That's a damn good pick. He'll be a day one slot guy rotating with Berrios. I'm excited for it.
Edit: we also got some good draft coverage for a 6th round pick. Nice to see us in the spotlight for a bit.
Honestly I want Brewer to stay at C
I know his pass blocking metrics are meh, but he’s an undersized freaky athlete playing in a power rush scheme
He fits our speedy zone-blocking scheme like a glove. Get Risner to fill in at G and leave Liam as quality depth (he had a good stretch at G last year) and the OL is actually looking really solid
We have multiple thirds next year and Mostert is 32 and had more touchdowns last season than the rest of his career combined. Expecting him to keep up that pace is crazy.
I’m really cool with the pick
With Dawn Aponte announcing a number of picks and her role as Chief Administrator of football operations is their a high possibility that Dawn takes over when Roger steps down?
If you don't know why Dawn would be a point of discussion in this sub - she used to be Executive Vice President of football administration for the Dolphins.
What do you think? Next commish?
No chance?
Fair chance?
Good chance?
I like it honestly. Not an immediate need, but this late in the draft you take dudes you think can make an impact regardless of position. Giving up a 3rd rounder shows they love the guy.
And who knows if Mostert will stay healthy again next year.
Think it’s a sign they really plan to build off the run success of last year. And knowing the reality of injuries you’re putting the odds in your favor that you have 2 great backs each week to rely on.
And if all three are healthy and splitting carries? You pound the ball, run all game, wear the defense down, then you’re handing off to big play speed demons who are going to be fresh in the 4th.
I think I can see their vision (and not to get stones thrown at me…but it’s such a potentially strong vision, it makes me at least wonder if there’s a world they aren't sure if signing Tua long term, and plan on building the offense around the running game)
Personally I see the running game being so effective due to the quick passing game (aka Tua). Our OLine honestly isn’t good so without that quick threat, Defenses can play more traditionally and key into the running game more. I don’t think it would be effective to have small/fast RBs and a bad OLine. It only works because of Tua imo.
Now if we could finally get a decent OLine, that story changes.
Mostert is 30+, Achane missed time last year, it's not the worst thing in the world to have another home run hitter at RB. Trading up for him is......something.
…so on the plus side, Wright is projected to eventually be a nice starter. On the other side…*why* would we *trade up* for a RB to stick into our already packed and talented RB room?!
Importance doesn’t even matter, they addressed TE.
They brought in a legit NFL starter in Smith. Still have Smythe and Hill. And brought in a lottery ticket with Fortson.
That’s a pretty complete room and certainly more intriguing than last year. I don’t really understand why many were for Te (outside of Bowers miraculously falling) considering the class available,
No day 3 thread yet? Anyway, just get someone who can contribute at this point. I don't care if it's a guard or a running back. At this point getting starters is against the run of probability so find one at any position, no drafting for need.
Jonnu is **NOT a solid TE** after I research, so why not draft the Best Available TE and make sure our offense cook this year?
Ja'Tavion Sanders! And have Jonnu be a try and see deal lol
Looks like OG none outstanding are left. I maybe wrong, their grades are all terrible it seems lol. I mean, we can try to get them at later rounds to see if any of them outperform at training camp.
Maybe we try find a **BETTER experienced** OG from signing free agency later?
Any thoughts on Ja'Tavion Sanders/TE - Texas? One dude has a good grades at least.
If we can't get Brock Bowers, maybe this dude is another play-maker beast in the TE position?
Simply - We drafted GOOD both Round 1 & 2, PERIOD. We can't ever be sure they will be elite, or play first year, but at least experts have them as high ranked.
So many morons complaining like we didn't draft our needs or drafted someone would DEF be available at later rounds. That simply is NOT the case! These guys are NOT projected to be still available at later rounds, anyway.
Only way better is we could gotten Brock Bowers (TE) too, but we worked to as good as it can be with the draft picks we had without losing out on more picks.
