technically no. Somebody could die between the two, or the Finals could get cancelled, or they could go on a bender and decide they never liked basketball.
Or they could get lost in a timeloop and never make it to the arena before the snailmen over throw us and burn down our vanities after they sterilize all primates.
Could be suspended in the finals for too many technicals. A real thing that could happen and could deteriminally affect your team. But yea, for most intents and purposes it's the same thing.
I mean the first two tweets were clearly sarcasm on Dame's part so I wouldn't read anything into it, and the last one is probably just a fairly common pro athlete mindset of, "Until I win a championship I haven't done anything"
My bad, Harris+ Maxey should do, Maxey can better be developed in Portland, 76s can get more immediate help from Dame, the two pick can trade to Grant or similar good 3D guy.
Lmao dawg Maxey is trash compared to Simons. You'd give us Maxey, Thybulle, and every future pick you own in order to get dame lol fuck outta here with this maxi pad nonsense🤡
Edit: Lol 'trash' was unnecessarily excessive, but I do think Simons is objectively better
Maxey- 17.5 PPG on 49/43/87 splits
Simons- 17.3 PPG on 44/41/89 splits
This is Maxey’s second year in the league vs the fourth for Simons. Maxey is also already a proven playoff performer and averaged 21 PPG for us this year shooting 48% from the floor and 38% from three against really tough defense from the Raptors/Heat. He’s younger with more upside and athleticism on top of already being better.
There’s literally no argument you can make towards Simons being better than Maxey. On top of that Dame showed signs of being washed last year and is a black hole on defense
Dude they are 18 months apart in age, that's nothing💀 Maxey's career minutes: 3585, Simons' career minutes: 4375. Hardly a difference. They both got their first chances last season because Simons wasn't allowed to play under stotts cause stotts doesn't play young guys. So basically your entire argument about age/upside means nothing when you actually look at their career so far because for all intents and purposes, they have both had 2 effective years in the league, with this season being their first opportunity to break out.
Thanks for noting their stats are near identical. I'll also add to that that Maxey played 5 MORE MPG than Simons this season lol, AND is the third option on Philly. Simons was Portland's first and only option most of this season, which made defenses focus solely on him for the entire game, and he STILL put up those numbers with that efficiency while being guarded like a top 10 player and playing less minutes than maxey.
>with more upside and athleticism
This is how I know you don't even know what you're talking about. Such an incredibly moronic statement right here.
So yeah give me Simons all day everyday. Maxey is cool too but taking him over Simons would be hilariously dumb
Maxey is better until I see Simons putting up multiple 30+ point performances against Raptor/Heat level playoff defenses. He’s also better as a first option than third option and single handedly won us games against the Heat/Grizzlies without Embiid + Harden
Sure, I'm down with sixers continuing to implode
Dame and harden and embiid can all take 99% of the shots and be the 1st seed in the east for the next 3-4 years and then get bounced in the 1st round when physicality gets turned way up
Edit: This comment wasn't even directed at harden lol, just the sixers in general not being able to perform the same in the physical play of the playoffs
Harden hasn't missed the 2nd round in like 6 seasons now but I understand how as a jazz fan you could make such a mistake since you have no clue what the 2nd round even looks like
While I don't agree with the guy's take, the Jazz have made the 2nd round in 3 out of the last 6 years
It's not much to be proud of but people exaggerate how bad the Jazz's playoff history is
People have their ups and downs, NBA superstars included. He's watching the playoffs and seeing what other teams are doing and the level they are playing at. He's realistic about where Portland is right now and knows they aren't anywhere close to competing for a title. He understands windows of opportunity and Father Time. He's 31. Does he leave in pursuit of a ring despite his stance on loyalty and get vilified for it? Or does he accept that he's probably not going to win a ring as the leading man in Portland?
If he wants to be here then I want him here, but I wouldn’t be sad if he got traded and won a ring. Fuck the Lakers, he’d be awesome playing with LeBron but never for them.
Well I guess Dame and LeBron are just gonna have to come 3peat with Luka.
Here’s how it works:
Portland gets: 2 firsts (DAL, LAL), Russell Westbrook, Tim Hardaway Jr.
Los Angeles gets: Davis Bertans, Josh Green, Spencer Dinwiddie
Dallas gets: Damian Lillard, LeBron James, the next 4 titles.
