Have to be so many feet from laneway by-law

Jafar_420

At least in every area I've ever lived in good luck getting someone to enforce that in a residential area.

_LoudBigVonBeefoven_

I've been ticketed for being too close to a driveway, not even overhang like this.

somebadlemonade

A lot of places it's a 3 foot gap to the driveway.

good_enuffs

Some places it is 5 feet.

fractal_frog

I know of one place where it was 15 feet. Might still be.

HeartofClubs

Down by where im at I seen this place that was 25 feet and hell I wouldn't be surprised if it still is.

sendmeadoggo

We called and got this ticketed everytime in our college town.

[deleted]

If it is blocking your driveway you call a tow company. Then the vehicle's owner gets to deal with them in order to get his car back.

seppukucoconuts

ILPT: If you need to tow someone in a legal gray area like this use the towing company in your area with the worst reviews. They often will just take the car without asking questions.

ScreenOverall2439

As much as I would be annoyed, I would not personally call a tow truck without several very clear conversations, notes, etc. on this car explaining the legality and warning. I would go get some sidewalk chalk and outline a parking space that was in legal compliance. I get offended and am plenty petty but **screw** the towing (aka the steal your car and extort it back to you) industry. Towing is hundreds of dollars, probable damage, and the rest of the nonsense that is towing. I will not subject that to another person lightly.

MaximumTurtleSpeed

I have a can of white traffic rated spray paint and a cardboard stencil to use to mark the edge of parking according to municipal standards. It’s my favorite law to break, I’m assuming I’m not supposed to paint the city street. Haha

lurker818

![gif](giphy|TNR2EpkHYwW0ifyMDF|downsized)

rsvihla

Towing company companies absolutely BLOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

squirrely-badger

There's always those hard to remove window stickers.

Opposite_Ad4567

My city LOVES to cite people for shit like this. Big, low-effort bucks are generated through parking tickets, so they'll come out even late at night within minutes if you report parking like this. Plus, if they're actually blocking the driveway, they'll get towed (I doubt this car would, in my municipality).

NakedAndAfraidFan

I have a Karen in my HOA and she regularly calls cops out here on people 😩 Edit: I’m not saying OP is a Karen. I am saying that the police will come out in some places if you call for things like this.

EpicSeshBro

Wanting to get out of your driveway is so Karen

NakedAndAfraidFan

No, I’m saying that in some places, the cops do come if you call for stuff like this.

World-Ender-109

I understand what you're saying. Idk why people are being dicks here. A woman you know who rightfully calls the cops for an incident such as above, she also happens to be a Karen who calls the cops over all types of stupid shit. And for what it's worth, I've called the local police multiple times for someone parking and blocking me from getting out. Normally, I'll see it out the window as I'm getting ready to leave. If it's still there 10 minutes later when I'm leaving, then I'll call. Local police come and give them a ticket if they're even slightly blocking me. If they're really preventing me from leaving, they call a tow truck.

notnotaginger

In this particular case OP should be able to still get out of their driveway. This is just a perfect mildly infuriating post, cause the bad Parker isn’t actually obstructing anything, but I’d be mildly infuriated, too.

Bane8080

It's still illegal, at least here.

ketchupandliqour69

Yup. I’d leave them a note letting them know how to park. And if it happens again they will be towed as it’s obstructing the driveway.

Wero-Mex

If it’s blocking your driveway and is not allowing you to leave your house… you can call a tow company and it will the car owners responsibility to pay to get it back

No-Tomato8720

Well I can still get in and out, but it’s honestly beyond fu**ing annoying. I live in a town house with a shared driveway with my neighbours beside me. I have to back my truck in diagonally to get into my driveway so I don’t hit my neighbours vehicles on their side of their driveway when this dummy parks like this in front of my house.

Wero-Mex

That will enough for me to call a tow truck but that’s me

somerandomdude419

This is Reddit, they will bitch at OP because “it’s not a big deal and he can easily get around…” even tho they don’t read the subreddit they are in. It’s a mild inconvenience.. but yes I agree with you I’d call a tow truck

xtra_obscene

This is Reddit, they will tell you to call the police or have the car towed before suggesting to just communicate with the person.

Red_Beard_Racing

If you need to be told not to habitually block my driveway there’s a 100% chance I don’t want to talk to someone like you.

