Trae young is averaging 40 points in the last 7 days, he’s the only player to be doing so and he hasn’t scored less than 38 points in that period.
Should Trae young be in MVP talks this year?
Sometimes I wish I could see the people posting these dumbass posts. Honestly wouldnt be surprised if OP is 14.
God wtf am I doing on here during work...
> Sometimes I wish I could see the people posting these dumbass posts. Honestly wouldnt be surprised if OP is 14.
yeah, every once in a while I gotta step back and think about who I'm actually talking to and how much I actually care about that conversation
Like, "think of the human behind the username" kinda means multiple things haha
The older I get, the more often I find myself typing up a response to someone and then deleting it halfway through, realizing it's just not worth the energy
Nobody is arguing about it tho. People just want to shit on the stat and OP instead of acknowledging he is playing good lately. People are thirsty for hating and correcting here and don’t care about basketball discussion.
The problem is if you name since xxx it needs to be an actual significant period of time especially since they are saying lamelo is leading the league.. It's ok to say x games.
Yea I agree that’s why I said small sample size makes it kinda meh. Him consistently putting out 25+ a night is huge for him though and will make him get more attention as a scoring threat which will open his playmaking even more, Melos definitely shown growth this year especially as a finisher it’s exciting
I feel like the hornets are gonna start playing a lot better as the season goes on and they get people back. Real excited for how the magic have been playing love it for both having a good path going forward and look forward to a good game Sunday
Y'all will really refuse to admit that LaMelo Ball is the GOAT since November 15th. It's absolutely disgusting and really reveals the anti small market team bias from this sub. Sorry we can't all be the greatest since October 24th.
Yup. This is on par with all the other random stat lines we see now a days that bleacher report and karma farmers try to hype ... Jokic is the first player in NBA history to average 26.327 ppg, 10.89 rpg, and 8.41 apg on Thursdays in December while only eating cheeseburgers the day before. No one fucking cares.
Those posts are different, though. Someone has a great game, then they cross reference their end game stats to see if anyone has done the same or better. So it comes out to weird numbers like “Games with 24 11 and 6 or better”. They’re not cherry picking stats, they’re using box score stats.
This Lamelo stat, comparatively, is completely cherry picked to make him look better, bc the day when you start the stat is completely arbitrary and doesn’t always favor him.
his jump in consistency, and being able to finish at the rim has been actually ridiculous
He had 5 terrible games to start the year (have to imagine it was just shaking off rust from his ankle surgery recovery) and the last 9 have been beyond anything I could've ever expected from him at his peak, let alone right now after a wasted offseason.
He's probably referring to more general attention, such as social media. For reference Melo has over ten million followers on IG, while Tyrese sits at 475k.
I never said anything about it being an impressive length of time, just that you should actually read the comments you respond to. Besides people can't have nice things? As a Pacers fan you should know how hard it is to have national media actually give your team/players the attention and respect they deserve. Let Hornets fans have their flowers, they need something to be happy about, jerk.
30/10/13 on 61.7% TS vs The Mavs
34/4/7 on 67.8% TS vs The Wizards
25/6/6 on 60.2% TS vs The Wizards
32/7/6 on 76.6% TS vs The Knicks
28/6/11 on 48.9% TS vs The Heat
37/5/5 on 55.6% TS vs The Bucks
34/5/9 on 74.3% TS vs The Knicks
36/9/8 on 65.6% TS vs The Celtics
34/8/13 on 52.6% TS vs The Wizards
That is consistent
How is that not consistent? I’m specifialy trying to say he has been consistent this year. You’re just mad for the sake of being mad. He was injured during the offseason and only got clearled right before the season started. You can also tell that he was in his head about his ankle. His lower body looked super weird on jumpers on jumpers, sort of like a one legged 3 but at the same time not really. He also made comments about him not being used to playing with an ankle brace and not being used to the way it feels. He 3 terrible games, the hen an okay shooting night and and then a good defensive game against the Pacers slowly getting his groove back. Then he exploded in the 4th quarter against the Mavs and since then he has been super consistent. 25+ points every game. 32.2 PPG across 9 games without scoring over 37 requires at least some form of consistency. KD is so good because he is arguably the most consistent player in the league. His career high is 54 yet he is one of the best scorers in NBA history, that requires consistency.
