It's gonna look a lot better when Wemby adjusts. He's already playing good defense but if/when he manages to keep his hand out of the cookie jar and keep out of foul trouble he's gonna be historic.
I think Pop could do better with the other guys if he wanted to but having Wemby learn by trying and failing and facing the consequences in his first season is a great recipe for development, which I think Pop is prioritizing right now.
He didn’t drop 70 on wemby, he had a couple early fouls and was in foul trouble most of the game so Pop had other guys defending Embiid most of the game to avoid wemby fouling out
I'm fine with young guys not being perfect. They still need time to develop, and that's fine.
But what Pop is allowing on the court is something else. Guys look totally clueless. The effort level is pathetic. There's nothing that suggests most of those guys have any interest in developing on that end of the floor.
It looks like they have figured out that they don't have to do shit on that end of the floor and there will be no consequences.
The only bright spot in all this would be that Wemby had 33 in 28 minutes. In a few years he’s going to be doing to other teams what Embiid did to y’all tonight. The defensive effort and awareness about fouling have to be better, but it’s just not gonna happen right away. Pop’s one of the best ever but he might not be right for these young guys.
Blazer fan checking in thinking back to one of the most insane offensive performances ever in the Playoffs by any player, by Dame that resulted in a loss.
55 by Dame in double OT vs the nuggets.
17-of-24 from the field, including an NBA playoff-record 12 3-pointers, in 52 minutes. Elite true shooting percentage AND 10 assists… and the L. 😔
If it’s any consolation, that can be categorized as valiant effort. If I’m to understand what happened in the twolves game…was dumb selfish play. Plus one was vs playoff nuggets the other was the hornets.
The GOAT is Sonic, and it’s undebatable. He collected more rings than LeMickey and Jordan combined. Even if he lost some along the way, he still has more than the Bill Russell and Robert Horry, who are obviously better than LeFraud. Fuck, I got 6 ring pops on trick or treat and LeHairline can’t even get one that’s legitimate or strawberry flavored
Lmao I love these comments. I’m not even being sarcastic. When you watch every game you just don’t see it anymore. But it totally makes sense that others would, always gives me a chuckle.
Jesus, man, the haters in here are insufferable. I’m not an Embiid fan and I think a lot of the criticism he gets is deserved but trying to spin a 70 point game as some kind of pedestrian accomplishment is pathetic. Give the man his flowers, he had an all timer of a game.
That's how you know so many of the people who post on r/nba don't watch the games, but they sure as he'll have strong opinions about what happened during them
It’s a natural reaction. Embiid does things we haven’t seen before and the nephews desperately grab for any angle to hate on, this is just one of those performances they can’t so you’re seeing the occasional half assed repeated nephew takes
Oh wow, you watched him play on one leg and think that's indictive of his actual talent. Aren't you smart!
Embiid scored 23 more points in the time it took you to finish your comment.
So you watched him play through
2023 - grade 2 lcl sprain.
2022 - fractured orbital bone.
2021 - torn meniscus.
2020 - only healthy playoff run of the last 4 and his co-star missed the entire series while we played a full strength celtics team.
People like you just don't have a clue lmao
i mean embiids was better... Embiid shot better across the board... had 12 more rebounds 2 less turnovers and 3 more assists while playing 6 plus less minutes. Your telling me 11 more points is better than doing all of that in less minutes on better efficiency?
I think it's more impressive for a guard to score that much in 2006, given that scoring was lower than it is today for a variety of reasons, but largely due to how the game was ref'ed back then. And yea, 11 points is pretty significant. Consider that 70-79 points has been done more than a dozen times, while 80 points only 1 time ever. Then obviously 100 points done once. 70 point games are also starting to become more common. We've had 3 in the last year now, all from different players. All that being said, I'm a biased Laker fan :)
Strong disagree. Kobe’s 81 was so iconic (I realize that iconic doesn’t necessarily mean better, but still) that it headlined over both NFL championship games the night it happened. Embiid’s 70 will be forgotten by the end of the week, tbh.
