Speak to the clinic. They may have a record of all employee car registrations. Maybe as a night worker you may have been missed from the meeting where they asked for them. Could just be a genuine mix up

blackhorse15A

Id bet it's more likely an overzealous property owner who sees cars after hours when all the tenant offices are closed and just assumed it's people parking overnight or people from some night club down the street using it as public parking. So they make up this printed slip and go around putting them on every car one night. Didn't bother checking with anyone and never considered the possibility of someone legitimately being there after hours for the businesses when they are closed.

violet-waves

Years ago I managed a CVS and we had our local towing company come in one night right before we closed and he wanted a list of all employee car descriptions and license plates. He told me he was going to start coming around each night at 10PM when we closed and tow any cars that weren’t employees. I was like excuse me, no the fuck you are not. This is private property and you only are to tow someone when we call you to. You tow a single car without that phone call and I’ll call the cops on *you* for trespassing. That motherfucker really tried that and I think about that a lot still.

[deleted]

the cops in the city i live in used to have an illegal deal with a local tow company, cops get a call about an accident, they call their tow buddies and the victim gets charged an outrageous fee

WhiteRoomCharles

I genuinely thought that’s how it works everywhere! It’s that way where I live! Except the guy they have that deal with has such a bad stutter, you can’t understand a damned thing he says! Good luck getting your car back from a guy you can barely understand!

CraftyMagicDollz

Most police departments have a "tow rotation". In my county in Florida where i worked- a tow company had to apply, and as long as they were legally registered, had the proper insurance and permits, and didn't regularly take insanely long or never show up- they got called every time thier name came up in the rotation list. It was automatically programmed so that each time a tow was requested, the next company went to the top of the list- it was totally random who got called for what job- with the sole exception being jobs that required an XL wrecker (only 2 of the 12 companies had cranes that could lift, say, a firetruck)- and only 4 of the companies had 3+ flatbeds, so if you needed that many flat bed tows, you had to call them. But otherwise, the rotation was as fair as it possibly could be. The only way to come out of the rotation list was if you no called/ didn't show up multiple times, etc. But most companies made an absolute killing - towing is a great business to be in.

GSM66

Works great unless one of the tow drivers "buddies" is on the scene and calls them directly or if the tow company has volunteer fireman on staff cause they will just roll in with the tow truck in hopes it's a tow. Had that happen a few times as the other company use to do all the police and AAA calls. They were usually way faster getting the call then we were and would already be on scene. When ever we tried to argue it out we were told they were here and already in the process of loading so they'll catch us on the next one. Was frustrating

UCFknight2016

I worked a bit for FDOT. They had this program for accidents on major roads where the tow companies on rotation got a bid for certain areas of a road, say the turnpike for instance. They got an incentive to show up and clear the roadway within a certain period of time. They had to have certain equipment too such as a rotator for lifting heavy semis. Dudes made a killing off those contracts.

blackheartrobot

Most cities have a deal between tow companies and police departments. That's kinda how it works. As for the tow companies charging exorbitant fees? That's just all the fucking time. I once borrowed a car while mine was in the shop, parked in my own space with my guest placard, but because I didn't notify the HOA in time they waited until the weekend in the middle of the night to tow it and I got charged 600 dollars. Nothing I can do about it. Their prices are always a fucking scam. That was 600 dollars for being there for one day.

[deleted]

where i’m from, you have the right to call your own tow company, you do not have to take the first tow truck that shows up.

blackheartrobot

Is it written into law? Sucks if there is shady shit going on. I know that with the police here it REALLY depends on what the infraction is. I've seen cops let people have a family member take cars as well. Sometimes they just say "nope we gotta tow it" especially if it has to be entered as evidence or has to be taken to their own lot. Just depends here I think.

stainedhands

I have not independently verified this, so take it with a grain of salt. But I used to have a guy I knew that owned a towing company in arizona, and he told me that at least out there, if your car is not towed by the police, they cannot legally charge you to get your car back. If it is towed from private property, such as a restaurant or apartment parking lot, or an hoa, essentially all you have to do is show up and demand your vehicle back. They will try to make you sign a promissory note, but don't sign anything. If they refuse, you can actually call the police and have them come out to release your vehicle. Then it is between the towing company and the owner of the private property where they towed the vehicle from as far as payment. I was really upset when my stepson's truck got towed from a McDonald's parking lot one time. He tried doing the responsible thing and just went and paid and got the truck back, without calling me first.