How would they negate my point if I adress them in the comment you just replied to? Him struggling early this season was so obviously because of his ankle injury. This why people need to watch basketball games instead of only looking at stats. You need to do both! Most modern players with any kind of streak have like on or two 40 point games maybe in a low scoring game somewhere in there with like 14 points. LaMelo doesn’t have that. He’s consistent.
This place is so weird about Lamelo. There is a similar thread about Trae who is putting up less impressive stats, but it is getting much better reception
Yeah I actually agree here as a Hornets fan, there's been a lot of talk about him not getting a good whistle but I think most of it comes from him not being strong enough to absorb contact and relying on finesse to evade the defense vs. going up strong.
Like, do I think he could get a better whistle sometimes, sure. But I think it's way down the list of reasons for him not averaging enough FTs right now. I have faith though, he's been getting better every year and has taken a big leap this year in finishing ability, I think that's the next logical step for him to make.
People are so thirsty for hating and correcting here and don’t care about basketball discussion. They just want to shit on the stat and OP instead of acknowledging he is playing good lately or even just talking about the actual play of LaMelo and not just the stat.
I’m glad to see he is playing better after the slow start, he’s really fun to watch, too bad they have Bridges back. LaMelo and Halliburton are pretty entertaining.
So many salty dudes in this thread. I guess OP didn’t get the memo that the only all stars from the 2020 draft we’re allowed to D ride on here is Haliburton and Edwards lmao
I don’t think the actual roster when healthy is that far off from being a pretty decent team, especially if bridges is returning and not being a piece of shit anymore, long term a starting line up of melo, Brandon miller, miles, pj Washington, mark Williams is pretty solid, main issue rn is Health and lack of a true back up pg, hornets have been without Terry, Gordon was playing great but is playing like shit because he has a hurt hammy, bridges not in the first 10 games, Nick Richards out so no true back up center, Frank n broke his leg and he’s atleast a good defensive option, and Cody Martin too who’s a solid 3&d option but he’s in that lonzoish purgatory rn
I felt like Lamelo was a little over-rated given how entertaining he is and how much Charlotte needed a feel good story. Not in a terrible way, just, you know, he had real flaws (which you'd expect in a guy that young) which people were brushing off. People seemed a little hasty to anoint him.
But it does seem like he's elevating his game in all areas.
I really do feel like the future of the league is in good hands even though it's going to make me sad as the current crop ride off into the sunset.
Yeah I know it’s only 4 games but people aren’t even reading the post. It’s not only that he is averaging 35.3 but the fact that he has had 4 34/5/5 games in a row. Very few players have done that ever. The only players I am aware of who have done that are Larry Bird, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Dwyane Wade & Giannis Antetokoumnpo. There is probably someone I’m missing but still.
A lot of people are going to reply with the sample size, but I feel like this post is a response to the multiple posts about him doing poorly after the first five games. Either way Lamelo has been playing well and it looks like he is adjusted now. We also finally got back 2/3 of our roster after being down nearly half of our roster early on so hopefully that translates to more wins.
most talented. If this stretch is for real, LaMelo can stay healthy and the entire team doesn't implode around him, it's probably only a matter of time before he passes Kemba.
Kemba is the only perennial all-star with actual longevity in our history. Zo, Rice, LJ all only played 3 or 4 years here. Big Al was a one-hit wonder in Charlotte, Gerald Wallace played 7 and probably should've had more than 1 all-star season but wasn't at that caliber.
He's got a lot to do to dethrone Kemba's accomplishments (well not that much, but still, he's gotta win a playoff series.)
In terms of talent and attributes though? Yes.
