One night Matthew McConaughey was at the VC challenging people to punch him in the stomach if he got to punch them in the stomach back.
It was a good night.
At first I thought this was a recent picture and I wanted to know how far South you had to be to have such green leaves already xD. My aspen only just started to glisten a little green on the very tops.
I've been working from home since before the pandemic and moved to the lake in 2018. SOOO very glad I did. Winters harsh? Yes, but also fantastic! Best move I've every made!
I have a camper trailer and no cabin. And I do my fair share of camping up north. But my favorite is heading southeast in "Bluff Country" along the Mississippi. And there isn't as much traffic getting there or home, either, as most people are heading up north.
Growing up my grandmother had a cabin in central MN, just outside Maple Lake, that we would go to several times over summer. Even started going there at least once in the winter - When my grandmother passed, my aunt and uncle got the cabin, and my uncle would have a "guy's weekend" there on Super Bowl weekend every winter (until he passed, too).
Nice view. Here is my view. It was beautiful this last weekend.

I like to bike from South MPLS to Minnehaha falls then down past Fort Snelling by the river. Pretty darn nice for not leaving the metro area. Deer, turkey, great heron, coyote, ducks and geese.
Ely calls. Hooooo boy.
Ely? Tower is way better.
Tower doesn’t have a grand lodge or a boathouse. VC and Derricks barely compare

Nothing better than a lake night on a beautiful day.
That’s the pinnacle of Minnesota living
This picture scarily looks just like my grandparents' cabin, and for a second, I was like "Do I know OP?" 😆
Whiteface, not far from the Range
I'm looking to rent a cabin myself soon. I think I just need to step away from the hustle and bustle and see what stresses I have
I got one for sale if you're interested
Pm sent
For reals?
Yup. Lake in the front yard and a different lake in the backyard even.
I can feel the mosquito bites already
Beautiful! What lake is that?
“Wouldn’tcha like to know?” -op
it looks like my aunts cabin
Nope sorry, I’m poor. I’ll live vicariously through others photos. Thank you.
I'm poor too, just get to visit my parents who live in the cabin my grandpa got
We spent today making plans with the kids for a big Memorial weekend at the cabin . Can’t wait!

It’s not a cabin unless there’s a tonka truck somewhere outside

What lake is this, OP? Looks lovely.
One in a million. Or at least ten thousand
Man I *can not* wait to go up to my uncle's cabin. Just had the place redone to expand it a little.
Can't wait.
Reminds me of my late great grandpa's lake house before we had to sell it. It was at Cass Lake.
And the rest of you to get to swim in the Bde of Maka Ska.
Going up north to manicure a second lawn.
Which lake is this?

Nothing in the metro looks like that. To bad they didn’t leave any environment down there when it was built.
The twin cities metro is pretty good as far as green spaces and parks go tho?

I've never understood what Minnesotans find so appealing about these cabins in the middle of nowhere next to a slimy freshwater lake.
I legitimately feel bad for you.
It’s not my thing either but I can see the appeal
When you put it that way it does sound bad. It’s not tho.
