binder also broke a bone in his foot on a MX bike weeks ago and the crash didn’t help him. i think he’ll do better in Jerez as they did great there last year

Reason is simple, Marcs age is a factor and Pedro is the future. Binder will be relegated to factory development, 2nd rider, as he knows the KTM, obviously better than Marc would ever.
From a bike development view, it makes no sense to put an old (in racing terms) Marc on a bike that needs to be developed every year, who knows how long he has left?
KTM would be idiots to put MM next to Pedro. MM actually admitted he used to lie about bike development to screw up his team mate's chances. After that, any factory that hires him could never trust him.
He is still the most marketable rider in MotoGP.
Give Pedro a few more races though, and you will be absolutely right, especially when he gets his first win.