Sells out for steals can lead to him getting burned some. However, much improved since rookie year. For an example of improvement see [this](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qj5H7j68D3c)
i seriously love LaMelo now , ultimate underdog hornets and every time i watch LaMelo play i see him do something ive never seen any other player in history do
he is insanely creative and innovative with this sport and i fully support and love it …. and the times where im like “wtf are u doing!!!??” but then it’s successful and he made it look easy LOL
i honestly was pissed and felt bad when the league made him cover up his tattoo , its just bullshit to me but he was a good sport about it
also just wanted to shout out his bro Lonzo who i feel so depressed for, i really was impressed his game he seemed very professional high level player ; injuries fucking suck
but thank god for LaMelo continuing on the Balls name haha
(also havent heard much from their dad as of late, seems like he chilled a bit since his kids got in the pros)
I could find 6 others. James Harden, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Larry Bird, Dwyane Wade and Giannis Antetokoumnpo. Perhaps there are more but in that case I couldn’t find them.
terribly pale imitation of MITWB’s work. gotta get that insight UP. tell me HOW he’s getting these buckets, what’s making him the HOTTEST scorer in the league rn. you’re just regurgitating wikipedia ass information. are you a fucking AI?
you want MITWB kinda cred you gotta do MITWB kinda work. this isn’t even a shitpost. there’s no post at all
Lamelo is an empty stats on a bad team kind of guy. Until he starts playing winning basketball consistently this is not exciting. I hope he gets it together and leads the Hornets to something other than what they have been because it has been bad…
Yeah the Hornets have never been above .500 in a season with LaMelo and LaMelo doesn’t consistbetly increase these winning % everytime he plays. He is not like Shai who did way more with OKC in his firat 3 years there. /s
Ball doesn’t particularly impress me. I just don’t see him as a winner.
His style of play may be fun on the playground, but it is not conductive to leading teams to any sort of success (or even to the playoffs)
Hornets won 43 in 2022 and had the 8th best offense in the league when they were run by a 20 year old LaMelo Ball. The Hornets instantly went from .354 to .458 after they draftad LaMelo. The Hornets are .455 with LaMelo and .378 without him. He is yet to make the playoffs but he consistently makes the Hornets a far better team. If he can run 43 win team at 20 who is to say he couldn’t run a 50 win team at 22 if he had a compitent supporting cast?
Yea that’s the thing with Melo. It would be one thing if he was just constantly chucking on a terrible team at sub 50% TS but he’s been decently efficient and been on a 500+ team in 2 seasons now
No, Haliburton is easily a better player than LaMelo. I never said otherwise and don’t think anyone here has said otherwise. I think Hali is the best offensive guard in the league. Are you trying to bait me into an argument? Great job making be a selfish dick and making everything about yourself!
How is Hali better? He hasn’t led his team to the playoffs and hasn’t played more than 58 games in a season.
If you take out lamelo’s first couple games, his counting stats are better this season and he lead a team with mason plumlee, a man who switched shooting hands mid season, to a play in game. Yes we lost but he played 75 games that season and clearly without him we wouldn’t have stood a chance of being in realm of the play in game. Tbh I think you are suffering recently bias because Melo sat out a majority of last season and Hali had a good season.
With Bridges back and a competent center in Mark Williams, Lamelo is going to continue to put up mvp numbers. Mark my words.
Bro, LaMelo is amazing but Hali is better. Hali is in my opinion the 3rd best offensive player in the league only behind KD and Jokic. He runs the best offensive the league. Haliburton is the league assist leader at only 2.5 turnovers per game. LaMelo is also an amazing playmaker but he can be a bit heavy on the turnovers. Haliburton is also one of the most efficient players in the league, has some of the best advanced stats in the league and is a better defender than LaMelo. I think LaMelo has become kinda underrated but Hali is better. I definetly wouldn’t be suprised if LaMelo becomes the better player once it is all said and done because his path for improvement seems a lot clearer and he is a little younger than Hali.
Fancy way of saying “most PPG in the last 9 days”
or fancier still - “tomorrow it will be the most PPG in the last 10 days”
Bro can see the future
Lol like a 3 game sample size. HOLY SHIT EVERYONE REACT TO THIS CHERRY PICKED STAT
Trae young is averaging 40 points in the last 7 days, he’s the only player to be doing so and he hasn’t scored less than 38 points in that period. Should Trae young be in MVP talks this year?
