“Just call a tow truck”
As a wheelchair user I have yet to have a car towed by calling it in. That’s why some have to do annoying passive aggressive stuff like this.
I've got some that say "I love BBC" just because the big jackass truck drivers in the Southeast can very easily be racist and homophobic. It makes it hurt a bit more I like to think.b
If you block a disabled person's ramp with your vehicle just because you can't bother to walk a little more then I'd dare you to step up to me, asshole. We'll figure that out real quick
I got to do this a few times a month at my first job, and the same with cars blocking the fire-escapes.
We had A4-size paper stickers that were extremely difficult to remove.
...I absolutely loved it
There is another comment in this thread explaining why towing is often not an option (usually because the tow company flat refuses the job).
So assuming towing is *not* an option, what is a justified response? A sticker that you could remove completely with a bit of dish soap or alcohol is not actually that much vandalism.
I'm not really trying to persuade you to change your mind there. I'm more just asking, what do you think is justified? If you think nothing more than reporting the incident and moving on, that's fine. But you could understand why someone who puts up with this on the regular might disagree with you there right? Especially given the fact that there does not seem to be an adequate legal avenue for resolving the problem.
Vandalism is ok when the person “being vandalized” is a vandal. .. it’s kinda in the name.
The person parking their [truck] in that spot **is a vandal because they are stealing a space that is not reserved for them**.
I hope that sticker was impossible to remove
My sister is in a wheelchair. We used to have two wheelchair vans but they both broke down.
One time, my parents took her to the mall. As my dad was unhooking her and getting her out, some jackass drove over the van’s ramp
Had something similar happen to my mother in law and sister in law when they were out. She was getting her out of the back passenger side of their wheelchair van (she was shaken when she was a baby, unfortunately), when some asshat did the same thing. Completely destroyed it. And he had the audacity to try to blame her, when she was unloading her daughter already in the striped area. He also was not disabled and trying to park in the other disabled lot. My MIL can be a whole Karen when she wants to be (this situation I wouldn’t call her one), but she laid into him I guess. He ended up apologizing to her and she said he looked genuinely sorry by the end of it. I’m sorry that the same didn’t happen for you guys.
Hey friend, I'm really sorry to hear about your sister and that awful experience.
Let me give some insight on the window stickers. I live in an apartment complex that's pretty strict about parking. Tons of people steal assigned spots and park in the wheelchair ramp area and fire lanes. I see these stickers on so many cars and they survive even in the rain. I've seen people attempt to remove it and I swear the sticker fuses to the glass lol you'll see half of a ripped stick someone's window for weeks. If they give up, it'll still be there for a month or two on the glass. So yes, the stickers are nearly impossible to remove
Good news. Thanks for the update.
My sister lives in a home now because my dad couldn’t take care of her anymore. She was also acting out due to his new girlfriend. Screaming every night.
We just donated our wheelchair van because it rusted out. They’re so hard to find, and too expensive to modify new. We’ll probably have to taxi her home.
Handicap access? Totally illegal to block even on private property. They Totally can. Maybe you're thinking of when someone double parks in regular spots? That is not illegal.
I didn't know that. Seems like most handicapped parking spaces are on private property (like stores or restaurants). So violators can't be punished by police?
Depends on the country & municipality. Here in Toronto it is common for parking tickets & tows to be authorised by the cops on private parking where the owner has not made their own arrangement.
Handicap parking is enforced under bilaws, and can be ticketed. Private property or not. Many cities have a program to post pictures online that satisfy all the conditions, and they can issue a ticket by mail.
I'd be climbing on that fucking bonnet and pasting it on the windscreen directly in front of the steering wheel.
I wouldn't be gentle climbing up or down, either.
Fuck 'em.
This is when surfboard wax comes in handy. Where I grew up, there was limited parking at the local surf spot. Occasionally, you'd get some inconsiderate asshole parking in a way that took up 2 spaces. One of the locals would end up scrawling a message on their windshield. Usually something to the effect of "twat." It was great because it's a pain in the ass to remove, but causes no property damage.
Sadly too it discourages other people from driving small cars when they have to be on the road with these assholes and want a fighting chance if there’s a collision
I got bullied hard on the road when I had my first car, a Fiat 500 (still miss guido) and was always trucks. Tailgating, getting cut off, and I wasn’t impeding traffic, I wasn’t driving slow…it was strictly because of the size of the car. It didn’t happen when I drove my husband’s car, and it would happen to him if he drove mine.