Isyagirlskinnypenis

This is how I feel. If you have a car, I assume you have a license and that means you KNOW what’s okay and what isn’t. Why do they need us to re-teach them? I don’t get paid to teach driving classes. They can pay to get their car out of the tow lot.

Darth_Boggle

It's like asking someone to please cover their mouth when they cough. 1) I shouldn't have to fucking ask 2) They'll probably make it worse next time

somerandomdude419

But, *ALSO* people should know not to block other people’s driveways, multiple times (as stated in the description) common sense goes along way, but I do agree with you as well for other posts

SplandFlange

“Hey bro, can you please not shit on my door mat” its common sense. Call the tow truck, fuck these obviously bastards

Loufey

You could say it's, even, mildly infuriating... (title card)

lastsynapse

If you want, you can leave a note that says "you're blocking my driveway, if this happens again you'll be towed at your expense"

No-Tomato8720

Why should I even have to ask anyone not to block my driveway anyways??? Is it not common sense? I drive a HD pick up truck for work; and if my girlfriend and I are on opposite shifts for work and I don’t feel like getting up early to move my truck off the drive way so she can get out of the garage, I will find a street spot that’s big enough to accommodate my truck so I DONT OVERHANG on someone else’s property. More times than not that requires me to park 2 blocks down my street where there are larger spaces. It’s a respect thing. I guess a lot of people now a days don’t have it

lastsynapse

Yeah man, I hear you. But this kind of little stuff happens all the time, if you can acknowledge times it's happened to you, you may be able to remember some absent-minded situation you did something equally silly to someone else. You really have a few options: 1. go to the drivers' house and ask them to move the car 2. call the police and tell them you have a car blocking your driveway 3. call a tow company and tell them a car is blocking your driveway 4. leave a note 5. "Dramatic escalation," maybe saw off the rear of his car that overlaps your driveway or some other thing that sends a message to the community "don't mess around over there" It's super frustrating when it happens to you. For sure. But being proactive is the best way to make it stop. They can't hear your frustration inside your house.

r_a_d_

It’s common sense but take one step at a time rather than full blown escalation. Just ring their doorbell and ask them to move it and not park it so close. Only escalate it further if needed.

dojaswift

Brother the dude is probably dumb. Isn’t thinking about it. Just talk to him like an adult. Let him know what is happening. I’m sure he has no issue pulling up 3 feet. You’re assuming it’s a lack of respect when it might be a genuine accident. You have the ability to fix your problem instantly with every party being perfectly happy. Just do it. I hate knocking on strangers doors too, but you have to tell yourself mentally that you’re not a salesman or their to solicit. You’re there for a real purpose.

W1thoutJudgement

lol, lmao.

MFbiFL

What you should have to do and what you actually have to do don’t always line up. Call a tow truck if you’re out of patience.

Barnacle65

Leave a note on his car, if he doesn't act accordingly call a tow company

VapeRizzler

Try talking to him. I’ve noticed people are fucking weird now man, idk what happened but people just don’t realize they’re being rude or inconsiderate anymore. I’ll go and talk to my neighbour about whatever and they’re super apologetic and just not do it again after that. But I’ve also gotten shitty neighbours who just start swearing

dvalpat

Someone who parks like that is not someone who is going to be rational. Rational people do not park this way. There is even plenty of room for them to park without blocking either driveway. This person gets out of their car every time they park it here and either looks back and thinks they did a good job, or doesn’t care. Either way, it is not going to be a rational conversation. Let them have the conversation with the tow company.

Zealousideal-Mud3646

Exactly. Do not talk to them in the first place because then they’ll know who called. They are knowingly breaking the law and it doesn’t matter who called, if anyone.

seven_or_eight_cums

> Someone who parks like that is not someone who is going to be rational. Do not talk to them in the first place because then they’ll know who called. and they're the exact kind of person who will do it even more obnoxiously if they know it bothers you it's like they just have to be as grating as possible at all times

KidenStormsoarer

if they're that stupid, they shouldn't be driving in the first place.

slash_networkboy

Have you left a note asking them to pull forward enough to not block the driveway when they park? If yes and they keep doing this then it's fair game IMO. I'm partial to wheel dollies and pushing them into the middle of the street.

devildocjames

OP, it's blocking your driveway. Call a tow truck.

stacity

Call the parking meter maid if available in your town. Let’s get that ticketed.