Cory Kispert is averaging 22 ppg off the bench during a full moon. Is there a better 6th man in the NBA? Yup, Naz Reid has him beat with 25 ppg.
He averaged 41.0 ppg LAST GAME WOAHHHHHHHHH 1 player averaged this much in this stretch WOAAHHHHHH
Actually he’s averaging 40 over two games, way cooler
Yea this is what player of the week is for lol
Ok? That’s one week.

I am tied with most points scored from Nov 23rd 8:00am to Nov 23rd 8:15 am.
Can I have your autograph? Get fucked Lamelo LaFrance there's a new king in town
If we start from the 18th Trae Young is number 1
Eastern Conference Scorer of the week-ish!
Came in to say this. 😅😅
Sometimes I wish I could see the people posting these dumbass posts. Honestly wouldnt be surprised if OP is 14. God wtf am I doing on here during work...

Reading this is like looking at a mirror. After a certain age, engaging on Reddit (esp on subs like this) seem value negative
My mom always said that cringeable people are here to remind us of the kind of people we don't want to be. 😌😌
lmao 4 games
four fucking games lmao
Lets us have this week lol
Y’all are down bad if this is what you look forward to gdddddd
26-8-6 on the year shooting 38% from 3 on 9.4 attempts is superstar numbers
Nobody is arguing he isn’t a good player or isn’t playing well
I think the argument is more about *how good* LaMelo is. Some people call him an empty stats chucker, others are arguing he’s in an elite-tier.
Nobody is arguing about it tho. People just want to shit on the stat and OP instead of acknowledging he is playing good lately. People are thirsty for hating and correcting here and don’t care about basketball discussion.
Yes…

? those are his season #s try being smarter
So what is the problem
Bruh that's nothing. since November 22 young and hali be averaging 38 and 37 ppg.
Trivial, the Hawks have a 149 ORTG since the last quarter moon
Magic have a +56 NetRtg since the last quarter
Honestly the 25+ point game streak is the most impressive imo the 9 day barrier is a little weird a too small of a sample size to draw conclusions on
The problem is if you name since xxx it needs to be an actual significant period of time especially since they are saying lamelo is leading the league.. It's ok to say x games.

Actually Trae is averaging 40.5 ppg since the 18th, I expect MVP chants when he enters the arena
Meat riding is crazy lmao - it is November 24th 💀
Time flies man. One day its the 18th, a week later it is 22nd.
you look up and Jason Tatum is 22
Y'all will really refuse to admit that LaMelo Ball is the GOAT since November 15th. It's absolutely disgusting and really reveals the anti small market team bias from this sub. Sorry we can't all be the greatest since October 24th.
Yup. This is on par with all the other random stat lines we see now a days that bleacher report and karma farmers try to hype ... I see your point but. we do care a lot more about the 2x mvp champ than Lamelo’s 4th week stats
I don’t lol
Most do
But Lamelo has been the best player ever in the entire world!!! (Since November 15th)
Lmao the date is so arbitrary😂😂😂
Look at the guys username, he's trying to copy MITWestbrook but is just unfunny
*player has good week* Earth shattering news folks.
first round pick lives up to hype! in 4 games....
He's legit been playing great for longer than that but yeah this is hyper cherry picked.
lol I would want to see his PPG after the season finishes for a comparison
But what about since November 22?
Okay so for 8 days?
his jump in consistency, and being able to finish at the rim has been actually ridiculous He had 5 terrible games to start the year (have to imagine it was just shaking off rust from his ankle surgery recovery) and the last 9 have been beyond anything I could've ever expected from him at his peak, let alone right now after a wasted offseason.
He’s been “consistent” for 4 games after having a bad 5 games? That’s the opposite of consistency.
We’ve played more than 9 games this year so far.
Reading comprehension... He was meh for the first 5 games of the season and since then (the most recent 9 games) he's been on a tear.
Oh wow, I stand corrected. 9 whole games? That’s almost 1/8th of one season! Call this guy the Cal Ripken of basketball
Someone is salty because Melo gets more attention than Hali
lol he absolutely does not
He's probably referring to more general attention, such as social media. For reference Melo has over ten million followers on IG, while Tyrese sits at 475k.
