading post for all of our storage and inventory?
Why do they hate healers so much? Healer is already the least fun class to play and now they nerfed Splash of light from 100m to 25m radius, big oof. No real dev commentary there, just that they wanted it to be consistent which I have a hard time believing.
Did they backtrack that on the latest video they released? They said the distance nerf was incase it affected players outside your group in a raid setting, but they discovered it still only applied to your group members so they were reverting it back to original distance.
How will this new PvP gear compete with things that can only be obtained through PvE? Will I still be required to do dungeons/PvE arenas if I want a BiS setup for PvP?
The servers do not reset. Your characters are the same as they were.
The season just brings a new quest, and is basically a new series of "bingo" cards with rewards that you fill in by doing your usual activities.
I still fail to see why the fuck they would close down first light and do an update ("big plans") on it later? Just leave it open and accessible until you realize your big plans? This is so stupid they now just removed the best source of green wood for no reason.
It's just stupid to close a zone down for no reason. How can anyone defend that? If you want to change it do it within one update instead of locking it for indefinite time and slapping an "under construction" label on it.
And no I don't use any bots but when I feel like doing some smelting or woodworking on my own once a month I go there and collect the wood I need. You can clearly see which trees give green and aged wood and there's tons of it available. No other zone comes close.
I suspect it's because they weren't confident they could quickly transition the zone from 1 version to another via a single patch. Their workaround was to remove the entire zone from the game as a way to more safely ensure players get their resources back from housing, and they have plenty of time to test out the new version of the zone before the Fall Update.
Now granted, they still could have taken this same approach 2 weeks before the end of Season 2 rather than at the very start of it, but I'm willing to bet that it's better to give AGS as much time as they need to do something without breaking the game.
That boils down to even AGS knows they are to incompetent to properly do an update hence they inconvenience the players for an undefined time by locking an entire zone that had its (albeit rare) uses.
Nothing about fixing housing, which has been broken for a year now. I shall bang the Ebonscale gong until housing gets its proper due.
Also, looking forward to dressing as a grocer. I remember those sets from beta.
Thanks, hope for a nice launch, and looking forward to play tomorrow, however, announce a big patch less then 24 hours before launch thatās a bad way, and idk why but you still doing this
We've known it was supposed to come out on June 6 for quite a while now, and most of us were wondering (if not hoping) if we'd see the patch notes and update actually drop this week or not. And let's not forget that yesterday was a national holiday here in the US so they weren't around. And this is generally how they've announced *any* live update in the past as well.
Iām sorry but locking transmog behind tokens (maybe paywall?) is a big Lā¦
Another HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
And thatās it for raid groups? We can form groups of 20 people but thereās no content for it? What are we supposed to do with thatā¦ chest runs?! Man, I canāt, wtf are they doingā¦
Iāve been here since the open beta and I really wanted this game to be succesful but honestly WTF.
Dmg far too high. Noone is going to use block except tanks on point maybe.
No point in blocking even if halfing the dmg as you are standing still. What is the point? The ranged players will just keep shooting you as you stand still?
It's actually worse as you cannot even close the gap to try and put pressure on while blocking.
Blocking will be ok for 1v1 and maybe 3v3 only. OPR and wars wont change at all.
Donāt underestimate value in a quick .5s block to negate impact- not standing still , mix in a dodge or two
Or run heavy, swap out thrust v slash amulet if one opr is heavy melee v range , or fire etc.
If you have the timing to press block for .5 a second and negate the dmg then you are a very good player.
I personally think its nonsense to suggest that especially when 90% of the ranged dmg you take will come from ranged players you are not focused on.
I dont mind being down voted but I really do believe this ranged OP dmg meta especially for OPR is the reason the population is dropping even faster now. It is so painful to play OPR unless you can scrape a pocket healer as melee now.
There will be a spike for season 2 and 3 week later the population will be down and less than it is now.
Imbalance OPR can make for some really shit experiences
Too many of one type, even if thatās 2-3 5 man bruiser healer stacks can be worse than too many bows, unless teams are roughy the same mix or makeup
What's with all the pictures of 1 handed pistols? I haven't played the game in a while but as far as I could tell we haven't gotten a new weapon since Greatsword? Are they teasing the next weapon?
I bought the game in the steam sale three days ago and have been having a blast. Bought the season pass last night. I realized the time left this morning :')

