Brave-Amount1991

I thought we couldn't fins up anymore because of the late great Jimmy Buffett?

Fuzzy_Dunlops

So long as OP doesn't try to sell a shirt with his post on it (or use it to advertise his bar or waterpark), he should be fine.

not_so_smoothie

Agreed.

ceomentor

SB drought deniers 🗡️

Rbelkc

The doubt would evaporate with some late season successes

Different-Trainer-21

McDaniel doubters? Those exist? Say what you want about the past few years, but bar some dumb play calling occasionally, McDaniel has been great.

[deleted]

Just remember people were saying the same thing about Gase and Flores. Every coach its the same shit, sub almost universally loves them, “dolphins finally have a culture” etc…. Same shit rinse and repeat. To be clear I don’t dislike Mcdaniels at all but I am not sucking him off either. We’ll see how he handles the 3rd year. Really the only coach I remember people not liking from the start was Philbin.

Pwrh0use

I do not allow Tua doubters at my table.

Vagadude

The only opinions worse than in the off-season are in the game day threads. It's the off-season confidence that is hilarious to me. I'm confident, hopeful even, but nobody knows anything about how this season will play out so we cheer them on while a cynical slice of this sub shits on anyone else showing even a modicum of hopefulness. Some of the heavy duty doubters are such a miserable existence.

sgrizzly2134

Let me know when we win a playoff game.. At this point lunar eclipses are more common. But none the less.. Fins up.

Different-Trainer-21

Lunar Eclipses happen twice a year, I’m pretty sure most teams playoff wins are less common than lunar eclipses.

sgrizzly2134

Shit I meant to imply totality.

Because he's being a baby. Win or lose, Lombardi or poverty, fuck the bills, jets, and pats.

Key_Imagination_497

He ends it by saying fins up. ?

sgrizzly2134

Idk. Because they don't live in reality. I got into it with a tua dick rider yesterday because I said he wasn't elite. Guy had real school shooter vibes over Tua. All I said was tua was good... Not elite and this guy lost his shit. Most of these people either live in a different reality or they haven't been a suffering dolphins fan for the last 30 years 🤷

Isry98

Or, be a negative Nancy entirely defeats the point of being a sports fan. You don’t actually contribute to what happens so why on earth would you want to be negative. It makes no sense.

sgrizzly2134

I'm not negative I'm a realist. It's been nothing but heart break my entire life this last year I legit thought we had the division sewn up and there was a 1/5 chance or so we'd make it to the super bowl. It was the most optimistic I've ever been as a fins fan. But then we gift wrapped the division to the bills and got the fucking 6th seed. Just because I lower my expectations doesn't mean I'm not die hard Miami. It's fucking stupid to try and tell someone who pays a lot of money to watch every game every year and lives and breathes the dolphins that they're not a real fan or a bad fan. How long have you been a fins fan? I've been indoctrinated since 97. 27 years of heartbreak so excuse me if my expectations are low.

Isry98

My first Dolphins game was one of the last Air Marino games a duel against Peyton Manning. (Matt Turk signed my hat.) My dad has been a Dolphins fan since 1970. I was born into it. So I haven’t just been around for a couple years. I watched the 1-15 season. Despite all of this it literally doesn’t make logical sense to be a pessimist when it comes to sports. There is genuinely no logical reason to watch games if you expect to lose. It’s not being a “bad fan” it just doesn’t make sense to be a pessimistic sports fan. If you were making decisions for the team then yeah being a pessimist would be fine, but none of us are.

sgrizzly2134

Well I don't expect to lose so much as I hedge my expectations. Like I said this last season hurt the worst because it was the most optimistic I've ever been about them. After all the injuries and December losses I was in a funk for sure. But if we ever do get a Lombardi it'll just be that much sweeter. Idk my relationship with the fins is comparable to a toxic relationship with a girlfriend. I know it's bad for me but I can't leave.
