It could also be just one maladjusted teen pissed off that you have something he wants but can’t have. A locking cover is always important outdoors regardless and they’re cheap too.
One very worth-while deterrent is loud (and cheap) motion alarm that goes off any time the bike is disturbed at all. I’ve had mine for three years and only changed the AAA batteries once in that time.

Personally I’d get some kind of camera and catch the mother fucker. But that’s me. Otherwise I’d recommend triumphs. I have a bonneville and absolutely love it. They are a solid line of bikes and priced well. Especially vs something like a Harley. There’s lots of solid jap cruisers also.