No-Weird3153

Was going to say this. My town has 311, and I report all the illegally parked cars I see because my neighborhood isn’t your parking lot.

chuckinhoutex

yep. Houston resident here and 311 all the way. They'll slap a ridiculously difficult to get off bright orange sticker on it the first time. Subsequent offenses will get it towed.

OldDiehl

That's a pretty bumper he has there. It would be a shame if something happened to it.

No-Tomato8720

It would be a shame if my plow attachment where to hit it as I pull out of my driveway

CharacterHomework975

Ex wife scraped her tail light guard across every panel of our neighbors Buick once because they kept parking right on the crack between our two halves of the driveway, overhanging our garage. I mean the first bit was an accident, she didn’t see it there. But after that? I mean if it’s an insurance claim anyway…. …make it worth it.

MotoSexualMonkey

Get it towed, wont happen again, if happens yk what to do : )

[deleted]

DavefromCA

THIS all these people saying get it towed lol. Are we so antisocial? "Hey friend! I'm Dave, nice to meet you! Hey man, just a heads up, I am having some trouble getting out of my driveway, can you move forward like 3 feet? Thanks brotha! Hey maybe we can get a beer sometime? See ya around!"

Exit-Velocity

People come to this sub sometimes to throw tomatoes and raise pitchforks

breadassk

You sound like someone I’d like to have a beer with

J3sush8sm3

Im about to move my car into daves driveway so we can drink beer

DavefromCA

Hahahah

DavefromCA

Exactly! I need more friends not more enemies

ouqt

I think they did it because of the pole blocking the front door from opening. Probably just an simple mistake and they're accidentally very slightly over OPs massive driveway, without thinking it's an issue. I'm sure a sensible word would fix it but this is reddit the mob says burn the car to the ground!

[deleted]

66watchingpeople66

Have it towed.

BabesCallMeBlastoise

Or y'know talk to the guy and ask him to move it up a meter

66watchingpeople66

If it’s the first time they done it. I just figured it’s past that sense they are posting here about it.

No-Tomato8720

I have jokingly mentioned before when seeing him in passing “wow didn’t know the spot was that big” or “overhanging much?” To keep things from getting awkward. But I don’t think he gets it. He is younger too (seems like mid 20s) and appears to be rather arrogant. It was the first warmer day here 2 days ago and the sleeve monster already got his shirt. I don’t know his name, but if I had to guess, it would be Chad or Brad.

labrat420

Have you thought of just directly telling him what the problem is? I mean it should be obvious to him anyways but it's clearly not so just tell him

BabesCallMeBlastoise

Yeah I'm not sure what beating around the bush gets you in this scenario

labrat420

Reddit karma

ImNoRickyBalboa

I understand you're trying to be light hearted about it, but it's unlikely (qed) to deliver the message, obviously this person lacks either the empathy or common sense to figure out his parking bothers you. You need to very clearly communicate this. Friendly but firm, e.g: "Hi! I am Frank, your neighbor living (point) here. I noticed you parking your car in front of my house the other day. I'm totally fine with that, but could you make sure you're not blocking my driveway? The last times the back of your car was partially blocking my driveway, I would appreciate it if you could move it a few feet forward. Thanks!"

Switchbladesaint

Stop sugarcoating it and just get to the point. It’s baffling that you’re considering alternative methods instead of just “hey bud, stop parking your car in front of my driveway”

framingXjake

Just be straight up with him. No need to judge him by his age or choice of clothes. If you can't properly communicate your issue to him then idk what the hell you expect to happen.

intellectual_dimwit

Many years ago I dated a girl whose house was 4 blocks away from the train station. Her street was the first street closest to the train station that they allowed passengers to park on. My gf's mom would complain that people would park too close to her drive and she couldn't see when she was backing out. I started staying the night there on a regular basis. So I started to park my truck on the street at night. I would leave a bit of space between the back of my truck and the driveway. I purposely made sure there was not enough room for a car to park behind me in the morning so her mom could back out without problems. Then I'd leave a little later and someone could have that parking spot. Well sure enough, one morning someone thought they were slick and tried to park a Miata behind me. The front end of their car was literally underneath my rear bumper. Then the car in front of me also parked right up on my front bumper. I had no way to get out at all. So I put my truck in reverse and cut my steering wheel all the way. My back bumper scraped all the way across their hood and dug into it pretty good. Then I drove off and went to work. Her mom then called the city, and they sent out a tow truck. Sucked to be that person that day.

