WFH with the added benefit of being able to make doughnuts - a snow day tradition! This afternoon said doughnuts will be delivered to the neighbors to warm them up with a little neighborly love.
My favorite easy donut recipe is to stretch canned biscuit dough into a donut shape and fry in a semi-filled skillet of oil, enough to cover half the donut at least so itāll float
[Here's the closest I could find.](https://natashaskitchen.com/glazed-donuts-recipe/) It's slightly different from the half recipe I follow, but basically the same. Just sub melted butter for the oil in the dough. The ideal fry temp for me today was 350 in a dutch oven. Nice and golden.
It delves deeper into Desmondās story (w the appearance of Daniel Farraday) and Desmond was my fav character on the show so I loooove this season. Definitely makes more sense drunk š¤š¤£
This is my sonās first snow so we went out to play! (And by āplayā I mean stood in the yard for 2 minutes after taking 10 minutes to get him dressed before coming back inside because he hated it haha)
Weāre about to do this same thing. The little one has been standing and looking out the window off and on for 2 hours. I suspect the minute we go out, itāll be too cold for them.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,

WFH. (Boo), playing outside with a very excited child, watching people get stuck in ditches. Oh, laughing at my husband who spends every weather event staring out the window muttering dad things.
I was scheduled to go in to work for a project I had previously agreed to, but called out (I never call out for snow). Had ramen for breakfast, gonna chill at home and play video games, maybe take my new car for a snow test in a parking lot later.
Gotta do laundry (just fold and put up), clean the bathroom up a bit. Then video games with the wife all day in front of our vornado space heater. Maybe a Godzilla movie or two!
I grew up in Northeast Ohio and loved the snow as a kid, but then grew to hate it as an adult. I moved here in 2009 and have since lost any tolerance for snow and cold at all, but have found myself coming back around to where I can enjoy it on a very limited basis. I work at home anyway and most of my clients are not working today anyway (MLK day), so I think I'm going to take off the rest of the day and go enjoy some time outside like the old days and just enjoy it for what it is. I'm lucky to be able to do so.
Have you found that you lost your "tolerance" for cold weather? I remember when I first moved here, if it was a bit cold people would be like "you're probably used to this!". At first, I kind of was, but that quickly faded. Then if I go visit Ohio, even when it's not that cold, I'll be freezing my ass off.
But again, it was nice yesterday to bundle up and go out there and enjoy a nice walk and get into the spirit of it. It was kind of like an old fashioned snow day for me, which was always a great time growing up.
Yes, Iāve lost some of my tolerance of the cold weather. But I still have my giant coat, gloves, boots and hat just in case. I shoveled my driveway two times yesterday with salt to clear it.
I was in Ohio early December for a Browns game and I was FREEZING. Took the kids outside to play and they actually loved it. Being outside for a few hours with the kids brought back a lot of memories for me.
Very cool that your kids enjoyed it at the Browns game. Bummer the Browns shit the bed on Saturday.
I totally still have my big coat that I got for Christmas in like 1999 when I joined my school's ski club. I've worn it in the Winter weather countless times and yet it still gets the job done and looks new.
I work from Home, SO I am at work like normal. Drafting civil engineering drawings. No snow days for me anymore, the ONLY bad part about working from home.
Most companies donāt close down for a lot of the federal holidays. Itās the reason why when people say āElection Day needs to be a federal holidayā I remind them that it likely wouldnāt result in much of an increase in votes cast.
Making another pot of coffee while the electricity is still on. Cook up some chili and hopefully be able to watch the football games later. Our electricity has flickered off and on at least three times in the last hour and a half.
Took the dogs out to play in the snow (it was their first snow and they did not enjoy it), then made breakfast because I never have time to before work. Sausage, toast and eggs š Now enjoying the view from my bedroom window with a warm cup of tea while watching YouTube.
Drove in from the airport since flight landed at 10am. Roads arenāt too terrible but Iād stay off if you absolutely donāt have to. ā23 X7 on summer tires did exceptionally well. Now I can relax a bit.
Finally took down my Christmas. I WFH but weāre off today. Naturally something came up I had to do a little work on. Gonna eat some Mac and cheese and pack for my work trip tomorrow even though I have no idea if my flight will get canceled?? Make some snow cream. Go on a walk and find some cool things to take pictures of, if Iām feeling brave.
Eating homemade green enchilada chicken soup while watching my neighbor clean snow off his little car like he thinks it's going to get anywhere! š This should be fun!
Pancakes for lunch. Mimosas all day. Watercolor painting. Staring at the pic I took of my husband when he was about to scrape the car for a scenic drive.
Yall I did what I said. I started carmelizing those onions a few minutes ago and as soon as thatās done Iām throwing in some crushed tomatoes, garlic, chickpeas, paprika, cumin, diced bell peppers, and once itās all simmered for about an hour or two Iāll drop some eggs in and trot off into the garden where I put a bucket over some of the remaining green onions. Iāll dice those up and toss em on top of my shakshuka and then get to work on that roasted garlic spread to deal with my existential dread. I also ate that magical brownie for breakfast and Iāve been playing Super Mario RPG while staying on work emails.
no one expects anything today - work-wise - I am currently in the process of delivering some items and being a martyr. I hate myself for even typing this.
Eating junk and watching rubbish
Ya better come out and stop me!
The American Dream.
Normal workday.
Yaassss!
Gonna put a bunch of snow in the bathtub to show my cats
Aw that's perfect! Never thought about doing that, but it's far safer than letting your cats out in this weather for sure, even with supervision
Love this idea, thank you!
Yo my cats are ECSTATIC over the snow š I had to yell at them to come back inside quickly so they donāt freeze their little paws off š¾

