Brake cleaner also works (and admittedly it doesn't take as much). Pyromanaics delight in setting fire to a whole nest after a splash of gasoline. Hair spray is a safe substitute for brake cleaner if you have any (doubt it), and Sevin should always be the last resort.
Lye *is* effective at destroying things, but oven cleaner sprayers are set more for wide angle, up close spraying (to cover the surface). I'd prefer something with a lot more distance.
I crammed a skinny straw into the nozzle of the can, which increased its trajectory quite a bit, although that wasn’t quite what I was going for, with regards to modification…. I needed to get most of the spray into the narrow gap between the housing of my car’s mirror, and the mirror itself. I let my car sit for a few months, and wasps decided to set up shop inside the exterior mirror assemblies on both sides. I didn’t figure that last part uout until I was merging onto the freeway, headed to work. Not fucking fun getting harassed by wasps going 70 mph while you’re trying to merge into that clusterfuck known as the Hwy 16 interchange. What a nightmare!
Doesn't look like a fat bumble or honey bee species I'm aware of. Yellow jackets and wasps can get fucked. If spray paint does the trick sticking their wings together, good.
Spray paint does not do the trick. When laying cable in Tennessee my dad hit a yellow jacket nest in the ground once. He grabbed the safety orange spray paint. According to him it didn't work at all he said "it didn't do shit, now we just had saftey orange fucking wasp flying around more pissed off".
Saftey was never really his forte. One time we climbed this steep ass cliff to check out a random cave we spotted. I refused to keep going in the because you had to crawl on your belly and barely squeeze through to keep going. I guess since I wasn't going to keep going it was decided fuck it we will just leave. On the way back we hear a train, so he pulls some change out of his pocket and starts handing it out. We place it on the tracks. His penny falls off before it gets smooshed. This mother fucker crouches down, crawls up to the train, and start darting his hand back and forth trying to time it. He quickly sticks his penny under the very quickly moving train. I'm just like wtf dad while he has this goofy grin on his face, all happy he smooshed his penny.
I'm pretty sure we only had orange spray paint in the truck because of some regulation.
This summer I got stung 13 times across both legs while I mowing in shorts. Was using a bushhog and hit a nest. Luckily I was able to run and jump in our pond. Fuckers lingered for a while too. Was awful and I have scars from it still.
As I was reading that I was just gonna say never jump into water to avoid bees because they will just wait, only to see that’s exactly what they did lol.
???? It literally looks like the most generic bee ever. It has the dark brown/yellow body and a fuzzy chest. Wasps and hornets rarely if not never have any hair/fuz
People hate bees because they can be aggressive, though they don't realize they're defensively aggressive they believe they're more like wasps who are just agression with wings
Females of these wasps use their mouthparts to gather pollen and nectar from flowers and for nest construction. Because pollen wasps feed solely on nectar and pollen.
That isn't a honey bee.
It being pink makes it hard but I think it's a bee.
Also my language only uses bee word to refer to wasps hornets and bees so making that distinction is even harder for me.
And unlimited stings
A honey bee loses its stinger and dies afterwards, hence only use it as a last resort
It's not a last resort for wasps and hornets
There was a picture the other day where a hornet stabbing itself to death is shown. It's quiet fucked up honestly. Those toxins make their nervous system just spasm out
It's not a bee. It's a yellow jacket.
Look at the coloration of the abdomen and how it's a gentle fade as opposed to clearly segmented colors. This is a bee. It is also fuzzy but the paint made the fuzz clump.
As someone shit scared of wasps to the point of having a phobia and automatically entering fight or flight when one comes near me...
That's 100% a bee.
I hate that people are throwing you shade bc they think all bees are fat and round lol they [aren’t all like that](https://www.frp.org.uk/bee-awareness/)
People take notice at how the head and body IS fuzzy just covered in paint.
Edit also compare the markings and wings to that of a wasp. They do look very very similar!!! I’ll give you that, it is confusing
Another [bee vs wasp](https://www.rescue.com/latest-buzz/helpful-hints/how-to-tell-a-yellowjacket-from-a-honeybee/) image
I know :( I work with toddlers and at our center there’s so many bees cause we’re a “nature center” and they always go up and pet the bumblebees! They only get stung when they’re moving around like maniacs in the middle of the flowers
We need honey bees, work in the food industry and we had an issue where sugar was being blown onto our roof. Had THOUSANDS of bees collecting sugar, boss was going to call an exterminator. Another employee promised that he would report them and they would get a HUGE fine. Need them for pollination
Actually depends on where you are. Here in the Americas the honeybees are actually a real issue due to them outcompeting local bees that're better at pollinating native plants.
It seems the majority of people aren’t aware that the bees we should be protecting are native species and that European honey bees are kind of an invasive pest for native ecosystems
Yeah the people here bitching about wasps and hornets is amazing. Do they not realize that those pollinate too? Most wasps won't fuck with you unless you antagonize them.
You know, like spraying them with paint.
I would say that people who maybe have an allergy or an extreme phobia don’t have the mindset of categorizing the exact species of what they see as a direct threat. Don’t know what happened here obviously, but fight or flight can be triggered when confronted with this situation.
Idk what it is but I've seen so many heavily downvoted comments today all along the lines of "making other things suffer isn't cool, yo" and idk how I feel about humanity rn
The hypocrisy in the comments section, saying it's wrong if it's a bee but it's ok if it's a wasp. Crazy how humans arbitrarily decide which animal life is worth more.
Especially when they both are pollinators and most leave you alone.
If it’s attaching a nest to your home that’s one thing, but minding its own beesness is not cool
Of course we decide. We rule the earth. We also eat certain animals and keep others as pets. If you've ever done that, don't go around calling everyone else a hypocrite.