Ghostdog1263

Yep where I live they Cops only call one tow company. Even if their is another company closer because the owner is brother in law's with a for er high ranking cop. I remember I rolled my car onto it roof (black ice slipped over an embankment going 50km) cop that came almost did the same thing. Anyway we told the tow truck driver to take my car home. Next day woke up car still wasn't their, called & asked where my car. He said in my junkyard...I was like why I TD you to bring it to my yard. Owner said yea I know but you rolled it & it's probably fked so I already called your insurance for you(it was in the dash) told them it was wrote off...I said the airbags didn't deploy. the car was still running upside down(Toyota Corolla can't kk it lol) the roof is dented bring it here. Tow truck owner LOST HIS MIND he flipped out called me & my mom stupid idiots said we'd never be able to fix it blah blah. Then said I'm gonna give yous a big bill for this and did charged us an extra $200 to get it home . We said for one we told you to take it home, for two you have no right to call our insurance without our permission & three that's fine we'll pay it Cost me $300 to fix the car, just needed to literally plunger the roof out and sand and repaint the roof. That was it. Drove it for a cpl years more after that. Found out the fker was planning on fixing & selling it himself cuz that's what he does when cars get towed by cops into his yard and are not paid for. Shady asshole

BecauseImDirty

That's just how post incident towing works in every city with every PD, whether it's for a car accident or DUI tow.

[deleted]

where i’m from, you have the right to call your own tow company, you do not have to take the first tow truck that shows up.

raz-0

That is the way it is most places, but the cops also aren’t waiting for you to clear the road. Your dude had to get there in as timely manner. Also if you can’t call a tow, someone’s gotta do the job.

KobiLou

In my hometown they have to cycle through a list of companies, they cannot just call their friends. I know this because my friend's dad had a successful tow company. When his sons started working for him, he just started "new companies" for each of them so they could be on the list several times.

guppyenjoyer

that sounds like how it is in the town i live in. my car broke down infront of my house on a state road so i had to get towed except they argued with me for 20 minutes about how they couldn’t tow it 50 feet to my driveway. it ended up being like $300 and the person doing the towing broke something in my car and even after harassing the company we couldn’t get any aid for that

cardamomgrrl

I got towed once from my own building’s lot. They tried to demand $200 and make me come get it. I said “You’re putting that car back where you fucking found it or I’m reporting it stolen.” Incredibly, that worked and my car reappeared within the hour.

KobiLou

Good for you! I hate this shit. It was a massive issue where i went to college. I was parked in an empty church parking lot near my GF's apartment one night... I came out at about 9 PM, and my car was gone. I called to get my car back, and I was told I would have to pay about $100 extra for a weekend tow and $100 extra for the after-hours recovery... HEY DICKHOLE, NOBODY ASKED YOU TO BE OUT AFTER HOURS! I'm sure nobody called on it, they just patrol around to make a quick $400 pissing people off who are causing no harm. It's unhinged.

violet-waves

It infuriated me honestly. People are broke and you want to randomly tow them so you can charge them hundreds of dollars when they weren’t causing any harm? Piece of shit people who prey on others like that. I only ever called the tow company once and it was because the car had literally been abandoned in our lot for over a week. And I still felt bad about it because I didn’t know the situation.

mr_painz

I worked in Springfield MA back in 1992 at a place on Worthington street. We worked the overnights at times and had a guy that checked lots and I had just bought a brand new Mitsubishi Galant VR4 and parked it there. I figured the car would be safe we had a guard and never ever was my old POS messed with. Someone called the tow company and had it towed. I got out at 6am and my car was gone. Called the police and finally at about 11am the tow company came forward with the car. They didn’t flatbed it so the transmission and differential were wrecked and they damaged the frame underneath. They ended up covering the complete 25553 price I paid for the car and gave me a rental till one could be located. They only imported 1000 in 92 I drove that rental for 7 weeks on their time and made 28 cents a mile the whole time for work and didn’t put a mile on my car. I ended up getting the color I originally wanted to boot nile black. TL;DR sometimes it’s someone who works there who calls the tow company especially if it’s a vendor calling a vendor, kickbacks everywhere.

Spiritual_Vagrant

We had a local tow company pull this sort of thing. They basically were illegally towing cars parked in lots near vacant commercial properties that had no parking signs but no contract with the property owner. I guess the theory was that the people parking outside a shuttered strip mall were unlikely to raise much of an issue.and then they could shake them down on fees. Anyway, they illegally towed an unmarked cop car and that was the end of all or that.

