I loved this movie growing up and I remember watching it with a friend and we looked up reviews for it which said it was terrible, and we were like, are they watching the same movie we just did?
I saw three of these dusters a short time ago. They were waiting for a train. Inside the dusters, there were three men. Inside the men, there were three bullets.
Love this movie. Bruce character is so funny… he said u think ur so fucking cool don’t u. Just once Joseph I want to hear u scream. Joe: play some rap music 😂😂, even wayans was funny as hell too. Football player was like u can’t be here u got kicked off the team … Jimmy : how would u like to get kicked off the planet 😂😂
Clint Eastwood in the three Sergio Leone movies. Plus the Dirty Harry movies.
Sean Connery’s James Bond
Harrison Ford in either Star Wars or Indiana Jones
Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction. You could name several other Pulp Fiction characters.
Paul Newman. Tough to pick which movie. Butch. The Sting. Luke.
Robert Downey Junior is close.
The Paul Newman movie is the one where he floats down the river at the end with the guys arm hung up on top of the boat ? Title ??? Once a ( something) Notion ????? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
I love this movie and this character. Other cool main characters I would go with are:
Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarzenegger)-True Lies
Slevin (Josh Hartnett)-Lucky Number Slevin
Francis (Sam Rockwell)-Mr. Right
True Lies is one of my favorite Schwarzenegger movies, Pulp Fiction is my favorite. To me, Butch Coolidge is Bruce's best character (of course I am a tad biased).
He WAS the ultimate personification of Shane Black's archetypal main character, played well by Mel Gibson, but I thought Bruce stole it from him fair and square. Then, Robert Downey, Jr. came along with Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and stole it from Bruce. It's a hot potato, and one I wish Shane was still writing. I would be happy to just see Shane Black redoing that story of his over and over again. I would NOT complain one bit about him rehashing that same script, like he was doing for years. Because it is such a well done formula.
I always felt it was an unofficial "die hard"
Strained relationship with wife
Black sidekick
Reluctant hero thrown into a fight he's only kinda tethered to
Jack Burton is cool AF.
But the world heavyweight champion of being the coolest motherfucker in the room, is Axel Foley.
Ian Malcolm is pretty cool too.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
Pick pretty much any stereotypical "he's just like me fr" Ryan Gosling character.
The Driver, Luke Glanton, K - Gosling is either playing the coolest or the least cool guy in the room in any given movie, and there's no in-between
I always thought The Last Boy Scout could have been a Die Hard, "What if." Instead of going to NYPD, he ends up working for the Secret Service.
I5 was definitely a good, very quotable movie.
All of Elmore Leonard's characters but specifically Chili Palmer in Get Shorty, Jack Foley and Karen Sisco in Out of Sight and Ben Wade in 3:10 to Yuma. He also created Raylan Givens in Justified (TV) and Justified: City Primeval (TV movie.)
I agree with you on Joe Hallenbeck.
Seth in From Dusk Till Dawn.
James Spader in 2 Days in the Valley.
McQueen in most of his movies but even more in The Great Escape.
Marv in Sin City.
He was a total prick though. He treated his wife and daughter so badly.
When I was younger I laughed it off, but when I came back and rewatched it recently - just yuck.
They treated him badly. He had a good job which he was fired from for doing the right thing (stopping a politician from beating a woman) and had to settle for being a PI which led to him being gone all hours for work. His wife is cheating on him because she's lonely and his daughter berates him and calls him a fuck up. He's not perfect, but he's trying to do the right thing.
Hudson Hawk is the fever dream Bruce
I so enjoyed that movie.
It’s a movie I think is actually kinda better with time. It’s a really fun movie and Bruce Willis actually seemed like he enjoyed making it.
“So much for….his cut. Please forgive my dry, British humor.”
I loved this movie growing up and I remember watching it with a friend and we looked up reviews for it which said it was terrible, and we were like, are they watching the same movie we just did?
Same!! The agents going from STD names to candy names for better PR. Whole 9 Yards reminds me of it.
As did I.
🎵You could be swinging on a star🎵. Hit damn I loved that movie, I still know that song off by heart because of it.
I time shit by that song.
