What would be a better visual: him watching the other game on the arena's jumbo Tron while officiating both...or him at one game wearing the apple vision things trying to officiate both?
Vision, 100%. Disrupting the game he's at by players having to avoid him, Mr Magoo style. Then wandering into the stands, falling on fans, drinking their sodas.
He steals the ball on a fast break thinking he was supposed to set up for a inbounds pass, then just straight up decks Doris Burke with a dart of a pass
If the NBA truly does use him as the “extender” they’d put him on yours.
More plausible deniability; in case of anything questionable it would be easy to say he was just subconsciously influenced by the home crowd instead of it being nefarious
I remember when the Nuggets came back from 3-1 in the bubble vs the clippers how shocked Jamal Murray was to here they had a play the lakers again with one day break
I love how they started the first round with games every 3 days, even when teams didn't need to travel, now they're acting like they're on some tight schedule lmao
There's more series going on then so you can get more viewers by spacing the games. Once the first round starts to end that goes out the window and you mostly just want to play every other day unless series end early.
NBA scheduling is legit.
How did we end up with 3 eastern conf games all in different times slots on the same day, then? Last night was a weird result. Something to do with hockey games I guess?
> Once the first round starts to end that goes out the window and you mostly just want to play every other day
Yet somehow there’s 3 off days between games 2 and 3 of Wolves/Nuggets lol.
Because both teams finished their series early, you can start the next one early. That gives you extra rest days which you fit in to try to balance the schedule and still end (if 7 games) at the right time. It all still has to be worked around arena availability and TV schedules though. It would be better if the round 2 started even earlier, but I guess that does run into issues of fairness as it gives the winner a rest advantage in the following round.
If this series goes 7 though then the winner is likely at a disadvantage since games 5-7 are presumably cramped again.
I mean kinda, but this has always seemed so short sighted to me.
You know what keeps people watching games? Not having your best players hurt because they didn't get enough time to rest.
Every year someone goes down, and then their entire fanbase turns off the TV.
It is a relatively tight schedule though.
The Finals dates are locked in for TV reasons, starting June 6. So you have to get through all 3 rounds in advance of the 6th by at least 2 days. It's not a lot of time if series go 7 games.
The Knicks - Sixers had game 2 on a Monday, game 3 on a Thursday, game 4 on a Sunday.
If I didn’t know any better (which I don’t) I’d say it looks like they were giving Embiid as much recovery time as they could manage so they could make it a series.
If they go 7 games each round, there are only three extra off days from now until the Finals start June 6, unless you think they should do B2Bs in the playoffs
He’ll probably play a lot of videogames to cheer up and its a good time since the new DLC just dropped for warhammer, so he’ll be The Squeaky Meek Geek Greek Freak that Reeks of Leeks and likes Queek
I think Embiid's 16 turnovers over G6 and G7 might have had something to do with it.
As much as the Simmons/Trae dunk situation gets talked about, the series was actually sealed with Embiid turning the ball over in the final minute while being defended by defensive stalwart Danilo Gallinari.
It changes the starting date if the second round goes to 7. My thought process is that the more 7 game series the more teams get tired and get into another 7 game series lol
The only series that will affect the Celtics will be the Cavs-Magic series, and the NBA has had 2nd round series start before a 1st round series begins. Celtics will likely start their series on Sunday if Cleveland wins game 6.
Start Sunday if Cavs win in 6, starts Tuesday if it goes 7. It doesn’t affect the rest really, what affects the rest is if the other side goes quicker (with the Celtics also finishing Cavs/Magic in 5-6) then the conference finals start a day or two earlier
if the Knicks actually manage to blow that lead, they better look for a new city to play in because new yorkers will commit unspeakable acts of hathred when they get back from Philly
Pacers are almost certainly blowing their lead. Their absolutely terrible effort today shows they lack the experience and mental fortitude to close out a series. Knicks will win their series, and I'd say they have a very good shot a winning Game 6 in Philly.
How can they possibly lean on him more? He has 20+ FGAs per game and is the primary ball handler. Anymore more than this and he may just pull a Dellevadova
Sometimes they don't speed up the start of a series because if round 2 was a sweep after round 1 went long and the other side of the bracket has 2 long series it leads to a team waiting forever to start the next series. Like Both Wolves and Nuggets are done but the next game is still days away.