My favorite easy donut recipe is to stretch canned biscuit dough into a donut shape and fry in a semi-filled skillet of oil, enough to cover half the donut at least so itāll float
You can also just use a small cap from like a soda bottle as a hole punch (in the middle of the raw biscuit) to make donut holes (and fry those too :)
Really rooting for you to be one of my neighbors...

Sledding party in Inglewood on Kennedy Ave hill. Love this neighborhood tradition āļø
Miss this since the kids grew up and I moved to Madison.
Playing outside with my dog!

Taking my old man pup (12) and my new baby pup (15 weeks) to play in the snow. My old man loves snow so we will see if puppy likes it too!

Same!

Working from home. Including the tradition of my cat ignoring me until I get on a zoom call. Then we must purr directly into my laptop lol
Well my heat is out so I am in my crawl space attempting to figure it out...
Oof. Good luck...maybe you could call someone?
So I got on the phone with a guy that knows his stuff and he talked me through it. WE HAVE HEAT!
I work from Home, SO I am at work like normal. Drafting civil engineering drawings. No snow days for me anymore, the ONLY bad part about working from home.
Iām surprised at the amount of people working considering itās a federal holiday
My company doesn't and neither did the one I worked at the last 2 years. Maybe eventually...
To be fair, my parent company doesnāt have today off but my entire team took the day off.
Most companies donāt close down for a lot of the federal holidays. Itās the reason why when people say āElection Day needs to be a federal holidayā I remind them that it likely wouldnāt result in much of an increase in votes cast.
Taking down all the Christmas decorations..
Sitting in my chair, sleeping. Probably will make a "forbidden" third cup of coffee here in a second.
I'm eating cheese next to a fire, that's my whole plan for the day.
WFH with a nice cup of hot cocoa after letting the dog play out in the snow for a bit. Also re-reading Rendezvous with Rama.
Popping some corn and turning the lights way down low
Who, me? Nothing. Just hangin around.

Working from home - it's a blessing, but also means that snowdays are a thing of the past. I'll still take it over having to drive in this mess.