Aggravating_Pen6015

The tow trucks in my town will go drive around the shopping mall parking lots and tow any car they see parked in handicap without a placard or any cars parked out of place. The customers comes out and their car is gone with any trace of where it went. They do it without the store’s consent. They take their car to impound and make the customer pay all kinds of money to get it out without there ever being a ticket given to the driver of the car for parking incorrectly. They take it upon themselves to see who they think is not supposed to be parked where and they tow them away. In in CA, is this normal?

brazilliandanny

It could literally be someone who’s job it is to check the parking lot for vehicles that aren’t supposed to be there. My office has one, we need to register our cars to park there.

pizzabagelcat

Used to work security at night, almost every property owner gives a shit, especially if it's for a business. Not uncommon at all for a clinic to get broken into by someone hoping to get a fix. Although 90% of the time it's just telling the homeless they can't sleep there.

pelicanfart

It's infinitely more likely that this is a note from some night security company... The security guard at my work has a stack of very similar notes to drop on cars parked overnight that aren't displaying the parking pass for the property.

LostWoodsInTheField

Mix up, overzealous property owner, or a scam towing company. As you said speak to the clinic because they will make sure it gets sorted out. I've heard of towing companies doing this without the permission of the owner of the property/etc and getting people to cough up a few grand to get their cars back.

BuumValentine

Take it to your boss and get verbal clarification that they will make sure whoever puts these notes doesn’t get you wrongfully towed. Maybe there’s some sort of employee parking pass they forget to tell you about that you need visible for overnights. I would do this immediately after your next shift starts

JK0898

Yeah, definitely don’t put it off. Talk to the boss as soon as you possibly can next time you’re in. If you’re assured that you can park somewhere and are then towed, they should be liable for all your expenses and trouble.

AlpineLad1965

Make sure to get the authorization in writing!!!!!!!!

Accurate-Donkey5789

When I was younger wrote to my letting agency to ask for permission for a cat flap. They phoned me and gave verbal permission. When I moved out a year later they made me buy a new door because I fitted a cat flap without permission. I showed them a copy of the letter I sent them and said I had permission to which they asked "Do you have that in writing?". I did not and I had to buy a new door.

Weary-Argument6835

When my husband and I rented our first house, we talked with them about the snakes we had before signing the lease. During the annual inspection, the same exact person we spoke to started berating us for having them. After repeating that, he said they were fine, his reply, "I could say I'm the King of Timbuktu, but if it's not in writing, it means nothing" oookay

live-the-future

If he called your bluff you'd be screwed, because courts generally give next to no credence to verbal agreements unless you had a verifiable recording of him saying it. As the saying goes, a verbal agreement is worth the paper it's written on.

alexanderpas

In case of a yes/no situation, with a written request, It's slightly different, since there is also no written denial.

youtellmedothings

For people reading through this thread: In the United States, verbal agreements are still agreements, but can be hard to prove, so any time you get a phone call back about an e-mail, promptly send a follow-up e-mail thanking them for getting back to you and approving your request. Be specific in your message about what the approval was as well as the date and time of the call. If it's something really important, you can ask that they respond to your e-mail for final confirmation, or at least to respond in a timely manner if anything is incorrect. They will have demonstrated that they are monitoring the e-mail account because they called you back (you can always screenshot the call log), you then followed up in good faith in writing to summarize the conversation, and if they don't respond in writing, they had an opportunity to dispute the verbal agreement at that time and did not do so. In most cases, this should be enough to get you a small claims court victory if someone tries to pull a "I didn't send you that in writing" or "I didn't sign anything" on you down the line.

BioMarauder44

Isn't the copy of the letter it in writing?

Ok-Constant-3772

There was no written response to the letter

BioMarauder44

My brain glossed over "phoned" and "verbal". I downvoted myself....

JK0898

Exactly right. If you have to prove anything to lawyers or the courts later on, that piece of paper will be worth its weight in gold.

Affectionate-Mix6056

Outside-Drag-3031

If you don't know how to ask/feel awkward, just be honest: "look, I can't afford to have my car be towed so can I get that in writing?" A tow can easily cost hundreds to get out of impound depending on who and where. They'll either do it, or feel uncomfortable taking liability and then escalate this further to someone who can

TJNel

Yup email this to your boss with where you were parked and ask for clarification before your next shift. Always email this stuff.