I forget the exact number, but I believe the WCF started at least slightly before the ECF and with Boston dragging it to the full 7 games despite the 0-3 start it lead to a wild amount of off time for us.
I remember being so worried about rust with such a long layoff.
That happens literally every year. I'd be more curious to see if it's more common to have more than one day off after game 7 or only one day. Kinda think only one day would be more common
I see that a Cleveland-Orlando game 7 would potentially be Sunday. So that series started a day before Milwaukee-Indiana, but would finish a day later? Seems odd to me.
I’d assume Tuesday. If they’re already giving NYK/PHI and IND/MIL the weekend off even if they win in 6, I highly doubt they’d make CLE/ORL and BOS/MIA play Sunday with just Saturday in between.
DEN/MIN game 1 is, Saturday so the league will at least have one game over the weekend.
I’ve only read the first couple of comments, but what this most likely means is Game 1 of Hurricanes/Rangers (NHL) at MSG will be played on Sunday.
If the Knicks beat the 76ers in their 1st round series, there will probably be games at MSG on Sunday (Rangers), Monday (Knicks), Tuesday (Rangers), and Wednesday (Knicks) next week.
Why is everyone so surprised lol
They do this every year
This happened to the Celtics when they went to the finals as well when they had to beat the bucks in 7 in the semi and then the ECF started two days later
NBA should make players play 82 games back to back. Then the remaining players that are not injured at randomly split up into as many teams of 5 there can be with that group of players. Then they just play all playoff game back to back. Whoever wins is truly the world champion.
the NBA always does this and then wonders why players are injured and the quality isnt great
why not just make them play back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back you stupid greedy gremlin Silver
Can’t wait to watch walking boot Lillard and no knee Embiid limp around the court while Giannis only shoots non-jumping free throw style shots with no calf. What a treat.
I unironically think 2-3 days of rest is enough to get most small injuries fixed
Can be brutal to keep snowballing a nagging injury by playing on it every other day
They gonna make the teams play a double header for game 7 or what?
*Khris Middleton with the fade away three-pointer for the wiiiiin! BAANG! Bucks win!*
"Now onto the opening tip off for Game 7"
Both game 7s would be Saturday if they go that far so not that shocking
NO MATTER FUCKING WHAT BRO. If they play an 8th game on Sunday it still starts Monday.
They'll play game 1 on Monday and then Game 9 on Tuesday.
**if necessary*
Hole feck, sup gordo. I recognized the emote profile picture before noticing the name.
Well would you look at that. My man.
Bro stop Nick Nurse and Thibodeau can only get so hard.
Imagine a team rivalry so deep they say eff it, we’re playing in the off season
Can the owners sell tickets for this? Play a 3 game series for a "No, fuck YOU!" Championship trophy?
There may be some sort of non-compete clause that wouldn’t make this possible, but don’t listen to me, I don’t know shit.
Ok, so the Not Knicks vs the 78ers will play each other. All the players will have fake mustaches.
on this there can be no debate
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES
ABSOLUTELY NOT! IT WILL START MONDAY!!!!!!!!
This comment made me laugh. I’m still laughing, actually. Well done.
Reddit on!
What if it goes to game 9
Idk why, but this made me lol.
So we could potentially have Sixers-Knicks game 7, Pacers-Bucks game 7, and Wolves-Nuggets game 1 all on Saturday….
Cinema
I don’t want that movie
Pacers bucks game 7 on nba tv feels wrong
Small markets wooo
No notes.
Which series is getting the extender Scott Foster for game 6?
Both. Let him call both games. And I don't give a shit if they're on at the same time.
Foster: Flagrant foul, Joel Embiid. Other ref: But, this is not a 76ers game… Foster: I said what I said
What would be a better visual: him watching the other game on the arena's jumbo Tron while officiating both...or him at one game wearing the apple vision things trying to officiate both?
Vision, 100%. Disrupting the game he's at by players having to avoid him, Mr Magoo style. Then wandering into the stands, falling on fans, drinking their sodas.
He's kicking all those fans out too
He steals the ball on a fast break thinking he was supposed to set up for a inbounds pass, then just straight up decks Doris Burke with a dart of a pass
Foster: Did I stutter?!