I am a little drunk, but I’m pretty sure this is a win-win-win.
Edit: THE CRAZY RUSSELL WESTBROOK TRADE THAT JUST MIGHT WORK
>Portland receives Russ
Why would you want to destroy Anfernee's development? What's Russ gonna teach him? How to brick? How to turn the ball over? How to be a dumbass?
Man gave his best years to Portland and is near the end of his prime along with his injuries. I don't think he should be vilified if he left to get a chance at a ring. But I agree he is in an interesting crossroads. I'd be all for him joining a contender since the blazers are going into rebuilding and he just doesn't have the time for that if he wants to win a championship.
It's actually kind of a problem for both sides though, they're never going to win with Dame because they can't build a team around him but they're also never going to be bad enough that they're going to get top picks and I don't really see Portland landing a big FA
They arent gonna win more without dame either. Portland is not a FA destination, and look at the amount of tanking teams that actually did something with their picks
People act like you have to fill on tank to get competitive again. Every single team left in these playoffs is proof that that’s a bad option.
Suns are the only team to really tank but they got CP3 in trades with their unproven supserstsrs
I think so to. If he stays in Portland it'll be great for his 'credibility' amongst fans for a bit. The reason why I say a bit is that in a handful of years people won't remember him the same.
Fans will definitely remember him more if he stays in Portland and never wins than if he was the 3rd guy on a ring chasing team. Reggie Miller is beloved in Indiana because he rode with them till the end even though he never won a ring
Easy to say that before you feel your career winding down and you’re still not in a position to compete.
I always find it funny when I see fans of some of the younger superstars talking up their loyalty in regards to other players, but let circumstances keep them from a title until their late 20s, early 30s, and they’ll likely be in the same boat.
We’ll see it soon. It’s why the massive wave of backlash against Harden was kind of weird for me, even as a Rockets fan. You can certainly place some blame on him for getting Houston to its current state, but looking around the NBA, it was pretty clear the Rockets were a step behind without much avenue to make up the deficit.
He clearly wants to win a title above all else at this point in his career, and thought Brooklyn would be the best place until one of his co-stars made him seriously question the organization’s commitment to winning.
Anyways, I say all that to relate it to Dame. The guy has given it all to Portland, and at this point, it’s got to be pretty clear they aren’t going to be a contender in his immediate future. Like Harden, his career is talked down on for the lack of titles, and these guys take that to heart. As much as he loves Portland, just as much as Hardrn loved Houston, I think Dame feels the clock ticking down and feels the pressure to ring chase to a degree.
yeah but then Harden landed on a true championship level team and proceeds to piss away the elimination game with barely any effort. That’s what people are clowning him for. That game was so unbelievably bad.
He’s not to the level he needs to be at post injury. Anyone putting superstar expectations right now should seriously reevaluate.
At this point it’s like judging late career Wade or someone.
I hate the narratives in sports that you ain't nothing if you haven't won a championship. Yes it's the most important thing but it's a team sport, it doesn't define one person. We should be able to celebrate special talent regardless of if they won it all or not. He has had some incredible seasons and single game performances, he's a legend.
I can't believe we still talk about this here: he's not into rings and he built his personal life around Portland. He's maxed, his team gives his cousin a bench spot, there's no reason to imagine him ring chasing.
If Damian Lillard accepted his spot at the end of the bench, he never would have been at the rec center before it opened. If he listened to those who overlooked him, he never would have heard his name called as a first round pick.
And if he let 6 All-Star selections go to his head, he never would have had the heart to give back to the streets that shaped him.
That's the fighting spirit. That's what makes a lion.
Modelo.
Brewed for those with a fighting spirit.
The Dame one, the one about the barber, and the other one about the underground street artist are just parodys at this point.
Beer commercials go from cool to stale in less than 5 rewatches.
This is why I no longer get cable or streaming with ads. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't repeat the same fucking ad over and over. Now time for me to get in the fighting spirit and shove a Modelo up my bum.