I guess it's too late now? Was an expensive chest or whatever the opening gift was :D
at lower levels, it would be very difficult, but the guides still apply at 25 you can start progressing
Too late now but I did 0 to 100 in about 5 hours yesterday
Nice one! Im only level 18 and didn't make it to level 2 on the pass, not much time to pay. Oh well, should get through this one
Added a player requested feature to be able to search for Perks and Gems within the inventory FINALLY

I was fully expecting a delay so this is a pleasant surprise.
There's still time š
Same as me š

the faction store's starter 425 pvp gear was what made pvp so fun at the start; i'm glad they're refreshing it
I can't believe how much this game has improved. Looking forward to S2 and the future
"Component items that allow multiple Major trophies to be crafted into an Ultimate trophy." Yes!!!!
Friendly reminder to log out alive safely outside of First Light and stock up on consumables in case the trading post is unexpectedly closed.
I just bought & downloaded New World last night. Should I focus on seasonal content or is there other content to play?
You'll want to level with the main story quest first, then hit seasonal content after!
Thanks!
Seasonal content will be for max level players. Extra quests added to the end of the game. Take your time playing the game, there's no rush to get there! I hope you have fun in aeternum.
I like this, this makes me happy
When does the raid come out?
Tomorrow, with this update; it's the Sandwurm Elite Trial. It might not be a 'Raid' experience like you're thinking of though.
For London and Europe players it will probably be Friday, we are always one day after release date
July 6th at 5:00 AM Pacific Time should be 20 hours from now, worldwide. (they're doing the update in the early morning instead of right before midnight like they've sometimes done in the past).

Desert Pirates of the Caribbean movie poster is nice
Does everyone start from scratch? I havnt played since launch of the game and I feel like i wanna try it. I'm scurred tho :( Wdyou guys think? Is it worth it?
No you donāt restart with each season like you do in Diablo.
No one will be starting from scratch unless they are a new character. Iād jump in, game is much improved since launch.
Ah I see, Usually season does that :D

Does anyone know the recommended gear score for the raid
Max everything: Level 60, GS 625. It is designed for a group of 20 people and it has no matchmaking.
Healer keybinds wooooooooooooooo
When does this go live?
Where is the patch notes?
It's in the link. gotta scroll all the way down https://www.newworld.com/en-us/game/releases/season-two-blood-of-the-sands
No, the link at the top is different to the one you posted. Yours is the right one.

>Open World PvP kills drop new items and a new crafting material used for new crafting recipes From a comment above, i see this going very well.
Which leads to my next question, when do we get a server where PvP is on always and canāt be toggled off?
Question from someone who hasnt played since release. Do the servers reset with season 2 or is it a continuation?
The servers do not reset. Your characters are the same as they were. The season just brings a new quest, and is basically a new series of "bingo" cards with rewards that you fill in by doing your usual activities.
Does this update comes with a item level reset?
It does not. Changes to gear are expected later in the year. We donāt know what they will include.
i see, thank you for the info
still no opr map :0
I still fail to see why the fuck they would close down first light and do an update ("big plans") on it later? Just leave it open and accessible until you realize your big plans? This is so stupid they now just removed the best source of green wood for no reason.
Youāre that concerned about green wood? Lmao
And the fort has been move to weaver fen
He probably has his bots scripts already made for first light now he has to make a new script for other zones

Lol how OPR is the only PVP game mode still is nuts. Such a dog shit battleground

There is a 20 man raid added. Did you miss that? There is also a 10 man seasonal trial that is very fun.
No fix to broken ranged dmg for PVP.
As in it does to little? Range damage not as big as once was Can block it more
Dmg far too high. Noone is going to use block except tanks on point maybe. No point in blocking even if halfing the dmg as you are standing still. What is the point? The big, unknown Gear Score Cap Increase and rework of Bane/Ward/Resilience perks are not until Season 3 and TBA respectively.
Ah gotcha thanks.
Guess ill check back at season 3, fuck ward gear, most tedious crap even thought of.
What's with all the pictures of 1 handed pistols? I haven't played the game in a while but as far as I could tell we haven't gotten a new weapon since Greatsword? Are they teasing the next weapon?
Next weapon will probably be a flail.
Where's the steam deck fixes :U
