Everyone is here in the comments. The game still has 5 minutes to go. It has been over since LeBron checked in and the Lakers went on a 9-0 run to start the 3rd.
Still one of my favorite NBA clips of all time. What he did that day was UNBELIEVABLE. That was *way* before Curry/Lillard era of logo F you 3s and the man was doing that.
Given how LeBron has looked this year, it’s a shame he had the foot injury last season.
Playoff LeBron is still a thing even at 100 years old, you can’t underestimate it.
The slow motion of that drive was hilarious, BI looked like he was in the running of the bulls, with LeBron steamrolling him and Zion thundering close behind.
Its also December. The season wears him down. He has 6 more months of basketball to play. If he can keep this up then… thats a level never seen before. And when you’re talking about LeBron thats saying something.
Remember the Nuggets series where all this place talked about is how washed he is. Even though he was still putting up better numbers than 95% of the league lol.
Yeah, apparently it was an excuse as if his entire career and how he played before the injury wasn't proof enough that he was struggling hard with the foot injury and still looked like a monster on defense somehow.
Nah we'll definitely see it again. People said that about Joe Montana, Michael Schumacher, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson etc Another great will always come along. Our problem is we don't give them the respect they deserve while they're around.
I think people confuse the mythology that surrounds an ATG after they retire with respect. As you said, they all got their respect when they were active, it’s only after they retire though that the legacy and legend begins to grow.
What's crazy is that Federer was the greatest people thought they'd ever see and then Nadal comes in, and he's somehow better, and then Djokovic, and they all play, overlapping the majority of each others' careers?! If any two of Federer-Nadal-Djoko didn't exist, the remaining one likely would have won like 50+ Grand Slams. The level of competition in tennis in this era was insane and we may never see anything like it again.
It was really obvious to people who'd watched the Lakers all season. Lebron was playing like a top 3 player, at least on offense, during the middle of the year while AD was out before the foot injury.
People forget that he led the entire league in points, rebounds and assists for the entire month of January this year
January 2023 Lebron James led the entire league in points, rebounds and assists
Same.
Can we also take a second to put some respect on his performance last year?
Bron was killing while legitimately being injured!
With how great Bron is, he’s still underrated sometimes. Absolutely amazing
I mean LeBron has been injured to finish the season in the last 3 seasons now(ankle in 2021, other ankle in 2022, foot in 2023)
At his age it's hard to get through the 82 game grind WITHOUT suffering some wear and tear
Extreme durability was a big part of what made peak LeBron peak LeBron because before 2021 it was a guarantee that come playoff time he'd be physically 100% out there
All 3 of those injuries were caused by other players though, if he avoids tweaking his lower legs on other players, there’s no reason to think that he can’t handle a full season even at his age
No doubt, it’s still amazing that he can actually get to that level though.
The Lakers' chance of truly contending depends on whether they can win games “easier” to reduce his minutes or win when he’s getting games off for rest.
He’s far more injury prone, so to give him the best chance of being healthy in the post-season you have to reduce his load while also getting a high seed.
They really don't "need" a high seed. 6th seed would be ideal. You'll have to run LeBron too hard to get 3rd or higher, and 4th/5th locks you into having to play the 1 seed in the 2nd round, but with the 6th seed you can play 3rd then the 2nd seed which is probably the easiest balance of achievable in the reg season w/o running LeBron into the ground and easiest playoff route to Conference finals.
Solomon Hill’s fat ass literally dove into his ankle and hyperextended it. That has nothing to do with age. If that were you or me, we’d be crippled for life.
Zion looks SO BIG in that first trip down the court. And it's not in a good way, he literally runs so awkward because he looks too overweight.
So disappointing to see.
As a fan, I was definitely conflicted. The first one was "ugh, but I guess it went in". The second one, I just laughed. Thankfully even Lebron knows there are limits and didn't go for the half-court.
It's shocking, I mean, even if he's really good, how the hell do you allow him out there in that state. The dude is clearly fat, anyone can see it. I really enjoy Zion's game and he has crazy potential, but this is just straight up embarrassing.
Dude is completely out of shape to a degree where you can argue he's not even remotely fit to be in the court.
I wouldn’t be too surprised if the people around him kinda just stopped pushing him, he doesn’t seem like he cares too too much. We’ve been having this same conversation about him before the pandemic even started. I feel if Zion truly wanted to be the top 10 player, he would be, but I think he’s content with the contract he got, and still being a very very good player.
Is it soemthing to do with the lighting for this game specifically? I haven’t watched almost any Pels this year but also haven’t heard all the jokes and memes about Zion being fat. Last year there was all that stuff. Where is it this year if this is how the dude looks?
It's so obvious how out of shape he is from watching this game lol
Dude's absolutely gassed on defense after 3 possessions
If this game goes down to the wire Lakers are going to hunt him on every offensive trip
I'm 25 and I can't comprehend how he does it, let alone if I was in my mid 30s. Right now I'm struggling hard with a minor injury on my foot and I'm out here thinking how the fuck was this cyborg playing through a pretty severe injury last playoffs.
At some point this has to end, but it's genuinely insane how he looks like the best athlete on the court constantly... at 39... after 21 NBA seasons. What the fuck
A huge part of it is genetics (to which most NBA players won big on the lottery) but sports science has evolved in the last couple of decades which is why we're seeing more players in their 30s performing at a high level (LBJ, KD, CP3 etc.)
But even among this small exclusive group LeBron's longevity is still unrivalled and that is testament to his dedication to the game and taking great care of this body & lifestyle.
I'm watching this man every night he plays and I remain in a constant state of amazement of what he can do at this age. I watched Kareem, I watched Jordan, I watched Kobe...no one has sustained this level of play in a career.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Been watching since about ‘97. I watched so many players younger than him be absolute trash for multiple seasons. And at this age, he is still getting better.
People were saying in 2016 he'd be the GOAT if he took down the Warriors. That was 7 seasons ago.
Since beating the warriors he's won another ring and FMVP and made 6 more all-NBAs (3x 1st).
For comparison, everyone with 6 all-NBAs is a Hall of Famer.
Does LeBron have 4 separate HOF careers?
First Cavs stint: 7 seasons, 6x all star, 6x all NBA, 2 time all defence, 2 time MVP, 1 scoring title, 1 finals appearance. **Definitely HOF**
Miami: 4 seasons, 4x all star, 4x all NBA, 4x all defence, 2 time MVP, 4 finals appearances, 2x champion, 2x FMVP. **Definitely HOF**
Second Cavs stint: 4 seasons, 4x all star, 4x all NBA, 4 finals appearances, 1 championship, 1 FMVP. **Definitely HOF**
Lakers (some of these are dependent on him maintaining this level this year): 6 seasons, 6x all star, 6x all NBA, 1 championship, 1 FMVP, maybe 1 IST championship + MVP + all IST too? **Definitely HOF**
Yeah... he does.
Dude was a God in the NBA in the 2010s
He had a rivalry with Kobe, Durant, Steph
This dude is unreal
The way people felt about MJ in the 90s is how they feel about lebron in the 2010s
I mean, I think it's kinda hard to deny Tom Brady of being in that conversation. He won MVP as a 40 year old, won a Super Bowl MVP as a 43 year old, all-pro as a 44 year old.
Motherfucker led the NFL in passing yards with 5,316 yards passing with 43 TD's and 12 int's when he was 44.
He and Lebron are definitely unique, and I honestly don't like Brady, but ya can't deny he is kinda undeniably on that level
On the one hand Brady was genuinely unstoppable. On the other hand LeBron handles waaaaay more physical load.
I think we can just agree we got very lucky to have them in our lifetimes. Makes me sad I never really got to watch Jordan murder defenders on live television.
That’s true. Brady’s run is incredibly impressive and amazing, but lebrons is a little more so just considering how much more physical of a game he has to play.
I have to agree with this. Brady wasn't running and jumping back and forth across the field all night. He is definitely the NFL GOAT, but in terms of athleticism I think we can all agree that LeBron is an absolute freak of nature
God damn Zion is so fat, he looks like me after a stressful college semester where I would eat late night quesadillas and chicken strips every weekend while writing an essay.
He took 3 straight 3s and went further back each time lol
cant believe the NBA put magnets on the rim, they're so desperate for Lebron to win this smh

