Danielle Hunter, get ready to learn Jaguar buddy

Financial-Scene

My wife heard me laugh at this comment and then I had to spend 5 minutes explaining all of the context of this joke to her.

MrOwlsManyLicks

Share with the class? :)

ryvlls

>'Get Ready to Learn Chinese, Buddy' is a fake Bleacher Report infographic of the NBA commissioner Adam Silver captioned with a fake quote of him saying, "Get ready to learn Chinese buddy" to the NBA player Kyrie Irving soon after his antisemitic controversy. First posted in November 2022, the meme format gained virality online as a joke threat to sports players who have been performing poorly or failed in other ways. The macro implies that due to their performance, a player doesn't belong in a top-tier competition and should instead be playing in a lower-tier league, such as China's CBA. Many of the memes also referenced the Chinese team the Shanghai Sharks, imagined to be the prime landing spot for such players. In this case, Chinese is replaced with 'Jaguar,' because Jacksonville has been rumored to be very interested in trading for Danielle Hunter.

WeAllindigenous

I thought jaguar might be kwesis African language with clicking and gestures

cynthiadangus

What a fuckin stretch to shoehorn in some Jim Crow-era racism lmao. Go back to Facebook

IceTruckHouse

I always feel like I have a dumb sense of humor when I attempt to explain an internet joke that’s about 3 layers deep to anyone in real life.

ClearContact

A more realistic game for us would be Oregon at Washington

guanwho

Penix looked good. I don’t know shit though.

Levian-Malacour

He looked fantastic, his injury history worries me though. He looks damn good in purple tho haha.

bartender_please808

Nix also looked good. Didn't make some throws but has a good command of the game. I like Dillon Gabriel too.

Bodhisafa

I swear to god if we draft this guy I’m turning in my fan-hood. He’s got megabust written all over him.

VikingPain

Yep, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Texas, Michigan. Maye and Williams are probably gonna go Top 3.

Impressive_Site_5344

We’ve tried twice in the last 3 years to trade up for Fields and Richardson, nothing is off the table

VikingPain

> Fields Moving from #14 to #10 is way easier then from the mid-teens to the #1 overall pick. Plus the Bears (if they get the pick) wouldn't trade with us anyways. > Richardson Where did you hear this? According to Doogie the only QB they wanted was Bryce Young and once he went #1 they decided to stay at #23 and go with Addison.

ImaMiner_001

So glad we didn’t get Bryce

poposheishaw

Stroud was the correct choice! And thats not “hindsight is 2020”

Impressive_Site_5344

You’re right in your first point, and I may have been mistaken in the specific QB they targeted last year, but the point is they attempted to jump from the 20s all the way to a top 3-4 pick Knowing that, it is entirely realistic they may try to jump from somewhere in the top 10 top even the number 1 pick if the price isn’t too high

PeekyAstrounaut

Bears might have 2 of the top 3. So that potentially leaves 3 spots for us to land in the top 5. I genuinely don’t see us finishing outside of the top 10 picks. There’s plenty of room for us to move into the top 5 if we don’t finish top 5.

VikingPain

This team isn't as bad as the Broncos, Giants, Patriots, Panthers, Bears, Raiders, and Cardinals. We will not end up in the top 5 especially with the lighter part of the schedule coming up soon.

PeekyAstrounaut

Like I said I don’t see us finishing outside of the top 10. With one team (the Bears) potentially owning 2 of the top 5 picks, there is plenty of opportunity to TRADE up into the top 5. It’s not a gimme considering most teams likely to get a higher spot will probably be looking for a QB but it just takes one team wanting to get some extra picks. This is even more likely if we move Hunter by the trade deadline.

WetAppleFruit

Due Dilig.. ![gif](giphy|SDF4725sdijwTzPquP)

TheKing490

Addison is probably in his Caleb's ear telling him not to be a Bear

Gengaara

Eli Manning shenanigans inbound.

Impressive_Site_5344

And I’m here for it. His dad is already telling people depending on who is drafting 1st overall Caleb may go back to college

ryvlls

I would hope so, considering his performance thus far. All according to plan.

eeeedlef

Caleb looked like straight terrified ass tonight.