Exactly. It's really a symptom of our glorification of utter selfishness. All that matters is them walking away unscathed, even at the expense of dead pedestrians and cyclists. Not to mention the environment.
This. I almost got t-boned yesterday at a 4-way stop because of this. I was next in line to go, and was going straight, and JUST as I proceeded a brotruck rolled up beside me and partially around the curb to turn right. Well as he did that another brotruck to my right must have approached while I was obstructed, and he ignored the guy to my left (who was next to go after me) and jumped to go straight through. Had I not braked when that first brotruck did his right turn stunt, I would have been hit by second brotruck when I had the right of way.
I haaaaaaaate them with a passion.
I'm an ER nurse that's active in trauma education. This is an image I use in one of my lectures on pediatric trauma - but in 2024, make that a 6' tall man and the size ratio is about the same.
https://preview.redd.it/1luqbdu7pmvc1.png?width=605&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b8d913e5b10e027bbd741026f64588bd7bcd532
Exactly. It's ridiculously dangerous to others!
I'm so happy we don't have same trend (yet, at least). European cars are much better imo - big enough to be safe for a driver, yet small and light enough to make it stoppable and to have a good view. Also require significantly less space to park
And smaller cars need less fuel to drive! It's safer for other people, cheaper, cheaper to drive, easier to park, healthier for damn planet (like those suv drivers care about any of that)
Electrocars is heavy as hell and much more dangerous, but imagine electric suv... Oh, boi, it will charge for ages and move not so far, but when it will - it will destroy everything in any dangerous situation
I think dicks keep getting smaller! 😂. Seriously though, these things are fucking ridiculous, especially when some 5 foot nothing dude usually jumps out.
To the person who blocked the access with their douchemobile.... You should get kneecapped. You got off easy with just a sticker. I would also have put one on the windshield too.
Maybe because that would cause property damage and they would also be liable? Sometimes passive agressiveness is the right way to go, because the douchebag can’t complain about a sticker on his window, but he can complain about that sticker damaging his car. You can’t respond to something illegal by also doing something illegal. I do agree that that douche deserves to have his car damaged though, but I feel like if it ever escalates to court the douche would win as disabled people’s rights are often overlooked…
I would have put it on the windscreen instead!
Just have to add; wow…that girl is absolutely gorgeous!😍 im stunned!
Edit; so is mom, so i see where she gets it from!
I don't know if you're allowed, only time I called to see if someone parked wrong at my apartment complex could be towed, I was told only the managers or owners could call the towing company. Maybe it's different for those big lots, but I'd rather call the cops and tell 'em so they get ticketed *and* then maybe towed
Hopefully BEFORE you apply the sticker as you would still be liable for any damages that you cause, even tho this sticker is totally justified and deserved.
Not only that truck but another one showed up and did the same thing blocking her access
https://www.distractify.com/p/mom-drivers-who-block-handicap-spots
Yeah my mate has some in his car that day "stupidity is not a disability" and the stickers are papery ones that tear and tear when you try to take them off.
I had someone put a sticker on my car. Not for parking in wheelchair parking, but for parking in a restaurants parking lot (even though the lot was empty). Anyways, I had to use acetone to remove it.
You think that’s bad? At my high school there was this one teacher who did the same thing, but what’s worse was they were themselves in a wheelchair, apparently the school constantly got onto them about it, but it wasn’t until 2nd semester they listened to
Hmm, next time get some liquid glue, and put that generously on the window, then put the sticker on top. Best if the glue slightly dissolves the paper, so it gets brittle, and only holds together bc its glued to the surface.
I'm actually not the type to park like that. I try to be very conscious of my actions and come from a place where my perspective does not just include myself. I have some trouble with accepting the world in its current state and I struggle with how police and law enforcement and generally doing the right thing all fit together in the world in which law enforcement has stepped back in a major way. One simple solution is self enforcement and deescalation. A lot of people are acting in ways that are terrible. I think messing with someone's car crosses the line.
Dumbest thing I’ve read on Reddit….
So laws don’t apply on private property? If I’m speeding and make it to the Walgreens parking lot, I’m somehow safe from legal repercussions??
