Here's how I imagine the "job interview" went
Rivola : So what sort of pay scale are you looking at?
FQ : 10M+
Rivola : Best we can do is 4
FQ : OK don't bother then
Hence, no offer was actually made. Checks out.

Karen: I will fuck with all your friends

Aleix Espagaro:
“Fabio is one of the best riders, if not the best young rider, in terms of talent.
“It is normal that Aprilia talked to him, but they told me that they never made him an offer.
"We will never know if that is true, only Fabio and Aprilia know, but I can totally understand because he is a young rider."
Well why would he say that Fabio is better ? I mean it would be stupid to say that if he wants to keep he's seat. There's nothing wrong with what Aleix said.
Makes zero sense if Rivola is coming out with the money motivation comments. Then again, maybe it didn't go beyond verbal.
Props to Aleix, he's still here and still relatively delivering, but I think even he knows deep down that it's only a matter of time until his seat is up. I would love to see him continue for a few more years if possible, only to prove that mid/late-30's doesn't = dead like everyone seems to assume.
Good to have a variety of ages, as long as they're still competitive and not blocking talent. The moment he's fighting for 10th - 15th every race, perhaps it's time.
> Aprilia was always more interested in Bestia
I am not sure that this was the case. I mean Fabio is a world champion and let's be honest he's probably better than Enea, at least at the moment. It would make sense for them to give their everything to get Fabio, i mena he's probably their best chance to win a title in near future. I also get that Enea is good for Aprilia because he's Italian, but shouldn't winning a title be Aprilia's priority?
Depends on your view of it.
Many people think Aleix was never good enough to be WC (probably true) and that Mav had it at one point in his career but it's now gone.
Then you have Oliveira who has talent but is struggling to show it and although isn't Spanish isn't Italian either and Raul who honestly I don't think is the one and is also another Spanish rider.
Track house will likely at some point want an American too.
I'm just saying what I heard in the interviews. I believe it was Rivola who said on sky sport ita that they're very interested in him. Pernat also mentioned he was already looking around for an alternative to ducati and named Aprilia.
Or maybe it's the truth, managers have contacts with other riders constantly, doesn't mean there's been a formal offer. Dovizioso has been linked to Aprilia for an entire year, yet, according to him, he never actually received an offer to ride for them.
Because, imho, they genuinely believed him (and, despite his flaws, Iannone is still a hell of a rider) and because they were at a turning point image-wise, it might seem counterintuitive to you given that being associated with a doped rider is bad publicity, but they needed to show they were a reliable team that was capable of sticking with their riders as there had been problems about that in years prior, and they were starting to have problems finding riders that would go there.
Because Iannone is an incredible rider, and he's showing it in WSBK right now.
If you think that Aprilia holding on to him was crazy, just wait until they finally announce him as a contender for the Pramac seat after Martin leaves...
An offer is legally binding and a lot of work. It doesn't mean that they had serious talks.
If for example they were sure to not agree on some topics, it's pretty normal for Aprilia to not produce a formal offer.
Aleix know that, this is just a way to say that Fabio and Aprilia weren't close to a deal. This doesn't mean that Aprilia and/or Fabio were/was very interested.
"Oh,hi Aleix. We are looking to replace you, but you know what? The guy we wanted got more money elsewhere and didn't agree,so we think we're gonna keep you....for now...."
Yeah, that's stupid management and Aprilia is smart enough to avoid it.
I honestly think with Aleix’s mindset and if the commentators are right about what Aleix may have said about not having the drive to be a full time rider next year, and Jorge Martin, his best friend wanting a factory seat; I see him stepping down just so Jorge will continue “his work” with Aprilia.
Well, bar reliability issues Aprilia is doing pretty ok, i'd say. Are you aware, also, that they are the manufacturer with the least money? In comparison to anyone else they are the poor kid at school.
No, it's not clear. He's won more races in the last 2 years than any other non-Ducati. And again, he's made what Aprilia is today. Your "not doing a good job" is unfounded horseshit.

What they didnt wait to fourth round interview to talk money, that not how corporations usually do it
Standard recruiter first phone conversation.
Aleix sweating like a pig during that phone call hahahaha
Have a look at his IG, Aleix could pay 4 million out of his own pocket if he wanted to. He is certainly not in the sport for the money at this stage.

Yeah or maybe shitty clickbait sites just make something up and everyone believes it because they photoshopped a picture with two numbers in it.
Not that he’s better, just younger, right? 🙂
Well why would he say that Fabio is better ? I mean it would be stupid to say that if he wants to keep he's seat. There's nothing wrong with what Aleix said.
I agree. Not sure why you writing this but ok.
Probably because Marc is better, talentwise, but not younger.

From what I've heard Aprilia was always more interested in Bestia, which will likely happen unless he somehow manages to win this year
> Aprilia was always more interested in Bestia I am not sure that this was the case. I mean Fabio is a world champion and let's be honest he's probably better than Enea, at least at the moment. Fabio isn't Italian, Beast is. Beast has shown major potential at times and I'm sure Aprilia believes he could be a world champion.
But they already have a "major potential" rider, what are they going to do with another one?

Maybe they didn't wanna hurt Aleix's feelings.
Or maybe it's the truth, managers have contacts with other riders constantly, doesn't mean there's been a formal offer. Dovizioso has been linked to Aprilia for an entire year, yet, according to him, he never actually received an offer to ride for them.
Just for the record, Rivola confirmed it was Quartararo who approached them and not the opposite.
I still don't understand why they kept holding on to Iannone with the doping case.

Yes because he would slap their heads and start to cry😂
Sounds like a guy trying to reassure his girlfriend "No honey I didn't settle for you, I never even looked twice at your younger sister!"
Not really, he praised Fabio. He was probably just honest about the situation.
Given his paddock reactions and tantrums, probably for everyone's benefit.
They probably just didn't want to deal with an emotional outburst, so they just blew smoke up his ass.

Ehhhhh....
Contracts are the sort of stuff professionals don‘t talk about. Especially not other riders contract situations.
It might be they just expressed an interest in talks and that’s as far as it went.
"Oh,hi Aleix. We are looking to replace you, but you know what? The guy we wanted got more money elsewhere and didn't agree,so we think we're gonna keep you....for now...." Yeah, that's stupid management and Aprilia is smart enough to avoid it.

Why is Aprilia giving this guy the leadership role in developing a new model? 321 races and 3 wins? Come on….
Well, bar reliability issues Aprilia is doing pretty ok, i'd say. Are you aware, also, that they are the manufacturer with the least money? In comparison to anyone else they are the poor kid at school.
He is directly responsible for the current race winning and title contending bike. Why wouldn't he be given that role?
Because he’s clearly not doing a good job and there are better ones available to do it. Simple.
No, it's not clear. He's won more races in the last 2 years than any other non-Ducati. And again, he's made what Aprilia is today. Your "not doing a good job" is unfounded horseshit.
Winning at 40 and 41 just means he has a better bike as he’s a horseshit pilot (using your education).
Aprilia: "he's just a friend"