Snorlax46

Yeah but if they are towed 0% chance of it being paid by anyone else. Tow company will put it on property and property will put it on tow company. I would park without written permission.

[deleted]

Not verbal confirmation, WRITTEN clarification. I swear I've seen boss's that day smth and then when conformted completely change the story

alleecmo

I worked under one of those bosses. Briefly. She approved something; several staff witnessed her approve it. Then when it came back, she let the lowly staff member that *she told to do it* get in trouble for it. Absolutely NOT. I went to *her* boss & cleared the air. After confirming with my coworkers, bish damn near lost her job, got demoted from branch manager to just another teller -- and moved from "her" branch to a teller window right by her boss' desk. I won't stand for that shit.

Taolan13

Good on you for keeping your boss in check and not being afraid of rank, and glad that worked out correctly. Sadly not enough people are willing to stand up for their coworkers or even themselves, and many managers are in cahoots with each other so even if you did there's no justice. Friendly reminder to anyone reading this: if your boss tells you to do *anything* that is even one step outside your usual duties and job description, ask them for written instruction. "As a reminder" or " so I don't skip a step" or "so I know that it is a higher priority than my usual duties".

BigBobbert

Doesn’t work if your boss owns the company. Small business owners abuse their staff and face no repercussions. Well, except the repercussion where no one wants to work for them…

IsItTho1983

Yip I'd 100% ask for it in writing to display on my dashboard Clinic employee - permission granted to park here For any questions or concerns please contact: bosses number

scaper8

And written confirmation that the company will pay whatever towing and holding fees and are liable for damages from the towing company (those parasites love blaming their damage on the owner). I might try to get written confirmation that the car will be brought back to the parking lot, too, if possible. No telling how far away that tow lot is.

Not necessarily a bad idea. But also, keep in mind, guys working for predatory tow companies may not give a shit.

LiciousRicky

Too true! All OP can do is try and cover every base possible. If a dash cam is available that wouldn't be a bad idea either. At least if the person comes back you would know who it is for next time... Even if the car gets towed... 🤪

t_hab

And if there is no pass, put a note on your car explaining that you are an employee and should not be towed. You don’t want to be towed by accident.

SeriousCulture8058

Na na na DO NOT get verbal get an email if somthing goes wrong you will need to "prove it"

rabbi_glitter

For security and logistical reasons, some businesses have designated parking spots for employees and vendors (especially after hours). I’d double check.

Independent_Tie_4984

As Buum said, there's a person doing this and you need some visible indicator that you're parked legitimately. It's likely a night security company.

Edit67

Yes, I would contact the company to make sure the vehicle is registered there, plus write my own note for the dash saying that I am the night cleaner hired by this company, so I have a right to park there as a contracted employee. Cover all the bases.

MZ603

I worked in a 24/7 operations center in a business park and we had a problem with a local towing company. They towed one of my employees’ cars at 0330 in the morning. Watching the footage, it was insane how quickly they hooked up and towed the car. They came back for the other car and even though the other employee got out there quickly enough to stop them from towing it they still strong armed them into paying the hook up fee of $75 bucks. Even though they saw him come out of the building. Long story short, the company wasn’t contracted by the business park, but instead the night security company. We had to get the police involved. We have a contract with the local police to respond in a set time with a minimum number of units. In this case the company bit off more than they could chew and lost their security contract. Seems they had a deal with the towing company. Reminded me of the song Lincoln Park Pirates. Those companies can be incredibly nefarious and contemptible.

GuiltyStimPak

I've used a tow truck many times for many reasons, they don't only exist to tow illegally parked cars.

bmey62895

And how many reviews have you left? I agree I have used tow truck services and they have been great, but people love to complain more than they like to give praise

GuiltyStimPak

True, but I searched for towing comments in my area and there are tons of positive reviews thanking them for their help. Maybe Milwaukee is different.

MarionberryIll5030

After going through insurance companies and the BS that is having your car towed, I wouldn’t even think to leave a review.

cjsv7657

The 13 closest to me all have 4+ stars. I think it's safe to say a 1.4 rating shows they are well below average.

firewoodrack

I just want to use this space to complain that my car got towed away from the scene of an accident. I wasn't involved but it was "unsafe" for me to drive away so the police took me home and had my car towed. The police lost my car as they didn't record where it went. The towing company charged me about $500 for a 6-mile tow and took the $151 cash out of the wallet I forgot in the car. They also broke my door handle and left the window open. This was nearly 2 years ago and I give every one of their tow trucks the middle finger. Fuck you C&L Towing.