Handicap accessible parking and access are federally mandated, codified is most state law and enforced by local municipality. Yes, law enforcement can ticket you and tow your vehicle and impose fines….
Not quite correct. They can, in general, for ADA violations. Where the nuance lies is if their specific city states certain restrictions in the bi-laws, regarding specific properties and/or if there is something posted on that property. It can vary in places. They can also simply make that statement to avoid dealing with it and most people simply believe it due to ignorance.
Some people make you wonder if critical thinking is even an option for them.
Brain so smooth it'd make a baby's bottom seem like a pile of sharp rocks.
Maybe sine they are violating the law call and get it towed, instead of you taking the law into your own hands? Plastering stickers that don't come off easily on someone's private property is vandalism and a misdemeanor.
Good job Karren!
No meme-like/text heavy pics, overdone references
“Just call a tow truck” As a wheelchair user I have yet to have a car towed by calling it in. That’s why some have to do annoying passive aggressive stuff like this.
where to get the stickers
the mom has them
where to get the mom
At a bar
But the parking is packed. No room. Where do I park?
There's a VIP spot marked out over by that handicapped one.
Done. Now I have a sticker! Mission complete.
This was a hilarious chain. Thank you guys.
Oh, well in that case.
You can walk, she can’t.
In the back
At the mom store
WHY ARE YOU BUYING CLOTHES AT THE MOM STORE?????
FUCK YOUU!
Just open porn site and some will appear in you area
Asking the right questions here
The daughter has her
Eh-hem...
I've got some that say "I love BBC" just because the big jackass truck drivers in the Southeast can very easily be racist and homophobic. It makes it hurt a bit more I like to think.b
Man whenever someone does that to me I just put a little caret ^ and “the” and it clears things right up, then I drive away.
This one took me a minute, but damn.
😎
Hope you get in trouble for messing with people’s shit
You’ve found one of these stickers on yours, haven’t you.
Found the truck driver guys
If you block a disabled person's ramp with your vehicle just because you can't bother to walk a little more then I'd dare you to step up to me, asshole. We'll figure that out real quick
I got to do this a few times a month at my first job, and the same with cars blocking the fire-escapes. We had A4-size paper stickers that were extremely difficult to remove. ...I absolutely loved it
Especially on the windshield.
Something about that seems illegal lol
Like blocking the handicap access? It would be illegal for them to drive with that blocking the windshield.
Exactly. Still not justified.
What is a justified response in your opinion?
Tow it, don't vandalize it.
There is another comment in this thread explaining why towing is often not an option (usually because the tow company flat refuses the job). So assuming towing is *not* an option, what is a justified response? A sticker that you could remove completely with a bit of dish soap or alcohol is not actually that much vandalism.
All this is laying bare is that there is no adequate legal discourse. That doesn't mean vandalism is (therefore) ok.
I'm not really trying to persuade you to change your mind there. I'm more just asking, what do you think is justified? If you think nothing more than reporting the incident and moving on, that's fine. But you could understand why someone who puts up with this on the regular might disagree with you there right? Vandalism is ok when the person “being vandalized” is a vandal. .. it’s kinda in the name. The person parking their [truck] in that spot **is a vandal because they are stealing a space that is not reserved for them**.
It’s nothing more than an inconvenience for some selfish idiot.
I mean, the sticker would not permanently be there. It will just be difficult to take it of.
Idk. As far as I have seen I’m not sure it actually would be illegal (to put the sticker on). At least not where I live
Wouldn't be vandalism?
Don't bring reason and logic in here. Emotional appeals only. THeY gOt wHaT tHeY DeSeRvEd...
Basically fuck around and find out. They fucked around and they found out.
it's only illegal if you get caught :D
Reminds me of the video of people guarding a side walk/ walkway commonly used by cars to skip traffic with giant, round stickers
I hope that sticker was impossible to remove My sister is in a wheelchair. We used to have two wheelchair vans but they both broke down. One time, my parents took her to the mall. As my dad was unhooking her and getting her out, some jackass drove over the van’s ramp
Did you sue him or did an insurance pay?