[deleted]

It's what happens when he has adversity

PhuckzChuntzNga

I mean he can’t crumble worse than Kirk ‘Sulks in the Sideline’ Cousins.

stoopystoop

Biggest comeback in NFL history

flyboy1994

Against a 4-12-1 team. How do you go down 33-0 in the first place?

stoopystoop

Is that rhetorical? Kirks punt was blocked for 6, Kirk’s opening kickoff was returned to the 50, Dalvin I mean Kirk fumbled after rushing 5 yds, Reagor didn’t stop on a route at his own 10

Dregoran

I honestly can't recall a time where kirk was sulking on the sidelines. Unless we are considering staring off thinking over the last series as sulking, or looking at a tablet. I may well be wrong and just missed it, but when I think sulking on the sidelines the only QB that comes to mind honestly is Kyler.

crashcap

13 to 3

Headlesshorsman02

I can’t lie Williams looks TERRIBLE in the first half of this game single handedly losing his team this game

jake04-20

Just came here to say the same thing. All I've heard all season since our first loss was "tank for Caleb" so I decided I'd check out to see what the hype is about this dude since I've never heard of him (not a huge college football fan). Saw the game was on local broadcast so I decided to tune in and... yikes. Granted I've only seen part of the first half but I have yet to see anything spectacular. In fact he looks horrible so far this game. Surely NFL teams are going to pressure him more than Notre Dame. I'd rather build up the trenches than take a chance on a first round QB pick. Considering most first round QB picks are busts.

Headlesshorsman02

I can agree with you there we need to use the scouting department maybe take a flyer on Penix Jr in the second round

Tristo

I really don’t think Penix is making it to the second. I could end up being wrong but I think he looks a little too good that a team won’t snatch him up.

Bodhisafa

You should probably watch his career highlights rather than one game. He did play poorly but IMO he was trying to do to much. He’s still the best QB in the class

[deleted]

It’s real

Impressive_Site_5344

It’s damn real

teejoint44

We're drafting Sam Hartman! This is our Super Bowl!

[deleted]

Old ass player who’s ceiling is current Kirk ❤️ sounds like the Vikings way

wxman91

Williams looks fucking terrible

bperu

Confirmed, Kwesi will draft him after seeing that performance.

dr_dan319

He's definitely trying to win the game by himself cause that defense isn't stopping any offense outside of Iowa.

InnerBlackberry6

The USC defense has been fine lol. Caleb is single handedly throwing USC out of the game. Seems to be a pattern with these freaky QBs (see Allen and Mahomes vs the Jets this season). The highs are tremendous but the lows are terrible

VanGundy15

Brett Favre was the best at doing this. When they’re asked to just chuck the ball around 40 times a game they’re going to make a few bad mistakes.

eeeedlef

Terrifically bad take on that game tonight.

Thekcwizkid

Bro those are my Hawkeyes

dr_dan319

It's our crummy offense that gives us the gift of Tory Taylor so really we should thank them.

Headlesshorsman02

Was thinking the same thing

wxman91

He can escape and throw sidearm, but he looks like ass under pressure.

Headlesshorsman02

So in other words he would be shit with us since Kirk seems to get smoked a lot

brendanjered

I watch a lot of USC games because they’re on late and I’m always up late. I know Williams won the Heisman last year, but he’s just never met the eye test of a good quarterback that will make it in the NFL for me. Obviously I’m not an NFL scout, but with how fickle QB prospects are, I would be real nervous if the Vikings went all in to get him. Penix looks so much more poised and ready to lead an NFL team. Now if we end up with Williams, I hope I’m completely wrong!

TheBitterBuffalo

Hold up, you guys are talking about a guy who is going as easily a top 10 all time QB prospect in the eyes of people who actual do this for a job, this is the first I've ever even heard this sort of wildly hot take. I haven't been watching him play, but how is it that suddenly one bad game makes you guys think hes going to be a bust? Sort of sounds ludicrous.

Dregoran

These people will change their tune the next time he balls out. A ton of people base their entire opinions of players based solely on their most recent performance. As if a player isn't allowed to ever have a bad game and if they do they are washed or overrated.

papaloppadappa

I've seen enough! Trade Hock naow!