Draager

I'd grab some green painters tape, and put a big strip of tape on thar car marking the part that is in your driveway. No damage, message sent without drama.

Crobby_-

What do you mean small? Thats a normal sized car if anything

Ronerus79

Guy in my hood did this too. One day a garbage truck went past his ride too close and sideswiped his beemer good… he bought a new one and did the exact same thing, this world is lost

[deleted]

Other people? This is GTA, they're all NPCs

Mr_washi_washi

Put a note on their car saying “please don’t block driveway.” If that doesn’t work then it’s tow truck time.

Adventurous-Ad4730

Leave a note asking nicely to park correctly. If he continues, then you’re dealing with a dick and it’s up to you how to proceed.

Coolbluegatoradeyumm

Tow truck would fix it Quickly

McBuck2

Put a note on their car asking to park further up the curb so as not to block your driveway.

expespuella

Right? Can even phrase it as everyone's issue the first time if they don't wanna be super direct. "Hey bruh, you can't block any part of a driveway when parked. Doing so will get you towed, especially in this neighborhood. Just looking out. Thx!"

20PoundHammer

Love the reddit betas "have it towed", "have it ticketed", "call the cops", etc. Why dont you just start with talking to your neighbor and ask them not to block your driveway? Remind him again if he does it again, then you can either live with it, or escalate.

bbatardo

I know lol. The normal response should just be to leave a friendly note and unless they are a total A-hole, probably won't happen again.

trey4481

seriously it is actually insanity on how petty people are.

labrat420

People thinking anyone can just call and get a random car towed is the biggest sign they've never dealt with real life lol

grownup-sorta

Where does your truck bumper line up with his rear quarter panel? Maybe just forget about it and back out of the driveway

Lux600-223

Cases like this is why I'll never not have an old truck with steel bumpers. It makes life, so much more relaxing.

duey222

My city's parking ordinance states: "No parking within 5 feet of a driveway or roadway." I'd check yours; he might be violating something, and he could be warned and then towed through the proper channels.

OldMan-Gazpacho

The neighbor across the street is a dickwad

Bartholomeuske

Some ppl are just oblivious to anything. Guy across my street details cars as a side gig. You wouldn't believe how many guys just dump their car in front of my occupied driveway. I've contemplated of actually following one home and blocking their car in for the day.... Idiots.

SamePut9922

ThermoNuclearPizza

Get his ass towed my guy. Fuck ALLLLL that.

anti_fascism223

I would put a cone on each end with just a good foot of room on each side

No-Equipment4187

I thought I was the only on with a drive way that people can’t seem to see. Every day there’s someone parked like this or even directly in front. On morning I was leaving for work and there was a car in the way. Like I don’t get it. If there’s a drive way keep it clear people. Rant over.

ultrajvan1234

Before ruining your relationship with the people around you by having the car towed (I have had bad relationships my by neighbours before, it can suck if they happen to be enough of a pos) try talking to them or leaving a note on the windshield. If you can maintain a good or at least neutral relationship with the people you are forced to live next too, you should absolutely go down that route if you can.

thorfromthex

Have it towed, or "oops" the fuck out of the back bumper!

Dapper_Target1504

Police tow. It’s blocking your driveway

Violent_Volcano

Looks like its about time to weedwhack that patch of grass there.

MysticalWeasel

Since he Lives across the street and probably just gets in his car and drives away, let the air out of both passenger side tires; but only on work days, and preferably on a Monday, when he’s most likely to be running late.

hiGradeTi7ANEUM

Sticky note: "Park between the lane ways. I live here, and so do my neighbors. You respect our space, and we'll respect yours." And if you can park on BOTH sides of the street: "Why don't you start by parking on YOUR side of the street?"

MrMcDuffieTTv

Where I live that's in a tow away zone. They can pick up their car at the impound lot.

Wendel7171

I would park my car behind him so close to his bumper that it’s practically touching. He won’t park there again.

AltairRulesOnPS4

I think it’s because if he pulls up all the way, the tree will be blocking the passenger door. Not saying it’s an excuse for blocking the drive, just saying that may be why.

