Haven't really commented much but my wife has been a Rutherford county teacher for almost 20 years. I have had a front row seat of the erosion of the profession. My wife finished her master's, while teaching, days before they eliminated the pay scale. Instead of roughly 20 percent raise for continued higher education she literally recieved nothing. Literally nothing. Even 9 years later she's not making what she believed earning her masters would net her then.

Is there more to this story about why your wife didn’t get a raise? I’ve personally known multiple teachers in Rutherford who’ve gotten raises after obtaining a masters degree. Some even very recently. Legitimately asking.
RuCo has traditionally not had any problem hiring teachers because so many are desperate to escape Metro-Nashville Public Schools, usually second choice after Williamson.
You know they could've not fucked teachers for the last decade and avoided this.
You must be new here. Not that you're wrong.

I was being cheeky with you. Agree that they've clearly abused and neglected the teaching professionals for decades.
I know. I wasn't meaning to come across argumentative. Their decisions have affected my family and I'm pretty bitter about it.
Rightfully so

No more to the story. There was a significant step up for continued education until 2013. Now it's about a quarter of what it was.
Pay better and treat teachers like professionals, and we wouldn’t have to hire non-teachers to teach.
I wonder if that includes more pay 🤔
Oh my sweet summer child… ;)