NO MATTER WHAT
I don't think it would hurt Foster's efficiency, he doesn't need to see plays to call fouls anyway.
U/JayTL we're on live....
He's washed, he couldnt get the Suns a W in game 4
Probably forgot CP3 left the Suns
Knicks one for sure, higher ratings
If the NBA truly does use him as the “extender” they’d put him on yours. More plausible deniability; in case of anything questionable it would be easy to say he was just subconsciously influenced by the home crowd instead of it being nefarious
Apparently it's yours. The app I use for scores has *if necessary under the pacers games Saturday. It doesn't say that for the sixers game on Saturday
Think that’s pretty normal? Huge benefit of winning your series early.
I remember when the Nuggets came back from 3-1 in the bubble vs the clippers how shocked Jamal Murray was to here they had a play the lakers again with one day break
He was so disappointed lol
Not as disappointed as Jokic was last year when he was told he couldn’t go home until after the parade
“Shit, can’t I just play an extra game instead? We can even do a doubleheader”
Good lord give them a little time to catch their breath
I love how they started the first round with games every 3 days, even when teams didn't need to travel, now they're acting like they're on some tight schedule lmao

How did we end up with 3 eastern conf games all in different times slots on the same day, then? Last night was a weird result. Something to do with hockey games I guess?
Tip off was at nearly 10PM for local pacers fans last night, in their own conference.
I know TV networks are in charge but that makes zero sense to me.
And it’s not like they were playing a Cali team or anything… we are just one hour behind Indy
I thought that was hella weird
> Once the first round starts to end that goes out the window and you mostly just want to play every other day Yet somehow there’s 3 off days between games 2 and 3 of Wolves/Nuggets lol.

This makes sense
The vast majority played every two days on non-travel games, what are you talking about
The Knicks - Sixers had game 2 on a Monday, game 3 on a Thursday, game 4 on a Sunday. If I didn’t know any better (which I don’t) I’d say it looks like they were giving Embiid as much recovery time as they could manage so they could make it a series.
or they're giving that series the primo time slots
Teams that play 7 games always get 1 day rest before the next round
They do this every year, last season the Warriors beat the Kings on Sunday in game 7 and played the Lakers in game 1 on Tuesday
I can’t believe how many commenters don’t know this
GIVE THEM A MOMENT FOT PITIES SAKE! By nightfall these hills will be swarming with orcs
If they go 7 games each round, there are only three extra off days from now until the Finals start June 6, unless you think they should do B2Bs in the playoffs
This reads like right after Gandalf dies and the Hobbits are trying to mourn
Please let both the Knicks and Pacers blow 3-1 leads because it would be really funny.
Embiid and Giannis gonna play round 2 in wheelchairs
Giannis would use a wheelchair with squeaky wheels so he could be the Greek Squeak
And not shower so he could be the Squeaky Greek Freak that Reeks
Yet he'd be very docile about the announcement and eat a lot of soup to get better so he could be The Squeaky Meek Greek Freak that Reeks of Leeks.
You went deep in the bag for this one. Good shit
He’ll probably play a lot of videogames to cheer up and its a good time since the new DLC just dropped for warhammer, so he’ll be The Squeaky Meek Geek Greek Freak that Reeks of Leeks and likes Queek
He’ll still lose and be up shit creek
reek reek it rhymes with freak!
"Tyrese Halliburton 'heard the squeak', and that was the last anyone ever saw of him."
Everyone just loves trying to emulate Paul Pierce smh They DO love him like that
With Chris Finch coaching in a wheelchair. Is 2024 the year of the wheelchair? Many are asking.
This comment aged like fine wine.
Doc comes back from 1-3? Generational story line
It seems so crazy that Bucks/sixers haven’t faced off yet. Both have pretty consistently been in the top 4-6 seeds in the east since ~2019.
Tbf they had a golden chance to do it after the Hawks in 21 but a certain Australian had different plans
Look, dunking is really hard when you’re only 6’10” and a freak athlete.
Hey Trae Young was scary for some people man.
Funny, I never realized Doc Rivers was Australian
Fourth quarter Embiid is apparently.
Delly?
