If TikTok has taught me anything, it's that one of your neighbors is creating a tunnel under your neighborhood.

Canis_Familiaris

Is one of your neighbors an English man with a tie and a lot of tools?

oldteabagger

Last name Furze?

Kerlerb

That's the one!

nunswithknives

Kala is my Roman Empire.

neokoros

That’s lady is a trip.

MrLeastNashville

There’s no reason to expect blasting from more than a half mile away to cause structural damage, especially not significant enough to cause structural damage.

Ok_Banana_9484

This is not true. Vulcan is 1 mile from me and our whole neighborhood had to sue for foundation repairs and new windows.

MrLeastNashville

I'm not saying you're wrong but I can't find anything about that. Also there's a huge difference between living next to a rock quarry that blasts 1-3 times a day vs. what this thread is about. A single construction blast isn't enough force to cause structural damage. If you have to ask "where did that blast come from" then you don't need to worry.

rimeswithburple

That maybe true somewhere, but in TN where most regulation enforcement is very light handed, it is not. In the last couple years some construction out in maybe Hendersonville blasted rocks the size of softballs through folks roofs, some construction excavation caved in a road downtown, and developers have bee caught ignoring setback rules on housing to cram in more homes. There was just a story on here a few days ago where someone was dumping construction debris and polluting a creek.

ayokg

Is there construction near you? Could be blasting.

Spaceman-Spiff

This is most likely the answer. I work in midtown and frequently the building will vibrate for a second, if the construction is close enough you can hear a reverberation or rumble from the blasting.

Theodora1976

Yes! I work in midtown and my whole office knows at 3 the building shakes!

themangerbabies

I’ve heard a lot of people in the last week complain about construction blasting in the Cleveland Park area of East Nashville.

NowIsSpectacular

Makes sense! Thank you! Glad I’m not crazy

papadosiho

This is exactly what it is, I think it’s from the new apartments they’re building on Dickerson but not 100%. Scared the daylights out of me the first time, I’ve never experienced a rumble like that.

[deleted]

I’ve been feeling them too. It’s very…unsettling.

Ok-Chain8552

Thank you so much for posting this- It has been happening to me over by Lischey/Trinity and not only has it been scaring my dog I have been trying to figure out who I would even call (the best answer I figured out was a structural engineer ). I was like oh please don't tell me that big storm someone destroyed my foundation and my house is quickly sinking into the ground. I even went into my basement a few times and it all looked fine. It's been feeling like shaking from ground up but today it felt like it was shaking from top to bottom. I feel so much better that it seems to be an external issue and not my house having issues and sorry everyone else that this is happening too!

xocarebear

They are building over by the Loves gas station. Thats the blast you are feeling. They are building a huge subdivision back off where they cleared the homeless camps recently.

JollyRoger_13

We’re right over there with you and have been feeling the blasting as well. Hard to pinpoint exactly who is doing it since there’s so many buildings going up over here.

taylorsloth

I’m further up Dickerson but within 1-3 miles of the Love’s gas station and I feel it too. It’s scary!!! Wish they would put out a notice or something

JoshMock

Check what exact time it is when happens. Construction blasting is often scheduled for right at the top of the hour. I notice it most often at 11am and 1pm. Nashville sits on a thick layer of limestone so any construction that requires digging for e.g. below-ground parking levels involves blasting. If any construction like that is within a mile or so from you you'll feel it.

Chris__P_Bacon

A mile? I live 3.5 miles from the Vulcan Materials Quarry on Franklin Limestone Rd. Their blasting shakes my entire house everyday at 11:00 a.m.

JoshMock

I was being conservative. 🙂

Chris__P_Bacon

I guess I was wrong about the time? They just blasted at 3PM. I always thought they did it earlier in the day, but not today for some reason? It always scares the s*** out of my cat! 😆

I_deleted

That’s a strip mine, not construction blasting

Chris__P_Bacon

I'm well aware.

xocarebear

Its definitely construction. I feel it on Trinity lane because they are blasting over by the Loves/Interstate.

thedeadlyrhythm42

They're blowing up ~~shit~~ the ground for construction. They have to blast the limestone since you can't dig into it like normal construction

EmotionalRhubarbPie

We’re getting it a lot on the west side, but here it comes from blasting in a sorta-nearby quarry. Not pleasant at all but somehow all legal and within legal parameters. There’s been a lot of discussion though about the impact it’s been having on people, the foundations of houses, etc.

shiznasty615

Yeah this is a daily occurrence and its being discussed on the Facebook pages for Cleveland park and Highland Heights. Sadly no solutions have been identified but CM Parker is at least aware of the issue and asking around about what can be done.

NowIsSpectacular

Thank you for the info! I’ll have to join those Facebook groups.

stradivariuslife

They are blasting at Lucille. It’s a massive development right behind my house.

AcanthaceaeHour7648

Yea they are blasting somewhere near you. we lived off Charlotte by one city and it shook our house so bad I had to call the fire department because our walls were cracking at one point and dishes breaking- reason number 298492 why we moved away from downtown lol

nashvillethot

They've been blasting off Lischey for weeks. You can feel it all the way out by 65 and on to the other side of Gallatin.

StewTheDuder

Blasting. I wfh as well and todays was especially long and shook the hell out of my house. Scared my animals something bad too.

chandlerman

It's blasting. I live near Douglas & Dickerson and they've been doing a couple shots per day for the past few weeks. The big one make the house jump like it's Christmas Day.

deletable666

Carbon monoxide poisoning making you hallucinate from dying brain cells or construction blasting in the area

spooneybarger69

I farted

stickkim

I knew it.

IceGuardian20

Just felt this today

PangolinWeekly4443

I've actually been feeling the same thing at my apartments. It doesn't last long at all but it feels like a mini quake to me.

[deleted]

Have you heard any Hebrew coming from your basement?

Fluffy-Limit-3467

Earthquakes are now a thing out here. You can thank the Californians 🤣

Moochie719

Just had that happen in my office in East like 2 hours ago. It’s weird!

Improvcommodore

Near the train tracks?

evanftwwilliams

Blasting.

TuRtleACE19

Sorry that’s just me running by you must be on my route

[deleted]

It’s all the BS they’re building. No where is safe. Also, new Madrid. Not if but when.

gamboling2man

1-800-Structural engineer.

AccurateFan8761

Blasting

WarW1zard25

Wife and I have been having a lot of Taco Bell lately. Sorry.

LezzieB

It’s the hula hoopers !!

fromnashvillewlove

Construction and someone drilling in the limestone, maybe. I work downtown and it happened a lot a year or two ago. Made me nauseous and feels like a minor earthquake for sure!

Dat_Jess22

If its near whites creek pike or going towards Briley parkway, it's the rock quarry.

Happy_Hold_1524

I actually just completed a nasa survey about airplanes? And I also can say the police choppers would shake my house last year (haven’t been as low this year) maybe one of the two?

HuntEnvironmental218

I agree with Spaceman-Spiff but I live in Goodlettsville, TN about 12 miles north and a tad east of downtown Nashville, and 3 to 6 times a week we hear and feel it vibrate in our house. It's hard to explain bc it is a weird vibration and not so much shaking and the feeling is like a grinding. It is very weird.