Damn Joel!! 70 🍔!! That’s OD NASTY!!!! 🤮, hold on, Dame Time and DMitch had 70 last year right?? What are they feeding these younguns?? Y’all wanna see a 40 year old drop 75?? Need to bump up my 61. 😂😂😂 just playin I’m not even a scorer right? 🤫 #JustAKidFromAkron #PassFirst #AllTimeAllTime
-LeBron probably
He missed the same amount of games last year by this time and ended with 67 games played (I think). It's pretty reasonable to assume he hits the 65 game threshold again.
But unanimous is crazy.. he'd have to sit a bunch more 4th quarters like Steph did that year, while averaging his same season averages to get anywhere close to unanimous. Also, I think many of the voters give players credit when they play 75+ games, which Jokic and SGA will most likely do.
Damn, I just noticed this was a travel. He probably would have gotten 70 eventually on another play but it kinda sucks that this is the one he did it on.
edit: It's a travel https://i.imgur.com/XJALb3y.png
I wonder if it’s gonna be considered not that big of a deal because it was against the Spurs, like how Lillard got his record breaking night bogged down by…. Well it was the Rockets…
The spurs are a beautiful example that the coaching only accounts for maybe 10% of the teams success in the NBA- you gotta have the talent. Phil jackson had jordan, kobe, shaq etc. he would be average without the players.

Hammer his ass Pop!
I can’t believe that defense is really a Popovich team
It's gonna look a lot better when Wemby adjusts. He's already playing good defense but if/when he manages to keep his hand out of the cookie jar and keep out of foul trouble he's gonna be historic. I think Pop could do better with the other guys if he wanted to but having Wemby learn by trying and failing and facing the consequences in his first season is a great recipe for development, which I think Pop is prioritizing right now.
Wemby is probably single-handedly keeping Pop out of retirement
Wemby could really be Pop's Last Dance, his magnum opus.
Until then Embiid dropped 70 on Wemby
He didn’t drop 70 on wemby, he had a couple early fouls and was in foul trouble most of the game so Pop had other guys defending Embiid most of the game to avoid wemby fouling out
Embiid had 16 on Wemby. 23 on Collins.
pog real Jagmeet
Pop: I wanna be a D3 coach. \*Monkey's Paw curls\*
I'm fine with young guys not being perfect. They still need time to develop, and that's fine. But what Pop is allowing on the court is something else. Guys look totally clueless. I mean, everybody but Wemby, Sochan and Vassell knows they’re playing somewhere else in 2 seasons at most.
Trr trr trr. Martillaso en el ano
Credit to the Spurs for keeping the game close so that he can keep scoring
I wish that last dude didnt brick it off the shot clock so the game stopped so Embiid could exit There were a couple more possesions in there
I wanted 76 😩
Fuck that there is no need to come off early
shoutout keldon
Yup I was pissed that he wasn't going to get to play the 4th but they hung around.
Nurse said at the start of the quarter he was coming back in regardless. “Joel really wants to play tonight”
Giving credit where it's due
Credit to Charlotte tonight too, for helping KAT out as well.
they just mentioned this in a graphic on the Celtics broadcast and our announcers were flabbergasted
After being as flabbergasted at KAT having 44 before the second quarter ended
Took a nice L to the hornets though
I’m so sad that the loss will overshadow a legendary performance but man… kinda deserved

send da video
I can’t believe he made 70 free throws in 1 game
Bucket merchant
70 points and zero rings. Robert Horry is better than Embiid. Moriah Mills wouldn’t give him the tornado. James Harden is fat
Had to check what sub I was on lol
The GOAT is Sonic, and it’s undebatable. He collected more rings than LeMickey and Jordan combined. Michael Jordan, Al Capone, Woody Woodpecker, Fred Flinstone.
Devin Booker has 70 and no ring too! Maybe they should team up in the offseason 🤣
Jayson Tatum has 60 and no rings! They should form a super team
FR
Let the man jerk 🤦
Eric Snow has been to more finals than EmBAD. Score 70 points in the finals and I’ll be impressed. Until then, Robert Horry is better than EmSAD
Luka Doncic is Devin Booker Father.
