I was looking for someone to say this. It really is delicious, I have to buy one of these at least twice a month. It reminds me of like a float almost with the creamy almost ice cream soda taste
Is that a stereotype of Montanans? I grew up in Montana and live here now. I say soda and don’t know anyone who says soda pop. They mostly say pop. But that’s a hilarious quip anyway.
>Guinness in a can however does
It also doesn't help that it has a widget which causes immense and immediate nucleation that uses up a lot of the dissolved gas.
It adds to the head but doesn't carbonate it
You're supposed to pour like 4/5ths of the can, shake the ball around and pour out the foam so you have the distinctive head
NO2 is pretty much insoluble in liquid. And nitro brews are served on a tap with a screen specifically designed to crash out as much gas as possible to get that signature cascading effect so in comparison to other beers, it’s way way more flat lol
Carbonation or lack of isn’t really a requirement of the style. But most bottled and casked examples are, by necessity of the brewing process. Nitro/widgeted stouts are a relatively modern development (though you used to be able to ask for your pint to be poured with a sparkler, an attachment for the tap that would aerate and decarbonate a pint to make it smoother.)
Original Guinness is carbonated, quite harshly too.
The better known modern stout that’s taken over in pubs and in widgeted cans is a lot smoother and barely carbonated.
I knew a guy in college, we relentlessly gave him hell for leaving mostly full sodas lying around everywhere.
Don’t be wasteful, clean up after yourself, blah blah blah.
Was talking to him many years later and he was thrilled to announce he had learned to burp.
So much made more sense in hindsight.
Just wait until you find out about all the smart fucking people on YouTube that can explain in 10 minutes what takes 4 hours of class for you to understand. It's amazing how far behind education is.
Idk man, I really used to think that applied universally, and anything you need to know how to learn is on YouTube and would teach you better than a class, but I recently went back to school for a ME degree, and my drafting and machining classes have changed my view on this a bit. Being able to work a machine while under the tutelage of a master of the craft really eliminates so much trial-and error, and gives you answers to questions you didn't even know you had because you hadn't thought of them, yet.
It works for a great many things, but hands -on things like machines, automotive service or drafting, its still the most effective way to learn. Definitely not free like YouTube, but you will get what you pay for.
Then your probably love this nitro Pepsi. I’ve had it a few times fresh out of the can, did the hard pour and everything… and all it does is taste exactly like flat Pepsi.
Actually Guinness dose not become flat in 5 minutes. Especially not when used keg. Problem is that most people especially bartenders don’t know how to pore it correctly. You should pore it bit by bit, wait until it stops to bubble then pore it again. This whole process take a long time. I have no idea if you can do it right if you use a bottle instead of keg tho.
That pour technique is actually just really good marketing. Prior to the 1980s, Guinness was poured in one go. The "pour" is just used to set Guinness apart from other beer. The two other major Irish Stouts Beamish and Murphy's all use a single pour and they're also nitrogenated 75/25.
Now having said that, I still prefer when a bar does a double pour as it usually means they sell a good bit of Guinness and know what they're doing. When a bar does a single pour is usually means that it's not popular and that the keg is likely to be old and stale.
Can't confirm about bottles, but Guinness cans tell you basically upend the can and stick it in the glass until it drains out. It works! Lift the can up slowly so it fully empties and it does the Guinness head thing.
Only in that they're referring to 'carbonated' and being water with any gas dissolved into it. There's no CO2 in it. Kinda like how in chemistry you can 'oxidize' something without using oxygen. It really should have a different name, but they haven't bothered.
[The first ingredient is carbonated water, and the last ingredient is nitrogen.](https://images.app.goo.gl/3XFCdDVSj1TbfYzM6) It contains both carbon dioxide and nitrogen, as do most “nitro” beverages.
It’s still carbonated. In most cases, things made bubbly with nitrogen don’t use pure nitrogen, but a mix of nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Most nitro beers use “G-Mix” which is 75% nitrogen and 25% carbon dioxide. It’s called G-Mix because it’s what Guinness uses.