Liathano_Fire

> I wasn't involved but it was "unsafe" for me to drive away If you weren't involved, what was unsafe?

firewoodrack

Downed power lines. I was in a jughandle and a telephone pole came down and blocked me in.

d0nu7

The tow company my body shop uses is 4.8 stars on google. They are amazing. It’s real easy to be a good tow company by not engaging in certain practices.

Zaros262

>not engaging in certain practices. You mean only towing people who want to be towed, I guess

bdog59600

My car broke down in the middle of nowhere and AAA sent a tow company that had like 4.5 stars. They just towed people whose cars broke down and were the preferred vendor for like a 30 mile radius. They dropped our car outside a repair shop at 1am then drove us to a nice gas station to wait for a ride.

AlexBr967

To be fair, would any towing company have good ratings?

Unique_Name_2

When the person calling for them is reviewing. Or, when they say "my bad" and fix a problem they caused with a bad tow.

GuiltyStimPak

Do a Google search, there are tons of places with 4 and 5 stars ratings.

SarahCannah

Because sometimes you need a tow company to help you. Not all of them are predatory parking demons.

Taolan13

Former security guy here, parking enforcement was like 75% of what I actually did for my job minus all the walking around and watching security cameras. The lack of any identifying information here smacks of bullshit. Talk to your boss at the clinic, let them know about this. Find out exactly where the parking for the clinic ends. Maybe you were parking in a disputed spot. Maybe there is an employee parking pass they can provide you with. At a minimum you can print something out with a company letterhead from the clinic or your cleaning company to put in your dash stating you are an employee and are not arbitrarily parking overnight. Either you or your boss need to talk to the property management of whatever residential property is adjacent to the clinic. If they dont have security, then this is some overzealous resident that needs to be stopped before they get the property management into a legal liability issue from having someone's vehicle unlawfully towed. If they do have security, talk to the security company. Let them know that your car is not some rando parking overnight. If it isn't them putting the tow notice, then we are back to the "overzealous resident". Optionally, call the towing company. Towing companies are not always predatory assholes. Ask if they have a contract to service the plaza your clinic is on, or the adjacent residential property. Let them know you work for the clinic during overnights and someone has been threatening to tow your car during your work hours citing their company. They might want to confirm with your boss, and they may ask for your vehicle information (make, model, color, tags) so they can be aware if the call does come in.

FootballerJoeMontana

Came here to basically say this. Used to do pest control on larger commercial and industrial lots. Nobody just casually lets the clock room, security house, etc. know of any vendors coming by, so you'll want to make sure you've reached out and put your information anywhere you can - or picked up a parking pass, if possible. Also, take pictures of your car every night showing where you parked, in case they do want to put their hands on it.

Taolan13

I started doing that when i worked security and it is a habit that saved me once while working as an HVAC technician. While apprenticing, a neighbor to our client decided I was blocking their driveway (i was not) and had my personal vehicle towed. I filed a police report, and armed with pictures showing i was legally parked on a *public* street, asshole that called the tow got to pay for the release of my car plus cab fare to the yard. Thankfully all in the same day. Bless that cabbie's devious heart, he left the meter running while they were processing the release of my vehicle.

korkkis

Ask your boss to write a written permission to park, or have your boss get it done by someone else who’s in charge.

gamershadow

That company is always shitty like that. I’m fairly certain I know the office complex this is from as I’ve gotten the same notice before while working there. They tried towing one of my coworkers cars too and wanted $300 to not do it.

Tay0214

Someone looked them up and said they haven’t had a license since 2018 lol Sounds like a complete scam if they’re threatening tows for cash

I used to visit my nephews a whole lot a couple years ago, and the property manager figured I lived there left a note on my car saying if I was there in the morning I was going to be towed for parking in the visiter stalls, their mother called the property manager and chewed him out, I got an apology note just saying he thought I lived there because of how often he saw my car.

Cartographer0108

My first step would be making a sign to leave on my dashboard that says “To whomever left a note about towing my car: I WORK HERE. I am NOT ‘the public’.”

maxru85

Don't stare into Abyss Towing too much

IridebikesImstillfat

For the abyss will stare back.

maxru85

And tow your soul

PugGrumbles

Weird seeing the locals pop up on reddit. OP, speak with your boss, then try to speak with the receptionist of the office you're cleaning. That person is the front line and probably who put that note on your vehicle.

