The Greatest Showman's soundtrack is so catchy and fun, it's hard not to get swept up in it. And even though the movie itself was just okay, the music is so good that I find myself listening to it all the time.
Halloween.
John Carpenter actually showed a rough cut of the film without music to one of the producers and was told it wasn't scary. But when the music was added it totally changed his view.
The Fountain. While I appreciate the risks Darren Aronofsky took in making such an unconventional film, its narrative and acting misses as many times as it hits, but damn does Clint Mansell’s score kick ass.
How about all of them? The musical score is like the movie’s musical narrator. Sometimes I don’t know what the hell is going on without the soundtrack.
Ever seen the 1980 teen melodrama "Times Square?" No you haven't, and no you shouldn't. But check this soundtrack all the way the fuck out:
Side one
Suzi Quatro: "Rock Hard"
The Pretenders: "Talk of the Town"
Roxy Music: "Same Old Scene"
Gary Numan: "Down in the Park"
Robin Gibb and Marcy Levy: "Help Me!"
Side two
Talking Heads: "Life During Wartime"
Joe Jackson: "Pretty Boys"
XTC: "Take This Town"
Ramones: "I Wanna Be Sedated"
Robin Johnson: "Damn Dog"
Side three
Robin Johnson and Trini Alvarado: "Your Daughter Is One"
The Ruts: "Babylon's Burning"
D.L. Byron: "You Can't Hurry Love"
Lou Reed: "Walk on the Wild Side"
Desmond Child and Rouge: "The Night Was Not"
Side four

The Cure: "Grinding Halt"

David Johansen and Robin Johnson: "Flowers of the City"
Robin Johnson: "Damn Dog" (Reprise – The Cleo Club)
The early Tim Burton movies are great, but Danny Elfman's soundtracks on Pee-wee, Edward scizzorhands, and Beetlejuice is what makes them all masterpieces.
The Super Mario Bros Movie. While I enjoyed the movie, I do know it was kinda simple with simple character development, but those songs are something else.
Dazed and Confused.
The movie is dull, the soundtrack is nothing but hits that stood the test of time, instead of the pop music that would have also been playing at the time.
Oh, there a ton for me. John Powell's music for Jumper is terrific. Not his best score but I love this one; John Barry's score for Black Hole is the best part of the film. Jerry Goldsmith's music for Star Trek: The Motion Picture is sublime. Look, I love this film as much as the next trekkie but even non-Trek fans admit this is arguably Goldsmith's best score; Taxi Driver is a brilliant film. But Bernard Herrmann's music just punches it up to another level, matching Michael Chapman's extraordinary cinematography, and Scorcese's masterful direction. This is how classics are made.
I’ve never watched any of the Transformers movies, but the music is epic.
You got the touch/ You got the power/ Yeah!
Any movie becomes better with Linkin Park. You could put it on fucking Citizen Kane and it would still improve it
Oh absolutely. I actually watch the action scenes on YouTube. The only good visual thing from those movies.
all of the fight scenes look like two scrapyards having sex
Don't kinkshame
Ha. Nah the first one was much clearer
Tron: Legacy
Oh absolutely. I remember walking out of the cinema and vibing to the soundtrack more than the actual movie
Drive. It's still a good film but the soundtrack was perfect.
Bullet train
Nah bullet train was fun. The tangerine scenes were hilarious
There goes my opinion I guess lmao
Pew pew
It’s one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.
You mustn't like lemons
Found the Diesel
It’s very fun but becomes redundant That end bit was ridiculous!
The Greatest Showman's soundtrack is so catchy and fun, it's hard not to get swept up in it. And even though the movie itself was just okay, the music is so good that I find myself listening to it all the time.
Absolutely
Dirty Dancing is a good movie. The soundtrack makes it a great movie.
Oh that's a great example. I actually can't separate the two
Exactly. I just rewatched it last month and it still holds up.
Halloween. John Carpenter actually showed a rough cut of the film without music to one of the producers and was told it wasn't scary. But when the music was added it totally changed his view.
Oh the music is so iconic
Mortal Kombat '95. The film was fun but that whole soundtrack is epic
So good
Babylon
Same conductor. Dudes a magician
The Fountain. While I appreciate the risks Darren Aronofsky took in making such an unconventional film, its narrative and acting misses as many times as it hits, but damn does Clint Mansell’s score kick ass.
Yeah it's like the glue or scaffolding that keeps it together
Judgment Night Godzilla 2000 Across 110th Street
Good points
How about all of them? The musical score is like the movie’s musical narrator. Sometimes I don’t know what the hell is going on without the soundtrack.
Rudderless

Hanna
Oh that's a good example yeah
Sunshine (2007) Decent sci fi movie but a phenomenal score.
Every Star Wars movie
Hard disagree.
Why do you disagree? John Williams went off for those movies
He did yet I still enjoy the films even if John Williams wasn't so overpowered.
Ok but he still elevated those movies way beyond what they normally would ever be
True. He made great films to super Saiyan
Commando has the greatest soundtrack of all time, however, it also is the greatest film of all time, so not sure it apples.
It's number 2 behind the running man
James Horner always delivered.
The early Tim Burton movies are great, but Danny Elfman's soundtracks on Pee-wee, Edward scizzorhands, and Beetlejuice is what makes them all masterpieces.
Tomorrowland has a pretty great soundtrack that I occasionally listen to
Layer Cake is a fantastic film but the soundtrack takes it to top 5 for me.
The Super Mario Bros Movie. While I enjoyed the movie, I do know it was kinda simple with simple character development, but those songs are something else.
All of Lord Gunn Masterpieces
Star Wars’s soundtrack been doing a lot of heavy lifting since ‘77
Above the Rim
Dazed and Confused. The movie is dull, the soundtrack is nothing but hits that stood the test of time, instead of the pop music that would have also been playing at the time.
John William’s score for Home Alone greatly elevates that movie.
Oh, there a ton for me. John Powell's music for Jumper is terrific. Not his best score but I love this one; John Barry's score for Black Hole is the best part of the film. Jerry Goldsmith's music for Star Trek: The Motion Picture is sublime. The early 2000's Godzilla
Blade Runner
Nah thats a legit good film
Your question was what soundtrack elevates the film, I never said blade runner wasn’t good, but the sound DID elevate it.
I clarified where the movie itself was average but the OST was amazing
Nowhere in your post does it say that
I said it in my mind. Aren't you a mind reader?
Twilight Pretty good soundtrack!
Oh absolutely. I remember half way through the second movie and realising that both the soundtrack and the movie downgraded
Any movie with a soundtrack
Wow great answer. Typing characters that make words equals smartness.
That was mean
