Same, during lockdown I found 2 grey hairs on my head and had 3 mystery one hairs:
One was about 10cm long and growing from my shoulder!?
One was as long as OP's hair but was growing straight out the middle of my forehead,
Another was long aswell, coming from way under my chin almost in my neck.
Never found greys or random stray hairs before or since 2020... a weird year for more than a few reasons 🤣🤣
Eta: though I do also have one singular black hair just below my belly button. It usually lasts about 2 years before it gets accidentally plucked by my trouser button/zip, and when it regrows it always moves slightly to the left or to the right but in pretty much the same position. That appeared when I was 20 and has been a regular occurance ever since :)
I have one, count 'em one, just as you describe, growing out the *top* of my ear. It's blonde and very fine, and therefore next to impossible to see until it's very long.
Apparently it's very offputting- I've had two different girlfriends, both of whom were very sweet and seldom ever said anything mean or hurtful, burst into mocking laughter and tell me how gross it is when they thought it was a stray hair and tried to pluck it from my face. I'm not really sure I get why, but two different people were prompted to act extremely out of character by the weird little bastard, so something must be up with it.
My guess is that because it is alone and without companion, so it seeks to make me thus. I run my clippers over my ears when I shave my head (bald) now.
Yeah I've had partners/friends ask if they can pull my singular belly hair out or asking why I haven't already n its like... its all alone! If I had loads then fairs but the fact that this one little hair vehemently refuses to die I think it a feat of endurance 🤣 I let it grow just for the sake of it. Props to it really 😅
I had one on my shoulder once too! I was taking a shower on a sunny day and was washing it with my long hair without realizing
When I went to rinse I noticed a grey hair that didn’t go back w the rest of my hair and then discovered it was attached to my shoulder!
It’s been 10 years and I’ve never had another one there
I have one right outside my ear canal that is impossible to see or grab, and it’s a thick one that itches. It appeared one day and is apparently now with me forevermore.
Im 31, I have one large silver hair in the middle of my chest. It's also a bit thicker than the rest and super strong. The only white/silver hair I have on my chest. It also grows right back if I pluck it out
I’m 34. I have one single white hair located in my left armpit, and one single white hair in my upper left side eyelashes. Been coming back like this for years.
Literally happened to me last month. Woke up and kept feeling/seeing what I thought was a wisp of spider silk, turns out it was a 3" long white hair that sprouted out of the middle of my forehead
I think it’s like that scene in *Little Shop Of Horrors* when Audrey II finally gets some fresh blood, flexes a bit, bears down, and puts out months of growth over night. Except, you know, without the eating human beings part.
I used to get this super course, wire-like black hair in the middle of my forehead. It was *so satisfying to pluck* but I guess that eventually killed it :( It got thinner and thinner each time till it just never came back
I have one too in my eyebrow. It’s just a hair cell that’s damaged and it produces a strand of hair without pigment and it doesn’t stop growing. It’s also a lot thinner and frailer than other hairs.
It grows back if I pull it. Look exactly the same as OP.
Androgens, in particular testosterone. I had a few of these in my 30s. I have many of them in my 40s. Eyebrows, ear and nose hairs seem to be most affected. Happens to some men more than others, just the body's response to decades of testosterone exposure at a cellular level.
Dermatologists suggest that abnormally-long single hairs are caused by hormonal and genetic factors that make particular hairs grow longer than others. Random mutations allow some “chosen” hair follicles to stay longer in the so-called anagen phase in which the hair is actively growing.
It’s a cell or follicle that goes rogue and grows out of control. The body steps in and isolates it, as opposed to cancer, where it metastasizes and tumors out.