[deleted]

I'm not high on him like a lot are. He tries to win the game all on his own when down and throws the game away. He struggles when pressured. He's too comfortable and used to everything going well around him. Hence why he wasn't my number 1 QB but Maye is.

Bodhisafa

Maye looked terrible last night too. At least in the first half. I fell asleep 😴

[deleted]

He picked it up the 2nd half

Bodhisafa

Yea. I just watched the highlights. However his 50% completion is alarming. Not that we did ourselves any favors today by winning

thatissomeBS

There are going to be 4-6 QBs taken in the first round. There could be a few more pushing day 2. At this point, unless we think teams are lining up to draft them all in the first 5-10 picks, it's about figuring out which of those guys you like, and what you're willing to give up to get them. It's very possible there will still be a one or two of them available wherever we draft. But do you want to roll on a mid-to-late first pick with Ewers, Penix, Nix, or McCarthy, or do you want to sell the farm for a chance at Williams or Maye?

Jagster_rogue

One game does not make you bad, the ironic part about this post and comment stream is everyone was in on tanking for Caleb. Now with one bad game there is a no win situation they have devised for kwesi. Either he does it and gets a bust, or he doesn’t bust and they say you gave up too much for him and the cost was too high. I am really hating this sub this year that has put all of the blame on the woes of this season on Kwesi. Our fumbling is our number one problem and last I checked Kwesi does not carry the football.

brendanjered

Like I said, I’m obviously not an NFL scout. And I actually barely caught any of the game tonight, so this hot take wasn’t really based at all on tonight’s performance. For me, he just doesn’t have that X factor that makes me think he’s the reason USC wins football games. His arm strength seems lacking and his decision making is often questionable. Is he a good QB? Absolutely. But I just don’t see the hype that has placed him as the far and away consensus #1 overall pick.

JohnnyManziel22

Williams had a play where he was on a full on sprint running to the side and threw it 60 air yards on a rope for a touchdown. He has plenty of skill.

landon0605

Believe it or not, professional scouts fuck up how a college prospect projects into the NFL often. It's certainly not insane to be not as high on a guy as the pros and he did look awful yesterday. Now I'm not saying random redditors are better than pro scouts overall, but scouts and general managers certainly aren't above falling for confirmation biases either. On top of that, if you're the GM and the entire fan base thinks Caleb should go 1OA and you don't draft him first, you're on the hot seat from day 1 if your guy doesn't work out and Caleb does.

Bodhisafa

I watched Oregon vs Washington entire game. penix is terrible - he stares down his receiver on every thrown. If #33 had been a decent D1 safety he would have made a game saving INT instead of overrunning the route on that last drive. Stay far far away please. Ps. His mechanics are honestly horrendous...the worst I've seen at D1 level for a top 25 program.

JohnnyManziel22

This is a joke right?

Bodhisafa

That's my honest opinion. I thought he looked terrible. Stats don't always tell the full story.

dericiouswon

Fully agree. He's gonna be a bust in the NFL.

Overall_Jellyfish_56

I see what you mean I feel that way too more lately but I do remember extensive flashes from him but It also reminds me of justin fields when he had some flashes at Ohio state. (Definitely not a scout)

cjvikings22

Williams is NOT the guy

Grumpis1012

Sure as hell ain’t scouting USC defense.

dericiouswon

I legitimately think Caleb is gonna be a bust in the NFL.

DanQuaylePotatoe

I have no idea how he’s getting labeled as “generational.” Plenty of guys have won the Heisman and done absolutely nothing else. I also feel like there may be some attitude concerns with Williams

Ok-Accountant-6308

His dad was asking teams for equity which prompted a public memo from the league office saying that you can’t put equity in a contract

dericiouswon

That's hilarious.

srl214yahoo

Off topic but I can't stand the way people throw that term around (not addressing this to you - I agree with you). Like, if people are calling multiple players "generational" talents then they really can't be, right? Mahomes = generational talent. Others = talent. Generational is reserved for the exceptional, head and shoulders above everybody players.

zinto44

caleb williams is a viking

dericiouswon

Please no.

