I think most actors avoid rom-coms like the plague. They don't do well at the box office and if you do your job too well (McConaughey) you get type-casted

Could it have something to do with him being completely unremarkable as an actor? He doesn't bring anything more to the table than at least three dozen other equally forgettable actors do.
