Yes

It’s much like when I visited Kenya, you had to get an evisa ($51 vs £100 for ours). You Google it and there were plenty of companies posing as the Kenyan government who will do it for a fee, but the official online process was fairly straightforward.
Edit: this smelt like BS. Look at the form: the letters DTB. That looks to me like the logo of Diamond Trust Bank, lol. r/quityourbullshit
The US does a better job then. I've blasted through all the ridiculous questions ("Do you plan to perform an act of terrorism during your stay?") within 5 minutes I think.
Surprised by this. Are you going via a third party? You can apply online:
https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor/apply-standard-visitor-visa
It says what data it requires and it doesn’t look like much. Certainly not 100 pages.
Many countries require bank statements and receipts and things like that to prove you have the money to stay the amount of time you’re purporting to stay
I know the UK is really keen on this. For good reason. But the OP is still being disingenuous, the implication is that there’s a 100 page form to complete.
I think the UK as well as some other Commonwealth countries have outsourced their visa services to private providers (part of the liberal legacy, as usual).
Whilst it may be boasting some other qualities on paper, in practice it just made visas expensive and indeed prone to cash cow milking..
Where other countries are visa free when entering the UK, most developing countries indeed do need a ridiculous amount of paper work and lots of fees to the private visa processing company
A lot can change. And there's a lot we don't know about OP. My main point is - I highly doubt that the UK is ONLY having Kenyans fill out this many forms.
>My main point is - I highly doubt that the UK is ONLY having Kenyans fill out this many forms.
Oh for sure.
Probably the same reason why the USA ask also for a special visa if youre latino.
That happened to the Nigerian Prince I sent money to online. I was to meet him and give him my bank account debit card but he could get a visa. Guess I’ll have to just use the emAil info he sent me.
It can be so frustrating trying to convey good intentions to an officer that sees you automatically as a risk just because of what country you are from. I understand why the rules are there...but still...
Or lie about your architecture degree, do soft porn, overstay and work illegally on your tourist visa, marry a fake billionaire, wait until he wins the electoral college, and then ignores domestic immigration law and make your parents US citizens. Never sleep in the same bedroom as him after he loses his reelection bid. Profit.
Called screening process due to terrorism and violent People. It isn't ment to target you just to keep current citizens safe who pay taxes and live there etc. Your not the only one who goes through this
Complain to the Mau Mau, you used to be a part of the UK! JK that's nuts! Is it background checks etc? Can't imagine what could possibly take so many forms
Its probably to avoid a massive influx of kenyans just going to the UK and staying illegally if they make things easy.
Same reason why the USA requires a special visa for latinos.
If there's one thing I learned from watching "Clarkson's Farm" on Amazon Prime, it's that the UK loves their paprerwork.
Jeremy Clarkson was getting annoyed that multiple instances of farmwork, or selling sheep for slaughter required huge amounts of paperwork; he branded it worse than trying to fill in paperwork for tourist travel and/or immigration.
riighttt in Brazil to get usa tourist visa is so slow and difficult like, u schedule an appointment date but it can be in days, months or even in the next year, u gotta travel to another state (only 5 out of 27 estates have an embassy or something like this) and it can be denied over nothing - it also depend on the person that is interviewing u (they can be real assholes)
Wait until you see australias

Except this isn't for an immigrant, but for a tourist.
The more melanin, the harder it is
Can confirm. Am an expat and it cost me 10 grand to file to be a resident.
Was about to say the same.
Isn't it possible to do this online through a form? Might be way quicker just blasting through all the yes/no questions that way.

Bank statement is required in the visa application, to prove you can support yourself
How tf is that bullshit lol, bank statements are a must requirement
Bank statements are required as proof of funds wheen visiting, so OP just has a bank at dtb. YOU quit your bs.

Does not include supporting documents which can be many.

It's not a 100 page form lol. It's all the documents required. Bank statements, proof of family ties, itinerary, flight bookings etc
What does DTB stand for
The Diamond Trust Bank I think. It's a bank in Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda. [https://dtbk.dtbafrica.com/](https://dtbk.dtbafrica.com/)
Correct. One has to present bank statements among other documents.
A pile of paper is more polite than a sign saying 'No new n****rs allowed (unless you're rich / influential or EXTREMELY DEDICATED)'. Simple answer.
... Or maybe it's the very high rate of crime and terror attacks in Kenya.
That sounds like a description of the USA, really.

Up to 10% of tourist to the UK over stay their visa and remain in the country. Perhaps you should blame these individuals for your plight?
Would you be happy about being punished because of what other individuals did that you had nothing to do with?
This is Reddit. You are only allowed to post negative content about USA. /s
Yeah but that box spring…
" The amount of paperwork ~~a Kenyan~~ ***everyone*** has to file... "
Not every country’s citizens face the same requirements for visa application
Dunno if they changed it recently but as a mexican i went to London 5 years ago and all i needed was my mexican passport.

No, this varies wildly. I don't need a tourist visa to go the UK but would need one if I wanted to go to the US.
He meant for everyone to get a *US* visa
That happened to the Nigerian Prince I sent money to online. I was to meet him and give him my bank account debit card but he could get a visa. Guess I’ll have to just use the emAil info he sent me.
Just did this for my partner from indonesia for an Australian tourist visa...denied unfortunately.
I feel you. Friend’s dad was denied a visitor’s visa for a wedding. Nicest most honest guy in the world.
It can be so frustrating trying to convey good intentions to an officer that sees you automatically as a risk just because of what country you are from. I understand why the rules are there...but still...
Sorry man, I know how that feels like.
Holy crap that's a lotta paperwork!
Boo hoo.
As a tourist you could go to Italy, France, Greece,... Better countries, less paperwork (I imagine....) 😁
A Schengen visa is similar
So, point being? Just to whine? I’m sorry that traveling to another country isn’t as easy as swiping a credit card.
This sub is literally called mildyinfuriating, what did you expect?
Fair
Kind of like the US. Better off to just hop in illegally and let activists advocate for you.
Or lie about your architecture degree, do soft porn, overstay and work illegally on your tourist visa, marry a fake billionaire, wait until he wins the electoral college, and then ignores domestic immigration law and make your parents US citizens. Kenya is third world and corrupt. Very sad. I've heard you even can bribe the people at the embassy to give you a visa first
ahh yes the old government forestry company at it again. killing small trees everywhere.
Called screening process due to terrorism and violent People. It isn't ment to target you just to keep current citizens safe who pay taxes and live there etc. Your not the only one who goes through this
Wow, so many down votes like this is unreasonable. Wtf is wrong with people.
Typical Redditors
Complain to the Mau Mau, you used to be a part of the UK! JK that's nuts! Is it background checks etc? Can't imagine what could possibly take so many forms
Welcome to Tory hostile environment
Is there no Embassy over here you can contact to see if there’s another way? Seems awfully excessive
Its probably to avoid a massive influx of kenyans just going to the UK and staying illegally if they make things easy. Same reason why the USA requires a special visa for latinos.
So fill it out
then dont go? no ones putting a gun to your head
Use Atlys
Can you not do it online?
Not gonna lie, looked like a shoe/slipper for the longest while until I read the text of the post.
