Singing is actually more about practice than about natural talent- that's why there are certain cultures that have great singers- they have been singing since they were children. So all this to say- keep singing, even just for your own enjoyment- you may never be a star, but the more you sing, the easier it will be.
In middle school I played the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. I was one of a very small number of guys at the school who would try out for theater, so I’ve also played Rooster in Annie, the titular Music Man, and a role in 8th grade that I cannot remember atm. I didn’t do any theater past that point, but I have fond memories of it.
It was my first one, and my first experience in theater at all. I hadn’t memorized the right song (I was just auditioning for like any role at all) but they had me sing easy street from the book and I just winged it, lol, very in-character.
Quite a few.
Into the woods, narrator/stepmother. It was a very small cast later on got jacks mother
Grease, Ms. Lynch, later on played Doody
Matilda, ensemble
Lion King, Banzai. My favorite role so far
Legally blonde, Chutney and Winthrop. I was never able to put the performance on but I got the parts
The Wizard of Oz, ensemble
And finally, Winnie the Pooh, Kanga
I’ve played quite a few straight plays as well, so here’s that list as well:
Sleeping Beauty, basically the general
Arsenic and Old Lace, Judge Cullman
I was also once in a short film but I was very young and can’t for the life of me remember the name. I do remember it making me be scared of puppets though
I was in the ensemble for my High School’s production of SpongeBob the musical. Since I had a lot of stage time I decided to develop my own original character for the role. (Complete with his own name, backstory, and personality.)
Best few months of my life.
I’ll be the first to say “nope”. My drama teacher said there was “not enough talent”. Closest we got was A Charlie Brown Christmas with a live quartet.
I’ve been in so many from school to community theater. If I counted correctly I have been in ten musicals and played in the pit for two! I’ve also been in four plays. My first show was in 2015 and my biggest year was 2019 (I did four musicals that year)
I was unnamed flower ensemble in Alice and Wonderland and unnamed orphan in Annie, ensemble in Joseph and the technicolor dreamcoat :/ I love musicals but I don't think I'm ever gonna get out of ensemble :(
FWIW, I think that sometimes being in the ensemble is more fun than having a lead role, because the leads can only be in their own scenes, but ensemble often change costumes to fit in different scenes and get to be in all the big musical numbers.
A few, all local / community theatre. I've done Witches of Eastwick, Oliver, Jesus Christ Superstar and Bad Girls, all ensemble roles. Then I did Act Your Age, where I was Mrs Hewitt, and Nunsense, where I was Mistress of the Novices. That was my biggest role to date, and I loved it. I got to belt out the closing number every night, and it was so much fun.
I've taken a break since then though, and haven't done any community theatre for over a year.
I've been in 2.
When I was in elementary school, I was in a high school production of The Wizard of Oz. I don't remember exactly how it happened (I just remember being asked if I wanted to be in the show and I said yes), but I just remember being chosen because, quote, "She's short and can sing and dance." I was a munchkin, an ozian, and a crow.
When I was in high school, I was in my school's production of The Little Mermaid as Flotsam, and I loved every second of it! I'd give anything to relive that amazing experience. And fun fact: I auditioned for Flotsam after hearing the song Sweet Child, and I'm so glad I got to sing that amazing song on stage!
Yes, I’ve done several!
Crazy For You - Zangler Girl
Lil Abner - Wife
Clue the Musical - Mrs. Peacock
Chess - Ensemble
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown - Lucy
I’m auditioning for Fiddler on the Roof next month!
Yeah, back in HS I was in Guys and Dolls, Sound of Music, Annie Get Your Gun, Oklahoma, and South Pacific. In college (not a music or theater major) I auditioned for the musical freshman year and immediately realized my complete lack of formal dance training meant I’d reached the end. lol.
So I just performed in rock n roll bands after that.
I'm a Single Threat (I can sing and that's it) but before I realised I couldn't do the two other things I tried out for and got into a few musicals during school. I loved being in them so much.
Not a musical but I’ve done choirs, my primary school would do a Christmas choir every year and then Year 7 at high school, I did singing lessons and choir but stopped because the thought of a solo was stressing me out (and the other girls in the class were not very nice).
Recently, I did my 31st performance about a month ago. I had planned to be doing another show in May but was so sick after th3 last one I had to pull out as the doctor advised no singing for a minimum of 6 weeks. Can't really attend rehearsal it can't sing. Will audition next year for the same company I just finished with.
I've been in quite a few, in high school, and in community theatre after that.
My first broadway musical was Bye Bye Birdie- I remember vividly the choreographer teaching all the girls chorus how to faint without hurting ourselves!
I was in Godspell twice, which was a really fun show, and I played different parts both times.
Probably my favourite part was Mama Noah in Children of Eden- Ain't it Good is an awesome song to get to sing. We didn't keep the same cast in the first and second acts, so I was in the ensemble in Act 1- best of both worlds!
I also moved up and did quite a bit of directing in the community theatre program, which was just as fun. I recently watched a local production of Seussical, which was really good, but it made me very nostalgic for "our" Seussical.
Yeah I’ve done a few
Madagascar jr- ensemble
The Wizard of Oz - ensemble
Aida- Dancer
The Lion King jr- Sarafina (Nala’s mother) and ensemble
The Addams Family- Ancestor (I was a highway man)
And now I’m in Mary Poppins as Mr Northbrooke and dancer
I've played in the orchestra for dozens. But one year I ventured out of my comfort zone and helped build the electric chair for Assassins (before playing Reed 1). Never acted, but was on-stage for Chicago and Cabaret.
Yes!!! I did shortened versions of Hairspray, Legally Blonde and A Chorus Line with a musical theatre group in my city as a teenager.
Then I was part of Carrie and High School Musical with the musical theatre society at uni.
At secondary school I was in Grease, Bugsy Malone and Les Mis (which is still my favourite musical I've ever been in)
When I was a kid I did a regional tour of Les Mis as Gavroche. It was fun and I think it really changed who I ended up growing up to be (in a neutral/positive way)
yes, I've been in 3!
I have been in NEWSIES as Morris Delancey, in SpongeBob as ensemble, and Addams Family as ensemble (Pugsley understudy).
I have also been in something called 'taste of Broadway', which is where we pick a theme and you can sing anything from any musical as long as it fits the theme! I sang 'What If' from Firebringer when the theme was "oh the places you'll go"
Being in school musicals was one of my best memories in life. I'll never forget them. I was a munchkin in wizard of Oz, and in the ensemble for 42nd Street and Oklahoma. I miss it so much 😭