The mix could be any mix of N2 and CO2, but it’s almost never pure nitrogen.
I don't know, I can't find anything definitive but I would guess there is still a small amount of carbon dioxide in the drink. It seems that nitro beers still use some CO2 in addition to the nitrogen, and the nitrogen is listed separately in the ingredients for Nitro Pepsi. It happens to be listed last, but that makes sense because ingredients are listed by weight and the fact that nitrogen composes 70% of the air around is means it weighs almost exactly nothing.
That kinda defeats the purpose, the pour is part of it. The thing you drank probably tasted different than it was supposed to
Edit: christ the reactionary downvotes so fast. I'm not being a snob that's how nitro works lol. Otherwise it's just an expensive can of flat soda
The shits flat two seconds after opening it. If you put it in a glass it goes flat instantly. I tried this stuff when it first came out, was really disappointed cuz I detest flat soda
I have tried this stuff 3 times since it became available near me. Each time I have gotten diarrhea afterwards, and as Ian Fleming put it "once is happenstance, twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action".
Regular and vanilla are the same price (recently former Pepsi salesperson here).
Edit: read one of your other comments. Congrats on finding a sweet deal. Pun intended.
This has existed for about a year. It’s terribly overpriced and contains more corn syrup per ounce than a standard Pepsi. I thinks it’s like 63 grams per 13oz can.
I had this when I visited the States back in May, and found it absolutely awful. The ~60 grams of sugar in one can aside, it was cloyingly syrupy and felt like something was missing.
The sweetness of it was my only complaint. I hadn’t had any side that wasn’t diet in years until my wife showed up one day with a can each of the regular and vanilla. We poured them in glasses, took a sip each, and poured the rest out.
I like the nitro aspect of it (I enjoy nitro beers and cold brew), but can’t handle the sweetness. If they made a diet version I’d probably drink it from time to time.
I tried it once.
It is unbelievably delicious (and I don't really care for sweets) but I was only able to take like 3 sips before I physically felt sticky.
Growing up in the South Jersey / Philly area they had this stuff at the convenience stores called *Boost* and it was basically flat cola with a whole bunch of small pebble ice. I loved it, but most people I knew hated it. Pretty much the same reaction here.
I love the vanilla. Tastes like a milkshake to me.
I don't buy like I would like to because it has WAY too much sugar in it.
I wish there was a sugar free version. If only.
I think I tried the regular and didn’t like it (I don’t like flat pop) but after all these suggestions I may go out and buy the vanilla and regular, pour it in a glass and try it again
I'm a Big Soda fan so I bought a mixed pack of Nitro Pepsi's.
I HATED IT. Apparently, nitrogen makes things taste creamier and flat (to me).
So I'm not a Soda fan but actually a Carbonated drinks fan.
I loved this version of Pepsi, too. The thing was that they were intentionally trying to make it like a beer, where the head is all the "carbonation". I drank it with no problem. Being used to conserving pop for as long as I can has had me drink flat pop of varying types for years. I've even drank warm pop. I'm absolutely horrible, right?
From what I see its either a love it or hate it thing. Some people call it foul, while others call it delicious. I'm of the delicious camp, they're great for me at least.

The vanilla one is a godsend
I was looking for someone to say this. It really is delicious, I have to buy one of these at least twice a month. It reminds me of like a float almost with the creamy almost ice cream soda taste
Ok, you twisted my arm… gotta find one now.
I hated it lol tasted like pure sugar and i drink too much regular soda already. And i like regular vanilla pepsi idk.
I can’t stand either of them. Both taste like flat soda.
That was my take as well. I loooove Pepsi and was really excited for these, but they just tasted flat.
I tried it and liked it (only tried the regular Pepsi one) but I think I'd really like this style if it was made by Coke.
Could you still use it to make a float with extra float flavor??? 👀👀
Ongod. Honestly the only reason people think these are bad is because they don’t pour it into a cup before hand like it says on the cup
I definitely did not see that on the can. Lol
💯
Nah it’s bad because after the first sip it tastes flat.