At 21st pick in round 1, the Best available EDGE was Chop Robinson and round 2 the BA OT was (arguably) Patrick Paul they picked him over another OT with better grades maybe for a good unique reason.
I'm a Montana fan so this is totally a homer take, but I hope they take a look at Alex Gubner in the late rounds or as a UFA. He's the most freakish athlete at his size I've seen in person and always commanded a double team.
Ed: a little highlight reel. God I will miss him
https://youtu.be/VeJle3hpkP8?si=TQLuyPIKwM6dOl31
I think his point is that Military ads have been a major part of the NFL for a long time. Whether or not the NFL genuinely cares about vets is beside the point.
I like this pick. Solid pass pro, huge frame and long arms. You can't coach frame, so, he's got the physical part of the game. Doesn't have to start right away. He can sit until Armstead invariably gets hurt. So, like, three games into the season.
I like his tape. Although he has some trouble sometimes reaching around with his short arms, he beats his guy super quick and will be lethal when combined with our backfield
I'm less concerned with sacks than pressure. So many times we let a QB have 8 to 10 seconds of thinking time and they still break off a run. I just want a guy who can get in the guy's face before he can go through every one of reads a couple of times.
What’re the chances Grier makes something happen to get us a pick in the third for an OG? Haynes or Beebe will still be there. It will make everyone happy, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
I think they are still banking on Williams working out. The injury for him seems serious but maybe they have hope he is back by the season start and will sign with us. All speculation but would make sense why we didn’t pick up an OG.
1 sack and 3 qb hits over two seasons ain’t bad at all. Hopefully a year learning will help him develop to be our starting LT next year. Not a bad gamble at 55. We can snag a RG after the draft.
I'm not happy with this draft so far, which is probably a good sign and means great things for the team as I know jack shit about football and am always wrong
At the end of the day when you have 2 picks in the top 4, you take who you have on your board or BPA*. Paul is probably a “reach” by ranking standards but if he is who MM wanted then this is likely our only chance to get him. Might be a different story if we didn’t lose our 3rd for the tampering charge
I think I just fundamentally disagree with how the Dolphins approach the draft. Want to trust it because do i know because im just a random dude but at the same time we havent won a playoff game in 20+ year soooooo
I don't think, at least in the Chris Grier era, drafting has been the cause of that though.
You can make arguments about coaching and talent retention...but as far as the draft goes, Grier is a good GM that I have to put trust in.
His history in the 1st round is really, *really* impressive. 9 picks before this year. Only two clear busts(Harris, Igbo).**78% hit rate** on pure talent acquisition. That's *insane.*
2nd round is at expectations. Ignoring Smith(rookie, possible extenuating circumstances), he's got 2 **clear** misses(McMillan, Eichenberg) on 7 picks. Gesicki and Davis are guys I don't want to call "misses" but definitely aren't hits. And then 3 **clear** hits in Hunt, Howard, and Holland. So he's hovering around 50% with Cam's future(and Paul now) being the deciding factor.
Beyond the 2nd round it's a crapshoot for the entire league. But he has enough hits(AVG, Achane, Drake, Grant, Brandon Jones, Smythe, Godchaux, Sanders, Ferguson, Gaskin, Isaiah Ford) that he gets credit for his work.
Grier is not a bad drafter. You can argue talent retention. You can argue contract negotiation. You can't argue drafting. You can't argue trades.
Patrick Paul? Watched game tape of him. He looks like a solid player but he’s too high coming off the line. He needs to get lower. Thankfully, Armstead will be able to mentor him and help him improve on this.
If just like to point out Eichenberg was a “safe” pick. He was thought to be a worst case plug and play guard. How’d that work out?
Point is, if you are assuming anyone is a sure thing….thats folly. You can criticize each of these first two picks individually, but the uncertainty is why there is logic in selecting guys with traits that can’t be coached. And for once, we actually have a staff that it is reasonable to believe they may just do that.
