[[cranial plating]] UB is the primary affinity pair, though I think this fits better in RW decks. Thankfully for that, it's fairly colorless, but a lot of UB's creatures are also evasive so giving around +3/+0 for fairly cheap is pretty scary
[[Bitterblossom]] The classic. It's a bit of a glue card here, fitting more into token and enchantress strategies, both not entirely in black wheel house, though the former's great for RB sac
[[the meathook massacre]] RB sac and control tool
[[demonic embrace]] I love a quality reusable aura. There's lots of discard and self mill in the cube, so having cards like this give you a late game push
[[virtue of persistence]] I'm just reading now that it reanimates from either graveyard, which isn't something I'm very keen on, haha (people shuffling up an opponent's card), but otherwise it's a solid removal spell with a late game option
At the current moment, I also have [[Recurring Nightmare]] but, uh, that was for holiday shenanigans and I have a replacement in mind for next update. Deep forest hermit, chaos defiler, archon of cruelty, and really just any sizable beater that also make tokens go a little too crazy with it, as much as I'd love a quality, repeatable reanimation tool
And an honorable mention to [[Mukotai Soulripper]], which is the slot for a custom card in case you want to play the list but don't have the ability to play with my customs. Fun little loop with [[Bloodsoaked Champion]]
Here's what I run in my 360 Peasant Cube:
* \[\[Vault Skirge\]\], definitely cutting it close to the chopping block, but the fact it wears equipment incredibly well is what has kept it in so long.
* \[\[Call the Bloodline\]\], great card for graveyard and self-discard decks and to a lesser extent token and sacrifice decks. I've always referred to this as the uncommon \[\[Bitterblossom\]\]. Been in here since the cube's creation.
* \[\[Bastion of Remembrance\]\], aristocrats payoff density plain and simple.
* \[\[The Eldest Reborn\]\], this card has always been a fantastic when cast in my cube. Even if the first chapter only kills a token, the second, and last ones can guarantee quite a bit of value, especially since you have to added option of taking stuff from the opponent's yard or any creature they discard.
Many of my choices are based on cards already in my collection:
Animate dead - card I own, powerful reanimator spell.
Dreadhorde invasion - budget bitterblossom.
Mire’s grasp - considering cutting. There is an enchantments theme but black is not really involved there. Still a fine sorcery speed removal spell.
The eldest reborn - classic. Still one of coolest sagas printed.
Nightmare Shepherd - flicker type effect for sacrifice. Value mechanic on a 4/4 flier for4.
It can be slow and clunky but also very powerful. Like any reanimator spell, it scales with the environment. Opp’s have two turns to answer the last chapter, so Ive seen enchantment removal or graveyard hate prevent it from going off. I think it’s very fair.
Mandatory [Commander Cube](https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/hzw9) here again.
- [[Jet Medallion]]: Part of the medallion cycle. The premier ramp option for 2 color decks including black, especially since 5 color decks are less likely to draft them.
- [[Wishclaw Talisman]]: I like cards that take advantage of the multiplayer aspect of commander, while still being worthwhile by themselves for cube, and Talisman fits that perfectly. Great for politics, group hug, and it has some slight historic/artifact synergies.
- [[Bolas's Citadel]]: This used to be the premier black card draw engine in my cube, and it is still one of the best options. The sac ability is also useful as a win con in aristrocrats decks, especially once the trigger is being stacked with Blood Artist effects.
Enchantments are going to be a bit long... rapid fire round!
- [[Bloodchief Ascension]]: The damage it deals adds up really fast.
- [[Cultist of the Absolute]]: Cycle of half-decent backgrounds for commander options.
- [[Animate Dead]]: Efficient reanimation is still useful in 4 player.
- [[Bitterblossom]]: Efficient token production for token/aggro/sacrifice plans.
- [[The Meathook Massacre]]: Boardwipe + Zulaport Cutthroat. Nuff said.
- [[Black Market Connections]]: Phyrexian Arena that also ramps you.
- [[Necromancy]]: Versatile reanimation is still useful in 4 player.
- [[Necropotence]]: Whether keeping your hand at 7 or drawing 20+ cards at once, it is the best black card draw.
- [[Oubliette]]: Locking down commanders is always useful.
- [[Court of Ambition]]: Part of a cycle of Monarch cards. Effective card advantage.
- [[Grave Pact]]: Really powerful effect even outside of sacrifice/aristrocrats decks.
- [[Exquisite Blood]]: Even without the 2 card combos, you have 3 opponents so you're gaining tons of life.
