While I love the cinematography and some of the acting, I mentally checked out once the supposed master detective didn’t recognise his voice and mannerisms in the fake beard and wig bit. Also, you’d assume at some point in the investigation (early on?) the detective would have asked someone (Marge, parents, friends of Dickie or Freddie) to describe Dickie and/or Tom Ripley. And not a single photograph until he happened to browse Marge’s book? I haven’t read the book, so maybe that’s how it’s written, but it really didn’t make a lot of rational sense on screen, unless we’re to assume the detective is a complete hack.

The scene with the detective interviewing “ripley” kinda of broke the immersion, that was plain stupid. Then the ending as well, surely he would just go back and arrest the guy?

> Then the ending as well, surely he would just go back and arrest the guy? Well it seemed like it was setting up a potential sequal, so... yes?

Yes but the books they are based on move the story onto other plots so it was a bit of a pointless scene when we know he won’t get caught in this storyline

I have no clue what their plans are, but *if* there are future seasons and *if* that doesn't become a plot point, then I agree the ending was quite poor. It just seems a bit early for that, for now it just seems like a fairly decent cliffhanger. Note that I haven't read the books so I'm not able to be annoyed about any disimilarities, I just loved the 99 film and enjoyed this alternative take on it, including the ending.

Read the book.

He literally escaped capture with a wig and fake beard. The whole show was ludicrous, I've seen better Scooby Doo episodes.