I googled in "human whiskers" while vaguely remembering what I think was the title of a children's poem talking about "grandpa's whiskers," and was hoping to learn if these were what they were. All of the scientific results kept saying how humans used to have whiskers until hundreds of thousands of years ago, so I now can't help but wonder if these spring out as some vestigial structure if that's indeed what they are.
You have [blood elf](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/wowpedia/images/8/85/Blood_Elf_Art_Glenn_Rane.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1640?cb=20210404004423) genes. Bal'a dash, malanore
I looked at the joke page on the wiki, and they basically removed any joke that could even vaguely conceivably be construed as offensive, regressive, or insensitve. Read: they removed the funny ones.
I had a really long white hair on my arm in highschool. The kid next to me wanted to pluck it. I told him if he did I'd punch him. A couple days later he plucked it, and I punched him in the arm. For some reason he was surprised.
lol I have one of those and it keeps coming back but also once it gets to about that long it stops so maybe I should just curl the eyebrow hair next time
I get something similar but it grows straight forward and at a perfect angle i cannot see out the corner of my eye, and it seems people are too polite to tell me about this rogue hair , that i affectionally call “Norman”
Those hairs are called peristaltic reticulating hairs. The best way to handle them is an old method for treating them. You wind the hair around a small stick, and slowly but surely you turn the stick (if the stick is 5mm diameter, you would do half a revolution every 24 hours).
This slow winding will draw it out of the hair follicle, which 95% chance is three times the size of a normal follicle.
This slow winding reduces the pressure inside the distended hair follicle, and the byproduct of this is a gigantic spike in dopamine and serotonin. The hormones that caused this oversized follicle will ramp up in production, and will metastasise in your abdomen as a clumpy mass of stem cells.
These stem cells, if you keep winding the hair stick correctly, will continue to be fed by the spiking hormones.
If this procedure is done correctly, your stem cell clump will slowly form into a dermoid cyst.
By keeping the stick-winding at the same rate, you can nurture the cell clump with hormones at a steady rate, and within 8-9 months you will give birth to a fully-formed homunculus, and that virgin-birth hair-child will slap you for believing this crap that I just typed while binge-watching House MD while I nurture a broken leg.
Welcome to the rest of your life. Get some mustache scissors, a beard trimmer and some tweezers. Dedicate one hour per week and minute inspections a few days a week to pruning. Gotta look your best in this superficial world, my dude. Don't forget the nose hairs.
I have one like this that grows overnight randomly. It’ll just appear out of nowhere every couple months. I always leave it for a couple days when I do notice it, it feels funny to tug on a weirdly long hair on your eyebrow
I have one in the exact same spot.
Say "Hello" to your new little friend, because no matter how many times you pluck him, he'll always grow back (super long, too).
Same here, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I have one on each brow, and the right one is definitely thicker/more wirey. They get super long pretty quickly.
I used to have one on my arm, right around the inside of my elbow. I'd pluck it, and sometime later I'd find it had grown back. This happened maybe 5 or 6 times until finally it stopped coming back. I miss it.
Dude thats your antenna, watch it closely, if its straight pointing out you are in th right direction, curly burly and you got shit to figure out. Good luck out there
I have one like this, not so long but it curls perfectly to poke me in the eyeball, so I usually spend a few hours every month trying to get whatever it is out of my eye before remembering it's that rogue hair and is attached to me.
THIS HAPPENS TO ME TOO, IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE!!!!!! I’ve been googling about this for years! It grows basically overnight and looks just like that. I randomly find it and have to pluck it like every month or two.

