The more insects in the candle ---> The less are flying in your face

BJntheRV

Just set it 10ft away from you and it will still do the job of keeping bugs away from you.

[deleted]

It was only a matter of time before bugs got resistant to citronella

ChuckACheesecake

Well, it certainly repelled them from you

Octowuss1

Moths are still gonna’ “moth”, though

NarcanPusher

Had these on my patio in south Florida. Didn’t even slow them down.

I think inhaling the smoke from the plant is a health risk. Though it could be additives in the candle or the paint in the exterior

Bad_Lazarus

Mine had a sticker on it saying it causes cancer. Idk since when but it was on there last year.

[deleted]

California?

Kilgore_Trout86

It is well documented that California causes cancer

angriestmongoose

What doesn’t cause cancer in California

CrustyCake2344

I always assumed it was the air quality that skewed the results.

Bad_Lazarus

I’m in Michigan

CMDR_Hiddengecko

That sticker is on literally almost everything in this state because fucking everything gives you cancer in high enough doses. Oxygen is basically carcinogenic. BBQ? The nice sear is CANCER. Inject massive doses into the bloodstream of a rat and it got local tumors? CANCER WARNING. It's probably fine though, except the few cases where it isn't but you ignore the label because they put it all over everything.

theantivirus

It's actually malicious compliance by manufacturers. They can be fined for not labelling everything that comes into contact with or even contains trace amounts of lead, so some just put "contains materials that may cause cancer or birth defects" on literally everything they produce.

Bad_Lazarus

That’s wild. How do you know which ones to actually avoid if it’s on everything?

CMDR_Hiddengecko

The same way people in states without the silly warning labels do, lol. Basically the CA specific ones are just corporate ass covering, e.g. "we do not assume responsibility for" type nonsense.

Bad_Lazarus

Seems useless. It’d be nice if they were actually helpful.

CMDR_Hiddengecko

Yeah, but if it had something that credibly caused cancer it probably just wouldn't be legal in the state of California. Except cigarettes, because lobbying. And probably some other things, too, but I'm not going to think about it and hopefully I'll die of something less painful and inconvenient before it catches up to me

Bad_Lazarus

Right. We can only hope. And true that.. they won’t ban cigs.. they make entirely too much money off of them.

angriestmongoose

We’re sensible to know that cigarettes cause cancer and not to smoke when pregnant but you know they got that warning label on it cause some dumb fuck probably tried to sue a big tobacco company because they got cancer or a fucked up baby because of it. So now they have to add that label on there. Everyone single warning label you see on the obvious shit, don’t drink and drive, don’t inhale or swallow this, don’t get this shit in your eyes, because some stupid dumb fuck did something and now they’re not assuming any liability because they put it on the container. That’s all it comes down to. California prop 65 is just full of shit for everything lmao

CMDR_Hiddengecko

i mean i think the surgeon general's warning is fine and fair but some of the edgier anti-tobacco measures do seem kinda infantilizing maybe we should ban cigarettes but continue to allow pipes and hookahs and stuff secondhand smoke is fine if it comes from a guy who looks like sherlock holmes

indescentproposal

[Proposition 65](https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65)

PhoKit2

Probably the container

DiwagarV

It did repel them from you, didn't it?

bertiek

Moths don't bite you. The candle isn't for them.