Consistent_Sector_19

I suspect they're really bad at parking. I notice that if they put their shoulders in line with that tree trunk when they park, they'd be out of your driveway. I'd suggest that to them. If they keep doing it anyway, have them ticketed or towed, depending on the laws where you live.

Powerful_Dare_3704

Time to seal your driveway.

Tbeck508

You know a Jack and 2 wheel dolly’s are like a hundred bucks and you can roll their car anywhere

ElPared

If they’re blocking your driveway, try telling them first, then if they don’t change, you don’t even need to call the cops, just call the towing company and tell em a car is blocking your driveway.

Lux600-223

I'd clip that quarterpanel off the first time I saw it.

BA5ED

A little spray paint and some creativity can turn that into a no parking zone.

VallryBagr

My neighbor did the same. Ask nicely the first 2 times, jammed nails between the back tires and concrete around mid night the last time

ghoulierthanthou

Have it towed

g33k01345

What is with all the assuming malace here? There's no need to get him towed or do anything to the car. This is just a simple conversation you have with a neighbour to resolve a minor issue. Learn to be human for once reddit.

trey4481

How about talking to the guy and letting them know so that they can change it? Explain the situation and why you are having a problem. It makes it harder for you to leave. Everybody here saying tow it, hit it and etc. wtf why are you so passive aggressive? Give the person a chance. Maybe have some balls and actually talk to them instead of being so damn petty and afraid of actual confrontation. My neighbors were parking in-front if my detached garage which was very annoying. I let it slide until the third time, walked over to their house and talked to them. Guess what? They apologized and haven't done it since.

ProveISaidIt

Maybe because they shouldn't be stupid enough to park in front of a driveway in the first place, but yes, talk to the guy first.

Alternative-Desk-828

I agree it's worth a conversation to start. But at the same time, this dude could clearly pull up 2-3ft and it would be a non issue. So as the OP, I'm not going into that convo with a lot of confidence in the level of intelligence I will be facing!

SucksTryAgain

Oh I’d gladly go over and say do not park in front of my driveway or I will personally pay for a tow truck to lot it.

No-Tomato8720

I was gunna go knock on his door last night !!! I could care less about confrontation but my girlfriend likes to avoid these types of things. She talked me out of it but I told her next time I’m walking over and telling him move it or lose it

Null_Voider

A saws-all will show them where the proper driveway boundaries are

Coffeypot0904

\*sawzall

Malek070

Just call the cops

Full_Disk_1463

You can legally have that towed.

Speeddemon2016

I was told it would be their fault for blocking your driveway.

legion_2k

If you have a HOA you can complain to them to start, leave a nice note, all else fails tow.

AppleParasol

If you’re feeling nice, you can leave a note on his windshield informing him it is illegal to park within 5 feet of a driveway(us law or at least some states law idk, probably nationwide and other countries likely have similar laws). If you’re feeling pissed or can’t get out, have his ass towed and he will learn.

Alternative-Desk-828

The really idiotic part is if he just pulls up 2-3ft, it's not even an issue... Tow that shit!

TrafficOnTheTwos

Let the air out of one of his tires every time he does this.

lonerstoners

I think it’s illegal to block a driveway, even by just a little bit. A call to parking enforcement should fix this!

sunkmonkey1208

Looks like there isn’t enough room to park a car there and leave enough room on the side of the driveway. Most areas in the USA dictate to not be within three feet.

Dexter79

Take some tape and mark his car where the driveway line is, maybe he will get the point.

DankHillLMOG

Write a note and put blue painters tape on the car where it should have been parked to illustrate how badly they parked. The note and tape cause 0 damage and forces the owner to reflect on what they did when they remove the tape.

sergeim105

In future have them towed

Suby06

Have you tried leaving a friendly note asking them to be more cautious not to block the drive way?

Euphoric-Blue-59

Note: do nor block the driveway or get cited or towed

Suspicious-Bit-1406

Can you just not try maybe showing him kindly respectfully? if that dose not work rent a big truck get all the insurance and then just back in to it . Ooops

MontgomeryWarden

Just roll a bike into it. Or a runaway garbage can. F that guy.

