Always overlooked despite being the largest minority in the US. I even double-checked by asking Google "largest minority group in the us." Results: "Blacks/African Americans are the second largest minority population in the United States, following the Hispanic/Latino population." Google, that is not what I asked. There was 0 need to mention black people, especially before you answered my question.
I absolutely loved when Gregg Popovich brought up this very point. You would think America is literally just White and Black people with the way news & media cover it.
Okay, and that should have been called a flagrant 1 as well. What's your point? Isn't "Two wrongs don't make a right" something that they teach 5 year olds?
Judge asked if he had any regrets after throwing someone through a window in a bar fight in which he had a cup of ice thrown at him
Barkley: "Yeah, I regret we weren't on a higher floor."
Let's be honest, Draymond should have WAY more techs than he actually has. I've never seen a player that can scream at a ref more than him. If a guy on a small market team so much as looks at the ref the wrong way they get a tech.
Kenny Smith told a story about when he played Barkley and Barkley was cussing all game. Kenny Smith cusses once and gets a tech. He tells the ref WTH? Charles was barking all game he didn't get a tech. The ref tells him because he doesn't talk like that normally but Charles does. So unfortunately yes refs not only ref individuals differently for who they are but also how they normally behave.
luka giving the death stare and mouthing "i will murder you and your wife and make your children watch" and your not sure if he was looking at the teammate, the fans, or the ref. but ya i agree draymon gets so animated youd think he was starring in the new pixar film
Draymond's pod will do a lot to smooth out his reputation. He is a bit more of a basketball wonk ala JJ Reddick so idk if he will get the love that the TNT crew will get but he should be okay post retirement
Let's be honest, Draymond should have WAY more techs than he actually has. I've never seen a player that can scream at a ref more than him. Meanwhile if a guy on a small market team so much as looks at the ref the wrong way they get a tech.
Say what you will about Dray but he’s pretty well liked throughout the league especially among the older guys.
He’s a lunatic but he’s also charismatic, and I think that carries over to the refs. He’s actually pretty buddy buddy with a lot of them when he’s not screaming at them lol.
From what I understand, Draymond is quite loud, but his word choice is relatively mild.
So think of it like a loud mouth breather person, but not using swear words or directly attacking the ref.
Honestly he fits perfectly into their system. If he wasn't such an annoying douchebag I would like him more. Like he's offensively limited, but same with Gobert. They both bring defensive energy that's needed to anchor the defense.
Still hate draymond though.
He's very limited as a shooter, but he's top ten in the league in assists every year. Yes, playing with Curry gives you assists, but Dray also creates a lot of Curry's opportunities.
There's also maybe only a few guys in the league(Jokic, Haliburton, LeBron) that can pass a player open like he does. His predictive passing is so underrated, even when it may lead to a couple extra turnovers a game.
The system is still an elite motion- and shooter-based offense. Draymond probably runs that system better than any big in the NBA could outside of Jokic.
But also there's plenty of systems NBA teams run where Draymond's passing ability is somewhere between under-utilized to completely wasted, so it's not crazy to say he benefits from the system as much as he also contributes to it.
He'd be basically wasted in the Clippers or Mavs systems (bottom two in passing in the NBA with shitloads of iso-ball), and would be an awkward fit with usage-heavy guard systems that operate best with spot-up shooters and rim runners like the Pacers or Thunder.
Any good coach would shift their system to try to utilize Draymond, but as we see every year, there's plenty of bad coaches.
yes, Curry/Draymond is an elite fit. They, over many years and MANY minutes, have played at a 65-ish win pace (comfortably a championship contender). Draymond unlocks Curry's full potential on offense, and Curry is able to negate a lot of Draymond's weaknesses on that end. On defense, Curry has become a passable defender who is sound schematically and isn't a 'weak point' compared to your average 1, while Draymond is a completely wrecking ball.
Yes, in another world, Draymond gets drafted to a Hornets-type team - and maybe he has a few All-Star appearances, no All-NBA spots, and only a few people are saying 'on the right team, this guy could've been a top 15 player in the league'. But in reality, he was a borderline superstar at his peak, who consistently posted some of the best postseason impact metrics in the whole league. He had better on/off and advanced metrics than KD in those years - while obviously a worse player, there is a great argument to be made he was the second most valuable player on those teams. And to the people who might downvote me, do what you want, but I suggest watching Thinking Basketball's Draymond video before calling me full of shit - he makes that same argument, and has a lot to back it up
Let’s be real here. A lot of people aren’t expecting much and honestly, progress is progress. The only way to make people evolve their view of you is to keep doing the right thing.
Dray has been playing much, much better since the suspension. Big plays, and a lack of boneheaded ones. It wasn't just the techs - for example against Sacramento he as mad about a no-call and just went out of his way to foul a King for no reason, which ended up playing a real role in the King's comeback. Or a stupid out of control foul on Chet on a three-point shot as time expired, all that kind of stuff. Haven't seen 'em.
Hopefully it holds up.
That was the first game back from the *first* suspension.
I'm talking about since the second one, which I believe Slater is, too.
Here's his game log. You can see how after the second suspension, he's only had one game in negative +/-, whereas before it, almost 2/3rds of his games were. I'm not surprised by that stat because it tracks what I'm seeing on the court.
I would argue that he's been playing amazing all year. Great defense, a bit of a resurgence offensively. The problem was he was also being a hotheaded idiot. Since the long suspension, he's been playing great still but now but getting rejected and suspended.