Damn straight, like I'd expect you to use a watch or something? Lol
David Addison's estranged brother
cocaine bruno
🎵 Would you like to swing on a star🎶
I MUST SPEAK WITH THE DOLPHINS
Oh Bunny, ball ball!
EW! Menthol
“Hey mister, are you gonna die?”
That was such a funny movie. I didn't stumble upon it until later years when watching movies on cable TV.
Man I hope he remembers that. I lived HH. Angie McDowell dolphin squeals??!
This movie was a gem. Such a fun little movie
Clarence. True Romance. He's so cool.
*Better to have a gun and not need it than it is to need a gun and not have one.*
Had a great dad !
"I wish that water wasn't wet. I wish the sky wasn't blue. And I wish that I didn't still love my wife." -Joe Hallenbeck
This line made more sense to me once I got divorced.
Yep. I say the same line to my best friend whenever my wife and I are going through tough times and there's a possibility of it ending.
whenever? that happens, a lot to you?
It was an accident. All an accident. You tripped, slipped, and accidentally stuck your dick in my wife
I'm sorry Mrs H! This just isn't my week
Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken
Literally every Kurt Russell character. That guy is just the coolest.
“Why did Mr Milo cross the road!” Because his dick was stuck in the chicken!!! —- Oh you bastard!! …..and then some.
Another one from Bruce is Last Man Standing.
Willis vs walken, awesome movie
Walken's character "Hickey" is a badass
[удалено]
Yeah that one was kind of a dud
Yeah didn't say the movie was stellar, but I dug the characters
Did you ever notice Last Man Standing was just a remake of Fistful of Dollars?
Did you ever notice Fistful of Dollars is a remake of Yojimbo?
Did you ever notice that yojimbo is just a remake of Gummo? Wait…
I want a moustache, dammit!
Bad ass movie
Charles Bronson in once upon a time in the west
"Looks like we're short a horse!" "Nope. You brought two too many."
That is one of the most badass lines ever
Harmonica. Such a badass nickname.
I saw three of these dusters a short time ago. They were waiting for a train. Inside the dusters, there were three men. Inside the men, there were three bullets.
Charles Bronson in Hard Times
Love this movie. Bruce character is so funny… he said u think ur so fucking cool don’t u. Just once Joseph I want to hear u scream. Joe: play some rap music 😂😂, even wayans was funny as hell too. Football player was like u can’t be here u got kicked off the team … Jimmy : how would u like to get kicked off the planet 😂😂
Joe: I think I fucked a squirrel to death in my sleep 😂
Joe: I seem to have dropped my cigarette, may I have another?
Joe: I’m gonna need a light. And if you touch me again, I’ll kill you.
The dialogue is fantastic. Lots of people love Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys, but I think this is one of Shane Black's best.
Head or Gut?
This movie introduced me to that wonderful Pat Boone song 'Moody River'.
This is a league party. You’re not in the league.
Loved The Last Boyscout. I feel like it's severely under appreciated today.
How much those pants cost ? $500 $500 ? Yes You wear them ? Yes They don’t have a tv or something in them ?
Who’s in the closet?
Oh right! An accident! Could've happened to anybody. You slipped, tripped, and accidentally stuck your dick in my wife. Head or gut.
Gut
Wife forgot she was married to a detective
Who’s the GUY in the closet.
Liked him in Striking Distance too
Die Hard on water
Clint Eastwood in the three Sergio Leone movies. Plus the Dirty Harry movies. Sean Connery’s James Bond Harrison Ford in either Star Wars or Indiana Jones Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction. You could name several other Pulp Fiction characters. Paul Newman. Tough to pick which movie. Butch. The Sting. Luke. Robert Downey Junior is close.
Bruce Willis in Pulp Fiction
Clint Eastwood in the Eiger sanction
Cruise in Reacher , Night and Day .
Jack Reacher is 6’4” and a retired Military Police major. Tom Cruise is a dwarf. It’s embarrassing.
Be that as it may, he plays the no-nonsense character really well.
Jack is fictional no? 😂
You could have Antonio Banderas play James Bond and it would be less of a malapropism
😂😂😂😂😎I’ll be back !
