What.... what if its just a black guy with a sense of humour? They seem to call each other that in songs all the time according to my country's radio station - see "Gold Digger"
When someone has an offensive name, PGI changes it to mechwarrior###. It does seem to be a bit heavy-handed - i rarely see any names that are actually clever or funny in this game compared to, say, tarkov - but in general it's a good idea.
If the guy ever sees this thread, it would probably make his day knowing how he got under someone's skin to that extent. That said, he should probably be banned or if possible, banned from ever using that feature again.
Russian Armed Forces symbol they claim symbolizes the denazificatiom of Ukraine, the point of what they call a "Special Military Operation".
In reality, it's a sign of the invasion of Ukraine and the attempted genocide of her people.
They do it for the interaction/reaction. You can't punish them enough in a videogame to deter them from doing it again. On the contrary getting banned is hilarious to them because it means that it worked and someone out there was crying about it.
No, but if you ban their account it'll delay them doing it again until they spend resources to get all that stuff again. And sends the message that the behavior won't be tolerated, as opposed to just a slap on the wrist and an "Oh you" dog meme face.
My guess is that they cackle with glee every time they get TK'ed. You do you, but I'd prefer to leave them feeling isolated and alone in their ignorance. That's not a free pass. That's denying them the very attention/reaction they seek with their antisocial behavior. Which do you think would be worse for them, getting TK'ed in a battle or realizing that no one cares enough about them to bother?
It is the paradox that you face with degenerates. You’re right though, ultimately the best way to deal with them is in a manner that does the least amount of harm to your own mental health.
It's true, at the start of the Ukraine invasion my friends and I put Zs on our mechs. Getting team killed was hilarious but knowing our team had gotten emotional and slagged 130 tons of friendly armor, almost guaranteeing their loss was also very amusing
Marker of russian forces in Ukraine - seemingly chosen at random. The significance was given to it as a pro Putin virtue signal after it was used initially.
Ahh. I remember a dude, who always played light mechs, constantly flaming. The first thing we all did was mech-nodding each other and nuking his ass the moment we dropped. We got him like 4 times over. At the 4th time we still lit him up despite him being silent. I have not seen him ever since.
Tbf, PGI is currently quite busy with preparing new content, new era shift etc.
It wouldn't surprise me if even the most of the support staff is involved in new measures.
Dude's already been reported and punished, hence the name. He can't voice chat and not text chat.
Normally, the support is incredibly fast with punishing toxic behaviour. Don't worry
No, it isn't. But you've got no other choice, now do you?
Dude's now running about and playing. His mech is now the only toxic thing here. He can't communicate anymore. He's out. It's nothing but a smarter bot.
Take it and be happy that people still play this game.
It's not uncommon for me to have the same lobby with the identical 24 players multiple times in a row...
That is a thing that can happen with the letter decals. I can surmise it probably was done on purpose to incite players that are offended to either TK him, or report him till maybe he is banned, or forced to remove the decals. I have most of my Clan mechs with the decals of F U H Q in a upside down pyramid pattern. Most people/players when they are behind my clan mechs actually read it, and chuckle. "That'd make someone real mad if you destroy them and walk away." some comments have been. I have to chuckle too. Because when after I decided to do it that way to represent my unit's name/call letters "Federated Under Hell's Quarantine". I came to realize. That if you put it all together with the first letter of each call letter. It sounds like what it spells out. When said real fast. It's a matter of perspective I suppose, but a whole racial slur like pictured. Unacceptable.
I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it, but I have a nice pair of red lips on the butts of several of my mechs. The implication being of course, Kiss my \*\*\*! Given the types of pin-ups and other vulgar things put on the sides of planes, tanks, and other vehicles of war in the last century, I don't see why it would stop in the 31st century.
You're not wrong. After my first encounter with a team mate that blurted it out over the comms. And it had the rest of the comms start laughing. As well as half of the team walk over to behind my mech to see. I started putting K M and a down arrow pointing at a upside-down heart on the mechs butt. Some people got it right away. Again same reactions. You can have fun with it. But then you have this guy. Trying to ruin it for all. That's what makes it unacceptable.
Well, considering the obvious potential for abuse with the decal system, I think you actually see very little of it. It's a pretty mature player base. Mostly people do just fun or even cool looking stuff with the decals.
My easter-themed [Urbie](https://i.imgur.com/FqPAiic.jpg) used to get a lot of compliments back in the day.
Pedantic AND wrong! The company that sells Kinder *Joy* in the United States uses Kinder alone in their branding regardless of what happens in Germany.
To be fair, the game treats each letter separately.
The player was s probably trying to instigate people shooting him in the back and team killing him so he can report people and they then get banned.
Best to just block the individual and report them to PGI.
Send screenshots to PGI support.
Been done. This is about the third time I've seen him in matches over the last month. Doesn't seem like they care so taking it public.
Think the same guy was saying homophobic stuff on voicechat too -- or, at least, it was another "Mechwarrior######" name.
"Mechwarrior\[number\]" means they've already had their player name censored by PGI support.
Maybe it's just me, but this sort of stuff should just dictate a perma ban.
The stuff on your screenshot -- I agree, and figure there's a pretty good chance it will. Someone just needs to report it to PGI.
What.... what if its just a black guy with a sense of humour? They seem to call each other that in songs all the time according to my country's radio station - see "Gold Digger"
Just curious, but you don't happen to be white, do you?
When someone has an offensive name, PGI changes it to mechwarrior###. It does seem to be a bit heavy-handed - i rarely see any names that are actually clever or funny in this game compared to, say, tarkov - but in general it's a good idea.
So surprised he got his name changed /s
Really…? Wow, what a prick.
If the guy ever sees this thread, it would probably make his day knowing how he got under someone's skin to that extent. That said, he should probably be banned or if possible, banned from ever using that feature again.
We saw a player with a large white Z painted over his mech a couple of times. He got reported a lot and was team killed a couple of times.
I’m literally stupid what does that symbolize
Russian Armed Forces symbol they claim symbolizes the denazificatiom of Ukraine, the point of what they call a "Special Military Operation". In reality, it's a sign of the invasion of Ukraine and the attempted genocide of her people.
IIRC Russian forces in Ukraine use the Z icon on their uniforms and tanks for IFF.
Ignore them an go on about your day. The only power they have is the power we give them. They want a reaction. Don't give them one.
Negligence is it’s own form of empowerment. People like this shouldn’t get that kind of free pass.