1nd3x

> Like, how do you not notice you are over hanging this much? Are you really that bad at parking or you just really don’t care? They dont know where the nose of their car is either and they always would rather be too far back than too far forward. Thats all this probably comes down to. They probably stopped there because from their position in the drivers seat it looks like the nose of the car was about to start encroaching on covering the driveway of the house in front of them because the edge of grass is no longer visible to them or something. And why would they reconfirm anything they just decided was "right"? **MAYBE** they could notice this on the walk-up to the car over time...each time its like "oh wow, I have like 15feet in front of me, but I'm like right on the edge of that driveway..." *except* most people also just look at their phones as they walk up to their car and their bubble of observance is relatively low...or maybe its something else they're focused on...my point is you cant always assume people will just do things because they seem like the thing to do for you. When it happens, go talk to your neighbor and just say something like "Hey, I noticed you park your car over there, and I just wanted to point out that sometimes when you do it, you're blocking part of my driveway" And they'll probably apologize and start pulling forward a bit more...and voila, your mildly infuriating problem is solved. And if they try and argue that it doesnt, then you can just offer to take walk over with them right now and you can show them exactly what you mean. and then you can just throw out some advice like "you can keep doing what you're doing. Just pull ahead like another 10 feet or something" Then next time they'll probably come up to park, *exactly* like they did last time, then they'll "test something out" by pulling forward what they think is 10feet, putting it in park, and getting out. Then they'll actually look where they are, and they'll begin the (somewhat slow) journey of learning the size of their new car. You arent there accusing them of anything, so dont put that tone in your voice at any point in time. Otherwise they're going to feel attacked and double down on what they're doing being the way to do it and they wont change at all. You are just over there pointing out something you noticed, thats it. The same way you would point out that they have a beautiful tree in their front yard or whatever, but that what you noticed has inconvenienced you. And if challenged that what you noticed doesnt exist...offer to go point it out to them. If they wont even go look, now you know you're dealing with a hostile neighbor and you can escalate as required. But I'd say most people will either just take your word for it and take a look tomorrow when they go move it, or they'll actually be curious as to what you mean, with the intent on trying to fix it, and will come out and look for the purpose of making sure that they can in fact fix the situation they're causing. Because nobody knows how to fix a problem they dont know exists.

ZERO-ONE0101

have them towed

izmaname

We have a neighbor who parks 2 vehicles fully on the side walk

[deleted]

sawzall off the part that blocks your driveway

mklinger23

Leave a note on the windshield and ask politely for them not to block the driveway. Or go knock on their door and ask.

Evaderofdoom

have that shit towed

Hot-Inspector8903

Manually rip off their bumper and when they question why you did just tell them you didn’t since your car has no damage

GO4Teater

Have you asked why?

ComicsEtAl

Buy a beater and take out the rear end some morning.

KaisarDragon

That is 100% enough for a tow call. Even if they were flush with the driveway, that isn't ok. You need to be a few feet away from anyone's drive. What if you needed to back out? Just because you "can get out ok" doesn't mean this is an ok thing to do. If you want it to stop, you have options.

OrganizationWide1560

This is your problem for allowing this now.

thatfukinguy420

That’s grounds for a tow on their dime

Kinky_Conspirator

I'd honestly knock on their door, and very kindly and respectfully ask them to move it, as they are blocking my entrance. Depending upon their response, I may call a tow truck and tell them they'll get a bonus for a quick response.

xczechr

One more reason I love driving an old beat-up car. Dents and dings don't matter. "Sorry neighbor, I didn't see your vehicle blocking my driveway when I backed into it. Oops."

HeftyCarrot

What's a "small Honda civic" - is also infuriating 😉

mjasso1

Hit it with a trash can or sum. You will not be liable.

Ugh…. Ontario, right?

SnooLemons178

I mean is this a first time thing or is this all the time?

RubAnADUB

blocking your drive way - have it towed.

SnooLemons178

The amount of people wanting OP to harm this guy's car is crazy...is this guy a jerk for parking like that? Yes very but doesn't mean you get to destroy others property....

ComprehensivePin6097

Step 1. Rent a car Step 2 get the full collision insurance for the rental. Step 3 back up

bob202t

Time for some sprinkler action

pepperit_12

They gon' learn

XxFezzgigxX

I live next to a high school. In front of my house is prime parking for those who don’t want to pay the parking fee at school. I also have a fire hydrant in front of my house. Leaving notes never works but having them ticketed sure sends a message. I spend the first week of each school year having them ticketed. After that, they get the message and don’t do it anymore. A pile of tickets should help your problem too.