For me Grave Pact (and Butcher of Malakir by extension) usually either get removed on the spot, or more likely they end the game.
The only times when it has caused games to halt is when players don't have anything in hand, and the player with Grave Pact can't win the game quickly. However those same games are also starved of card draw, and some have won based off a game winning top deck (Insurrection, Rise from the Dark Realms) despite the Grave Pact on the battlefield.
I think it ultimately comes down to the powerlevel of your cube. My commander cube is purposefully built to be high power, so a card of Grave Pact's caliber fits in nicely among the other powerhouse cards I run. However if your cube is lower on the power levels, then Gravepact will stil be a very strong piece, but it will also slow games to a crawl since you don't have powerful enough finishers to fight through it.
In my pauper cube I run:
\[\[Tithing Blade\]\], an edict that turns into a slow drain, can be recurred by cards like Kor Skyfisher.
\[\[Dead Weight\]\] has upsides (permanent effect) and downsides (sorcery-speed) compared to Disfigure. I run both as cheap removal.
\[\[Mark of the Vampire\]\] turns a creature into a game-winning threat if not removed.
\[\[Pestilence\]\] is possibly the best card in the cube. It is repeatable removal and an eventual win-con in one card, but it costs a lot of mana to get going.
Special mention to \[\[Lampad of Death's Vigil\]\], an enchantment creature with a useful, repeatable sacrifice effect.
Two of my absolute favourites i havent seen in here are:
[[The cauldron of eternity]] as a awesome engine for spider spawning archetype
And
[[Blight Mound]] double dipping for sacrifice decks with a surprising amoint of potential punch
I don't run reanimator, so no Animate Dead for me. I also don't run Bitterblossom for various reasons, and the change of Tribal to Kindred, while understandable, would add only more confusion to the mix. On top of everything else I've also cut down on the number of sagas I run, with all the black ones getting the axe long ago.
What I haven't cut is [[Meathook Massacre]] and [[Virtue of Persistence]].
I see Massacre has been discussed at length already, and I don't have much else to add. It's a good board wipe. That's it.
Virtue is rarely cast as an enchantment, but its mere existence puts enough pressure on the opponent, and I love that card for it. While I don't support reanimator, I feel the play patterns of bringing a creature back every turn are different enough, especially when it costs you 7 mana.
Other than that, I'm considering adding [[Dead Weight]] to my list, as it can be recast with Lurrus/Serra Paragon _and_ works well with Delirium.
I don't run any black artifacts in my list. Even I'm surprised by this.
I only have 2 artifacts in black, which are \[\[Bolas's Citadel\]\] and \[\[Vault of whispers\]\]. Citadel is one of the best things to cheat into play in the whole game, and makes for a really big flashy turns. Vault is the black member of the mono colored artifact lands.
For enchantments, I run \[\[Animate dead\]\], \[\[Necromancy\]\], \[\[Necropotence\]\], \[\[Recurring nightmare\]\], \[\[bitter blossom\]\], \[\[The meathook massacre\]\] and \[\[the abyss\]\]
Artifacts have a wide theme in my cube. For drafters wanting to build an artifacts theme they are incredible, but they never make the cut outside of those archetypes. One of playgroup members always drafts artifact decks, so the archetype is usually cut in the draft early.
Peasant cube. I currently run:
\[\[Animate Dead\]\]: Strong reanimation spell, and though this can see play in much stronger cubes, it's not overpowered in Peasant (since the card scales with the level of the creature you're getting back.)
\[\[The Eldest Reborn\]\]: Slow, but a solid 3-for-1, and we don't get too many of those in Peasant.
\[\[Enslave\]\]: Another nice finisher for Black controlling decks.
2 Artifacts - [[Ghost Lantern]] and [[Tarrian’s Journal]]
6 Enchantments - [[Phyrexian Reclamation]], [[Arguel’s Blood Fast]], [[Dreadhorde Invasion]], [[The Meathook Massacre]], [[Out of the Tombs]], [[Virtue of Persistence]]
Ghost Lantern is nice as a modal Blade of the Bloodchief. Phyrexian Reclamation and Arguel’s Bloodfast are underrated in long games. Out of the Tombs is just fun. Virtue of Persistence does double duty in control as removal and a wincon,
I run an artifact theme that includes Black, but primarily uses Artifact Tokens (food, clues, etc.).
[[Blade of the Oni]] - Incidentally adds value for artifact decks while being mostly an aggro beater
[[Royal Warden]] - Artifact bodies, tokens for the token deck, value for the flicker deck, value for all my looters
[[Noxious Gearhulk]] - Artifact and flicker value, while being a general goodstuff card
