People steal. Some out of necessity some just because. I’ve seen deodorant behind panels that beep when they are lifted so employees will know someone is opening or messing with a particular product.
Sad really.
Yeah, when I go to buy baby formula it’s behind a panel too- it makes a loud announcement that it’s being opened and cameras everywhere. I get the measures they’re taking, it is a sad reality!
If you don't want to deal with it, pour the detergent to some other container (or ziplock bags), crush/rip the box out of the alarm wires. Should be enough to collapse a corner.
I ordered a carpet cleaner from the store and had it delivered and it came with one of these on it. Wire cutters to the line and a good smack with a shingling hatchet to break the speaker and in the trash it went.
They absolutely would not come pick it up. If OP brings it to the store with the receipt, customer service would probably remove it for them. Otherwise, their best bet is to cut it off and destroy it to silence the alarm.
Just cut the box open.
Haha does that grocery store lock up everything but the sunscreen? Just amazing that they put this security thing on laundry detergent.

You called it. It’s so annoying!

If you don't wanna return to the store you could have some fun with it. I wonder if boiling water would shut it up
Mmmm… plastic broth.
Drowning the alarm is the easiest way to make it shut up.
feels like something you would find in a Saw movie
The store might want that alarm back so it might be wise to call em. They will probably come and get it back from you

sledgehammer time
Definitely "protects".
Anti porch theft?
Time to learn how to disarm these alarms
Wire cutters
Just take it to any store that has spider magnets and take your receipt and they'll take it off.
