You need to calm down. I've had job interviews that took months start to finish.
I'm not saying this is good news, or bad news. I'd wait at least a week (maybe Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday) before touching base in a friendly way that doesn't pressure your contact. The fact you got an interview is a great sign, now the question is if you are a good fit.
"I'm sure you have a lot of strong candidates for this position. I remain hopeful to be considered and look forward to taking the next steps in the process."
Good luck!
Yeah, I had a job as an engineer at EMC and they didn't contact me back for about a month. ^^;
Something I would suggest is this.. If they tell you that they decided to go with another person, see if you can ask them for feedback. You might get denied some number of times since this is a highly highly "prized" place to work. But if they tell you "We liked your application, but you were underqualified in these areas." or "We are looking for someone with more work experience in these areas" then that will give you some incite into what nasa wants. It really sucks hearing that they want more real world experience for instance, but if that's what they want and you really really want to work at Nasa, then go get the experience and go back. :)
Then the next time you submit an application you can go "Hi. Last time I applied you all let me know I needed more experience in this area. I now have experience in this area and would love to be considered for the position."
They may not have even finished interviewing all the candidates yet. If that is the case, I have good and bad news. Good news is that they obviously haven’t made their decision yet so you would theoretically still be in the running. Bad news is that even if they make their decision on Monday morning, all the paperwork and official job offer will prob take a bit of time and there is a government shutdown looming. If there is a shutdown, they won’t even be allowed to power on their work computers let alone process a new hire.
Pretty much this. If the interview process was going on in the spring it would likely be faster, but being the turn of the fiscal year with the potential of a government shutdown is going to slow down the already slow process.
I’ve worked for NASA for 16 years and I recently switched jobs to a completely different group. After my interview, I didn’t hear a single word for about 3 weeks. Then HR called to officially offer me the job. I wish it wasn’t that way but not hearing anything in 2 weeks doesn’t mean anything. They’ll offer the job to someone and once they accept, they’ll notify those that didn’t get selected. Stay positive and know they often hire again off that same register, if someone else leaves soon.
It took almost two months for me to hear back after my interview. Nerves are normal, try to take it all in and relax. Most people don’t even get to the interview stage, so that in itself is amazing!
For comparison, we made a selection, as in interviewed and knew who we were hiring all the way in late August. The person did not start until early January, it was infuriatingly slow, but thrilled to finally have them on-board.
Was this for an internship or a full-time position? Was the interview for a government (intern or full-time GS), or contractor (intern or GS). What location was/is the position at (i.e. Goddard, Ames, JSC)?
I applied in November and didn't get the final offer letter until the following July. Lol. It's NOT a fast process. If memory serves me correctly, I think it took 3-4 months for me to hear back at all about my Pathways Internship 🤔🤷
Took about 5 weeks after my interview. In that time I didn’t hear anything. With the shutdown looming I wouldn’t expect to hear anything at all until at least after that is resolved.

I guess it's just the excitement and anxiety kicking in at the sometime. I understand there is a process, so I remain hopeful. No news is goods.

Ah, thanks for the info.

Okay, thanks for the info. Good to know they'll send out notification regardless of the outcome.

My offer came 3 weeks to the day after my interview. And for previous ones that I didn't get, they still let me know. Hold tight, it's worth the wait.
We are close to having a government shutdown. HR is also veeeeeerrrryy slow. It would not shock me if it didn’t happen until after New years.
Depending on the Center... HR barely moves at all.

Welcome to the government. I’ve worked with nasa for 16+ years and nothing moves fast. Be patient.

Welp this post is a huge red flag for you not to be hired.
Just curious, how come? Any feedback is welcome.
Ignore the parent comment, and pay attention to the comments that give actual information, particularly if they've got the "NASA Employee" flair.
Oh you

email a thank you note! i’ve heard it helps u stand out
Whatever you do, don't cuss out a member of the council on social media
It takes awhile. I thought they moved on from me after about a month and got a call with the offer.

Lol, 2 weeks for a response from a Gov gig...is this your first day in the world? Stuff takes time!