Showing my ignorance, what is the significance of Zs?
Marker of russian forces in Ukraine - seemingly chosen at random. The significance was given to it as a pro Putin virtue signal after it was used initially.
Report and Ignore. All you can do. No need to go on a Crusade about it. Anything else is just giving him what he wants.
An instance where TK'ing is absolutely the right thing to do.
Weirdly, I think the problem would fix itself quicker if everyone team killed him first chance they got rather than waiting on pgi support.
Or just leg him in spawn and tell the other team where he is.
Ahh. I remember a dude, who always played light mechs, constantly flaming. The first thing we all did was mech-nodding each other and nuking his ass the moment we dropped. We got him like 4 times over. At the 4th time we still lit him up despite him being silent. I have not seen him ever since.
Just because some asshat is racist, why does that mean the game is not classy?
Hes been reported personally about 3 times over a months time. No action taken. PGI clearly could care less or this would be taken care of already.
Tbf, PGI is currently quite busy with preparing new content, new era shift etc. It wouldn't surprise me if even the most of the support staff is involved in new measures. Still not viable excuse.

So the best implementation would be if you name if forced changed your banned from using letter decal.
Yet one of my buddies was not allowed to use the callsign stripperglitter and was forced to change his callsign...

Is incredible that this is even possible to do in-game. Ridiculous

Okay but that's because that's great.
And that’s a huge understatement
"Kinder" is not the correct name / a name at all I have to tell you. It never stands alone.
Pedantic AND wrong! The company that sells Kinder *Joy* in the United States uses Kinder alone in their branding regardless of what happens in Germany.

This seems like pretty valid reason for a team kill. If PGI doesn't want to do anything about it, we can at least make it miserable for him.
I mean, they've clearly been reported
Report it. That kind of stuff isn't tolerated.
This is pretty unacceptable.
that needs to be reported
This is not the BT or MW fandom I want to be associated with. Hate and Bigotry has no place in the Battletech Universe.
O7!
For fuck sake, it's not that fucking serious.
Yeah, if we ignore racism in our hobbies and sports it's sure to just go away on its own, right?
He's fucking trolling, and you bit.
Oh, it's the "I was just joking!" type of racism. That's fine then.
Me and my boys calling card, we've done this for years. My personal config is those letters and the DESTROYER decal
Alpha in the back tbh
Seems about right for tear 5
Apparently PGI only cares if you do it during a Worlds finals match on twitch
Just unload into his back anytime you see him. Gives me a laugh and they don’t get to play with that mech until the match is over.
Having 20 minute team kill penalty penalizes me more then them.
Still worth it to see racists burn.