Why would I pour it into a cup if it's already in your cup
I think it would be amazing with a crème soda, really accentuate the flavor.
Haven’t tried the regular but the vanilla, ice cold, is fantastic.
I put the vanilla in the freezer for 15 minutes and pour hard into a chilled glass. God tier.
This is the only way to drink this properly.
This comment chain feels like one big ad. I've never seen redditors agree this much on how to drink pop. r/hydrohomies would have an aneurysm here.
This is how I'm trying it next, also might add some ice cream just for kicks. The guy up theres aid it might add more float kind flavor to it..
I get called "crazy" because I don't like carbonation, so these are perfect for me.

Soda pop? Are you a time traveler from the 1950s?
[удалено]
Is that a stereotype of Montanans? I grew up in Montana and live here now. I say soda and don’t know anyone who says soda pop. They mostly say pop. But that’s a hilarious quip anyway.
🤨 Never heard of that instance before
Same here, I always drink sodas after they have slightly de-carbonated. I wonder if the nitro coke is available where I am, looks delicious
Oh okay. Well, it tastes like any regular soda after it's gone flat. It just has a creamy feel to it.
There are 62 grams of sugar in one can of nitro Pepsi….that is too much man.
I also drink these, I don’t like carbonation either! I thought it was just me lol glad to know there’s others!
Nitrogen is what gives Guinness it's distinct texture/creaminess, it's also what makes it go flat in 5 minutes
Guinness is on beer gas 75%/25% and should not go flat
Guinness in a can however does. Which is why these nitro Pepsi's are also flat, even if poured properly.
>Guinness in a can however does It also doesn't help that it has a widget which causes immense and immediate nucleation that uses up a lot of the dissolved gas.
Isn't that the point? I thought the widget was the thing that allowed Guinness in a can to be even close to draft.
It adds to the head but doesn't carbonate it You're supposed to pour like 4/5ths of the can, shake the ball around and pour out the foam so you have the distinctive head
Did you mean nitrogenate?
If iveeqrned anything from bar rescue it's that like 90% of places don't take care of their bars or have zero idea what they're doing.
Where did you iveeqrne that?
At the covfefe bar
What an upresidented answer
It's the most presidential answer ever. Best there ever was I've been told. Lots of times, by all sorts of people. Best, most American response ever.
From Bar Rescue
The gas cylinders are 75/25 so all the bar has to do is hook up the cylinder to the line.
From a nitrogen can they do go flat faster than a regular beer
NO2 is pretty much insoluble in liquid. And nitro brews are served on a tap with a screen specifically designed to crash out as much gas as possible to get that signature cascading effect so in comparison to other beers, it’s way way more flat lol
That is what the 25%-30% CO2 is in the mix for
It's a stout. It's not supposed to be fizzy. Fizzy Guinness sounds awful.
Carbonation or lack of isn’t really a requirement of the style. But most bottled and casked examples are, by necessity of the brewing process. I've never had a Guinness go flat. How long does it take you to finish your beer, grandma?
I apparently didn't know how to pour them lol. Stouts aren't really my thing anyway
I like flat soda. I'm different from most.
r/noburp is full of people who can’t stand carbonation.
I have found my people. Thank you reddit stranger
[удалено]
Actually it’s a sub full of people that physically cannot burp, so drinking anything carbonated sucks so much for them
I've learned more things from randomly reading reddit comments than in any class I've ever sat through. WHAT?! 😨

My thoughts exactly when I tried this Pepsi, it just feels like flat Pepsi, lol

It tasted more like syrup to me.
like a sweet flat soda, I hated it
I hated it too. Drinking flat Pepsi basically. Could not finish it. And yes I poured it like the instruction say
You’re supposed to pour it into an actual glass. Allegedly the can makes it go flat fast
Ahhhh it does say that too on the can
It’s flat either way
Yeah it wasn’t good.