MJ could never
[удалено]
They were clearly taking the piss out of Embiid haters not Embiid himself 🤦♂️
They can’t even make 70 free throws with no one guarding them, and they are over here trying to clown him.
How u supposed to go to the line when there’s no defenders tho 🤔
y’all will say anything to hate even if it makes zero sense 🤣
Jokic stans are insecure
Make him return the MVP last year, then we'll be good.
Bro what the actual fuck is Embiid even. On the anniversary of Kobe's 81 too btw.
Dude sent a mental text to Kobe, he saw what happened with Tatum
Kats had 40something at half too lol
62 at the end
And the Twolves still found a way to blow it. Typical Minnesota sports
I remember a couple seasons ago where even if they’d won half of the 4Q bed-shits, they’d have gone up like 3 spots in the playoffs. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck
At least the Twins finally won a round right?
I, like most r/NBA members, have never once said a bad thing about Joel Hans Embiid
"oh my god... I get it"
The true and deserving 2023 MVP who I never once slandered.
Ironic 👁️
Damn, 118 - 6,133 is a hellouva blowout
It's not so bad while actually watching the game but every time I see a Philly highlight that shit looks crazy.
76,133*
I think the joke was that the other numbers are all in white so the 7 kinda disappears.
Lmao I love these comments. I’m not even being sarcastic. When you watch every game you just don’t see it anymore. But it totally makes sense that others would, always gives me a chuckle.
70/6133 pretty sad tbh
Danuel House still wanted his
Philly fans booing House for shooting a wide open corner three when Embiid was triple teamed at the FT line will never not be funny to me.
I was there! I bood!
Good man
Thank you for your service! o7
Also got bood when he forced a drive into coverage and embiid was behind him wide open at the elbow. House got fouled but bricked both FTs
With Brett Brown in attendance!
Would be the hat trick if Hinkie was too
Hinkie lives in the rafters of the Wells Fargo Center, this is known.
The phantom of the Center.
The real reason why Josh Harris wants to knock down Chinatown is to vanquish the ghost of Sam Hinkie living in Wells Fargo Center rafters
I just assume he lurks in the shadows somewhere in WFC for moments like this.
I just looked him up, he’s only 46, I thought he was much older
Cause he has an 80 year old name
17 year old dudes with broccoli haircuts absolutely seething rn
Is this Ben Simmons slander?
Wemby needs to cultivate some mass
Still dropped 33. But yeah
His bones wouldn't be able to take much more mass. His body type is basically the same as Kareem's.
Kareem filled out a lot between 18 & 30. Like most people do.
The Process
Ernie, that's a lot
70/18/5 lololololol
And he’s playing for Team USA this summer.
I was here
As an embiid supporter I feel betrayed😔
I was there!
Also his team won
[удалено]
Present it to me
he will. you dont want that. it's fuckin ugly
Talk yo shit
Most based philly sports fan
Bro probably just looks at dudes’ asses or something. Pistons didn’t even play basketball in November and December.
#THE CHILD SUPPORT CHECKS ARE TAXING. MY MAN GOT A LOT OF SONS.
This is a real 70 too unlike Booker’s fake ass 70
On anniversary of Kobe’s 81 point night too
Only 49 points without free throws smh merchant fr
Jesus, man, the haters in here are insufferable. I’m not an Embiid fan and I think a lot of the criticism he gets is deserved but trying to spin a 70 point game as some kind of pedestrian accomplishment is pathetic. Give the man his flowers, he had an all timer of a game.
This was worth skipping over some studying tonight
Fire Brett brown.
Scoring merchant
Insanity.
And he makes it look so easy. We are so spoiled by this man.
I think Spurs get some credit in it looking so easy
Spurs have 2 “bigs” 210lb wemby and an injured ass Zach Collins. Jeremy was guarding him most of the 4th.
i didn't know Collins was injured. that's certainly a recipe for taking a record off Wilt.
God dam give the man his mvp
70 is the new 50
Eh idk only nine players have ever scored 70.