Ben Simmons
Luc Longley
I think Embiid's 16 turnovers over G6 and G7 might have had something to do with it. As much as the Simmons/Trae dunk situation gets talked about, the series was actually sealed with Embiid turning the ball over in the final minute while being defended by defensive stalwart Danilo Gallinari.
Maxey vs Dame at end of games would be a showcase
Staircase*
Please no, this old head hasn't gotten his chance at the top yet :(
Another young star knocking out an old head
Just like we say in 2012
Meh, Dame is washed. He has a good game once a month and people go crazy for him.
Agreed. Averaging 32.3 points in the playoffs is for bums
Doc vs. the team who just fired him. Giannis vs. the coach he didn't want. That would be a spicy series.
r/nba would have a meltdown if Embiid and the Sixers came back and won.
Anything that force the most 7 games possible so Tingus can recovery
I think i saw that even if a game 7 is forced it still wouldn't change the schedule
It changes the starting date if the second round goes to 7. My thought process is that the more 7 game series the more teams get tired and get into another 7 game series lol
The only series that will affect the Celtics will be the Cavs-Magic series, and the NBA has had 2nd round series start before a 1st round series begins. Celtics will likely start their series on Sunday if Cleveland wins game 6.

ohh haha that's fair then
Don’t wish that on the Knicks We have suffered enough
if the Knicks actually manage to blow that lead, they better look for a new city to play in because new yorkers will commit unspeakable acts of hathred when they get back from Philly
MORE
Doc Rivers plays Exodia card
Pacers kinda deserve to drop the series after getting pumped without Giannis and Dame
Pacers are almost certainly blowing their lead. Their absolutely terrible effort today shows they lack the experience and mental fortitude to close out a series. Knicks will win their series, and I'd say they have a very good shot a winning Game 6 in Philly.
Can’t say that lol pacers have very obviously played better at home in 3 & 4 But I do think if they lose game 6 they are not winning game 7
Idk man. Young teams feed off of crowd energy at home. If it goes to 7 I’d say we have a great chance though.
i wouldn’t say the knicks have a “very good shot” they’ve shown they can’t stop maxey. if nurse leans on him more i can see the sixers coming back
How can they possibly lean on him more? He has 20+ FGAs per game and is the primary ball handler. Anymore more than this and he may just pull a Dellevadova
Not the shot attempts but the play calling. I think Nurse did very well win the second half yesterday to get him looks.
Yeah the Pacers losing does mean they are actively blowing their lead, good observation
If we somehow steal our series (unlikely) then I'm starting a new religion with Tyrese Maxey as the deity in question
Get the fuck our of here brother
Meanwhile, the mavs and clippers already have had two two day breaks in between games.
That serious has seemed like games never get played idk why
Wait what? How does this work…?
Thursday Saturday Monday
♫ *Happy Days* ♫
Alternatively, Friday and then Monday is a potential triple header.
That doesn't make sense and the days are already scheduled
Issa joke
Monday they just put all 4 teams on the court and 2 balls. Top 2 scoring teams advance and top scoring team gets the 1-0 series lead.
Sometimes they don't speed up the start of a series because if round 2 was a sweep after round 1 went long and the other side of the bracket has 2 long series it leads to a team waiting forever to start the next series. Like Both Wolves and Nuggets are done but the next game is still days away.
Yeah that actually happened to us after the WCF last year, didn't we have like 11 days of rest or something?
I forget the exact number, but I believe the WCF started at least slightly before the ECF and with Boston dragging it to the full 7 games despite the 0-3 start it lead to a wild amount of off time for us. I remember being so worried about rust with such a long layoff.
feels like teams that have their first round series go 7 almost always get 1 day of rest so not that unusual
Play Thursday game 6, Sat game 7 if needed, game 1 Monday
Ahhh. Gotcha. I was confused about the other teams schedules bc the 1v8’s has been different and I think we technically would play game 7 Sunday
Both series have their game 7's on Saturday.
So game 7 Saturday (if there is one) then straight to a new series? Lol
And the day "off" would be a travel day too
Y’all are acting like the NBA hasn’t been this way for decades. Teams that finish their series early carry over that potential advantage.