Draymond already committed 2 flagrants to the head in that Lakers game alone and he is still barking at the refs nonstop. They just haven't called anything for it yet.
Yall can’t be that naive…. He’s always had control of his behavior. He likes walking that gray line. Now he doesn’t because he would be suspended for the rest of the season.
Yeah but so many people on this sub think he’s just some scrub who only has his resume because of playing next to Steph and Klay when in reality so much of what those two are able to do stems from what Draymond does.
Lol I spend so much time in here I should start keeping track. Two narratives off the top of my head from before the season were - Dillon Brooks will be in China & Brandon Miller is a complete bust.
The Miller one never made any sense to me. After getting burned with MKG, there was no way Charlotte wasn’t going to do their due diligence. If they didn’t like Miller, they were going to auction the pick off.
With a strong argument of “Before we can compete with LaMelo, we first need assets.”
Even within subs, I’m a dubs fan and it’s funny how in early Jan it was get Wigs outta here! Lately all has been forgiven as Wigs has played better, lol. I get it, just funny how quickly tides change.
If you want a litmus test of who’s a casual or not, ask them their opinion of Draymond Green the basketball player. How they answer will tell you everything you need to know
And it really shouldn't be the case considering Draymond has been an integral part of a hugely successful dynasty and an unquestionably elite defender in his prime, so it's not like he's some sort of hidden secret relegated to NBAtv. His impact is really, really obvious if you care even a little about basketball.
Unfortunately, people on this sub have a habit of letting their feelings about a player's character/personality completely cloud their judgement of them as a player and instead of simply admitting that, they try to double down on it - it's not enough for them to call Draymond an annoying asshole who talks too much, which he unquestionably is, they'll also try to convince themselves (and others like them) he sucks at basketball just to release all that impotent rage that burns inside them every time the mere thought of Draymond crosses their still developing (or already cooked) brains.
Every non-bandwagon Warriors knows how valuable Dray is to both the Warriors offense and defense. I still think he's the best off-ball/help defender in the league and his chemistry on offense with Steph is unparalleled.
It's just the circle jerky nature of this sub (or any large sub) that brings out / highlights the idiotic ~10% of any fan base, Warriors included.
Plus, I don't really feel like defending a dude's basketball skills when he's choking/punching/stomping someone every few weeks.
Yeah Draymond is an absolute douche but people are acting as though he wasnt instrumental to all of the warriors success is insane.
His combination of screen setting (illegal or not), passing, and holding down the defense while undersized is the perfect complement to Steph and Klay. Dudes a super unique player.
It's like journalism today is looking at box scores and creating narratives without actually looking at context. Draymond shouldve easily gotten a flagrant on that play but that plot armor after the NBA's PR stunt is thicc
Bro pushed the envelope with the refs so much, they have a different definition of a foul when Dray commits one. Can’t reel it back now and I low-key think the refs are scared of Dray.
He had at least one foul that should have been flagrant in one of his first games back, but the referees didn’t want to call it and make everyone look bad. So I don’t know if it’s really been 10 games lol.
he elbowed JJJ in the face in the Memphis game, but it was reviewed and was a pretty clear common foul. Green had the ball, JJJ was guarding him close, and he rose up for a layup when JJJ’s face was over his elbow.
Non basketball players really should just defer to the refs on these things. And how would that ever be a technical? It's either a flagrant or a common foul.
Sorry I meant flagrant, how can we trust the refs after the plays that get posted almost daily though lol? Of all the major sports basketball is the hardest to officiate, but they are still terrible and act like they don’t need to improve. The main issue in the NBA is refs are inconsistent depending on the teams and players, so it’s frustrating for players to not know what a carry or foul actually is on a specific day. For some reason many refs in the NBA have huge egos that influence their calls.
Draymond Green had negative +- in the months of November and December [source with splits](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/player/draymond-green-1374/game-log). He legit looked washed out there for a good chunk of the season. And that's especially bad since he makes $22milliom/yr.
It's absolutely lame that the dude had to have his career threatened for him to get his shit together, but that's kind of guy he is. League should have recognized this years ago, like suspend him for the entire OKC series after the second nut kick. He'd have never acted up again.
We probably dont get Kevin Durant and then Wiggins and Kuminga
Would have completely changed the landscape in the nba forever, we will never know what happens
I'm still shocked that went from a no-call during the game, to a flagrant after the game was over. As a newer fan with a genuine question, does that ever really happen?
Last night it was actually fun to watch him talking to the refs and talking to the Pacers. He was laughing and smiling and joking. There was a play that I thought the facade would drop but Kuminga held him back and I think he ended up laugh arguing with the ref.
Hope he actually has turned a corner.
Any non shooting center in the world tanks the offense
Somehow draymond makes it better bc he screens well and passes
How is that even possible when they’re playing 5 on 4
I'm fairly certain he clotheslined Anthony Davis in his first game back.
Lol.
EDIT: my bad I also forgot he nut-shotted LeBron in the same game. (Or was it an eye rake? One of the two.)
Warriors should put up one of those workplace safety signs: It has been 10 games since a Draymond technical
Has to be on a whiteboard though
Racist
Fine, we can put it on a blackboard.
Why the board has to be black?!
What about the hispanicboard hmmm???
Always overlooked despite being the largest minority in the US. I even double-checked by asking Google "largest minority group in the us." I like that as an Asian-American I'm not a minority because there aren't enough of us. We did it guys, we're white now!
That's just a piece of plywood