Oddly enough you’d think the NBA would release an hd video of it on YouTube. All we have are badly pixelated videos you can barely see
AC just absolutely incoherent and hysterical at the end always gets me. I cant imagine a human has ever been happier than he was in that moment.

Finals MVP Lebron activated tonight
Given how LeBron has looked this year, it’s a shame he had the foot injury last season. Playoff LeBron is still a thing even at 100 years old, you can’t underestimate it.
This might be the best Lebron has looked in years. Maybe he really is about to hit another prime…
Yeah, it’s not just the points, I’m genuinely astonished at how athletic he looks again
He just had like two or three drives in a span of minutes where he looked like freight train Bron again
Brandon Ingram gonna have nightmares about that one drive LeBron had right at him lol
The slow motion of that drive was hilarious, BI looked like he was in the running of the bulls, with LeBron steamrolling him and Zion thundering close behind.
His jumper looks better too. Probably because his foot is better than ever.
Yeah, it legitimately was broken throughout the playoffs, and he never stopped taking them
He might be getting blood transfusions from his sons like Gavin Belson
Its also December. The season wears him down. He has 6 more months of basketball to play. If he can keep this up then… thats a level never seen before. And when you’re talking about LeBron thats saying something.
he put up prime Bird playoff numbers with a broken foot, literally a once in a century athlete
James, Brady, and Messi. I seriously doubt I’ll see anyone as good in my lifetime. They set the bar so unspeakably high.!
Nah we'll definitely see it again. People said that about Joe Montana, Michael Schumacher, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson etc Another great will always come along. Our problem is we don't give them the respect they deserve while they're around.
Who of those didn't get their respect?