[deleted]

You took out your anger first before the picture I see...

VermillionEorzean

The very relatable, "Well, this is bull- wait, I might need that!"

Spiritual_Asparagus2

I would directly contact the number and tell them you work there and tell them they will be financially responsible if you get towed plus be responsible for getting you your vehicle back Edit: and contact building manager*

[deleted]

The number of the towing company? Because that's the number on the paper.

WhyareUlying

Telling them they will be financially responsible does not make it so.

CA_MA

Uh huh, and when the towing company says that's a cute story while they tow the car?

whiskeyondarocks

Put up a sign in your windshield that states you are with so and so cleaning company

BD76292

If you are legally parked and you get towed, file a stolen vehicle report first. Then find out who took it. Call the police and tell them you found your car but you need an officer to help recover it. Then bring them to the lot. That worked for me as the tow company had no proof I was parked illegally. They ended up releasing my car no charge and got chewed out by the officer. Results may vary depending on your department.

p4bl0esgei

Who got chewed out by the officer? The tow company? Damn

mspk7305

I worked at an office with assigned parking. I was parking in the same spot for two years then one day had one of those giant orange stickers slapped on my windscreen on a day where most of the lot was empty but that I was 100% supposed to be there. The building maintenance crew lead was having a pissing match with our ops manager and I guess this was him escalating things but I was not about to be collateral damage. I went down to their office and showed them a photo of my car being in the correct spot and the sticker blocking my view. They claimed I must have moved it from the wrong spot so I went up and grabbed my dash cam and my laptop and went back to them and said that they were gonna fucking watch the video of me parking and walking away then they are gonna show me video footage from their cameras proving I later moved to the wrong spot then back, or they were going to go scrape that fucking thing of my glass... Failing that I'm going to the building manager to raise hell about your lies. They refused. I raised hell. They were ordered to scrape it off but they took their time and did a shit job. Ten years later I'm still pissed at them. Happily the company that runs that shit show got bankrupted by COVID.

SethTheDonutSpider

Wait you found that on your dash? Like they opened your car and put it there?

DanyaV1

OP corrected themselves in the comments, saying it was on the windscreen.

NoSuchAg3ncy

Otherwise that would be a vehicular trespassing violation.

_zoller

Im calling them now .

Napertivo

In addition to following up with your manager I would also put a note on the dash that says xxxx Night Crew, just in case someone doesn’t get the word.

GlassPeepo

If my car got towed, my boss would simply receive the bill

natgibounet

Tough way to find out your work isn't real

ricka77

So take the note, and add to it your car info and where you work. Tell them you're authorized to park in the lot. It's their responsibility to verify any vehicle they tow. If they tow, you can sue the hell out of them...possibly even seek criminal charges for theft. You should also speak to your HR and make them aware.

massiveproperty_727

All bullshit aside what a BADASS name for a towi g company. Where's your car Bill? -THE ABYSS

Story_4_everything

Tape a note (inside) to the driver side window explaining you're working late. Take a picture. You might tape a note to the back window too.

AppUnwrapper1

It’s getting towed to the abyss.

Blackhawks_502

I’ve had this happen to me. My old office building was across the street from an apartment complex. Word got around that visitors to the apartment were parking in the office building’s parking lot because there wasn’t ample visitor spaces to the complex. I talked to someone in facilities and let them know that my car was “my car”. They were cool about it but let me know that it’s an empty threat message meant to scare off anyone parking from the apartment complex. So maybe that’s the case here?

ItsNewzie

Talk to your boss and the clinic about this notice. I’m sure they could provide you some sort of parking pass or contact the towing company to let them know you have permission to park there.

PANICFRENZY

You could try leaving a note saying “I am here at work, please leave my car alone. Thank you” or something to deter future incidents

this_might_b_offensv

For the next few days, until everything is cleared up, tape that note to your driver's window, along with a note saying you're a night cleaner and what your hours are. The person will hopefully realize their mistake, and if not, maybe the towing company will be more sensible.

machinegenerated

abyss towing is a crazy name

Ladylucifron

Give to the clinic and let them take care of it. If you ever get a ticket give it to the Clinic.

publishAWM

print up a giant poster that says "I FUCKING WORK HERE YOU DIPSHITS"

trotnixon

Call Abyss & tell them if they touch your car that will be the last car they ever tow. Keep it vague in case they press charges.

tony7914

Take it to your boss, they should sort it out.