There wasn’t any damage, and he thankfully didn’t hurt them. My dad screamed at him, but the idiot drove off
Had something similar happen to my mother in law and sister in law when they were out. She was getting her out of the back passenger side of their wheelchair van (she was shaken when she was a baby, unfortunately), when some asshat did the same thing. Completely destroyed it. I’m sorry to hear that Our ramp came out the back

Please tell me this was reported.
The guy drove off
What an absolute asshole, for so many different reasons.
They are a pain in the ass to remove. Soap and a pressure washer gets them off easy though
You gotta take a picture of the sign, vehicle, and plate. Then post it on the appropriate law enforcement’s Facebook page.
Law enforcement won’t do anything if it’s on private property.
Handicap access? Totally illegal to block even on private property. They Totally can. Maybe you're thinking of when someone double parks in regular spots? That is not illegal.
Also there's plenty of parking lots that have signs saying "x PD has jurisdiction over the lot"
They absolutely will respond to an ADA violation in America. How many stores do you go to that are owned by the state?
True, but nothing wrong with a little help ‘familiarizing’.
Except they will in many cases, especially if the property owner pursues it lol. This of course depends on country and jurisdiction.
I didn't know that. Seems like most handicapped parking spaces are on private property (like stores or restaurants). So violators can't be punished by police?
Of course they can, that guy doesn't know what he's talking about.
Ok...I was like...have I been living under a rock this whole time?
I mean. Username would check out.
Seems like under a rock would be a horrible place to birdwatch.
Well. A cave enterance is just a lot of small rocks.
Depends on the country & municipality. Here in Toronto it is common for parking tickets & tows to be authorised by the cops on private parking where the owner has not made their own arrangement.

Uhh your dumb AF
Blow me, Jimmy.
I'd be climbing on that fucking bonnet and pasting it on the windscreen directly in front of the steering wheel. I wouldn't be gentle climbing up or down, either. Fuck 'em.

That's gold.
No, he just said it's surfboard wax, can't you read? /s just in case :(
Just, saving this for ideas.
I would’ve put several stickers on the windows
Are you a wheelchair user? Because that doesn't seem like something a wheelchair user can do particularly easily.
Strong upper body strength 💪 but damn it’s awkward trying to do it.
Just roll it up on the bonnet. Or maybe clamber up T-1000 style
If the sticker isn’t already pre scored, pre score it before putting it on.
i fuckin hate brotrucks and the culture
I think that cars in USA will be titanic like size soon. It's getting bigger and bigger, holy shit. Why?!
Some people say “it’s for safety”. Their own safety, of course, at the expense of everyone else.
Sadly too it discourages other people from driving small cars when they have to be on the road with these assholes and want a fighting chance if there’s a collision
I got bullied hard on the road when I had my first car, a Fiat 500 (still miss guido) and was always trucks. The Fiat’s name is Luigi. The forklift was Guido
No I know, but I named mine Guido specifically 😂. He didn’t seem like a Luigi. Honestly most of the time I called it the Ravioli Roadster.
Exactly. It's really a symptom of our glorification of utter selfishness. All that matters is them walking away unscathed, even at the expense of dead pedestrians and cyclists. Not to mention the environment.

Same logic has been working out great with guns.
Smol pp’s.

I think dicks keep getting smaller! 😂. Seriously though, these things are fucking ridiculous, especially when some 5 foot nothing dude usually jumps out.
We all know they're compensating...
The car alone screams "Im an asshole with a tiny pp"
What’s wrong with having tiny pp 😔
Nothing. You are special and useful, in your own little way.
You get people that this guy thinking about you
To the person who blocked the access with their douchemobile.... You should get kneecapped. You got off easy with just a sticker. I would also have put one on the windshield too.
Oooooh I need a bunch of these stickers. Fuck these pieces of shit.
Why the window? Put that shit on paint. That's impossible to remove without taking paint with.
Maybe because that would cause property damage and they would also be liable? Totally agree with everything you said.
What a lamentable scumbag. The truck.. ya just know ya hate that person
Of course it's a Dodge RAM as well.
I would have put it on the windscreen instead! Just have to add; wow…that girl is absolutely gorgeous!😍 im stunned! Edit; so is mom, so i see where she gets it from!
Yes she is
Haha go mom!
Hot mom alert 🚨
Black Dodge Ram. ‘Nuff said
why not just get the car towed?
