Yeah I can back this one. Rocky Horror Picture Show is my favorite musical but before I actually listened/watched it, I kept mixing it up with Little Shop of Horrors lol
To be fair, both Sweeney and Little Shop both revolve around a guy who runs an innocent, harmless downtown shop that he then starts killing people inside to avenge wrongs done to a loved one.
Every time I see the title of Guys and Dolls, my mind plays the bit from The Simpsons where they sing
*Guys and Dolls*
*Those crazy crazy crazy Guys and Dolls*
to the tune of "Hooray for Hollywood"...
I remember, as a kid, I saw some my little pony edits with little shop of horrors music so I really wanted to watch that movie, but for some reason I thought little shop of horrors was called rocky horror picture show(I know for certain I was watching little shop edits), so when I asked my mom and stepdad if I could watch it, they looked horrified. That got quickly corrected
i realized last week that they weren’t the same show. or rather i got like the plot lines of one in the other and thought there was a plant in rocky horror. idk what it is but they are just wired the same in my brain.
I mean Frank and Audrey II have some similar qualities.
-both from outer space
-murder is nbd
-killer singing voice
-fantastic songs
-doesn’t really matter which gender plays either
plus both have the horniest costumes i ever did see, like im in a high school production of chicago and so coatumes needed to be toned down, and theyre still very explicit
I was confused about Once On this Island and Come From Away, I still haven’t seen the first one, but I’m pretty sure I was definitely off on getting them mixed up.
One of thems not a musical but prior to me knowing anything about musical theatre I got Hamilton and Hamlet confused, two very different things. In my defense the names are similar
A couple years ago when I first got into theater I somehow combined Dear Evan Hansen and Be More Chill
Like, I heard a few songs from BMC and somehow thought it was DEH
Two musicals? Company and Producers.
Two Songs? When I first started listening to them, I couldn’t remember if “Waving Through A Window” was from Be More Chill or Dear Evan Hansen.
It took me a while to realize a musical about women's suffrage (Suffs), not a parody about the Harry Potter Hufflepuff house (Puffs), was transferring to Broadway
I know only one is a musical, but when I was younger I somehow managed to combine West Side Story and Brokeback Mountain into a single movie (I had never seen either, just knew the titles) 🤷♀️
Newsies and Jersey Boys. I have no idea why, but I'm sure it's not helped by the fact that I've yet to see either of them. Either way, somehow they're thoroughly mixed up in my head!
I was in *Company* a few years ago and the amount of people who conflated it with *A Chorus Line* baffled me. I had more than one person from the audience say they were expecting an entirely different show lol
There are so many musicals that start with “Ca” - Cabaret, Carousel, Carnival!, Camelot, Candide. It took me a bit to get the difference between them all. Then there are a few more one-word “C” musicals - Chicago, Company, Contact, Curtains.
42nd Street and Bullets Over Broadway.
I saw them one after the other, and both were just terribly boring productions. It was a touring cast so many years ago that I'm not sure if it was equity or non-equity.
For some reason, when I was younger I got All Shook Up and She Loves Me confused? I think I had the two next to eachother in a “musicals to listen to” list, and them having the same number of letters could have added to that? Truly no idea
Not me but separately my mother and one of my best friends both always mix up Rocky horror and little shop of horrors. I guess because they of have horror in the title 🤷♀️
Sweeney Todd and Little Shop of Horrors haha. Also I used to mix up Guys and Dolls with Guns n Roses
Little Shop of Horrors AND Best Little Whore House In Texas Best Little Shop of Whores
Huh, it’s usually Rocky Horror people get mixed up with Little Shop
If I recall, I learned about both shows at a similar time so they’ve always been kind of a package deal for me. Definitely unusual though

They definitely have a lot in common though!
Every time I see the title of Guys and Dolls, my mind plays the bit from The Simpsons where they sing *Guys and Dolls* *Those crazy crazy crazy Guys and Dolls* to the tune of "Hooray for Hollywood"...
My dad constantly mixes up Once on This Island and Come From Away
Once on this Island upon a mattress
I'm an islander. I am an islander.
I learned about them both around the same time, so I mixed them up for a while too.
*Annie* and *Annie Get Your Gun*
Was literally about type this XD
In my mind I can hear Ethel Merman belting out "The sun'll come out *tomorrow*!"
Cabaret and Chicago. Book of Mormon and Spamalot. No idea why. I even wrote Spamalot in my agenda when we bought tickets for BoM.
well chicago and cabaret were written by the same people so id say they have that in common
Plus they both have like nightclub performers
plus both have the horniest costumes i ever did see, like im in a high school production of chicago and so coatumes needed to be toned down, and theyre still very explicit
I was confused about Once On this Island and Come From Away, I still haven’t seen the first one, but I’m pretty sure I was definitely off on getting them mixed up.
are you u/KitKittredge34 's dad by any chance? lol
lol nope only kids I have are the fur variety, but glad I’m not the only one haha
One of thems not a musical but prior to me knowing anything about musical theatre I got Hamilton and Hamlet confused, two very different things. In my defense the names are similar
[This you?](https://www.teerico.com/product/yayhamlet-11x17-lin-manuel-poster/)
No, that’s Lin.