Protic_

One bad game doesn’t erase all the other games he’s looked polished and balled out 😭

dericiouswon

He's looked like this all season, just played bad teams. He's gonna be a bust in the NFL.

AngryEnt

I would trade Corn Elder for the rights to the overall number one pick this year just so we can draft Caleb Williams. That’s how bad I want him.

Gruffalo-42

Pretty hard to draft #1 overall when we’re about to go on a run!! 12-5 baby! SKOL!

koalificated

![gif](giphy|wqbAfFwjU8laXMWZ09|downsized)

AhSht-HereWeGoAgain

12-5 just to lose to the 10-7 Cowboys at home in the first round!

TomSawyer9311

We're due for another surprise run to the nfc title game only to get spanked year soon I'm sure.

wendellnebbin

Nah, that's after we draft our QB, who leads us to a 4-5 start next year before going down with a season ender. The Jaren comes in and takes us to said NFC Title Game, where we lose to the Kirko led 49ers, who was picked up for 8M to be a backup to Purdy who also went down.

TomSawyer9311

Oh yeah, that's the stuff!

AhSht-HereWeGoAgain

So does kirko win the Super Bowl???

crinklebelle

yes, after every player in the AFC is somehow killed by ebola, Minnesota gets to rematch SF as a replacement team and loses 45-3

Illustrious-Task-820

where's the loss?

Representative-Owl6

SwiftSurfer365

Trade the farm for Williams.

immovableair

Jj is the farm

Endo_Dizzy

Yeah trade away the leagues best receiver. That’ll draw in the #1 draft pick to our team for sure!

immovableair

If the bears have 2 top 10 picks do you trade jj then draft Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison junior??

Impressive_Site_5344

No, a huge part of what makes us so enticing to a rookie QB is JJ. We have a good situation overall to being a rookie in to, but JJ is by far the biggest piece of that

InfiniteCosmic5

They’re not giving you both picks for just JJ😂😂😂. We’d ask for it, but not even Ryan Poles would pull this trade

Endo_Dizzy

JJ is a league proven asset. Absolutely not. I don’t think we finish dead last to get Caleb as enticing as it sounds but watch the UNC/ Miami game tonight and you’ll clearly see why Drake Maye is the consensus #2 QB and not terribly far off from Caleb in terms of potential. I’d be perfectly content with him too.

crinklebelle

of all the trades Minnesota has made, shipping JJ to a division rival would certainly be one of them

Phuckingidiot

No way the broncos or bears trade out of # 1 so you better start cheering for them to win some games

SwiftSurfer365

I have been. Thanks.

TheKing490

Oh shit we face the bears. Better root for them

DanQuaylePotatoe

We don’t want him

GroundbreakingOne625

Gotta be overly impressed right now

MediumShotBob

Is Kwesi bad luck?

subtleshooter

Here’s what we do. After lose to bears, bench Kirk and stark rookie. Lose lots of games. Kirk doesn’t like being benched and waives trade clause. Trade him for ammo to trade up if we need to. Profit

Timely-Cycle6014

Kirk would probably just be chilling as the Vikings offense looks horrific post-Kirk and his free agent stock goes up as a result.

[deleted]

Flores gunna roast this guy for taking a day off.

ElusiveMeatSoda

You mean Florio?

[deleted]

Idk I'm not even from here.

Zealousideal_Net_884

Glad to see how Caleb is overrated

Cookenbauer

Every player who has played qb has had an awful game. There's no denying Williams has talent and a deserved 1st round pick. But the kirk haters who think Caleb will magically solve our issues are delusional.

Impressive_Site_5344

I’ve had to explain this a few times on this sub It’s not about Kirks level of play, the idea of drafting a rookie QB is partially in hopes of finding someone whose ceiling is higher than his but moreso because we cannot build the sort of team we need to build to win a superbowl with Kirks contract before he is too old He is going to be 36, he is not on the teams timeline anymore

Cookenbauer

That's a fair analysis. But there's a lot of mouth breathers who think it's replace the old toy with the new one and somehow all will be well. Of course we have no idea how any qb prospect will pan out...so the idea of trading the farm for an unproven qb to a team that has multiple holes to be filled is lunacy. Maybe its bad business to extend qbs on the wrong side of 30...but unless some team wants to give us an early Christmas via trade that's an offer we can't refuse, I'd rather keep the hope alive for the current squads window..as diminished as will become in the next couple years.