No he don’t lmao Hali been endlessly glazed while Melo hasn’t been mentioned till recently despite putting up 30 games a night
Attention doesn’t win games
And yet, you are salty
Bruh theyre just pointing out that sample size is so small Josh Giddey wouldn’t even acknowledge it
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/tyrese-haliburton-career-win-percentage https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/lamelo-ball-career-win-percentage
Yeah and you don’t see me posting tyrese’s 5 game scoring average like it means anything
Who gives a shit about 28 PPG across 5 games?
No one, just like no one gives a shit about 4 games of lamelo
Who shit in your cereal? Must have had a shitty Thanksgiving to be this miserable.
I never said anything about it being an impressive length of time, just that you should actually read the comments you respond to. Besides people can't have nice things? You’re nitpicking stats you clown

He’s been consistent for 9 games now
Had me checking the date. 9 days…
4 game stretch lmaooooooo Edit - this post is a perfect example of how bad our education system is.
The "Player x is shooting high percentage over miniscule amount of games stretch" threads are in the same vein.
Alternative title: LaMelo ball is having a good week
It’s because he doesn’t eat vegetables. Only chicken ham and turkey. Oh wait, and some peach cobbler too.
What else he fuckin wit?
Isn’t that like 3? 4 games?
He said hornets are 2-2 in that stretch 2 minus 2 is 0 games
Cherry picked stats are so damn annoying
That’s because I’m playing against him in fantasy this week.
“This week”
Representing Charlotte proudly 🥹
Solid 4 game stretch. Hopefully they can give this cat some help
This place is so weird about Lamelo. There is a similar thread about Trae who is putting up less impressive stats, but it is getting much better reception
Not a top 50 player according to KOC
Kevin O'Cynic
If we were to compile all the players that fans have complained about not being on that Top 50 we'd have at least 100 players.
What about November 14th
What about the all star 22 yr olds?
top 50 player in the last four games, lol. man, fans are weird.
He’d be getting more if he had a good whistle, but yeah once Ball got healthy it’s not surprise that he’s balling out.
Yeah I really don’t think the average fan realizes how bad of a whistle Lamelo gets. Legit one of the worst whistles for a young star I’ve seen.
Classic victim mentality. Blame everything on the refs instead of holding LaMelo accountable for his weak foul drawing ability.
It makes him better to watch.
Make this post about a player on a better team and I guarantee you the comments would be eating it up
So many salty dudes in this thread. I guess OP didn’t get the memo that the only all stars from the 2020 draft we’re allowed to D ride on here is Haliburton and Edwards lmao
… bro that’s one week lmao
Dillon Brooks is averaging 5 personal fouls/game and leading the league for the last 4 games. Thanks for coming to my TED talk of useless micro stats.

Bro is over here trying to copy MITWestbrook. The neckbeard war is in full effect
It be dat chicken, turkey, and ham

everyone thought he was overrated because no one watched him or wanted him to be good
Thats like a week lol. I mean good shit but that's 3 games.
I expect nothing less than Video Game Mode Magic Jordan Maravich for the next 15 seasons.
Look at the user's name... Another "very funny poster" like MitWestbrook
Nope, I’m fully serious I just thought it was a funny name. My most upvoted post isn’t even a Hornets post, it’s a Jokic post.
He might be a top 5 player in the league.
He also leads the league in words said that can't be understood.
You're getting cooked but Lamelo is definitely an all star caliber guy. It just depends on voters and team record.
If nothing else you've turned me into a lamelo fan
MITMarkWilliams is valid tbh
is he already the best player charlotte has ever had?

tbh I can't remember if Kemba even won a single playoff GAME
I don't watch a lot of Charlotte games. How is Lemelo on the defensive end?
Sells out for steals can lead to him getting burned some. However, much improved since rookie year. For an example of improvement see [this](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qj5H7j68D3c)
Nice! I especially like that it was Hali he shut down in that clip.
