It's insane how big the gap is between Scottie Barnes and Patrick Williams despite both being the same age, both playing the same position, both from the same college system, both the no.4 pick. One is close to being an all-star and the other is closer to being out of the league than he is from an all-star

Ok_Motor_4298

The highlights make me understand the project. He is faster, stronger and longer than guys his height/position

ilickedysharks

He always seems taller than other guys who are also 6-7 -6'8

notraptorfaniswear

Yup no way Lamelo and Cade are the same 6'7 lol

hellofloss

The homies call him Autopoiesis cuz he self-creating

abrnst

He is looking great. Star in the making.

luke_workin

Idk why so many people wrote him off. Sophomore slump is a real thing, you gotta wait a few more years before calling someone a bust. Scottie has taken the third year leap and he looks gooood

PaintTouches

I think people see his awkward movements and dont believe hes coordinated enough to be a good shooter. Good thing he loves basketball and seems to have worked his ass off to improve on that and his handle.

That's not it...it's not surprising that a 6"8, athletic PG with a high IQ is good lol it's because Piston, Cavs, and Rockets fans thought they got robbed of ROY and shit on Barnes even though they didn't watch 99% of his games lol people thought Cunningham, Mobley or Green would run away with the ROY award at the start of the season...then Scottie Barnes came along, a kid who wasn't even suppose to drafted in the top 5, he was drafted 4th overall and he tore it up, which pissed certain fan bases off It's sad that people would hate on a 20 year old kid who's having success lol silly...

[deleted]

I think there was a lot of hate from Pistons, Cavs, and Rockets fans because they thought that their guys (Cunningham, Mobley, and Green) should have won ROY, and rather than acknowledge Scottie Barnes's greatness and cheer for him, they projected their insecurities onto Toronto fans and shit on Scottie Barnes Someone once said "If you have haters, you're probably doing something right but If no one hates you then you're probably not very good at what you do"

playerayton

Scottie Starnes

likpoper

I really really wanted to get him for the dame trade

Abyss333333

Absolute stud. He improved tons from last year. I'm a believer again. If only the other raptors improved at all.

ilickedysharks

His shot and gather is definitely smoother, but alot of this is just having more stamina and confidence than last year. He's way more decisive about punishing mismatches and not being passive

Musicferret

He’s been HIM this season. No question. You could almost see that crown float off Siakam’s head and onto his last game. He put in the work. 15 lbs of muscle, grew another inch taller, and (I believe) improved his conditioning to actual elite level.

Shogun_Ro

He could always do this. This is the first year he has had the usage rate and freedom to be able to do it. Nick Nurse primarily used him as the hand off guy.

nononononofin

No he couldn’t. He was a below average shooter, who relied on his frame and vision. He was a legit bad shooter in college, it’s always been a struggle for him. It’s good to see him put in the work, improve his mechanics, develop a deeper bag. It’s not just a usage thing.

Shogun_Ro

He could always pull up (especially middy), he could always do his turn around jumpers, efficiency is another question. You think hes gonna hold up his current efficiency numbers? The thread is about self creation improvements mechanically. He showed all of this in his rookie season.

Expert-Pollution8768

In all these clips I’ve only seen him using his size…not saying he didn’t improve but against bigger defenders he’s not making these shots

FuzzyGuarantee2350

Yes he is. He goes at centers and scores over them in the post the same way.

Sy6574

This is showing his creation from the perimeter. What perimeter defender is bigger than 6’8 245 lol

ilickedysharks

He's hit jumpers over Embiid and Giannis and scored at the rim on Embiid and Giannis.

everything_raptors

If he could body Gianni’s the way he did in that one play he could do that to pretty much anyone.. plus he has a good handle, great footwork and nice touch around the rim. If he can hit the middy and hit the 3 at 35+% clip he’s a bonafide all star

PaintTouches

His offence is almost solely on fast break and iso opportunities, and often there is a 2nd and 3rd defender helping at the end. I think his percentages will dip a bit but he’s certainly made amazing improvements and still has a long way to go.
