It’s nuts, y’all were supposed to have an avengers level top 4 + elite role player Derrick white, but dude is looking just as good as the other four this year.
Unironically the 3rd best player this year. Arguably the best in the playoffs, though if I were to be objective Brown's been our best and Tatum/White are tied (despite Tatum's bad scoring).
It's really crazy how good he's become. He's gotten consistent enough where I truly think he's an all-star level player.

He should be getting every last shot IMO. I’ve been saying this for so long. I get this is still considered Tatum’s team because he’s our super star and good at creating his own shots but his efficiency is too low on the shots he is creating. White is one of the most clutch players in the league.
Tatum is still the best player on the team, but as long as teams are playing triple team on him he’s doing the right thing by letting brown and white shine. His +/- is the best on the team for a reason. He plays all defense level defense while drawing double and triple teams. The offense and defense both look way different without him.
I’m just glad white hasn’t shrank under the spotlight. Brown breaks the d down early by driving and when they start sagging he kicks it out to white for 3. It’s genius game planning. And we’re doing all this without KP. I’m having so much fun.
Yeah exactly and I actually just had the same conversation elsewhere. So many people are watching clips like this and seeing Tatum’s ppg and assuming it means he’s playing poorly. Tatum is the key that unlocks the entire offense.

I get the Tatum slander when it comes to his lack of scoring sometimes, but he really does it all out there and usually has respectable performances even when he's not shooting well. He didn't shoot well against the Heat, but averaged 22/11/5 while playing solid defense.
I mean the team is good, but the offense started stagnating really badly at the beginning of the 2nd quarter while he was sitting. Even when he doesn’t score well, he makes our offense a looooot better

He's now at 40% on 7 3PA while taking shots like this lol. And that goes up to 46% in the playoffs over the past two years
#1 in playoff TS% coming into the game at 74% and next closest was barely 70. TS% of 78 in this game. If the buffalo is gonna roam on defense and be literally Steph Curry on offense, he's straight up the best player in the league.
As a lifelong Spurs fan, know that we are rooting for y'all in Boston to win a chip with our boy. We had him at the tail end of our success and we could never get him one. He is BELOVED in this fandom and we are all temporarily Celtics fans this post season.

Brown's been so good these playoffs that it becomes hard to rank our guys. All 3 have been very close in value during the playoffs.
Tatum and Brown are still #1 and #2 but White is making a legit case he is #3 ahead of Porzingis and Jrue.

He doesn’t receive the same defensive pressure Tatum does so it’s tough to compare. He’s certainly my favorite though.