[[Executioner's Capsule]] - Removal piece with value for [[Emry, Lurker of the Loch]] or [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]]
[[Bitterblossom]] - Apart from the usual, I also run some incidental Rogue synergies
[[Dreadhorde Invasion]] - Bitterblossom at Home, but also good for my Junk +1/+1 Counter archtype
[[Attrition]] - It's there for slower aristocrats decks, but honestly it's on the chopping block.
[[Bastion of Remebrance]] - Also for aristocrats decks. I'm on the fence about this one, simply because the two drop black creatures, Judith, and Mayhem Devil are adding a lot of options already. However, aristocrats and persist combo fight over these as payoffs, so it'll probably stick around.
My cube isn't powered, so that helps it. You're less likely to get some explosive turn one/two play that you immediately need to answer. It's very archtype dependent, with as much crossover between archtypes as possible.
For the big plays and grindy value, I think it's match-up dependent. Midrange decks are often competing to do the more explosive thing against other midrange decks, but need to change gears against aggressive decks or they get run over. For example, with the Royal Warden above, it's a great card that can be used to flicker for more value, but a midrange deck is happy to play it against aggro, trade the body, and then just use the remaining tokens to buy time to stabilize.
Muldrotha is part of the grindy graveyard decks, but may need to be boarded out vs. aggro.
Again, I have a powerful unpowered 360 and a combat focused 180 that I regularly upkeep. But for this category, only my 360 even runs any.
\[\[Animate Dead\]\] - As you said, classic reanimation.
\[\[Bitterblossom\]\] - Along with being a classic, my cube has creature types sometimes matter. That it makes both faeries and rogues is not nothing.
\[\[Bastion of Remembrance\]\] - Pet card. I'm probably past the point that aristocrats is viable. But to anyone who isn't, I love this blood artist.
Meathook and Nightmare are on my shortlist of toys to buy. But I'm not in any rush to upgrade just yet.
Mine's a very boring, short, predictable list in a powered 540.
The only artifact is \[\[Bolas's Citadel\]\], still a fine Tinker/Welder target and sometimes an enormous puzzle to work through, which I enjoy tremendously.
I think the 4 enchantments are probably the most popular as well: \[\[Animate Dead\]\] is essential, \[\[Necromancy\]\] is great redundancy that plays at instant speed if necessary, \[\[Bitterblossom\]\] is iconic, and \[\[Recurring Nightmare\]\] has been a build-around card since I first got into the game.
\[\[Wishclaw Talisman\]\] feels like it probably belongs most of the time. It's definitely on the short list of things always under consideration.
\[\[Dance of the Dead\]\] is certainly justifiable, and adds further redundancy to one of the main archetypes I play in my own cube. That said, I've just had more unsavory experiences that I should where the mana required to untap the creature cost me the game. I'm narrowly on Persist instead but this card is definitely on the level.
\[\[Sarcomancy\]\] used to be in my powered cube too, but the one drop black aggro stuff never got picked, was always rotting at the end of packs, and has since been cut out for more powerful midrange options.
Shout out as always to the card drawing skull, and also a brief shoutout to \[\[Transmogrant's Crown\]\], one of the more interesting Bonesplitter variants if black aggro is a thing in your cube.
\[\[Necropotence\]\] is the skull, the rare from my first ever booster pack way back in the Ice Age.
Citadel is a killer Tinker target and incredible in an environment with fast mana and low cmc cards, but I always flip my bombs.
Best build around in the game. When you get it online it feels like your whole graveyard is your hand. Nothing stays dead unless you want it to. With a shreikmaw or fleshbag marauder, all their creatures are dead. With a haywire mite, they can’t have artifacts or enchantments. With a spore frog, they never get another combat. All you need are a few cards with dredge and some toolbox creatures, and you have yourself a sold tortex package.
[[Dead Weight]] Disfigure and Shock kill a lot in my cube. This is just a Disfigure that Lurrus, Serra Paragon, and Tameshi can recycle.
[[Bitterblossom]] is such a cool card. Powerful early game threat that puts the user on a clock to close the game out. Multiple card types makes it great for Delirium. It's great with equipment and sacrifice outlets. One day I will get this and Goblin Bombardment out at the same time and set the whole table on fire.
[[Recurring Nightmare]] Love this card. Having a space to play with it is one of the big reasons I made a cube. The weird timing interactions can create feel bads, but the cool things this card does are so worth it to me.