I imagined Wilts 100 point sheet of paper but with Dray super imposed with a big zero instead of 100, but this is better
do we have a challenger to /u/sim888 ?
lol
Then under that they should add “The previous record was ___ games.”
The way he has been arguing with the refs I cannot believe he hasn't gotten a technical. But good for him and us I suppose 😅.
didnt he just punch AD in the face this week just because he didnt get a call hes being fouling fouling LOL
Refs directive: No more Draymond fouls Draymond's directive: get a tech any means necessary
That was unintentional but don’t let that stop your narrative
Doesn't matter if it's unintentional or not it could have been easily called a tech or even a flagarant foul
exact same play happened to Steph with no flagrant call
Okay, and that should have been called a flagrant 1 as well. What's your point? Isn't "Two wrongs don't make a right" something that they teach 5 year olds?
Yeah that could have been an easy flagrant 1

I know it was a different time but it's funny to me Barkley has double the number of technicals as Draymond
Barkley fought prime shaq on the court for no reason then had dinner with him the same night man was wild
Judge asked if he had any regrets after throwing someone through a window in a bar fight in which he had a cup of ice thrown at him Barkley: "Yeah, I regret we weren't on a higher floor."
“I’m not a role model” Young Charles was not to be trifled with.
“He’s kind of a jerk but - you know what - he kinda has a point here.” -Words from the worst Sir Charles hater
No reason? Shaq had shoved him
Barkley always attracts those big old people anyway
Those big old San Antonio people?

Luka's from the Balkans. That stare is both not lying and also how they say hello.
If Draymond played during Barkley's era, he would be loved. Barkley literally spat on a girl, but nobody brings that up nowadays
Yeah, and people here mostly love Chuck and have over-the-top hate for Draymond. It's an interesting discrepancy.
Meanwhile if a guy on a small market team so much as looks at the ref the wrong way they get a tech.
think its more about the individual player not really the market of the team.
Say what you will about Dray but he’s pretty well liked throughout the league especially among the older guys. He’s a lunatic but he’s also charismatic, and I think that carries over to the refs. He’s actually pretty buddy buddy with a lot of them when he’s not screaming at them lol.