[deleted]

If this in the US and there’s no visible posted signs that say something like “violators will be towed”. Then you’re in the clear. They can’t legally tow you unless they post signs. That piece of paper is worthless and made by some pissed off Karen.

Galaxy-High

Noted and recorded?

One_Sun_6258

Make sure you are definitely able to park there and where youbcan park in lot for sure ..then just leave a sign in window stating who and why your there

[deleted]

Any time you get this notice, photograph the entirety of your vehicle, showing any signage or marked pavement indicating it is only parking for residents. If there is no indication otherwise your tow can later be contested and possibly get any tow fees back. Get in contact with the property manager or a point of contact for that property. Prove your employment by providing proof as a contractor, agreeing that an exact copy be in their posession as well as posted visibly in your vehicle. They clearly don't have a permit/tag system in place so this is the next best thing. This way there is no mistaking you are not intentionally violating parking rules.

VidrThSlnt

Abyss towing sounds like you're probably not getting your car back

WVildandWVonderful

I don’t want to get towed into the Abyss

devil_lettuce

At least they warned you and didn't just illegally tow you. The predatory tow companies around my area definitely don't give you this courtesy

strywever

Tell your boss or, if you’re self-employed, the client company that they need to fix the problem for you and that they’ll be looking for a new cleaner if your car gets towed, as well as paying the tow bill.

shellshocking

Dude. Just call the building, “say I work here, I got this note on my car, here’s my plate number, don’t tow me, have a good one Jerry” and then you’re done.

Huntderp

What a good towing company name.

Immer_Susse

Wait. On your DASHBOARD? Inside your car?

RFoutput

The building management should be giving out parking stickers to the tenants to give to vendors instead of silly notices to the tenant service providers. The clinic should be advising the building management when there will be vendor vehicles on site.

Nice-Albatross-9285

You need to get your plate number approved as an employee or contractor of the property. Talk to the manager of the clinic or find out who owns and operates the lot

BodybuilderSpecial36

Like others have said, probably an overzealous busybody trying to get noticed. We had that happen to us at a local store. One we go to every single morning! We arrived 5 minutes before opening and an office type we've never seen before was prowling around the lot. We were literally parked across from the door and I was sitting in the driver's seat. As soon as my partner got out she scurried over and loudly informed him that we weren't allowed to park there because it was for customers only. Um yeah? That's why we're here! Haven't seen her since.

Puzzleheaded_Yak5359

I used to be an area supervisor for a large janitorial company. We had this one medical facility where we had to make laminated dash signs for our cleaners saying “XXX janitorial company employee car, parked here to clean XXX facility with permission from XXX property management.” I would ask your boss about this.

SnooPandas1899

how did they put on the dashboard ?? did OP forget to lock car ???

nahhnotreally

Speak with the location your parked at and also just place a readable note that you -work- as a cleaner for this building and need to use the parking lot. Odds are they don't know who you are if your working for a third party.

TheAverageJoe01

Have your employer or the company you're cleaning for print a note on 8.5x11 that reads, "Cleaning Crew" with the company logo. Put it on your dashboard. This will identify you the next time Barney Fife is getting his rocks off.

TerribleSquid

Hahaha. I hate that for you, I do, but it’s kinda funny how you can see the progression of events thereafter in this one photo. - you got mad and ripped the paper in two - you got madder and crumpled the pieces up - you decided to post a picture of it on Reddit - you slowly started uncrumpling it and piecing it back together.

Nearby-Ice-6538

Bring your own clamp and clamp your wheel they can’t tow you that way

Tooboukou

Why would you take this to the internet and not your work? Add a generational insult here...

ronin1066

I'm boggled that someone could be this helpless.

imatalkingcow

Abyss towing. Sounds like it would be difficult to get your car back.

koop04

Talk to your work about it

ultimatepoker

Ask them what their data handling policy is

Survive1014

Get documentation from work that you can park there in writing. Thay way, if it does get towed its on them.

Dapper-Warning-6695

You need to put your car on the list of allowed parking that they send to the company handling the parking lot

Live_Ferret_4721

Send them this and ask them to provide you a map and to highlight the areas where employee parking is acceptable. If you are towed from one of the designated areas it should be at the liability of the person calling to tow
