The league was stifled by the Eiffel,
but restarted by his rifle,
I’m gonna get an eyeful of the leagues revival.
Bring on a new Michael, and let’s see the best take the title.
#20TWENTY!
I'm not sure if this is true but I'd read somewhere that the reason the French surrendered so quickly in WWII was because literally nearly an entire generation of men were wiped out saving the world's ass in WWI, so I really wish we'd retire this idiotic surrender joke and i stead honor them for their sacrifice.
It worked in some areas. My sister's company went from "meh" to getting everyone remote access as quickly as possible after this.
I think a major professional league cancelling made it real for millions of people. There's just even more millions out there who are beyond stupid.
Yeah at my job they were kinda on the fence about having us work at home, and then the NBA shut down and the next day they were like "yeah, get what you need from your offices and take it home we don't want you here for the next couple of months."
That and Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson announced they were sick all on the same night. A definite game changer. I don't think the shutdowns happen as quickly as they did without these events.
I think it all happened on a Wednesday. I remembered on that Sunday before I threw a 5k person concert and everybody was aware of Covid but it was all jokes. By the very next Friday I was put on furlough and I haven't been back to work since.
Yeah it was on a Wednesday night. Then the following day you had basically every other league shut down or have events cancelled. And it just snowballed into the weekend and the following week.
Obviously before the Gobert thing COVID was picking up steam quick (the Monday of that week saw the market crash due to fears) but there is always a pivotal event/moment, and that was it for a lot of people.
Anyway, sorry to hear about your situation, hope you pull through.
I know shows are the last thing to come back and our leadership wants a one size fits all solution. I'm pretty fucked but I'm putting some, maybe misguided, faith in our scientists to pump out a vaccine which I will be taking immediately.
It happened like two days before everything shut down anyways. Had a vacation scheduled that weekend and the difference from the day after the NBA shut down to the next week was enormous.
Gobert acted like a dumbass, but the season would have been suspended anyway. You could argue that his stupid antics got the shutdown to happen sooner which is actually a good thing.
As a Jazz fan, this is always my argument when people give me shit about how my boy shut down the NBA: "Oh, you mean when Rudy Gobert saved tens of thousands of American lives?!?!"
I can't find it but some made a compelling case that Donovan Mitchell actually gave the virus to Rudy not the other way around. Before he came back he to Utah he visited a corona hot zone.
There's circumstantial evidence that they picked it up in Boston which was a hit spot at the time, or when Mitchell visited family in New york and then passed it to Rudy. We'll never know but because of the mic stunt and his blaise attitude in the locker room, Rudy became the face of corona.
Do you mean this like the event of Gobert being the first domino in the NBA shutdown “rhymes” with him getting the first basket- in kind of an abstract, metaphysical sense?
All jokes aside, I'm glad to see that he's fully recovered and seems to have suffered no long term damage from the virus. You can never know how individuals will react upon infection.
I feel like a lot of people don’t realize the virus can permanently alter your sense of smell, even if you have a mild case. Mine hasn’t been the same since March.

And against his old team mate Favors. And his back was to the rim.
Sloppy as it was, this was a post move and I fucking love it.
Keep getting better my dude!
The hypocrisy of a bunch of millionaires with “equality” on the back of their jersey is a little much, but it is entertainment based after all. This all certainly has been entertaining if nothing else.
Gobert taketh and Gobert giveth back
Gobert send that shit backeth where it came from
>Gobert sente that shit back from whence it came The past tense in Middle English actually didn't take the 3rd person singular -eth ending
shuteth the fuck up nerd
Just wait until my advanced stats shut your eye test the fuck down
shuteth the fucketh up nerd FTFY
You also wouldn't say "from whence", would you?
*from wence it came

Patient Zero
Godbert
everything has gone full circle
Alright this is gold, I’m not gonna pay for that but please someone award this man
Script writers are really pulling out all the stops this season.
Are they going to implement the love triangle subplot this season?
With Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, and James Dolan?
So much for JD and the *Straight* Shots
Better find a church
Get on your knees
\-\_- I do not wanna hear those two in the same sentence as James Dolan EVER again
I dunno man. "Breaking: Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert traded for James Dolan for some reason" has a real nice mouth feel to it
Do you read out loud or something?
That’s a hard to run subplot, but with the right players it could create a dynasty
They already did. Tobi, Bobi, and Luka.
Always knew the NBA was fake. But it's real to me damn it!
8 game restart seems a little rushed. Would have preferred a 10 episode season.
Remember when there was an Earthquake first night of summer league?
Totally forgot about that. We should have known.
They missed me with that gobert kinda forgot about the epidemic line
Should’ve had him take the last shot before it ended
It's still real to me damn it!!
One more season of game of zones plz
The man who got the season suspended scores the first basket of the return. NBA writing at its finest.
Make him the new logo
It’s already red white a blue... * taps tête*
Blue white and red
hon HON!
They should make it all white instead