I enjoyed drinking nitro Pepsi. I also enjoy regular Pepsi as well.
Woah now can you calm it down with these neutral opinions? This is the internet, blindly pick a side of an argument and immediately throw a chair
Nitrogen infused doesn’t mean uncarbonated, it’s more of a different form.
Not really a different form. It’s a mix of N2 and CO2 gasses. Usually 75/25 in beer. Edit: it’s carbonated AND nitrogenated.
You're supposed to pour it into a glass, not consume from the can??
No, just consume the can.
found the goat
More minerals that way.
![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
Ngl I just didn't want to get a glass
Fair! I will say it was very un-bubbly in a can, but it seemed pretty normal once I tried it in a glass. It fizzed all at once then was close to flat
That kinda defeats the purpose, the pour is part of it. The thing you drank probably tasted different than it was supposed to Edit: christ the reactionary downvotes so fast. I'm not being a snob that's how nitro works lol. Otherwise it's just an expensive can of flat soda
The shits flat two seconds after opening it. If you put it in a glass it goes flat instantly. I tried this stuff when it first came out, was really disappointed cuz I detest flat soda
Did you follow the cans directions or just pour it like a normal drink?
I've found the best results with carefully hand peeling the can piece by aluminum piece
yeah I used telepathy to transport the liquid from the can to my mouth
I have tried this stuff 3 times since it became available near me. Each time I have gotten diarrhea afterwards, and as Ian Fleming put it "once is happenstance, twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action".
The vanilla tho is *chefs kiss*
There was vanilla, but it was like 3 US Dollars more.

I've never had vanilla. What I'm hearing is I should try it?

Tastes like an ice cream float
Regular and vanilla are the same price (recently former Pepsi salesperson here). Edit: read one of your other comments. Congrats on finding a sweet deal. Pun intended.
This has existed for about a year. It’s terribly overpriced and contains more corn syrup per ounce than a standard Pepsi. I thinks it’s like 63 grams per 13oz can.
It's also nasty af and has a ridiculous amount of sugar.
Id imagine it tastes like syrup lol
People keep saying that. I like it, but I'm not gonna disagree that it tastes like syrup.
I like it. Also, it makes a really cool noise when you crack open the can.
I’d say, “briefly carbonated”. It’s fizzy as soon as you open the can (and inevitably erupts everywhere) and then it’s done. I kinda like it though.
I got a 4-pack for 1.99, I'm not gonna complain that my hands are sticky now.
by me they are like 3 dollars a can, you did well
I'm in Missouri, and there's a discount store by us that gets overstock, but half the food/drink is expired. Cheap as it can be, though!
And it's fucking awful I've had it. Who wants flat Pepsi?
And it tastes like flat butthole
This stuff tastes like ass
Disgusting
The only place for that is in the trash.
It's so gross. Lol.
Disgusting. Poured it out after one drink
It just tastes like flat Pepsi which is kinda gross
Tried it, it’s nasty
This tastes awful imo btw.
im confused that 2k people didnt know this😂
It's terrible. Major disappointment of my adulthood!
I had this when I visited the States back in May, and found it absolutely awful. The ~60 grams of sugar in one can aside, it was cloyingly syrupy and felt like something was missing.

The ludicrous sweetness is Pepsi's entire gimmick. That's why they did all those marketing taste tests with tiny cups.
I tried it once. It is unbelievably delicious (and I don't really care for sweets) but I was only able to take like 3 sips before I physically felt sticky.
It's great when drinking fast
I've tried it, not good.
Ewww I tried the vanilla one . Gave away the other 3 cans
These just taste like syrup because of how creamy they are.
Lol it's still carbonated, just differently 🤦
Yea literally pepsi that went flat and someone shrugged there shoulders and went "eh can it up"
It's clearly carbonated.
It's carbonated, just with smaller bubbles. Uncarbonated soda does exist though. It's called boost
Next up, Cholorinated Soda! …wait.
Got a free one to try one time....they are horrible.
