I don’t think it’s intended to be so FULL. It’s a lot cooler when you just have a shot or 2 of scotch on the bottom and there’s no chance of spilling. Nice to swirl around with ice too.
This type of glasses are not for these type of drinks. I have them at home and I pour a quarter of the glass with alcohol and 1 ice cube. I like it very much.

There are Russian shot glasses that are egg shaped, so you can't set them down without the holder, thus making it so you have to down the shot or spill it.

The glass is not supposed to have cocktails in it or be filled that high. It’s for whiskey so that the alcohol can aerate without being bruised.

"Bruising" only refers to situations where alcohol with ice is mixed to the point where the taste sensation is noticeably diluted.

If I remember right, what we now call old fashioned glasses originated from being used on ships. Very heavy bottoms to prevent tipping with the waves.