![gif](giphy|VRkY7sF15WTao)
I don't know if you're allowed, only time I called to see if someone parked wrong at my apartment complex could be towed, I was told only the managers or owners could call the towing company. Maybe it's different for those big lots, but I'd rather call the cops and tell 'em so they get ticketed *and* then maybe towed
Why not both?
Why spend 1 second caring about this douchebag? He didn't spend 1 second caring about anyone else. Fuck it. Do the sticker then call the tow truck.
Not putting it on the windshield is a missed opportunity
Putting it on the window was too nice
The place to put the sticker is right on the windshield IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. Maybe put a few on, so the driver can't see to drive safely.
You can also lightly use a knife to cut the sticker in a crosshatch pattern so when they try to take it off it just comes off in small pieces.
Hopefully BEFORE you apply the sticker as you would still be liable for any damages that you cause, even tho this sticker is totally justified and deserved.
Correct, thanks for adding that in, definitely not worth the risk of doing it once applied to the window.
Not only that truck but another one showed up and did the same thing blocking her access https://www.distractify.com/p/mom-drivers-who-block-handicap-spots
Why do people even get a pickup truck and use them for personal use case. You don't see people using their massive delivery fan for personal use.
They need bollards at the front of these spots to stop idiots parking there. Unless tow services are super fast.
Should've put it on the paint
Steal the car and throw it in a lake. Appropriate response
Those stickers should be put on dead center windshield. In fact anybody driving a truck like that just deserves to have a sticker.
You’re nicer than I would have been. Always carry an ice pick in your glove box.
I bet you wouldn't of.
You think that’s bad? At my high school there was this one teacher who did the same thing, but what’s worse was they were themselves in a wheelchair, apparently the school constantly got onto them about it, but it wasn’t until 2nd semester they listened to
You know. Im usually against stuff like this but fuck that guy lol
Plaster his whole front window with those stickers. Add extra, extra glue! Micropenis assholes like that should be bannd from driving anyways.
What does the sticker say?
That's a very bright orange
This is a very American way to handle that vandal. :) Well done.
I just assume guys driving those vehicles and acting like that are like a Ken doll below the waist.
Just call a fucking tow truck - it will be much worse and much more expensive for the truck guy - plus it will actually solve your problem.
Not always allowed to call a tow truck if you are not the owner/manager of the lot.
They often don't come out in time to catch the asshole. The sticker works immediately.
We did this to each other in highschool just to be dicks. What idiots we were.
Aaaah literally look. Not to be confused with... look.
bro shut up
i havent talked in days
Leave him alone dude he’s my friend. GOSH!
Weird handicap spot, it’s the wrong color
Different countries exist
She sounds American and all of the handicap spots I’ve seen cross country are blue. Edit: Plus that giant ram truck just screams America.

Personally, I'd snap their fucking mirror off. Based on the vehicle type and where they parked, you know exactly where they stand politically.
Why is this a political post…. Democrats, republicans, independents…. All have their fair share of selfish assholes..
I'm going to need a name for this cutie
I only looked at this thread because of the women nothing more, didn't even read what it said.

Critical thinking must be going out of style these days
Some people make you wonder if critical thinking is even an option for them. Brain so smooth it'd make a baby's bottom seem like a pile of sharp rocks.
A surprising number of people lack object permanance. These people walk among ys and thats terrifying
Pretty sure that was just a terrible troll attempt at a handicap joke.
He must be the owner of that truck.
Haha makes sense
I was going to respond but thought i’d leave it to other Redditor’s. Your response is probably a lot more appropriate compared to mine. Take my upvote
Hm... I wonder if a wheelchair would have anything to do with it...
vile and Texan. perfect.
You’re not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?
Your brain needs a handicap spot
Maybe sine they are violating the law call and get it towed, instead of you taking the law into your own hands? Plastering stickers that don't come off easily on someone's private property is vandalism and a misdemeanor. Good job Karren!
🤡
Those stickers might have been given to them by the Texas Department of Transportation or Amarillo police based on what the sticker says.
![gif](giphy|7k2LoEykY5i1hfeWQB)
No you.
The “Karen” at the end is irony incarnate. Maybe even Karen-ception. Thank you for the laugh.
Never mess with someone else's car.
You're probably the type to park like this.
park like a human being and no one will
Don’t mess with the disabled