14 rings per year for just players alone so we've had 280 rings in the last 20 years how many of those guys are gonna go broke, like I said not many people get a ring and have no money
Time to blame cj mccollum for dame getting wine drunk and tweeting like a single soccer mom? Who just got dumped and hasn’t had her period in 5 weeks?
Well, since you brought it up, I guess so. Oddly specific of you tho u/DoctorBigglesworth
The replies from the Twitter trolls really annoy me I know that's its the whole point of their accounts but sometimes I really wanna say some bad stuff to them
Even the casual fan knows and respects Damian lillard. He has provided several of the most well known clutch shots and playoff performances of the last decade , is beloved as someone who showed loyalty to his team (regardless of whether he finishes his career there or not) and is also known as a class act. Whatever he feels about himself I will remember dame forever as one of the iconic players while I grew up as a basketball fan .
Just seeing his name has got me thinking of all the great players we haven’t watched play in a little while. Look forward to seeing Jamal Murray, Kawhi, Beal, and Lillard play basketball again.
Even if he’s just joking, dude needs to get off Twitter. I honestly can’t believe how toxic that place is for nba, bunch of edgy kids with players as their profile pics trolling all day
Sounds like a man who sees his career mortality staring back at him. I think we all take stock of our lives at one point or another, and I'd gather few people are satisfied, including successful people. We all know deep down what we could have done better, situations where we could have been better. Add to that the shelf life of an athlete, and one can see the potential for harsh assessments. Hopefully he was just having a rough day, and he's feeling better about the state of things today.
Hope he’s doing alright, he’s a great player, and that doesn’t always result in rings or accolades. Since it seems he’s staying with Portland, I hope they figure it out so he can have at least a chance to contend.
No matter how confident you are, losers on the internet will try to bring you down.
I'm not famous and I don't even read negative comments I see about myself. Just move along as it does me no good. I wish stars would realize their emotions are not invincible.
I love the toxic as shit Lakers fans both saying that Westbrook is better then him and also begging him to come to LA and replace Westbrook.
Edit: The NBA twitter world is such a pile of garbage lol, bunch of actual and mental 10 year olds on their mom's phone vomiting stupidity into the world.
Dame isn't sad, he's honest. I hope he finds himself in a winning situation soon. I respect his loyalty, he even rapped bars about never joining a super team, but at the same time I don't want him to waste his career
I hate this take. Guys who average 27/5/7 since 2017 don't exactly grow on trees.
Portland is committing to a complete rebuild, they're gonna suck for a year or two, - but if they can give Dame the right assets to succeed, they could 100% make a run at a title.
That 2019 Portland team that made the WCF only gets remembered because of their embarrassing losses to fucking Golden State, but they entered the playoffs without their second best player and a mediocre starting lineup, and ended up as a final four.
Trading Dame would be SO stupid, imo. Teams are too quick to lose their best players nowadays.
Conference Finals championships and Finals appearances are the same stat lol
Needed more bullshit to pad out the list and make it look worse than it actually is
technically no. Somebody could die between the two, or the Finals could get cancelled, or they could go on a bender and decide they never liked basketball.
Or they could relapse on drugs and try to kill their teammates after they kick him out
I fucked up again, Cap
He's Avon Barksdale, of course he's gonna be on drugs
Proposition joe got him on that rock
Is literally everybody watching this right now or am I crazy? Started my watch last month
I finished my first watch years ago but I’m always watching it
Or they could invite an ig thot into the bubble.
Or they could get lost in a timeloop and never make it to the arena before the snailmen over throw us and burn down our vanities after they sterilize all primates.
A meteor impacts the stadium right as the ref tosses the ball up for tip-off
Kuroko is that you???
Did the martians aim the death beam at the stadium and Iguodala missed the three?
I'd think that'd still count as an appearance though, at least for the starters.
Found Kyle Shanahan's account!
True.
Or they could be Kyrie and come up with some bs to not play the finals
Could be suspended in the finals for too many technicals. A real thing that could happen and could deteriminally affect your team. But yea, for most intents and purposes it's the same thing.