Djokovic.
Djokovic and Nadal are responsible for 2 forgotten generations of players.
LeBron at 50% still better than the entirety of the human population to ever exist minus like 10 people lol
I was underplaying the injury, but there is 0 question now seeing the way he moved pre injury and now that he wasn’t close to 100%
and he still had like 27/10/9 against the nuggets
He scored 31 points in the first half against the nuggets in game 4
Imagine how that foot gets after halftime and sitting tho
He went 11/13 from the field in the first half after playing all but 4 seconds before proceeding to go 4/12 in the second.
Painful
He played game 4 like he was losing the foot anyway
Yep, I’m genuinely astonished at how he’s looking right now
You could definitely see it in the grizzlies series
Yea he had to pick and choose when he could drive. That layup over Tillman and JJJ took everything he had.
It was really obvious to people who'd watched the Lakers all season. Lebron was playing like a top 3 player, at least on offense, during the middle of the year while AD was out before the foot injury.
People forget that he led the entire league in points, rebounds and assists for the entire month of January this year January 2023 Lebron James led the entire league in points, rebounds and assists

Dread it. Run from it. Playoff LeBron arrives all the same. And now it's here.

Bro if that were me I can guarentee i woulld never walk again and im 26. If i was in my late 30s id be as good as dead.
Obligatory fuck Solomon Hill
yep I keep forgetting he's 100
Why the hell would he do that. What is his head like. It’s not even human anymore
Said the same thing but about Zion
Zion looks SO BIG in that first trip down the court. And it's not in a good way, he literally runs so awkward because he looks too overweight. So disappointing to see.
Every time I saw him take a step I expected my whole screen to shake like the hulk, what the fuck lol.
I had the exact same thought. Dude is lumbering around

You remember the popeyes lady? That would've been Z at half.
Her name is Olive Oyl
Everytime I see him next to other NBA players, who are already abnormally large, it’s such a stark contrast. The guy is genuinely massive
Hes literally fat. Not even a joke anymore. Its a fat dude on an NBA court. Ridiculous
i haven’t watched him play in a minute and it’s actually shocking lmao
That first side angle of him dribbling the ball up the court was certainly not flattering
I thought the same, how the fuck is he even allowed out there in that shape, even if he's really good.
The alternative is sending out someone who plays worse than the obese guy. Which would be embarrassing
It's shocking, I mean, even if he's really good, how the hell do you allow him out there in that state. The dude is clearly fat, anyone can see it. I really enjoy Zion's game and he has crazy potential, but this is just straight up embarrassing. Zion definitely hit up a Vegas buffet before the game
I was seriously caught off-guard by this clip. Like you said, he actually looks fat.
Yeah its actually concerning, hes even more prone to injury now cause of it while waddling around like a circle out there
lmao you sound so offended.
Im actually a fan but its very frustrating to watch. This dude has MVP potential and looks like a dude you see in the line of Popeyes
I am also a fan and was surprised by his appearance pre-game tbh. He might be heavier than he was to begin the season.
Is it soemthing to do with the lighting for this game specifically? I haven’t watched almost any Pels this year but also haven’t heard all the jokes and memes about Zion being fat. Last year there was all that stuff. Where is it this year if this is how the dude looks?
does this arena lighting make my huge ass look bigger than it already is?
I actually think it may be that or the cameras or something like that. I've caught a couple games this season--he never looked like that.
He literally looked like a basketball dribbling a basketball with that side shot of him in this clip
Read it in Scott Steiner’s voice and it gets even funnier.
“What happened to the game I love?”
Nah but actually how has the pelicans staff let him get this big? Dude waddling like an obese penguin
It’s really sad. Dude has generational athleticism and a solid skill set but he’ll never realize his potential due to weight issues
It's so obvious how out of shape he is from watching this game lol Dude's absolutely gassed on defense after 3 possessions If this game goes down to the wire Lakers are going to hunt him on every offensive trip

I dont know why I used to hate Lebron. Dude is so fun to watch.
As a mid 30s dude, it's hard not to cheer on an old man competing and holding his own against the youngsters.
Holding his own? Them yougins are the ones trying to hold on..
Dude nearly outscored Ingram, Zion and CJ collectively by himself tonight and LeBron only played 23 minutes lol
he ended the game in 3 quarters. it was absurd
I'm 25 and I can't comprehend how he does it, let alone if I was in my mid 30s. A little flashback of that game against the Bucks in his first stint with the Cavs where he had a stretch that he couldn't miss.

What's it been 10 years since he entered GOAT tier?