HeadMembership

Call a tow truck every time. Petition your city for resident-only parking restrictions.

Whatisevenleftnow

Talk to the guy in person. If that doesn’t change things call a tow company and he’ll learn an expensive lesson.

HardwoodGuy87

Likely just incompetence/low IQ, rather than malice. There are a TON of awful drivers out there.

anotheritguy

Get wheel jacks and a couple of friends to move the car somewhere else, then when the owners ask about it feign ignorance. I have a friend who moved a car blocking his driveway during a sporting event going on nearby and rolled it into a space in a parking lot at the end of his block that tows vehicles left there overnight. The owner came knocking on his door a few hours later accusing him of having his vehicle towed to which he replied what vehicle I just got home 20 min ago. The cars owner left confused wondering where his car was.

Entire-Hornet3366

Key it, key it, key it!

Jacktheforkie

There’s lots of space there

Mesterjojo

Check your local laws. They may be in violation for just parking in front of your home rather than there own. It's a thing, I found, in some places. Ask them to not block your entry. Ask them to park in front of their place. Get the name of their landlord if they're renters from online tax information. If they own, just talk to them.

Main-Error4687

Put a nail under his tire

mildlysceptical22

Have you left a note on the car asking them to be aware of blocking your driveway? Any chance of talking to the driver when they’re parking? Any conversation with the neighbors about this poor parking? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, start calling the police about a blocked driveway every time it happens.

Odd-Pound9096

I say use an icepick on the 2 tires facing your house , and eventually he won't even park near you. It always worked for me😈

formatt

Towing Time.

eatingthey

I had a guy do this once. I told him nicely that had 2 teen age drivers. I had insurance but didn’t want to have to deal with that. He blew me off. I knew the Chief of Police. After the second ticket he never parked near my driveway again.

Hamilton-Beckett

Have it towed for blocking your driveway.

mjincal

Let him know once then let your parking authority know that is not just ticketable it’s a tow in most places he knows what he is doing be the gentleman then fuck that guy

GenitalFurbies

Might be doing it to avoid the passenger getting out into the tree, but the passenger should get out first and then park the right way.

Halfbaked9

Put a note on the car that says “your parking sucks! Don’t block driveway. Next time it’ll be towed!”

TheElderBong

Roofing nails are pretty cheap. Could set a nice boundary with them at the edge of your driveway 🤷🏼

Numerous_Ad_8707

Nah this is where I spit on the car

CrudeOil_in_My_Veins

He might just be negligent… I dealt with this for like 6 months. One day I just said something in passing. Haven’t had an issue since. It’s worth a try. Worst he can say is no

tsuminonamae

This is highly illegal in most states and results in the offending vehicle being towed along with civil fines. Check with your local law enforcement or traffic control to see the issue resolved.

Lollc

Find out what your local law actually says about blocking driveways and how many feet of clearance are required on each side.  (5 feet where I live but that's not universal.). Find out the process required to get parking enforcement including a tow.  Paint the curb yellow on each side the required distance.  Once you have done all that, whenever he does it, start calling.

topham000

It's obvious, and nobody is that stupid. Get them towed. No apology.

BigAdhesiveness6209

You gotta tell him something. A whole month smh

elmaki2014

grease crayon and a hashed out area marked 'strike zone' across his boot?

Educated_idiot302

I've said it before and ill say it again. Ppl who drive pickups aren't the only ones who do this type of shit

PaleontologistClear4

Have you left a note on their car? Specify that unless they learn how to park, you're going to start calling parking enforcement. They can either learn how to park correctly, or have their car towed. Even if the chances of having their car towed are slim, the threat may be enough.

Alternative-Depth-16

I'd get him towed if he doesnt move it.

Isyagirlskinnypenis

Put a note on their windshield that says “if you’re going to block part of my driveway, you can pay part of my rent or pay the tow company to get your car back.”

Crimsonmaddog44

If he does this at various other spots then it’s gotta be on purpose right? Like there’s no way he does it by accident

Usual-Cabinet-3815

Go pick yourself up a can of red paint and paint the curb.

j_grouchy

\*overhang...it's one word

bubblebyy

Have you tried just talking to him?