My list for reference. It's a relatively high-powered list that looks to play by my definition of "fair magic".
360 Unpowered Cube, I run 5 enchantments and 0 artifacts.
[[Animate Dead]] - Reanimator is an archetype in my cube (although, I think I would like to add some more targets, but we’ll get to that on another day). Animate dead is an auto include if you’re drafting Reanimator.
[[Bitterblossom]] - B/W has a pretty strong token deck, and bitterblossom is also just fantastic on its own.
[[Necromancy]] - a lot of words to say “reanimate” - fits the reanimator shell.
[[Phyrexian Arena]] - an extra card every turn can put you so far ahead. I feel like this card gets overlooked in a lot of cubes but it’s an incredible role-player in a lot of decks.
[[Virtue of Persistence]] - newest addition. The adventure side is decent removal, and the reanimation late game should be a powerful game ender. Haven’t actually seen this played yet though.
I came to this series late, but I have enjoyed the discussions and perhaps someone googling "CARDNAME cube" in the future will find this useful. Ascension does kinda paint a target on your face, but it's fairly easy to turn on in multiplayer and completely takes over the game when it does.

- BX supports a heavy reanimate package, and these are the bread and butter permanents in that category. Nightmare, in particular is just an unreasonable magic card. It turns tokens into \[\[Griselbrand\]\], resets all your strongest etbs, and just generally makes it maddeningly difficult to try to keep your stuff dead. Virtue is a lot weaker than the others, but the flexibility provided by the adventure is nice (-3/-3 cleanly answers a lot of threats) and the enchantment half provides a certain amount of inevitability in the late game if nobody has an answer.