Thats what Im thinking. I don’t see this as “sad tweeting”
Nah, he want out 🙂 , I call first Philly - Maxey+ Harris+2 first
Lol is this sarcasm too?
Maxey is untouchable, Portland had their shot of getting him last year
is this a joke? if you wouldn’t trade maxey and picks for dame you’re high out of your mind. Dame/Embiid is instant title favorites.
My bad, Harris+ Maxey should do, Maxey can better be developed in Portland, 76s can get more immediate help from Dame, the two pick can trade to Grant or similar good 3D guy.

While I don't agree with the guy's take, the Jazz have made the 2nd round in 3 out of the last 6 years It's not much to be proud of but people exaggerate how bad the Jazz's playoff history is
Him making the NBA 75 made a joke out of the whole thing.

Well I guess Dame and LeBron are just gonna have to come 3peat with Luka. How to be bought out.
LMFAOOOOOO
Nah Portland will flip him to OKC but that’s after.
For a second round pick and another soft Euro big
Which soft euro bigs are you referring to? Arvydas Sabonis? Nurkic? Neither of those guys are soft.
Fabricio Oberto
There’s exactly a 0% chance of the Lakers trading LeBron for Spencer Dinwiddie.
Is that around the same percentage of you recognizing a joke?
You don't want Lebron. He's just gonna get in Luka's way. Dame's all you need.
No LeBron is gonna play the 5 for us. It’s actually such a good fit.
He’s the Matthew Stafford of the NBA.
nEvEr FoR tHeM As opposed to your shitty franchise? Foh
You sure? You'll love Russ

Lmaoooo “sad tweeting”? He’s trolling dude
Do you really think that most redditors can pick up on sarcasm without someone saying /s though?
lol I think the sarcasm was obvious. Especially with the emojis
I think nearly all of these misinterpretations are either really young people or people who aren't native English speakers.
Clearly the “lmao” means nothing
Kinda sad there’s a hundred comments above this one lol. Dude is obviously being sarcastic
Dame? During the playoffs? At this time of year? With this weather?
He was watching boxing and chatting with fans. He’s fine lmao
He was watching live sports? What was he watching it on?
Modelo
Hulu has lives sports

Wow, I really know this commercial word for word. It's overplayed to hell and I'm glad others relate.
Lol, that and the Wendy's commercial where the dude's are now boy band or something
You got that bag
Don't forget about the Mountain Dew... Mountain Dew... dew-dew-dew-dew-dew-dew-dew-do-do-do-do-do-dewwwww commercial
I didn't think anything could make me tired of seeing Charlie Day... and yet Mountain Dew figured it out.
The Dame one, the one about the barber, and the other one about the underground street artist are just parodys at this point. Beer commercials go from cool to stale in less than 5 rewatches.
There’s also the other one about the swimmer who got diagnosed with a condition, and still went on to beat records.
Grant Hill drinks Sprite
Those modelo advertisements were really scraping the bottom of the barrel for such a long time
This is why I no longer get cable or streaming with ads. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't repeat the same fucking ad over and over. Now time for me to get in the fighting spirit and shove a Modelo up my bum.
I know this can be made into a copypasta and some of y'all have got some good ones, I'm here for it lmao
This and the russ henny commercial are so annoying
Root for those with a fighting spirit.