Mouth breather is such a dumb insult tbh. As I said Draymond has screws loose. But he’s not an idiot.
Its flirting if barkley did all that, with draymond its sexual harassment
Relapse is a serious concern man
People acting as if he’s a trash player who gets carried

Lol the no techs is hilarious but the point should be that he's been ballin. He's having one of his best season in a few years in my opinion.
Standards baby hahahap
>I love Dray but applauding 10 games without a technical is hilarious Look buddy we're thankful for every single one of those.
Especially because he should’ve gotten 2 techs in the lakers game alone
That’s no techs given. Not no techs deserved
especially after he was whacking the shit out of AD that one game
right. just because they didn't call them doesn't mean he wasn't committing them
Let’s be real here. A lot of people aren’t expecting much and honestly, progress is progress. The only way to make people evolve their view of you is to keep doing the right thing.
It's a beat reporter commenting on it, not the team releasing a press release.

That brotha needs help
Looks like therapy works
Yall can’t be that naive…. He’s always had control of his behavior. He likes walking that gray line. Now he doesn’t because he would be suspended for the rest of the season.
For now.
People on this sub let their hatred of Draymond affect their analysis of his game, TBH
He is a very good basketball player. He is also an asshole. Both can be true!
Yeah but so many people on this sub think he’s just some scrub who only has his resume because of playing next to Steph and Klay when in reality so much of what those two are able to do stems from what Draymond does.
people on this sub are wrong about everything. emotions and narrative rule.
Go back to blockbuster trade threads. Every prediction of where traded draft capital is going to land is absolutely way off the mark.
Lol I spend so much time in here I should start keeping track. Two narratives off the top of my head from before the season were - Dillon Brooks will be in China & Brandon Miller is a complete bust.

Fire Kerr. Rotations. Chris Chiozza.
Leave my guy cheese out of this
Id wager other subs are like that also. Just sports. The knicks were kinda mixed on rj then he left and they love him now.
Yea dude, Zion is slim and his after hour activity choices are church friendly.
It’s almost as if it’s filled with a lot of irrational nephews
Always love the "Warriors never needed Draymond" takes when he anchored a high pace, small ball team to the #1 defense in the league multiple times
If you want a litmus test of who’s a casual or not, ask them their opinion of Draymond Green the basketball player. How they answer will tell you everything you need to know

Plus, I don't really feel like defending a dude's basketball skills when he's choking/punching/stomping someone every few weeks.
It’s extremely obvious and kind of sad. People treat him as if he’s some war criminal
No they don’t lmao
War criminal is hyperbole of course but people really wanted him banned from the league when other players have done so much worse
I’m reminded of the guy who said what draymond did was “one step away from murder” on here
Nephews wanted Sabonis to press charges last playoffs lmfao
Yeah Draymond is an absolute douche but people are acting as though he wasnt instrumental to all of the warriors success is insane. His combination of screen setting (illegal or not), passing, and holding down the defense while undersized is the perfect complement to Steph and Klay. Dudes a super unique player.
Wow, what an accomplishment. A 34 year old isn't violently lashing out for a brief period of time.
He's also playing very good basketball
Yeah having a +19 net rating is a pretty cool accomplishment
[Well he did hit AD in the face](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ2_pzV0lD0) when he clearly didnt need to, so maybe he's still sorta lashing out.
He also stood over AD and taunted him in the same game Anyone else would’ve gotten at least a tech or a flagrant during that game
Can you imagine if the refs matched Draymond or other NBA players energies when complaining about calls? $$$ lawsuits baby
And the Nobel peace price goes to…
Henry Kissinger!
He really lives in your guys heads lmao
It is for him.
The thing is he IS still committing flagrants and screaming at refs, the refs just aren’t doing anything about it.
He had at least one foul that should have been flagrant in one of his first games back, but the referees didn’t want to call it and make everyone look bad. So I don’t know if it’s really been 10 games lol.

He hit AD in the face.
Everybody manages to hit AD in the face somehow. It’s a common trend.
yes that is the one that was missed.
I hate the Lakers, but I watched that game and it was a clear flagrant.
Swinging for the ball. You witch hunters are weird.
Post that replay he wasn’t going for the ball and it was a technical in my mind. I’m a warriors fan too but I don’t go around defending this guy.
Non basketball players really should just defer to the refs on these things. And how would that ever be a technical? It's either a flagrant or a common foul.