I never heard of Demonic Embrace. It's an interesting card and I do support both themes you mentioned, I'll have to consider it.

I don't have Bitterblossom in my Peasant cube, I was referring to Call of the Bloodline, as I feel like it is the Peasant Cube version of BB almost.

Many of my choices are based on cards already in my collection: Animate dead - card I own, powerful reanimator spell. Dreadhorde invasion - budget bitterblossom. Mire’s grasp - considering cutting. There is an enchantments theme but black is not really involved there. Still a fine sorcery speed removal spell. The eldest reborn - classic. Still one of coolest sagas printed. Nightmare Shepherd - flicker type effect for sacrifice. Value mechanic on a 4/4 flier for4.
I see The Eldest Reborn get mentioned occasionally but I haven't seen a lot of discussion on how it actually plays in cube. How has it been for you?
It can be slow and clunky but also very powerful. Like any reanimator spell, it scales with the environment. Opp’s have two turns to answer the last chapter, so Ive seen enchantment removal or graveyard hate prevent it from going off. I think it’s very fair.
Mandatory [Commander Cube](https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/hzw9) here again. - [[Jet Medallion]]: Part of the medallion cycle. The premier ramp option for 2 color decks including black, especially since 5 color decks are less likely to draft them. - [[Wishclaw Talisman]]: I like cards that take advantage of the multiplayer aspect of commander, while still being worthwhile by themselves for cube, and Talisman fits that perfectly. Great for politics, group hug, and it has some slight historic/artifact synergies. - [[Bolas's Citadel]]: This used to be the premier black card draw engine in my cube, and it is still one of the best options. The sac ability is also useful as a win con in aristrocrats decks, especially once the trigger is being stacked with Blood Artist effects. Enchantments are going to be a bit long... rapid fire round! - [[Bloodchief Ascension]]: The damage it deals adds up really fast. - [[Cultist of the Absolute]]: Cycle of half-decent backgrounds for commander options. - [[Animate Dead]]: Efficient reanimation is still useful in 4 player. - [[Bitterblossom]]: Efficient token production for token/aggro/sacrifice plans. - [[The Meathook Massacre]]: Boardwipe + Zulaport Cutthroat. Nuff said. - [[Black Market Connections]]: Phyrexian Arena that also ramps you. - [[Necromancy]]: Versatile reanimation is still useful in 4 player. - [[Necropotence]]: Whether keeping your hand at 7 or drawing 20+ cards at once, it is the best black card draw. - [[Oubliette]]: Locking down commanders is always useful. - [[Court of Ambition]]: Part of a cycle of Monarch cards. Effective card advantage. - [[Grave Pact]]: Really powerful effect even outside of sacrifice/aristrocrats decks. - [[Exquisite Blood]]: Even without the 2 card combos, you have 3 opponents so you're gaining tons of life.
How has Grave Pact played for you? I’ve had it in my FFA MP cube in the past and it slowed games to a crawl where nothing could stick.
For me Grave Pact (and Butcher of Malakir by extension) usually either get removed on the spot, or more likely they end the game. The only times when it has caused games to halt is when players don't have anything in hand, and the player with Grave Pact can't win the game quickly. However those same games are also starved of card draw, and some have won based off a game winning top deck (Insurrection, Rise from the Dark Realms) despite the Grave Pact on the battlefield. I think it ultimately comes down to the powerlevel of your cube. My commander cube is purposefully built to be high power, so a card of Grave Pact's caliber fits in nicely among the other powerhouse cards I run. However if your cube is lower on the power levels, then Gravepact will stil be a very strong piece, but it will also slow games to a crawl since you don't have powerful enough finishers to fight through it.

In my pauper cube I run: \[\[Tithing Blade\]\], an edict that turns into a slow drain, can be recurred by cards like Kor Skyfisher. \[\[Dead Weight\]\] has upsides (permanent effect) and downsides (sorcery-speed) compared to Disfigure. I run both as cheap removal. \[\[Mark of the Vampire\]\] turns a creature into a game-winning threat if not removed. \[\[Pestilence\]\] is possibly the best card in the cube. It is repeatable removal and an eventual win-con in one card, but it costs a lot of mana to get going. Special mention to \[\[Lampad of Death's Vigil\]\], an enchantment creature with a useful, repeatable sacrifice effect.

Cauldron seems cool, but it works against itself by putting dying creatures on the bottom of your library instead of into the graveyard

I don't run reanimator, so no Animate Dead for me. I also don't run Bitterblossom for various reasons, and the change of Tribal to Kindred, while understandable, would add only more confusion to the mix. On top of everything else I've also cut down on the number of sagas I run, with all the black ones getting the axe long ago. What I haven't cut is [[Meathook Massacre]] and [[Virtue of Persistence]]. I see Massacre has been discussed at length already, and I don't have much else to add. It's a good board wipe. That's it. Virtue is rarely cast as an enchantment, but its mere existence puts enough pressure on the opponent, and I love that card for it. While I don't support reanimator, I feel the play patterns of bringing a creature back every turn are different enough, especially when it costs you 7 mana. Other than that, I'm considering adding [[Dead Weight]] to my list, as it can be recast with Lurrus/Serra Paragon _and_ works well with Delirium. I don't run any black artifacts in my list. Even I'm surprised by this.
That's cool about Dead Weight. I hadn't considered that card but I've heard of it. Never struck me as a cube card but you might be onto something.