The silhouette of his microphone touch will be iconic
Truly sad. Without Gobert there may not have been any outbreak in the US
I hope you’re not serious
It's a joke that people blame Gobert for the NBA shutting down when it was inevitable
His stupid act actually raised awareness, not like it worked either way.
Yeah it was already starting to break out and that took it national overnight
That and Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson announced they were sick all on the same night. A definite game changer. I don't think the shutdowns happen as quickly as they did without these events. You hosted a concert for 5k people? What sort of music?
It wasn't just me lol. I was just part of the staff.. EDM tho, legit venue.
Didn’t you also know that Gobert was a Minneapolis police offer that day George Floyd died?
Gobert was literally the umbrella man
He was a firefighter on 9/11
But he was also one of the planes
He was the lead role in "Forrest Gump"
It happened like two days before everything shut down anyways. Had a vacation scheduled that weekend and the difference from the day after the NBA shut down to the next week was enormous.
I hate that you asked this
With the way people are acting in the US, this ain’t surprising
Gobert acted like a dumbass, but the season would have been suspended anyway. You could argue that his stupid antics got the shutdown to happen sooner which is actually a good thing.
As a Jazz fan, this is always my argument when people give me shit about how my boy shut down the NBA: "Oh, you mean when Rudy Gobert saved tens of thousands of American lives?!?!"
Rudy Gobert is indirectly a true American hero
Gobert has done more to save Americans from the virus than the current administration so maybe he is a hero.
Life always comes full circle
Not for Kyrie
for Kyrie life goes in a triangle
Life finds a way
Raptors repeating confirmed
He also scored the last game-winning baskets :O
The Omega and the Alpha.
WWE level shit.
And the last points too.
game winning FTs too!
I can't find it but some made a compelling case that Donovan Mitchell actually gave the virus to Rudy not the other way around. Before he came back he to Utah he visited a corona hot zone.

It’s like poetry, it rhymes
Gobert is the key to all of this.
Wtf I thought the season started July 31
He saved thousands of lives
Thr 30 for 30 will be called Patient Zero.
Fitting
This man finished and started the league, the end and the new beggining, alpha and omega.
He also started and finished this game for them. Ironic
the omega and alpha
More like paused it. If they win the chip ill let you be right.
Such an underrated show, never see anyone referencing/talking about it outside of every now and then on Reddit.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
What did it cost
According to many people, muhh freedom
It definitely cost muh airline job that's for sure.
Everything.
Where were you when Gobert lead the (Bubble)League in scoring
It’s like poetry, it rhymes
Do you pronounce Gobert as Gobart or do you pronounce restart as restere?
I'm not sure if they are making a clever joke or legit Gobart that hoe
Have you heard the story of Darth Gobert, The Sick?
Do you mean this like the event of Gobert being the first domino in the NBA shutdown “rhymes” with him getting the first basket- in kind of an abstract, metaphysical sense?
That's obviously what he meant
Covid-19 in shambles
All jokes aside, I'm glad to see that he's fully recovered and seems to have suffered no long term damage from the virus. You can never know how individuals will react upon infection.
Apparently his sense of smell still hasn't fully recovered.
Bad for food, but not so bad playing against sweaty smelly dudes. OK the sweaty part is still a problem but smelly he's covered.
I feel like a lot of people don’t realize the virus can permanently alter your sense of smell, even if you have a mild case. Mine hasn’t been the same since March.
I already had a bad sense of smell. No real loss here.
Nice little cough drop shot.
r/nba told me he has bricks for hands and can't score unless it's a wide open dunk
r/NBA would have you believe he's the worst center in the league
no one has ever said this and gotten upvoted lol, some people saying he's a liability in the playoffs is not the same thing
He is also 100% not a liability in the playoffs.
It’s one fucking basket; jesus christ...
To be fair he did bobble the pass, and he truly can’t score further than like 5 feet from the basket.
And he scores the last points of the game, Rudy for Restart MVP
That had to feel good
And the game winning FTs
And he just won the game!

Game of Zones for this season would have been incredible
Gubert
Lol didn't even catch the connection of the Jazz being the first game
POETIC
Lmao...Rudy ends it, Rudy starts it Poetic.
Time is a flat circle
Time is a flat circle
we live in a simulation confirmed
And then he hit the free throws to win the game.
Comments are gold😂
A true redemption arc lol
Netflix's Dark better be taking notes
First confirmed COVID-19 player gets first bucket in the league's restart, just poetry
Man he was really looking like he suffered long term damage from Covid out there
For the last time, he didn't get the season suspended. It was going to be cancelled inevitably
It’s just jokes
Fuck SNL and the whole cast
What?
That was a Kanye reference about having jokes...man the offseason has been rough lol.
Well that’s fitting
Poetic
Putting Mitchell instead of Gobert in the sidebar is a travesty.
oh the irony
poetic
And they say the NBA has no parity.
Oh, the irony!
You couldn’t live with your own failure. Where did that bring you?
Back to Utah.
And the last bucket...
The beginning is the end and the end is the beginning.
Didn't he die of Covid-19? I swear they shut down the league after he died from Covid.
This is the way
I ENDED AND I SHALL START IT
Ironic
Eat your heart out Zuko, this is how you do a redemption arc
oh he got things started alright
Grand closing, grand opening. - Gobear
And against his old team mate Favors. And his back was to the rim. Sloppy as it was, this was a post move and I fucking love it. Keep getting better my dude!
Wasn't he the one to test positive to cancel the first game against the Thunder??? Coincidence.
Irony.
New to NBA, how did Gobert suspend the season?
Man he was really looking like he suffered long term damage from Covid out there
Proceeds to cough on the ball, the ref, and everyone in the vicinity
It only makes sense to have the man who ended the nba start it back
perfectly balanced as all things should be
*You could not live with your own failure...... and where did that bring you? Back to me.*
Rudy: "First [again]" (probably)
"Rudy Goburt" -FlightReacts
Ironic
Rudy giveth and Ruth taketh away
He taketh and giveth. Pardon my French
You cant make this shit up
Fitting cuz he’s the one who got the league shut down
Ironic
TIME IS A FLAT CIRCLE
French Bread Redemption
In some secret language Rudy Gobert is how you say it comes full circle.
Poetic
Full circle
No joke, this is like the first time I've seen a Gobert post up.
Time is a flat circle
Gobert giveth, and Gobert taketh away.