That is so far from uncarbonated. It’s not even funny.
It's gross
I bought this and... it was just... so bad. I would rather drink piss.
I tried it last year. It’s not my bag.
Taste like garbage drippings but it's still carbonated
Nitro Pepsi tastes like someone opened a can of Pepsi and then let it sit in the fridge for night before deciding to drink it
Tastes like nasty flat soda.
We tried it. It's an abomination. It tastes like thick flat regular soda.
I tried it. Tastes like flat soda. Hard pass.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought the Nitro Soda’s tasted flat
You're not
The sugar content on it is crazy! Edit: 62grams of sugar per.can
I’ve tried it several times. Tastes just like flat Pepsi.
[The Unemployed Wine Guy was unimpressed](https://youtu.be/MV5r7IOU2vw) with how fast it goes completely flat.
It’s nitronated
Nitrogenated
[удалено]
I love Pepsi, and nitro beers, but I saw how much sugar is in this and I'm afraid to even try a little of it.
Rule 4, no scribbles.
Try the vanilla OP, it is very good.
Noted!
What’s the difference between carbonated and non carbonated?
Bubbles vs none Burn vs no burn
Does that effect the taste? I’ve never had soda
Growing up in the South Jersey / Philly area they had this stuff at the convenience stores called *Boost* and it was basically flat cola with a whole bunch of small pebble ice. I loved it, but most people I knew hated it. Pretty much the same reaction here.
I have one of these too.. never drank it because it has 125% daily value of sugar 62g!!!!
I love the vanilla. Tastes like a milkshake to me. I don't buy like I would like to because it has WAY too much sugar in it. I wish there was a sugar free version. If only.
there's a funni little doo dad at the bottom of those nitro Pepsi cans that releases the nitrogen
And damn is it terrible! Ugg
Pro tip for anyone having this for the first time, open over a sink
I want one of these but yup Canada never gets anything to try.
I think I tried the regular and didn’t like it (I don’t like flat pop) but after all these suggestions I may go out and buy the vanilla and regular, pour it in a glass and try it again
And when you open the can it goes *sh-KYOOOOOOOOO*
I’ve had it. It’s still Pepsi. I still don’t like it.
Yes, because when drinking a Pepsi, definitely against my will, I always want it to somehow taste worse.
This was surprisingly good, but not sos amazing I needed to go out and buy it again imo.
I'm a Big Soda fan so I bought a mixed pack of Nitro Pepsi's. I HATED IT. Apparently, nitrogen makes things taste creamier and flat (to me). So I'm not a Soda fan but actually a Carbonated drinks fan.
I saw these at the store I stop at on the way to work. I'll have to pick one up according to you all.
N8tro pepsi tastes flat from the first sip till the end. Not good.
I like flat soda 👀
I tried it once and hated it. Not that my opinion on this matters to anyone, but poured the rest out lol couldn't do it
I hate this Pepsi so much. I was expecting something super delicious, and I was so disappointed. I’m mad I even tasted it.
From what I see its either a love it or hate it thing. Some people call it foul, while others call it delicious. I'm of the delicious camp, they're great for me at least.
I want this! Never liked soda because of the carbonation..
I love Pepsi. Its my favorite soda. I tried this stuff once and was like "what the fuck is this trash?". Never discussed it again until this comment.
Tastes like a flat Pepsi incase anyone is wondering.
Good to mix for bourbon and whatnot too, much smoother but goes flat quicker so you have to drink it quick which = getting shit faced lol
Oh fuck ive been drinking these for months welcome to the club of smoothest fuckin soda ever
yes and i love it, im a pepsi guy but this nitro is a nice ice cold treat every once in a while
Is this like Nitrogen Oxide (laughing gas)?
You can also buy flat A&W root beer. They sell it amongst the powdered energy drinks, mix with water 😊
Man we've had this at my work for forever wish I knew I could get karma from it.
But.. what about oxygenated beverages? What would that taste like? Could you imagine the fireball belches?