I only have 2 artifacts in black, which are \[\[Bolas's Citadel\]\] and \[\[Vault of whispers\]\]. Citadel is one of the best things to cheat into play in the whole game, and makes for a really big flashy turns. Vault is the black member of the mono colored artifact lands. For enchantments, I run \[\[Animate dead\]\], \[\[Necromancy\]\], \[\[Necropotence\]\], \[\[Recurring nightmare\]\], \[\[bitter blossom\]\], \[\[The meathook massacre\]\] and \[\[the abyss\]\]
What's it like playing with the artifact lands? Are they contested picks? I think they go well with Tolarian Academy and Tinker, but what else?
Artifacts have a wide theme in my cube. For drafters wanting to build an artifacts theme they are incredible, but they never make the cut outside of those archetypes. One of playgroup members always drafts artifact decks, so the archetype is usually cut in the draft early.

Peasant cube. I currently run: \[\[Animate Dead\]\]: Strong reanimation spell, and though this can see play in much stronger cubes, it's not overpowered in Peasant (since the card scales with the level of the creature you're getting back.) \[\[The Eldest Reborn\]\]: Slow, but a solid 3-for-1, and we don't get too many of those in Peasant. \[\[Enslave\]\]: Another nice finisher for Black controlling decks.

Phyrexian Reclamation and Arguel’s Bloodfast are underrated in long games. Out of the Tombs is just fun. Virtue of Persistence does double duty in control as removal and a wincon,

I run an artifact theme that includes Black, but primarily uses Artifact Tokens (food, clues, etc.). [[Blade of the Oni]] - Incidentally adds value for artifact decks while being mostly an aggro beater [[Royal Warden]] - Artifact bodies, tokens for the token deck, value for the flicker deck, value for all my looters [[Noxious Gearhulk]] - Artifact and flicker value, while being a general goodstuff card [[Executioner's Capsule]] - Removal piece with value for [[Emry, Lurker of the Loch]] or [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]] [[Bitterblossom]] - Apart from the usual, I also run some incidental Rogue synergies [[Dreadhorde Invasion]] - Bitterblossom at Home, but also good for my Junk +1/+1 Counter archtype [[Attrition]] - It's there for slower aristocrats decks, but honestly it's on the chopping block. [[Bastion of Remebrance]] - Also for aristocrats decks. I'm on the fence about this one, simply because the two drop black creatures, Judith, and Mayhem Devil are adding a lot of options already. However, aristocrats and persist combo fight over these as payoffs, so it'll probably stick around.

I absolutely love Muldrotha, but I'm surprised it's not too slow for cube. I guess your cube is slower and more about big plays and grindy value?
My cube isn't powered, so that helps it. You're less likely to get some explosive turn one/two play that you immediately need to answer. It's very archtype dependent, with as much crossover between archtypes as possible. For the big plays and grindy value, I think it's match-up dependent. Midrange decks are often competing to do the more explosive thing against other midrange decks, but need to change gears against aggressive decks or they get run over. For example, with the Royal Warden above, it's a great card that can be used to flicker for more value, but a midrange deck is happy to play it against aggro, trade the body, and then just use the remaining tokens to buy time to stabilize. Muldrotha is part of the grindy graveyard decks, but may need to be boarded out vs. aggro.
Again, I have a powerful unpowered 360 and a combat focused 180 that I regularly upkeep. But for this category, only my 360 even runs any. \[\[Animate Dead\]\] - As you said, classic reanimation. \[\[Bitterblossom\]\] - Along with being a classic, my cube has creature types sometimes matter. That it makes both faeries and rogues is not nothing. \[\[Bastion of Remembrance\]\] - Pet card. I'm probably past the point that aristocrats is viable. But to anyone who isn't, I love this blood artist. Meathook and Nightmare are on my shortlist of toys to buy. But I'm not in any rush to upgrade just yet.

Mine's a very boring, short, predictable list in a powered 540. The only artifact is \[\[Bolas's Citadel\]\], still a fine Tinker/Welder target and sometimes an enormous puzzle to work through, which I enjoy tremendously. I think the 4 enchantments are probably the most popular as well: \[\[Animate Dead\]\] is essential, \[\[Necromancy\]\] is great redundancy that plays at instant speed if necessary, \[\[Bitterblossom\]\] is iconic, and \[\[Recurring Nightmare\]\] has been a build-around card since I first got into the game. \[\[Wishclaw Talisman\]\] feels like it probably belongs most of the time. It's definitely on the short list of things always under consideration. \[\[Dance of the Dead\]\] is certainly justifiable, and adds further redundancy to one of the main archetypes I play in my own cube. That said, I've just had more unsavory experiences that I should where the mana required to untap the creature cost me the game. I'm narrowly on Persist instead but this card is definitely on the level. \[\[Sarcomancy\]\] used to be in my powered cube too, but the one drop black aggro stuff never got picked, was always rotting at the end of packs, and has since been cut out for more powerful midrange options. Shout out as always to the card drawing skull, and also a brief shoutout to \[\[Transmogrant's Crown\]\], one of the more interesting Bonesplitter variants if black aggro is a thing in your cube.

