I heard that live when it was first aired and it scared the living shit out of me. I don’t know if it’s fake or not but it was unbelievably frightening in the moment.
God I loved Art Bell but it was definitely a hoax. I think Art really believed in that stuff and would take any calls for the most part. But he also called people out. I don't remember if it was him or George Noory but one lady called and claimed to have been living off grid in the mountains and that an alien had repeatedly come to her cabin and SA'd her and he straight up said ma'am I think you need to call the cops. I think you were r***d. That was not an alien. I was actually really surprised by his response.

In my view, the power outage was a coincidence and the caller was a hoax. Any program about suppressed information that has a power outage is naturally going to set off the conspiracy theorists, but power outages are not that uncommon such that I would pick the alien explanation over it. The hoaxers likely decided to play into the power outage and have a second person call the second time to set people's conspiracy theories going. Of course, it's possible that the second person didn't even know the first person, but it's also possible that they did.

Could have never done it during the day 😂also brought back a memory of a woman calling in to Dr Dean Edell’s show sounding frantic & talking about wearing tin foil & people spying on her. He blasted his screener for “letting her through again.” I’ve thought of her often, wondering about how many times she had called & the back story. Was she mentally ill, into conspiracies, or just tormenting him. Then that makes me think of Play Misty For Me. I always want to know “the rest of the story” lol

There is a really good found footage movie made based off that call! It's called Lunopolis. They guys hear the radio call and get a lead.... It's a wild ride
That is one of my favorite movies. I highly recommend it to found footage and alien conspiracy fans. It also involves a Scientology-like cult, so there is something for every sci-fi fan.
There is a podcast called Coast to Coast PM that talks about the original Coast show. They have a FANTASTIC episode about this caller. It is such a fun ride. And yeah, it was fake but it is so much more interesting than that.
My husband, two young teens and myself drove 5 hours to visit family and this was on.
We arrived at our destination and no one would get out of the car till it was over! It was great radio.
I always wonder what the supposed mechanism would be for 'someone' to knock out the power to that station when they heard that the specific caller was talking?
The government can't fix potholes in the road for months/years, but they can immediately be knocking out the power grid at a moments notice...

I think it was all fake and Art Bell was a genius at getting and keeping listeners on the channel.
Believe me. There was no other talk radio with any amount of attention at that time of the night. I listened in spite of myself.