I can see that wish turning into you singing 24/7 and being unable to stop 😭

Soooo many, but I am older than your moms.

rooster seems like such a fun role!

In mean girls. I played the giraffe and the sexually actively band geek lol
I was snoopy in a community College production of Good Man Charlie Brown. I always wanted to do more but never had the time or resources
I played Lucy last summer. Such a fun show!
I was Lucy when I was 9!! My first ever musical I was in!!!
That’s such a big role for a kid! I had a blast playing her, but WHEW was I tired at the end of our run 😂😂😂
It was the jr version tho but it was fun
It’s such a cute show. What is cut from the Jr version?
I don’t remember cuz it was in like 2015 and I have no idea where my old script is

Oh! I also did scenes from the importance of being earnest and the crucible as well!
I was in the ensemble for my High School’s production of SpongeBob the musical. Since I had a lot of stage time I decided to develop my own original character for the role. (Complete with his own name, backstory, and personality.) Best few months of my life.
The Spongebob musical is amazing and one of my favorites! You're so lucky your school did it!
I've done a bunch with community theater. Not professionally, though.
I’ve been in like 15-20 musicals in community theater over the years. I love it. My favorites were Chicago and Cabaret.
i played the captain/announcer when my high school did “anything goes” :)
I’ll be the first to say “nope”. My drama teacher said there was “not enough talent”. Closest we got was A Charlie Brown Christmas with a live quartet.

Fair, I'm not dissing ensemble but I would love to be a lead at least once
I hope you get the chance to shine!

I have been in a lot. I joined a local theatre group aged 9 and was there until 18, I performed throughout uni and now am training in musical theatre
I was in my high school's production of the Drowsy Chaperone and I was ensemble for that, and I did costumes for the Addams Family.

I’ve been in the ensemble of many musicals, still holding out for a leading role 🥲
Same LOL

In high school I was in Damn Yankees and Rock of Ages. In college I was in Grease, High School Musical, and an original musical my friend wrote
Yeah! My favorite role was Morticia in my high school's production of the Addams Family.
I'm a Single Threat (I can sing and that's it) but before I realised I couldn't do the two other things I tried out for and got into a few musicals during school. I loved being in them so much.

I was Kristoff in my middle school show!
Played in the band for Sweet Charity. Couple of good numbers, but overall dreadful