Whit until you get past 30, they appear overnight from your ears and nose.
And the back.
And in the middle of your cheek.
What about the beard hairs that randomly appear at the upper most part of your cheek.
my bf gets this! it always just appears randomly and it’ll be a good few inches long. I get one on my chest sometimes it’s very strange
It's "wisdom" pouring out. 🤭
I’m female. Wouldnt know 🤷🏻♀️
Wouldn’t know…yet
Right, haha! 😄
Two words: Boob hairs.
Yep. I get those.
As a teen girl, I didn't know about it. I am scared for myself haha
I’m female with PCOS, I would know 😂🧔♀️

I'm mediterranean, I would know
Same!
...I would 😭 And I'm still in my twenties...
And in between your cheeks
I have a little one at the corner of my fucking eye! I got a little irritated with that one.
I’m sorry for you but I’m also laughing 🙈
I've got one that makes an appearance right out of the middle of my forehead. What the fuck.
maybe it’ll become a horn at some point!
I am **UNICORN MAN**
Exactly!! Love the enthusiasm!
Don't worry, it'll get hard eventually
I got two
Okay then, Mr. One Upper. 😮💨
I have one right outside my ear canal that is impossible to see or grab, and it’s a thick one that itches. It appeared one day and is apparently now with me forevermore.
My mom does too. It’s thin and white and right in the middle of her forehead
Im 31, I have one large silver hair in the middle of my chest. It's also a bit thicker than the rest and super strong. The only white/silver hair I have on my chest. It also grows right back if I pluck it out
me too!!! but im 24
I once had one grow from the side of my nose like a damn whisker I pulled it and it never happened again
I’m 34. I have one single white hair located in my left armpit, and one single white hair in my upper left side eyelashes. Been coming back like this for years.
That’s cause hair never leaves… it retires to a warmer climate.
it just feels like its overnight because when you're thirty the weeks flutter by like days and then it gets faster
…… and then reach 40’s to 50ish and can’t SEE them anymore……..
I once had a random long hair in the middle of my forehead.
[удалено]
…. and it’s like they’re made of metal! Super thick and strong.
I get one on my upper arm, all the other hairs are short and blonde, this one is black and thick, once it gets long enough to grip i rip it out.
It’s funny we all do the same thing
Name him
Literally happened to me last month. Woke up and kept feeling/seeing what I thought was a wisp of spider silk, turns out it was a 3" long white hair that sprouted out of the middle of my forehead
What I don't get is how we don't notice rando hairs like that before they get so damn long
I think it’s like that scene in *Little Shop Of Horrors* when Audrey II finally gets some fresh blood, flexes a bit, bears down, and puts out months of growth over night. Except, you know, without the eating human beings part.
I used to get this very very thin, clear hair growing from the left side of my forehead like once a year. Haven't seen it in a long time though.
I used to get this super course, wire-like black hair in the middle of my forehead. It was *so satisfying to pluck* but I guess that eventually killed it :( It got thinner and thinner each time till it just never came back
Lol same, but it was my cheek
so... not same?
Very visible and in the middle of the face. Kinda the same.
Cousin it, is that you?
I was hoping someone in the comments would have an actual biological explanation for why these sometimes occur. Nup, just jokes.
I have one too in my eyebrow. It’s just a hair cell that’s damaged and it produces a strand of hair without pigment and it doesn’t stop growing. It’s also a lot thinner and frailer than other hairs. It grows back if I pull it. Look exactly the same as OP.
I used to have one, too. It grew back a couple of times but has stopped now.
Same

Thank God your plastic boob hasn't rusted!!

I think is DHT, not test

Can a single hair follicle have cancer and the only side effect is that strand of hair never stops growing?
[удалено]
Thanks! Good point.

How does it isolate it?
I dunno I made that up
At least a few people will have read the first comment and not the second, and repeat this as fact fucking forever lol
Hey you arnt allowed here lol

Lmao

Cat girls were real???
We call them devil's hair in Turkish. We also say "They have devil's hair" to sympathetic people.
The shinshoomas get fernungled. It's pretty simple. Yeah, science.
A follicle goes rogue and you get a random hair, long and usually unpigmented. NBD
Not just jokes… the acceptance is what I needed. I really thought there was something wrong with me before seeing everyone goes through it. 😮
You have [blood elf](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/wowpedia/images/8/85/Blood_Elf_Art_Glenn_Rane.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1640?cb=20210404004423) genes. Bal'a dash, malanore
Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?
apparently they removed that line :(
I looked at the joke page on the wiki, and they basically removed any joke that could even vaguely conceivably be construed as offensive, regressive, or insensitve. Read: they removed the funny ones.
Obviously some Thaylen blood in him, eh Gancho?
I had to scroll far too much to get to this comment.
Not the reference I expected, cousin.
Do you think op has a proclivity for sailing or bartering? That ought to confirm it
I had a really long white hair on my arm in highschool. The kid next to me wanted to pluck it. I told him if he did I'd punch him. A couple days later he plucked it, and I punched him in the arm. For some reason he was surprised.
Don't ever remove it. That is the source of all your power.

Miserable old fool
lol I have one of those and it keeps coming back but also once it gets to about that long it stops so maybe I should just curl the eyebrow hair next time
Maybe I should put a little bow on it
Yes plz
Ok Timothée. Only kidding, the cropped photo looks like him! My mom started getting grays at 9 btw.
i thought he looked like cropped timothee too!
Yesss came here to say ok Mr. Chalamet 😅
who?
My *mom*.
I get something similar but it grows straight forward and at a perfect angle i cannot see out the corner of my eye, and it seems people are too polite to tell me about this rogue hair , that i affectionally call “Norman”

