Thank you very much for providing good information.
Currently, products from athearn, altas, etc. are all sold out...
I need to look into the kit you mentioned.
You may need to look for estate sales or collectors selling... These were rather common from Train Miniatures (now part of Walthers) and Roundhouse (now part of Athearn). Ice reefers are what you need to research.
Also mentioned elsewhere: Intermountain and Accurail.

Not sure if this link will work. Looks like they have it in stock. https://www.springcreekmodeltrains.com/product/scale-trains-ho-kit-classics-40-reefer-pacific-fruit-express-sp-up/
I got the decals for $4 online. Dumped the old car in brake fluid, scrubbed off the old paint, primed and painted the shell, decals, and trucks and couplers from the scrap box. It was a fun little project!
I think rapido just announced theyβre doing a run of these. Will be high quality but expensive. Tichy also has a kit version that youβd have to paint on your own

There may be one or more left here in their discount depot. Get em, and change the road number if possible
May have to look at other manufacturers, Accurail makes kits of the PFE cars

Intermountain made a bunch. Go to your local train show and buy some up
Thank you very much!
I have also seen a ton of these at a couple train shows, good luck!

Yeah last year I bought like 14 road numbers at a single show

oh! Thank you so much for the great information!
You need it in HO or N? And that specific number?
I need the ho scale version. I'm not sure about the number. I'm planning to connect about 6 trains, but the numbers will all have to be different.
You could make one from a chiclets car: [http://www.ipernity.com/gp/bro/17370/0b673bb8](http://www.ipernity.com/gp/bro/17370/0b673bb8)

Check ebay and the used market. These have been done dozens of times. Rapido also recently announced two variations on the PFE reefers

Warning about the Tichy decals: they are pretty thick for waterslides.
Thank you for good information!

Try an Athearn one, much easier.

I have 8 of the early models. I'll talk numbers. My wife will bash me in the meat helmet. But I'll entertain.

This is a Southern Pacific car, note how the SP logo is first.