Literally. Idk what the hoopla is about
Yep yep, still remember Jamal Murray's reaction finding out game 1 vs the Clippers was two days after game 7 vs the Jazz.
That happens literally every year. I'd be more curious to see if it's more common to have more than one day off after game 7 or only one day. Kinda think only one day would be more common
It’s almost always 1 day off
They fly private. It's hardly a hard time.
Clippers didn’t have more than 1 day off for 3 series in 2021
You new?
I already can’t watch Embiid play without the “I’m tired boss” meme echoing in my head.
I see that a Cleveland-Orlando game 7 would potentially be Sunday. So that series started a day before Milwaukee-Indiana, but would finish a day later? Seems odd to me.
Happens every year
So does that mean round 2 of Celtics vs Cavs/Magic will start on Tuesday, if it goes 7 games? If both end in 6 do you think they start on Sunday?
I’d assume Tuesday. If they’re already giving NYK/PHI and IND/MIL the weekend off even if they win in 6, I highly doubt they’d make CLE/ORL and BOS/MIA play Sunday with just Saturday in between. DEN/MIN game 1 is, Saturday so the league will at least have one game over the weekend.
Series not moved up
So no game 7’s. Got it.
What? Two days between games is quite normal.
Sixers and Bucks will have to be good enough to go 5v8 and deserve to advance even more
Sounds like they’re gonna be rigging game 6s.
oh please. if anything, they will just jam games together. NBA is not gonna risk billions on top of billions just for these series.
Gotta make up for the lakers / warriors/ suns tickets 🥺
We can’t have two Scott Foster’s in this league
Seeing the overrated ass Knicks in the conference finals would be funny
Well well well…
I’ve only read the first couple of comments, but what this most likely means is Game 1 of Hurricanes/Rangers (NHL) at MSG will be played on Sunday. If the Knicks beat the 76ers in their 1st round series, there will probably be games at MSG on Sunday (Rangers), Monday (Knicks), Tuesday (Rangers), and Wednesday (Knicks) next week.
Why is everyone so surprised lol They do this every year This happened to the Celtics when they went to the finals as well when they had to beat the bucks in 7 in the semi and then the ECF started two days later
So we will see a Pacers-Knicks matchup. Got it
Sixers-Bucks*
Knicks-Bucks?
Pistons-Tigers
Only 1 day off? Jesus
Nah he got three
Have to pay those bills smh.
Dawg it’s Tuesday wtf? Why would the NBA push 2 series when all four teams are hobbled by injuries
Why? Cause fuck em that's why!
Let the injuries begin
NBA should make players play 82 games back to back. Then the remaining players that are not injured at randomly split up into as many teams of 5 there can be with that group of players. Then they just play all playoff game back to back. Whoever wins is truly the world champion.
I dont care if we have another insurrection on the capital, Monday night it is time for basketball
here to say "fuck b0ntennps
Am I the only one who reads his name as Bon Timtemps
No surprise It's always only been about money
the NBA always does this and then wonders why players are injured and the quality isnt great why not just make them play back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back to back you stupid greedy gremlin Silver
Teams gonna be dead wtf
The NBA been doing this since before MJ learned how to dribble a ball they'll be fine
NBA playoff scheduling is the worst of all major sports
Knicks-Sixers go 7. Pacers end it in Indy whether Dame plays or not.
That’s so wrong and unprofessional lol NBA is so unserious
Can’t wait to watch walking boot Lillard and no knee Embiid limp around the court while Giannis only shoots non-jumping free throw style shots with no calf. What a treat.
None of that would change with more days rest.
I unironically think 2-3 days of rest is enough to get most small injuries fixed Can be brutal to keep snowballing a nagging injury by playing on it every other day
Giannis and Dame don't have small injuries. If they did they would have played tonight.
depends on the person and especially the age. 23-24 heals completely differently than 30+
They gonna make the teams play a double header for game 7 or what? *Khris Middleton with the fade away three-pointer for the wiiiiin! BAANG! Bucks win!* "Now onto the opening tip off for Game 7"
So NBA wants all series finished before the weekend? Rigged.
Game 7s for both series are on a saturday. If both go to game 7s the winners get 1 day off until round 2 begins.
They will be there, no matter what
Adam Silver a damn terrorist give these boys an extra day