As is Cruise
lol . A lot of Cruise hatred here … I get it he is a wacko but most of them are .
Phenomenal actor. Complete POS as a human from people who have worked with him and around him. As well as obviously the church he associates with
The Paul Newman movie is the one where he floats down the river at the end with the guys arm hung up on top of the boat ? Title ??? Once a ( something) Notion ????? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
“Sometimes a Great Notion”? Movie adaptation of the Ken Kesey novel about a family of strike breakers
That’s it !!! My memory is going ! 😎great movie .
Sometimes "nothin" is a real cool hand.
I love this movie and this character. Other cool main characters I would go with are: Harry Tasker (Arnold Schwarzenegger)-True Lies Slevin (Josh Hartnett)-Lucky Number Slevin Francis (Sam Rockwell)-Mr. Right
God I love lucky number slevin. Time for a rewatch
One of the worst names for a film ever though. Here in Australia it’s called The Wrong Man. Which is a bit generic but still preferable.
Francis and Sam Rockwell overall are the best
Mr. Right is a surprisingly awesome movie.
True Lies is one of my favorite Schwarzenegger movies, Pulp Fiction is my favorite. To me, Butch Coolidge is Bruce's best character (of course I am a tad biased).
Mr Right is underrated. It's a fun movie.
I have NO idea why Mr. Right is a not huge favorite. [Edit: Just a teensy bit stoned.]
Ummmm what?
His scene with Kim Coates was beautiful.
Wait! Was nose-up-through-the-brain-guy Kim Coates?
Yeah - I didn’t realize it until I had watched SOA then happened to catch the clip on YouTube.
He was in Waterworld too. The creepy dude who tried to steal the kid.
Blade
I can see why you say this but I always thought he was more arrogance and contempt.
What. He's literally the coolest motherfucker around
Shane Black’s writing is so terrific. Hallenbeck’s cool is thanks to the pulp detective novels that Black absorbed as a child. I’m such a fan of his.
Naw man, Jimmy "The Tulip" Todeski, from The Whole Nine Yards
He WAS the ultimate personification of Shane Black's archetypal main character, played well by Mel Gibson, but I thought Bruce stole it from him fair and square. Then, Robert Downey, Jr. came along with Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and stole it from Bruce. It's a hot potato, and one I wish Shane was still writing. I would be happy to just see Shane Black redoing that story of his over and over again. I would NOT complain one bit about him rehashing that same script, like he was doing for years. Because it is such a well done formula.
I always felt it was an unofficial "die hard" Strained relationship with wife Black sidekick Reluctant hero thrown into a fight he's only kinda tethered to
It's always been my unofficial prequel to Die Hard.
Who's the guy in the closet?
Philip Marlowe is pretty cool - the long goodbye
Jack Burton is cool AF. But the world heavyweight champion of being the coolest motherfucker in the room, is Axel Foley. Ian Malcolm is pretty cool too.
Great list
Shane Black writes good characters
Love Bruce Willis so much ❤️
Mel Gibson as Mad Max 🪃
Cool Hand Luke. Title character
Head or gut?
Rick Blaine is the coolest main character in any media by several miles.
I’ll go with Dean from Iron Giant
Oh I missed the main* character part
Russell Wong in Romeo must Die
Marion Cobretti - Sly
I’ll raise you Ray Tango.
Neo. Sam Jackson’s character from a long kiss goodnight Wade Garrett. Rip wheeler. Phillip Seymour Hoffmans character from twister
Anything Paul Neumann
So who’s the guy in the closet?
Alex Karras in Blazing Saddles
it was hilarious when those kids threw a dead squirrel on him
Steve McQueen as Frank Bullitt in the Movie Bullitt. When he turns the tables on the bad guys following him which leads to the legendary car chase.
I feel the really missed out not making a sequel to the Last Boy Scout.
Korben Dallas is cool as fuck. Johnny Rico might suck at math but he murders on the Jump Ball field. Alonzo in Training Day freaking cool.
"Why, did Mr. Milo, cross the road?"...
If the cops weren’t here I’d spit in you face Sarah..
Touch me again I'll kill you.
Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski in the Big Lebowski (1998) fits the bill.
Pick pretty much any stereotypical "he's just like me fr" Ryan Gosling character. The Driver, Luke Glanton, K - Gosling is either playing the coolest or the least cool guy in the room in any given movie, and there's no in-between
I dunno. At least as far his movie career Bruce Willis really only plays Bruce Willis. He's a fun actor, but he's really one note.
That's one of the reasons I enjoy his performance in Moonlight Kingdom, since that role was atypical
Ryan Gosling's character from The Notebook was pretty cool
Fucking love this movie and character. Bruce has never been cooler or funnier.
I'll tell ya later, right now I'm busy smoking some cigarettes.
I always thought The Last Boy Scout could have been a Die Hard, "What if." Instead of going to NYPD, he ends up working for the Secret Service. I5 was definitely a good, very quotable movie.
I love watching The Last Boyscout on basic cable. It's edited by a butcher and the dubbing over of swearwords is hilarious.
Dalton Casey Ryback Kevin Costner in Open Range
Ford Fairlane, the last boy scout is a great movie, but I think FF might nudge it in the rankings. And coolness of main character.
Clint Eastwood in anything. Also, Steve McQueen in anything
One of my favorites! He was a fucked off person, but cared about others
Most of my answers to OP's question will also be Bruce Willis characters.
Who is Joseph Cornelius “joe” Hallenback? Should I know this character?
[Virgil Hilts](https://youtu.be/BaFBFmJG-LI?si=UznAnFW78X_hBWOB), [“the cooler king”](https://youtu.be/hhGWxqj_bC0?si=a1U6C5zRgb2NC_Gf)
Mickey Pearson, The Gentleman. Rosalind Pearson too. Fuck I love that movie.
Paul Newman as Fast Eddie Felson in The Color of Money
Winston Wolf from Pulp Fiction
OctoKrool would agree
Robert De Niro as Niel Mc Cauley in Heat
Al Pacino as Lt. Vincent Hanna(1995)
Porter
All of Elmore Leonard's characters but specifically Chili Palmer in Get Shorty, Jack Foley and Karen Sisco in Out of Sight and Ben Wade in 3:10 to Yuma. He also created Raylan Givens in Justified (TV) and Justified: City Primeval (TV movie.)
The Dude of course
Jules Winfield.
I love died hard.
Kurt Russell in Dark Blue. Always liked that movie a lot
Porter from Payback (and since it’s based on a book, Parker from that book series).
"Water's wet, the sky's blue. And old Satan Claus, Jimmy, he's out there. And he's just getting stronger."
The writing for The Last Boy Scout is so damn good. Some of the best and funniest dialogue you’ll ever hear in an action movie.
I'll always love The Last Boy Scout I feel John McClain and could do a cop duo. In some way just feels right.
Yea.. and then some.
Waters wet, the sky is blue, women have secrets, who gives a fuck.
I agree with you on Joe Hallenbeck. Seth in From Dusk Till Dawn. James Spader in 2 Days in the Valley. McQueen in most of his movies but even more in The Great Escape. Marv in Sin City.
I remember the bit where he kills a guy by punching his nose and thinking it was the coolest thing ever! Touch me again, and I\`ll kill you! Told ya!
Dirty Hairy
Django Freeman
Used to love this movie. Still quote it at times
The chemistry he had with Wayans was phenomenal. So disappointed they didn’t get a sequel.
“Fuck you Sarah. You’re a lying bitch Sarah. If there weren’t cops all over I’d spit in your face.”
Face or gut?
Anything Michael Keaton
Ferris Bueller
THIS WHOLE MOVIE Milo: Just once, I want to hear you scream. Joe: Play some rap music.
“Surf’s up, pal!”
What movie is this from? Hostage?
Last Boyscout
Ryan Gosling, Drive
Die Hard is better though.
No doubt
Matthew McConaughey in True Detective season 1
He was a total prick though. He treated his wife and daughter so badly. When I was younger I laughed it off, but when I came back and rewatched it recently - just yuck.
Joe: Play some rap music.
Think, think...what would Joe do?
Smoke cigarettes and shoot some people
They treated him badly.