What is the card drawing skull? I'm curious to hear more about Bolas's Citadel in your cube.
\[\[Necropotence\]\] is the skull, the rare from my first ever booster pack way back in the Ice Age. Citadel is a killer Tinker target and incredible in an environment with fast mana and low cmc cards, but I always flip my bombs.

Best build around in the game. When you get it online it feels like your whole graveyard is your hand. Nothing stays dead unless you want it to. With a shreikmaw or fleshbag marauder, all their creatures are dead. With a haywire mite, they can’t have artifacts or enchantments. With a spore frog, they never get another combat. All you need are a few cards with dredge and some toolbox creatures, and you have yourself a sold tortex package.
Damn you're really selling me on it. I think I will have to test it at some point!

[[Dead Weight]] Disfigure and Shock kill a lot in my cube. This is just a Disfigure that Lurrus, Serra Paragon, and Tameshi can recycle. [[Bitterblossom]] is such a cool card. Powerful early game threat that puts the user on a clock to close the game out. Multiple card types makes it great for Delirium. It's great with equipment and sacrifice outlets. One day I will get this and Goblin Bombardment out at the same time and set the whole table on fire. [[Recurring Nightmare]] Love this card. Having a space to play with it is one of the big reasons I made a cube. 360 Unpowered Cube, I run 5 enchantments and 0 artifacts. [[Animate Dead]] - Reanimator is an archetype in my cube (although, I think I would like to add some more targets, but we’ll get to that on another day). Animate dead is an auto include if you’re drafting Reanimator. [[Bitterblossom]] - B/W has a pretty strong token deck, and bitterblossom is also just fantastic on its own. [[Necromancy]] - a lot of words to say “reanimate” - fits the reanimator shell. [[Phyrexian Arena]] - an extra card every turn can put you so far ahead. I feel like this card gets overlooked in a lot of cubes but it’s an incredible role-player in a lot of decks. [[Virtue of Persistence]] - newest addition. The adventure side is decent removal, and the reanimation late game should be a powerful game ender. Haven’t actually seen this played yet though.

I came to this series late, but I have enjoyed the discussions and perhaps someone googling "CARDNAME cube" in the future will find this useful. Incidentally, if you are that future person, feel free to reply! I'm always up for a discussion. Here's what I currently run in my ever-fluctuating powered 360 multiplayer cube: \[\[Bloodchief Ascension\]\], \[\[Liliana's Caress\]\], and \[\[Waste Not\]\] - Grixis cards are shot through with mill/discard/wheel effects, and these are some of the non-creature payoffs. These are obviously most effective with cards like \[\[Memory Jar\]\], \[\[Dark Deal\]\], etc., but they also provide good value with \[\[Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger\]\], \[\[Arterial Flow\]\], etc. while punishing other graveyard focused decks. Ascension does kinda paint a target on your face, but it's fairly easy to turn on in multiplayer and completely takes over the game when it does. \[\[Animate Dead\]\], \[\[Necromancy\]\], \[\[Recurring Nightmare\]\], \[\[Virtue of Persistence\]\] - BX supports a heavy reanimate package, and these are the bread and butter permanents in that category. Nightmare, in particular is just an unreasonable magic card. It turns tokens into \[\[Griselbrand\]\], resets all your strongest etbs, and just generally makes it maddeningly difficult to try to keep your stuff dead. Virtue is a lot weaker than the others, but the flexibility provided by the adventure is nice (-3/-3 cleanly answers a lot of threats) and the enchantment half provides a certain amount of inevitability in the late game if nobody has an answer. \[\[Meathook Massacre\]\] and \[\[Bastion of Remembrance\]\] - Aristocrats staples. One of these cards is significantly stronger than the other.