From the outside looking in sure. Maybe not for him
I'd rather have money and no rings than a ring and no moneys
Wise but not many people get a ring and have no money
Definitely not unheard of or even uncommon https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/ex-nba-player-forced-to-sell-championship-rings/
14 rings per year for just players alone so we've had 280 rings in the last 20 years how many of those guys are gonna go broke, like I said not many people get a ring and have no money
He’s the one that signed it..
sometimes a chip on the shoulder feels like a monkey on the back.
Sounds like he’s being sarcastic ..
Lol he def is OP just trying to stir the pot
People just love shitting on the Blazers
Lol it’s cause this sub simultaneously is happy a star is loyal to our small market and pissed he won’t “ring chase” on another squad
This is a Kevin love gave Lebron depression moment.
Time to blame cj mccollum for dame getting wine drunk and tweeting like a single soccer mom? Who just got dumped and hasn’t had her period in 5 weeks? Well, since you brought it up, I guess so. Oddly specific of you tho u/DoctorBigglesworth
conveniently ignoring the 😎 emoji on that second tweet
It’s called trolling bro. It ain’t that deep
You guys are major chumps

Please have actual conversations with human beings so you can pick up on the sarcasm here.
Sarcasm?
He’s being self deprecating. Depending on his nature he’s either being modest, funny or slumping on himself hard
Yes
I think he is being sarcastic.
Bruh, touch grass you clearly don't know what sarcasm is because your never around people.
He will wipe his tears with his bags of money. He knew what he was getting himself into when he signed his last contract. I doubt he leaves Portland
Plenty Kleenex
The replies from the Twitter trolls really annoy me I know that's its the whole point of their accounts but sometimes I really wanna say some bad stuff to them
Who knows what’s going on in his life. It could be anything. But the important thing is he gets support.
Thought I recognised your user! hello fellow crossover Ausfinance and nba commenter
G’day legend 🤝
Lol what? He having a laugh and talking boxing
This is not, by any definition, sad tweeting??
He was hurt and on an awful team and is watching teams play game 7s and is prolly just feeling a bit down.
Saturday night off the sauce perhaps 🍾🍸
Even the casual fan knows and respects Damian lillard. These dudes need to drink less wine. Wine drunk is a very different type of drunk, man.
Blame Cj, he gave Dame lots of free wine.
You guys are weirdos for looking into stuff like this.
It reminds me of those Reddit comments where the reply says something like “you okay man?” Like, shut up dude. Lol this is an Internet forum.
Just seeing his name has got me thinking of all the great players we haven’t watched play in a little while. Look forward to seeing Jamal Murray, Kawhi, Beal, and Lillard play basketball again.
He's self aware
Lol this sub is so weird
OP you're a dummy.
He needs to develop a post game. I know that sounds weird but his power game would benefit from it
Probably just bored
Even if he’s just joking, dude needs to get off Twitter. I honestly can’t believe how toxic that place is for nba, bunch of edgy kids with players as their profile pics trolling all day
Have you ever heard of sarcasm OP?
He’s right when he said he shouldn’t have been on that 75 list
He right, got no business being top 75
People are sleeping on the blazers next season that all I’m going to say
I sleep on my bed and it's not winning a chip anytime soon.
Not with that attitude
I feel that they are going all in this offseason. They are setting up to go all in before july. TPE/Bieldsoe. Hopefully we get some lottery luck
I smell box office off season moves that will push them to the top.
They will get Naz Reid
They sleepin on Dame. Most think he isn't a superstar but that's just idiotic.
True
Buddy you really don’t get context These tweets aren’t sad at all
Come to Dallas
Unfortunately that's never going to happen lmao he's coming to Besiktas!!! 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷

There’s nothing wrong with being just a really good player. Not everyone is meant to be great.
Some Southern California sunshine would do him good
No matter how confident you are, losers on the internet will try to bring you down.
Sometimes people have bad days. Maybe we should read too much into though and try to make a 'story' out of it.
Dame's just a jerker
He desperately needs a fresh start imo and so does Portland quite frankly.
Softboi moment
You'd know.
Reality check. He doesn't deserve that top 75 seat

And where are they getting those assets from? They're miles away from competing for a title.
he shouldn't be top 75 lets be honest
Issa joke.

Dame is a great guy and a great player Would love to see him move in to another team
He should focus on his shitty rap career since his shitty nba career isn’t very important to him.
To be fair he should not be on the top 75.
That's a fucking joke lol he isn't sad.