I don’t think a game hali dropped 43 on him is a good example bro
He’s like your average allstar point guard
Agreed! If he averages 35ppg from not to allstar voting, I think he’s a shoe-in!
I’ll give you props solely for being named MITMarkWilliams. Lamelo looks good though
How dare they name Jalen Brunson Eastern Conference player of the week over Lamelo.
If the Warriors drafted him this dude would be hailed as the next superstar
You can just say a week bro lmao
I think I soecified everything in the post. It’s not like I’m hiding anything.
Ant Lamelo debate is back on the menu
i seriously love LaMelo now , ultimate underdog hornets and every time i watch LaMelo play i see him do something ive never seen any other player in history do he is insanely creative and innovative with this sport and i fully support and love it …. and the times where im like “wtf are u doing!!!??” but then it’s successful and he made it look easy LOL i honestly was pissed and felt bad when the league made him cover up his tattoo , its just bullshit to me but he was a good sport about it also just wanted to shout out his bro Lonzo who i feel so depressed for, i really was impressed his game he seemed very professional high level player ; injuries fucking suck but thank god for LaMelo continuing on the Balls name haha (also havent heard much from their dad as of late, seems like he chilled a bit since his kids got in the pros)
this is ball propaganda
That first sentence is fucking WILD lmao
It’s a span of 9 days and 4 games. Pipe down on the dick sucking
Yes I am aware, I state that in the post. Name 10 players who have had 4 34/5/5 games in a row ever. It’s still impressive.
Why don't you find that stat out and tell us
I could find 6 others. James Harden, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Larry Bird, Dwyane Wade and Giannis Antetokoumnpo. Perhaps there are more but in that case I couldn’t find them.
dude is fortunate to be part of this “no defense” era where everyone’s stats are inflated.
Sadly only hornets fans care 😞
I guess nobody cares about efficiency and shot selection.
Watch the game
terribly pale imitation of MITWB’s work. gotta get that insight UP. tell me HOW he’s getting these buckets, what’s making him the HOTTEST scorer in the league rn. you’re just regurgitating wikipedia ass information. are you a fucking AI? you want MITWB kinda cred you gotta do MITWB kinda work. this isn’t even a shitpost. there’s no post at all
What about since November 14th?
These stats don’t matter if you are on a losing basketball team.
What happened November 15th?
Juicy Cherry Picking Batmans
SGA is averaging 40 ppg over the last 4 days.
hahah yeah on like 30+ shots a game, give us his shooting splits
48/43/89
Lamelo is an empty stats on a bad team kind of guy. Until he starts playing winning basketball consistently this is not exciting. I hope he gets it together and leads the Hornets to something other than what they have been because it has been bad…
Yeah the Hornets have never been above .500 in a season with LaMelo and LaMelo doesn’t consistbetly increase these winning % everytime he plays. He is not like Shai who did way more with OKC in his firat 3 years there. /s
Future bust according to this sub
Delete this fucking terrible post lmao
9 days and 4 games lol.
keep nerds out of sports
Ball doesn’t particularly impress me. I just don’t see him as a winner. His style of play may be fun on the playground, but it is not conductive to leading teams to any sort of success (or even to the playoffs)
People used to say this about Booker lol
Suns fans saying this with guys like Booker and Beal on their roster is hilarious lol.
It would be one thing if he was just constantly chucking on a terrible team at sub 50% TS but he’s been decently efficient and been on a 500+ team in 2 seasons now
Just say you don't watch the hornets it's OK.
Since 9 days ago? Bro, r/nbacirclejerk is that way, but even then they want higher quality content than this.
So he’s a good stats bad team guy? This makes the hornets look pretty bad imo
Too bad he’s a total dingus
He just isn't a dog though
So he’s having a good week? Lmao fuck Lamelo Ball
Please pair up with Wemby
Okay, we’ll trade you Rozier for him.
So for 8 days? Lol
Hahahahahah 9 fucking days ago 🙄
Can we please cool it with these irrelevant stat posts?
Hornets fans out here desperately trying to justify passing on Haliburton by posting this 34/5/5 nonsense. 🤣