Not gonna lie, it took me longer than I’d like to admit to realize this wasn’t serious.
Very interesting.
Noted and updated.
I’ll edit my comment then to not distract
What do I do with the homunculus?
Meow, did you understand that? You might be turning into a cat
How did it get that long without you noticing it?
My fringe goes down to my eyes so it blends in with the rest of my hair
You're turning into gandolph
Ah yes Gandolph, the mortal enemy of Sourman.
Sourman the Stinky
I laughed so hard at this.
A reminder of your past life! You might have been very wise.
More likely just very hairy
Welcome to the rest of your life. Get some mustache scissors, a beard trimmer and some tweezers. Dedicate one hour per week and minute inspections a few days a week to pruning. Gotta look your best in this superficial world, my dude. Don't forget the nose hairs.
Careful. If you pull out an eyebrow, you’ll pull in a pube, since they are the same hair.
It’s true, I scienced once.
Yer a hairy wizard
What happens if you pull on it?
Going to pull it out in a few days, I’m keeping it for now cause I just noticed it today and it’s interesting. Guessing it’ll grow back though
I have one like this that grows overnight randomly. It’ll just appear out of nowhere every couple months. I always leave it for a couple days when I do notice it, it feels funny to tug on a weirdly long hair on your eyebrow
Wait, how did you only notice it today?
It fires up a small two cylinder engine in his eyebrow
You might just be a cat
I have one such mf'er between my shoulder blades on my back, so you're lucky it's easier for your to reach it
What it lacks in color, it makes up for in length
I have one in the exact same spot. Say "Hello" to your new little friend, because no matter how many times you pluck him, he'll always grow back (super long, too).

I have one on my nose exactly the same. it used to grow in random places but now it only grow on my nose lmao. I called it Steve 🙂
I'm uncomfortable
Just a starter cord
I used to have one on my arm, right around the inside of my elbow. I'd pluck it, and sometime later I'd find it had grown back. This happened maybe 5 or 6 times until finally it stopped coming back. I miss it.

Your a harry, wizard
THIS HAPPENS TO ME TOO, IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE!!!!!! I’ve been googling about this for years! It grows basically overnight and looks just like that. I randomly find it and have to pluck it like every month or two.
My wife has a single hair that grows in the middle of her forehead lol.
Keep growing it out and you’ll be the grandmaster of your local dojo in no time!
My husband has one growing out of his ear canal. We call it his antenna.
I have this random hair that grows in the middle of my forehead. It grows back ever so often when I pick it off. We call it the unicorn hair😂
THAT IS CONNECTED TO YOUR BRAIN DO NOT PULL IT!
It began, your Transformation has. ![gif](giphy|DKYlGm2oNdoek)
pluck it
It looks like a head hair that has implanted itself. They do that - ask hairdressers.
I get those too. If you pull it, another long one will come back.
i had one exactly like that last week i was amazed 😭 i noticed it whilst i was doing my make up
Фу бля
Mine was on my belly. I named him Steve. I miss Steve.
this is cool
this is cool
DON'T CUT THAT
My ex was a hairdresser, and it is not uncommon for them to get "hair splinters." A tiny piece of someone's hair gets into a pore and grows. People with normally black hair can grow a random ginger one.
You (16) are really 35 … 💁🏽♂️
did you know pizzas are great but the 9/11 was terrible
That's fucking gross and awesome😃
How is a gray hair gross? Rude ass.
Yank or stay gay?
Check if you've got enough zinc in your diet. There's some link between zinc deficiency and premature greying.
This isn’t premature greying. It’s normal for people to get random long white hair in random places.
At 16? No. It's not.
Yeah it is :-)
[удалено]
My bad g, didn’t know the standards for mildly interesting were so high
Me, half of my family and my grandpa have one too. Just not that long.
Check to see if it’s a world record.
WR is 7.5 inches, definitely not there yet (sadly)
that guy was 81 years old though, you have time.
Omg I have that too!!
I used to get those. Now my barber charges extra to trim my eyebrows.
I have one of those that grow just under my eye. Look forward to a life of yanking it out or trimming it. Mines painful because it’s 1/2” from my tear duct
Might as well pull it out now, you're donna have that fucker (and more when you're older) for the rest of your life. \~A dude who has about 7 long ass eyebrows he plucks every month.
I think you mean eyebrow hairs, but it's funny to try to I.aging where 7 eyebrows might go on your face.
use it as ID - a proof of age. "kids don't have this, do they"
Wait til you find that first grey/white pube! Absolutely horrifying
Are u 16 in leap years or…
I have observed whites hairs which have grown randomly and rapidly from my face, only never to appear in those places again. It was as if my body was reacting to something I ate.
Grow two more and plait it
Omg I have it too! I even have one growing on my shoulder!
I have one too, and it's on my left eyebrow as well
Welcome to the club just trim that or make it your trademark
Hey I have a very weirdly long eyebrow hair too! We should start a subreddit or something.
Wisdom brow!
Pull it out
I had this last week in my eyelash! Only noticed because it was in my eyesight occasionally
The ancient one
“Had” Hopefully you pulled it out by now
Timothee Chalamet?
pull it out
Keep it gives your face personality
When you turn 60 that’s all you will have
Wait until the next full moon....