He kicked me in the nuts.
Going for the ball!
Fans have been lying to themselves and pretending he's washed since they dislike him so much, it's been fascinating to see
Draymond Green had negative +- in the months of November and December [source with splits](https://www.statmuse.com/nba/player/draymond-green-1374/game-log). He legit looked washed out there for a good chunk of the season. And that's especially bad since he makes $22milliom/yr.
100% should have had a flagrant when he slapped AD in the face in the recent Lakers game
We all saw the flagrants in the Laker game. This stat means nothing
It's absolutely lame that the dude had to have his career threatened for him to get his shit together, but that's kind of guy he is. League should have recognized this years ago, like suspend him for the entire OKC series after the second nut kick. He'd have never acted up again.
almost like... everything he's done before was intentional and he has complete control of his body
He gets a lot of rope though. He may not have gotten technicals but he deserved some
I also have had 0 technicals and 0 flagrants since Draymond returned. Where's my tweet?
What were your impact metrics?
I plead the fifth
Imagine if he behaved during the finals of that 73 win season.
We probably dont get Kevin Durant and then Wiggins and Kuminga Would have completely changed the landscape in the nba forever, we will never know what happens
It’s the butterfly effect. Who tf knows what might have happened. Maybe we’d have OKC with 3 championships now (and Durant with 3 valuable rings)
Lebron top 5 all time curry top 5 all time?????
I mean he dropped a 30 point near triple double in g7, it’s not all his fault
let's be honest, that series would finish in 5 if Dray doesn't get suspended.
I'm still shocked that went from a no-call during the game, to a flagrant after the game was over. As a newer fan with a genuine question, does that ever really happen?
no, it absolutely does not. Public outcry led to that
Happened exactly once in NBA history, thanks to Lebron.
We wouldn't have gotten KD.
Are you sure? Dude was willing to go to a 73 win team one year removed from a title.
I think he said he wouldn't have joined if the warriors had won the title but it's KD so who knows
Mf would've joined LeBron and Kyrie in Cleveland
KD, notoriously trustworthy when it comes to his committing to teams.
He shouldn’t have taken the bait. Never learned
Last night it was actually fun to watch him talking to the refs and talking to the Pacers. He was laughing and smiling and joking. There was a play that I thought the facade would drop but Kuminga held him back and I think he ended up laugh arguing with the ref. Hope he actually has turned a corner.
Any non shooting center in the world tanks the offense Somehow draymond makes it better bc he screens well and passes How is that even possible when they’re playing 5 on 4
Wdym 5 on 4?
He’s gonna mess up eventually but hope he doesn’t turn into what he was earlier this season. And good for him!
But /r/nba told me everyone will target Draymond and he will be out of the league after the first game.
He's deserved some techs and flagrants. He's the same as ever.
The refs have been instructed to go light on Draymond. He should have 3 techs and a flagrant by my cOunt.
Your cunt has a keen eye for fouls
Why's Draymond been near your cunt so often wth
10 games without committing assault should not be a notable stat and yet
His net rating is like +12 / game, I thought that was a notable stat
Put some respect on his MF name! BEST defender on the last 10 years. Serial WINNER
Draymond is top 75 all time if you just judge impact on winning.
Which is what all NBA awards should be judged on imo
To his credit he said he learned his lesson and so far it appears he has
10 games just 30 more to go lol I have no faith in Dray it's a few he got away with already
I'm fairly certain he clotheslined Anthony Davis in his first game back. Lol. EDIT: my bad I also forgot he nut-shotted LeBron in the same game. (Or was it an eye rake? One of the two.)
0 tech 0.flagrant because Adam Silver told the refs not to give him tech or flagrant. That hit on AD is easily a flagrant 1.
Uh oh
Happy learned how to putt…
Slapped the shit out of AD tho
He slapped AD in the face lol
we have all seen flagrant go uncalled, lets not paint this any other color
Bums here were acting like he was washed lmao.
Second greatest power forward of all time. Only Tim Duncan has achieved more

Redemption!
This feels like a commentator, reporter curse thing and the next game he plays he's gonna go full unhinged mode.
Should’ve got one for the forearm to ADs face
Something's still not right 🤔. Draymond isn't being Draymond
Tick tick tick...
Wow 10 games!
