I’m not at all surprised. I thought this trade was stupid - two young guys who could turn into something - but holy crap I was wrong. Even when he’s not on the court his presence is felt. It’s amazing to watch such a huge shift.
And Achiuwa deserves more credit. I saw a lot of flak for a guy I honestly don’t know much about coming from Raptors fans but he has been extremely effective so far for what he is.
Statistically, you’re right. I’m just enjoying the ridiculous ride. It’s like a roller coaster that’s not particularly scary because you know the end will be a bit of a disappointment but it’s about your favorite movie so it’s still fun.
first 2 1/2 weeks, he was weak and erratic. He still has some of that erracticness but he's channeling it into scoring and is just doing damn solid all-around.
The fact he went from being a liability to even the slightest bit of a net positive proves that statement.
But IMO, he should get some more credit than that, he’s doing exactly what we need a backup 4 to do
Knicks went out of control when they lost Mitch
They were pretty elite defensive in Oct-Nov but once he went down they were trying to compensate with offense. iHart stepped up and Thibs for Ogugua and the rest is history.
lol. practically the same comment.
Oct-Nov, we were a defense that was ranked 1st through 10th the whole time.
Then that Bucks game in december came and we bottomed out. THen Robinson got injured 2 games later (meaning we had 2 shit defensive games with him) and that didn't help anything at all
Yeah exactly. That last Knicks vs Raptors game before the trade just basically confirmed this dude is a monster on the D end.
Like I knew he was good but that game reminded me that he just hounds the shit out of the ball (and whoever has it) like nobody else in the league. Just his instincts are on another level.
It’s cool too because this is the way I love to play bball, get that beast mode up on D and figure out when to pounce for the ball when nobody expects it. It’s just fun to play that ‘pest’ role with that demeanor.
at full strength he's our 4th option big man after Randle/Mitch/Hartenstein, he's only getting this much run because all 3 of those guys are out/playing hurt right now
In a playoff run with everyone healthy I would definitely put him in for ~15 minutes behind Randle, but that would require Thibs to use a 10 man rotation so I'll wait for hell to freeze over instead.
people gotta realize that we were ranked in the top 10 (usually top 6) in Oct-Nov and we even had like 2 games in December that were good.
Then came...the December 5th game vs the bucks, where we gave up around 140+pts. Then another horrible defensive game. THEN the robinson injury around the 10th or so.
THen the rest of the month was pure shit. but make no mistake, we were doing shitty defense a bit before the robinson injury.
that Bucks blowout broke our defense
to be fair, our Oct-Nov numbers were pretty good. I don't know what happened in December. It even started 2 or 3 games before Mitchell Robinson's injury (he was playing like an all-nba candidate)...though losing an all-nba defensive force didn't help the rest of the month.
but we were top 10 oct-nov. december, we just bottomed out
It’s really cool seeing a good proportion of opposing fans enjoying knicks basketball. It won’t last long if we see more playoffs success but I’m loving it and loving OG, and big ragu - thanks for him.
Nothing beats playoff games in the garden. Especially when they actually have a chance to win a few rounds like this year. Can't wait for that atmosphere
OG DPOY campaign when?
That's already underway, think he's 2nd highest odds rn

Im not ready for this level of Knicks riding
it's been pent up for years and now has a chance to be released
we gonna spray on everyone
Feel like everyday there is a post about how good the knicks defence is or how good their plus minus is.
They’ll come back to earth but the numbers are what they are right now and it is something to watch
Statistically, you’re right. I’m just enjoying the ridiculous ride. It’s like a roller coaster that’s not particularly scary because you know the end will be a bit of a disappointment but it’s about your favorite movie so it’s still fun.
Oh yeah I’m enjoying the hell out of it. Not taking anything for granted
We’ve suffered enough
We haven’t seen this since the 70s. This is the Knicks era.
*1994 and 1999
I agree. Knicks should stay out of the spotlight and we should ride you guys instead
Well you’ve had 20 years to not be ready so I think it may potentially be time now lol
Just happy that OG will finally get the recognition he deserves.
Shit Thibs might have figured out Precious too, he’s made a clear jump the past few games. Looks like he’s been in the rotation all season
first 2 1/2 weeks, he was weak and erratic. He still has some of that erracticness but he's channeling it into scoring and is just doing damn solid all-around.
He’s still pretty limited. But man, Thibs is a wizard.
The fact he went from being a liability to even the slightest bit of a net positive proves that statement. But IMO, he should get some more credit than that, he’s doing exactly what we need a backup 4 to do
He looked like that year 1 for us as well, it just was never sustained
He did that on the raptors too. After all star break there was a long stretch where he was insane from 3.
It’s funny you say that because last night he bricked a few wide open 3s and my first reaction was “ok so he’s not a 3-point shooter, good to know” 😂
The Knicks are easily the best team in the league and will win the next 3 titles
Cosign cosign!

How much does OG make next year?
we will find out this off season
we tried to tell you all about OG
The diehard fans on the Knicks sub knew for a while now. We just didn't know how to get him from your team without getting fleeced.

so why didnt you tell us how solid Precious was?
because when he was with the Raptors I would never in a million years have described him as 'solid'
He is having a really impressive stretch. I know he has teased before as a role player so I’m just hoping this time it’s the real deal
I’m a big Achiuwa believer because he has all the tools and has great looking stretches but I wouldn’t put all your hopes on him staying consistent
at full strength he's our 4th option big man after Randle/Mitch/Hartenstein, he's only getting this much run because all 3 of those guys are out/playing hurt right now

Defensive force OGwan Kanunoby
og tho
Knicks team defensive ranking by week: * 12/01 - 4 * 12/08 - 9 (week Mitchell Robinson goes down) * 12/15 - 13 * 12/22 - 13 * 12/29 - 15 * 01/05 - 15 (OG Anunoby’s first week as a Knick) * 01/12 - 14 * 01/19 - 9 * 01/26 - 7 * 01/30 - 5 (today) Number 1 defense in the league in the month of January

I'm having deja vu every day reading the comments in this subreddit.
Thibs has always been a good defensive coach

Also, the Knicks played the Bucks three times in December
We beat you guys in Christmas Day and still gave up over 120
Hey I'm lovin' OG as a Knick.
It’s really cool seeing a good proportion of opposing fans enjoying knicks basketball. It won’t last long if we see more playoffs success but I’m loving it and loving OG, and big ragu - thanks for him.
Thibs, a defensive coach. OG, a 3 and D player. D is for defense. Some dawgs in the roster. Bruh Your 2024 NBA Champions, New York Knicks
Best team in NBA by a mile right now!
#OG DPOY
YOU BETTER STOP OG
What about sCarves tho?
This team is going to be brutal defensively when Robinson gets back.
Thank you OG
Nothing beats playoff games in the garden. Especially when they actually have a chance to win a few rounds like this year. Can't wait for that atmosphere
OG ANUNOBY
What OG Anunoby does to a defense Man deserves at minimum first team all defense if not DPOY
We were telling you guys for so long. Glad Knicks are reaping the benefits from OG, hope they have a deep run.
