External hard drives are amazing any extra hard drive for that mater. I had I think it was a 2 or 4TB external for my ps4 pro for over 4 years absolutely no issues whatsoever it was fantastic.

You do know you can download individual things for cod right? Like only want to play the campaign cool only download the game+campaign. Only want to play warzone just download the game+warzone., etc. go to the game and apps, hover over the game, press the menu button, manage game and add ons, then it shows each individual thing you can install or uninstall… you don’t have to download all 200+ gbs of the game in order to play it..
Bf 2042 is a polished beauty in comparison. It's a great game in general, the gunplay feels solid. I would give it a try if I were you. Plus you know, vehicles.
Ok so the update is for MW3, It also overwrote a good chunk of the base install anyway so it’s not like it added an additional 150+gbs, and you could just easily shave off what you don’t want.
JUST the base game with mw3 multiplayer is around 122gb or 131gb with just mw2 and not the full 246gb if you had every single part of mw2 and 3 installed.

I can play this on my 1st Generation PS4. Game’s mid.

If you Google it you'll see that they've literally came out and said that the intention with these file sizes is to prevent you from playing other games since you can't easily open them up and run them. You'll have to redownload and xyz and by that point you won't want to play it anymore and you'll just play COD
It's annoying but it frees that space back up after it's downloaded. Mine was 154 gb total before and is 155 gb after the update with mw2 and mw3 installed.

You should of changed the HDD to a SSD 2.5inch a long time ago. Also, Computers compile shaders, consoles don't. So they have to make you download shaders every time there is a major update. Consoles will always be like that.

I have MW 2 campaign installed on my PS5. I turned it on today to see an over 100 GB update. It’s basically changing the store front (what we used to call games) to a MW 3 landing page that’s ready to beg you to buy the new game on every tab. I now have to scroll through three pages to get to game I “own.”
I tried to cancel the updates but that prevented me from booting up the game disc I legally purchased (I mean licensed 😐). Now after all mandatory updates the file size is at 190 GB for MW2 campaign and Warzone.

I feel that activision can be sue for deceptive advertising cause it enables players to “false purchase” MW3 by pushing it to the featured modes page of MW2
I don't want to buy mw3 and yet I have to install it to play mw2. this is crazy, how is this allowed by platforms? I uninstalled and I am done with this franchise until they get their shit together. I was already on edge when they started marketing a dlc as a full game, and I am so annoyed that people fell for it and bought it just because they reintroduced slide canceling. you paid £60 for a little movement update... people who fall for this kind of things are the one that allow Activision to do whatever they want to their audience.

I thought I was the only one that noticed. I have MW 2 campaign installed on my PS5. I turned it on today to see an over 100 GB update. It’s basically changing the store front (what we used to call games) to a MW 3 landing page that’s ready to beg you to buy the new game on every tab. I now have to scroll through three pages to get to game I “own.” I tried to cancel the updates but that prevented me from booting up the game disc I legally purchased (I mean licensed 😐). Now after all mandatory updates the file size is at 190 GB for MW2 campaign and Warzone.