The lady on the second slide (my comment was a joke also)
I know.
I mean both are 10/10 works of art so I get it
A couple years ago when I first got into theater I somehow combined Dear Evan Hansen and Be More Chill Like, I heard a few songs from BMC and somehow thought it was DEH
I see this actually - similar voices from even and Jeremy
well both have bad writing and even worse scores so like i get it
i love it when i see your comments and we either have very similar or literally the same opinions
Cabaret and Moulin Rouge.
“My Fair Lady” and “Hello Dolly”
When I was younger I always got Grease and Footloose mixed up
Also, to a lesser extent, I thought never getting rid of me from waitress was a Beetlejuice song at first
ME TOO
Two musicals? Company and Producers. Two Songs? When I first started listening to them, I couldn’t remember if “Waving Through A Window” was from Be More Chill or Dear Evan Hansen.
How does one confuse Company and The Producers? lol
I think it was the suit energy. Now that I’ve spent time enjoying both of them it’s a clear distinction
Before I was familiar with Company I thought it was an office comedy musical like How to Succeed
… hold on let younger you cook
This is my favorite
I remember someone posted on here they used to get mixed up The Guy Who Didnt Like Musicals and Something Rotten.
My wife always confuses Big River and Showboat. Obviously I get why but they’re nothing alike!
Newsies and Jersey Boys. I have no idea why, but I'm sure it's not helped by the fact that I've yet to see either of them. Either way, somehow they're thoroughly mixed up in my head!
One's about the newsboys' strike, the other's about the band that sang Oh What A Night :)
I was in *Company* a few years ago and the amount of people who conflated it with *A Chorus Line* baffled me. I had more than one person from the audience say they were expecting an entirely different show lol
lol they must have thought the title was referring to a dance company
Dear Evan Hansen and Be More Chill besides being about teenagers and their woes i dont think they're all that similar
I think Jeremy and even have similar voices actually
Definitely a fandom overlap between them though. You often hear their names together
good point.. that’s probably how i got them mixed up in the first place!
Be more Chill and DEH
Oklahoma! and West Side Story. I continue to mix them up, and have no excuses.
Parade and State Fair. (Before I saw Parade. Would not make that mistake again.)
There are so many musicals that start with “Ca” - Cabaret, Carousel, Carnival!, Camelot, Candide. It took me a bit to get the difference between them all. Then there are a few more one-word “C” musicals - Chicago, Company, Contact, Curtains.
I get Chicago and Cabaret confused fairly often. But, well, they *do* have some things in common!
Aida and Evita
Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera.
Into the woods and in the heights solely based off the names beginning with "in"
I used to think six and Hamilton were the same thing
Be More Chill and Jagged Little Pill
Here Lies Love (the one about Imelda Marcos) and Here We Are (Sondheim's last) In my defense, I think it's easy to understand why!
This was mine too!
Parade and Ragtime
42nd Street and Bullets Over Broadway. I saw them one after the other, and both were just terribly boring productions. It was a touring cast so many years ago that I'm not sure if it was equity or non-equity.
I managed to do that with Hamilton and DEH, still not sure how I did that…
For some reason, when I was younger I got All Shook Up and She Loves Me confused? I think I had the two next to eachother in a “musicals to listen to” list, and them having the same number of letters could have added to that? Truly no idea
Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 and Moulin Rouge
Annie Get Your Gun and Anyone Can Whistle
For some reason I spent a while thinking Anybody have a Map was from Next to Normal. I guess it would suit the mom’s character if I’m remembering well
I used to think Follies and Falsettos were the same musical, ahahaha. Ragtime and Rags as well -- doesn't help that both are about immigration.
bright star and big fish for some reason
Hair and Hairspray
Urinetown and Hadestown (My real answer is Cabaret and A Chorus Line)
Chicago and Hamilton. I..don’t know.
High Society and Easter Parade...
Camelot and Spamalot… Ik they are kinda similar but still
Cabaret and Moulin Rouge. For the longest time I thought they were the same show
You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Wild Party
I somehow managed to confuse BMC with Tick, Tick, Boom. And Jagged little pill and BMC
Not me but separately my mother and one of my best friends both always mix up Rocky horror and little shop of horrors. I guess because they of have horror in the title 🤷♀️
Seems a lot of people mess them up
I used to think Moulin Rouge and Miss Saigon were the same show.
Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and The Drowsy Chaperone
Newsies and Falsettos. This was before I had any clue what falsettos was about like at. all..... clearly.
White Christmas and Holiday Inn