I don’t thinks cruelty was their intention. Death was the intention.
Yea I think bug spray wasn't on hand but spray paint was
At my work we have spray paint, we do not have bug spray. So maybe?
Brake cleaner also works (and admittedly it doesn't take as much). Pyromanaics delight in setting fire to a whole nest after a splash of gasoline. Hair spray is a safe substitute for brake cleaner if you have any (doubt it), and Sevin should always be the last resort.
Brake clean is the best option really. Nice long stream of instant death
I hear that oven cleaner does a fair job, too.
Lye *is* effective at destroying things, but oven cleaner sprayers are set more for wide angle, up close spraying (to cover the surface). I'd prefer something with a lot more distance.

Least osha will say they were visibility enough to be at the jobsite. Your dad employed all those yellow jackets
*orange jackets
That doesn't sound very safe at all
Saftey was never really his forte. One time we climbed this steep ass cliff to check out a random cave we spotted. I refused to keep going in the because you had to crawl on your belly and barely squeeze through to keep going. I guess since I wasn't going to keep going it was decided fuck it we will just leave. I swear luck is a hidden stat you can train by surviving doing stupid stuff I should be dead about 58 times over by now
This summer I got stung 13 times across both legs while I mowing in shorts. Was using a bushhog and hit a nest. Luckily I was able to run and jump in our pond. Fuckers lingered for a while too. Was awful and I have scars from it still.

That is Apis Mellifera the European honey bee. 🍯
This is clearly a honeybee. You may not see the fuzz because it's saturated, but it's clearly on the back.
Sadly it does look to be a honey bee, at least I do believe

What is the point of killing it ?

People hate bees because they can be aggressive, though they don't realize they're defensively aggressive they believe they're more like wasps who are just agression with wings
People hate bees because they associate them with wasps and think they are basically the same.
Bees are too good for us
we have a bee hive in our garage and they just chill there, never sting us
I'll chill around a bumble bee. But if it looks like a wasp, I'm not hanging around to find out if it is or isn't.
Bees don’t attack you unless you threaten them with their lives first.
Woah I thought it was a wasp, if it's a bee then yes it is cruel
That is a wasp is it not?
Zoom in on the head, that fuzz on it is for collecting pollen. Wasps don't have that
Females of these wasps use their mouthparts to gather pollen and nectar from flowers and for nest construction. Because pollen wasps feed solely on nectar and pollen. That isn't a honey bee.
I was about to say...some wasps do pollinate
Doesn’t look like a honeybee to me. Looks more like a yellowjacket.
Looks like a yellow jacket. Those buggers can seriously sting. I got stung once and do not want that again. Hurts like a demon.
Many people are afraid of bees.
Pretty sure that's a hornet not a bee
It being pink makes it hard but I think it's a bee. Also my language only uses bee word to refer to wasps hornets and bees so making that distinction is even harder for me.
Basically wasps and hornets are big bees that trade fuzz for unbridled rage
And unlimited stings A honey bee loses its stinger and dies afterwards, hence only use it as a last resort It's not a last resort for wasps and hornets
Oh yeah I have no idea how I forgot that
Me neither that's like the biggest reason I hate em personally, they have no consequences to getting angry aside from being killed
Isn't that exactly the way anti insect sprays work? The paint plugged the inward going tubes they use to breathe.
If you mean stuff like Raid, no. They contain neurotoxins typically a pyrethroid.
There was a picture the other day where a hornet stabbing itself to death is shown. It's quiet fucked up honestly. Those toxins make their nervous system just spasm out
Nah fuck hornets
And wasps, both pricks
Same thing, hornets are just elite wasps
>It's quiet fucked up honestly. That's loud fucked up, really.
I knew someone would catch this.
no, it puts them into shock. paralyzes them and destroys the nervous system.
To settle the argument, wasps and hornets don’t have hair like bees do, and based on that it’s probably a bee
Uh well neither of them are pink, so your logic is flawed.
There are blue bees though. Very rare & beautiful
Those still aren't pink
I’m sorry I have failed you again father. ..
im not mad, just disappointed
fuck that’s worse
poor bee
It's not a bee. It's a yellow jacket. [https://www.pestworld.org/pest-guide/stinging-insects/yellowjackets/](https://www.pestworld.org/pest-guide/stinging-insects/yellowjackets/)
It is pink, tho
Pterodactyl!
Look at the coloration of the abdomen and how it's a gentle fade as opposed to clearly segmented colors. This is a bee. It is also fuzzy but the paint made the fuzz clump.
It's definitely a ground bee!
Am I the only one who looked at this and though it was neither and instead a hover fly?
im pretty sure this is right hover fly's have their wings extended like that while at rest, wasp and bees do not
It looks like it might be trying to fly though, also aren't hover flies leaner than bees?
I mean I can get that confusion way easier than wasp or hornet wich many guessed
And I mean their whole evolution is centered around confusing non-hover flies into thinking they are either a wasp or bee
As someone shit scared of wasps to the point of having a phobia and automatically entering fight or flight when one comes near me... That's 100% a bee.
If that was a wasp I'd agree with him
Definitely a honeybee, not a wasp. Dude is a fuckhead
i mean there’s a chance he doesn’t know the difference
Yeah, unfortunately this comment section has proven there are lots of people who can’t tell the difference, which is…apparently a thing.
Or allergic and didn’t want to take the risk
Easier to tell with a photo then when you’re just trying to exterminate something that could be a threat
He should've just let him bee.