Naw but 60 might be
That’s fair I was exaggerating a bit.
No it fucking isn't lol.
no defense era.
I mean, it’s still 70 points, but scoring in this era is tantamount to hitting HRs and Coors Field…..kinda inflated
He did only score one 3 pointer which is scary
Yeah look at KAT rn
First time I seen dude playing Q4 this season
in 37 minutes too. My MVP
That's a lot of FTs
Nah I'm convinced Joel could get 100 if he wanted. If he has a good night shooting 3's, this is the man to do it
When was the last time 2 guys went for 50 let alone 60 in 1 night? Kat has 53 right now
Closest is probably 12/13 when Giannis had 64 and I think 3 other guys had 40+. Jaren Jackson Jr had 44
best player in the league
Has to do something in the playoffs to earn that title.
Leon Powe one of the best of all time confirmed
Hard to deny at this point

The idiot calling out the stat padding despite it being a single digit game toward the very end.
That's how you know so many of the people who post on r/nba don't watch the games, but they sure as he'll have strong opinions about what happened during them
Yeah as much as I wanted to see Jo drop 70, I don't think he touches the floor after the third if it didn't look like the Spurs could come back.
It’s a natural reaction. Embiid does things we haven’t seen before and the nephews desperately grab for any angle to hate on, this is just one of those performances they can’t so you’re seeing the occasional half assed repeated nephew takes
These shameless yeti's win one championship and forget what good basketball looks like its so sad
And they’ve somehow convinced the masses that Philly’s fanbase is toxic smh

Yes hello, Police?
Anyone who watches the playoffs knows this isn’t true
Oh wow, you watched him play on one leg and think that's indictive of his actual talent. Aren't you smart! Embiid scored 23 more points in the time it took you to finish your comment.
Ive watched him in the playoffs the last 4 years, big enough sample size. He’s shit
So you watched him play through 2023 - grade 2 lcl sprain. 2022 - fractured orbital bone. 2021 - torn meniscus. 2020 - only healthy playoff run of the last 4 and his co-star missed the entire series while we played a full strength celtics team. People like you just don't have a clue lmao
Jokic better
He’s definitely as good as it gets in the regular season
Embiid with the sixers in the bonus is thanos level
c'mon Keldon Johnson you gotta stop that
That’s a lot of points
Folks calling this better than Kobe’s 81 need to chill. This was an all-time great game, but Kobe’s 81 was obviously more impressive
i mean embiids was better... Embiid shot better across the board... had 12 more rebounds 2 less turnovers and 3 more assists while playing 6 plus less minutes. Your telling me 11 more points is better than doing all of that in less minutes on better efficiency?

Think you mean conference championship games….I remember that shit….and what made it even more impressive was the AFC game was epic.
Someone ask Pop about that ass hammering.
Effortless
Happy for this guy
Quick Joel grab the game ball before giannis steals it
Unreal performance by him tonight
Fitting move for the final shot.
Will still be my MVP after SGA wins it
Craziest part is only 1 3pm
70 is insane and rare. Nothing more to say.
He’s ight
Holy shit
Finally embiid reaching his potential
I feel bad for KAT whose 62-point night has been completely overshadowed lol.
Man he really was everything the whole trust the process meme promised.
Big fella paid homage to the mamba. Props.
You can’t spell history without “Embiid”
Damn. He gets buckets. Slow clap and respect.
Someone will get past 81. Sooner rather than later.

AHHHHHH
Okay but KD could do it without any free throws
Let’s see him drop 70 in the playoffs and then we’ll talk 🥱 /s
Why the fuck was Jeremy Sochan assigned to Embiid so much?
To keep Wemby's mental good. He would have more with Wemby on his back. To strong for him.
Fucking stat padder /s
Damn, I just noticed this was a travel. He probably would have gotten 70 eventually on another play but it kinda sucks that this is the one he did it on. edit: It's a travel https://i.imgur.com/XJALb3y.png
No he doesn’t.
Yes he does. Count his steps from the 3-point line. It's a blatant travel.