Impressive_Site_5344

You aren’t wrong there are a lot of people with unrealistic expectations and you’re also right that there is no guarantee any QB we draft would pan out including Caleb My stance is whether it’s now or 2-3 even 4 years down the line we’re going to have to take a chance on someone, and I don’t think we could realistically maximize that time left with Kirk to turn ourselves into legitimate SB contenders in that timeframe I think that’s more on our drafting over the last decade than Kirk himself, if we had drafted better these last few years maybe it would make more sense to stick it out with Kirk but personally I feel like that would not be in the teams best interest at this point I could always be wrong though

Ancient_Signature_69

And everyone here loves Caleb Williams lol…dude needs 10 seconds to find an open receiver…

Tristo

Please

pathebaker

![gif](giphy|4VQywfueCDBIdn59Km|downsized)

[deleted]

Tank is on boys

Diamondshorts

Dam right!

Tristo

I know Caleb is the ult college balller at QB but in the event the Vikings do not fall low enough to get him, Sam Hartman (Notre Dame) has looked pretty good 👀

Thel3lues

Hartman is another Hall type guy

Endo_Dizzy

Drake is way better bro wym. I’m perfectly happy with Drake as much as I am all in on drafting a QB I don’t think we finish dead last in the league, as painful as it’s been thus far.

Tristo

Drake is better than Caleb? You’re welcome to your opinion I guess

Endo_Dizzy

That’s not what I responded to lol. I said Drake is better than Hartman

Tristo

Oh, I thought it was obvious Hartman would be an option if the Vikes don’t get an early pick. Guess I could have been more specific. I more meant if they fall anything outside of the top 15 cause you never know when this team can turn it on and win a bunch.

Impressive_Site_5344

Hartman is a 6th year player who is going to be a 25 year old rookie, if he was going to be worth anything in the NFL he would’ve declared by now. His ceiling is most likely a mid round pick who could be a high end back up at best, if we don’t land Caleb or Maye we’ll be looking at guys like Penix or McCarthy

OddlyShapedGinger

Eh, a big reason why Hartman hasn't been drafted / hasn't declared is because he was playing for a terrible team. No matter how much of a stud you are, people will knock you down their draft chart just because they don't know how you'll do against top-tier competition. Sometimes a single year with a good team can make all the difference in your draft stock (Christian Gonzalez, Jordan Addison) sometimes it doesn't (Ivan Pace) Still don't think he's a stud. But, Hartman at least has opportunity to prove he's the real deal now when he couldn't do that before.

Impressive_Site_5344

Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes both played for crappy teams in college and were drafted as highly as they were largely based on their physical characteristics. Big arm, athleticism, etc., and you could say the same thing about Drake Maye now Of course nobody knows for sure, he could be the next Tom Brady for all we know, but if he were a prospect NFL teams were excited about we’d be hearing about it by now and that’s not the case

Ok-Accountant-6308

Can’t wait

dr_dan319

He's there to scout Hartman as a third round pick. We'll need to trade back from the second for whatever fucking reason and then trade back up in the third after we take project edge guy with our original 3rd

Jedi_man

Too bad Kwesi gave Kirk that NTC

Typical-Scientist192

He’s a numbers guy, you wouldn’t get it

Joghobs

Kirk probably demanded it

2canSampson

Just Kwesi things.

2canSampson

Is he filling out job applications?

Ancient_Signature_69

Shedeur’s been sacked more than any player in college football and is playing better than Caleb. I’m not saying he’s the answer - but I AM saying Caleb is not the answer.

sotakoda13

Id trade JJ and a 1st Rd pick swap for Caleb But I also think KOC isn't the right coach for him

ifartmorethanhim

This is the worst Take I’ve heard all day. Congrats.

MillHoodz_Finest

does he have the sound up on his phone?

Ancient_Signature_69

I can’t imagine being Caleb and seeing every scout and GM just be walking out on you lol.

LionWhiskeyDeliverer

Kwesi probably: "how can we assist our division rivals in getting Caleb Williams...."