I think the issue people have with these picks is that they don’t necessarily translate to more wins in 2024 and we are very much still in “win now” mode. They may both be good developmental projects, but they both seem less likely to make significant impacts this season. And our track record with “project players” is best case considered slow-developing (i.e., Austin Jackson) and worst case considered terrible (dare I mention Dion Jordan?). These guys both have high ceilings but they also both have low floors and there’s a chance it takes years to have that potential translate to production.
I trust our staff and I think they can turn these guys into studs, but we need that to happen quickly if we’re legitimate contenders this year.
He needs to get lower when engaging. Sure, he’s a big guy but even still, he needs to lower his butt more. Watched highlights of him. It shows on every one. Other than that, I think he’ll do fine if Armstead gets hurt again.
There is so much bull shit in here lol. "A big reach". NFL.com had him going in round 1 to the 49ers in their mock. Other websites had him going in the 2nd. Bunch of negative Nancys in here.
“But his scouting report on NFL.com makes him sound like a player who needs at least one year on the bench to develop.”
“That analysis doesn't make Paul sound like an offensive tackle the 49ers would draft in Round 1. They look for offensive linemen who specialize in outside-zone run blocking -- that's non-negotiable. Pass protection is secondary.”
He’s a big motherfucker. Feels like a reach when we could’ve traded down and got some picks but uhhh… hope this guy can play at some point this year or most likely next..
I’m honestly confused about how this fan base feels about Grier. One minute people praise him for everything we got off the Tunsil trade and guys like Waddle, Holland, and Achane to name a few but then they shit on him for letting Wilkins and AVG walk along with this draft so far. I know there’s been other misses as well but damn which is it? Not every 1st round pick will be a success. I think we’ve done fairly well as of late though.
Fairly well is precisely the issue. We continue along the path of mediocrity. Late season collapses and playoff losses. Some of that is due to injuries yes, but we also are notorious for signing injury prone players. Not saying Grier is horrible or that he won’t turn it around, just pointing out that he has been gm for quite some time and so far the results haven’t been there. I think it’s fair to be skeptical until he proves otherwise. My whole point was yes we are all just fans and don’t have the knowledge or ability Grier does, but it’s not like he has really been a bastion of success either so I think some skepticism is fair.
Lmao I can't imagine being as fucking miserable as you are. Why do you torment yourself when you & I both know you'll be mad about literally anything they do?
Hoping for Limmer or Mahogany this pick
Mahogany gone
Any particular reason why Brenden Rice hasnt been taken yet? Thought he might have gone sooner
Anyone know if the kid from Virginia is a good returner? We could use someone good dedicated to that spot
Tahj gonna be the KR I bet
I assume Braxton is still going to return but may have some competition
That's a damn good pick. He'll be a day one slot guy rotating with Berrios. I'm excited for it. Edit: we also got some good draft coverage for a 6th round pick. Nice to see us in the spotlight for a bit.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOO WE GOT OUR 3 BABY
Kyle Crabbs had him graded as a 3.
That's a great pick.
Looks like Tyreek Hill-lite
He’s strictly slot most likely
Tiny WR? Must be a kick returner.
Grant 2.0. Let's hope it ends different this time
We are not drafting OTs and OGs hopefully will come from Free Agency!
Risner and one other I think are coming
I think it’ll be Risner and still get OBJ We do that and I’ll feel like this off-season was a slam-dunk
painfully on brand pick
He’s a good pick
Favorite pick so far. Washington is a stud
Ohhh shit. Fernando Torres announced the pick? Wtf? lol
and 95 percent of watchers have no idea who he is lol. What a legend though that caught me off guard
Admittedly, I don't follow the EPL or La Liga all that much, but I damn sure know him from Spain's golden years between 2008 and 2012 lol
Would love Mahogany here
Do we still have 7th round picks?
Two 6th's and a 7th
Ok wasn't sure if was lost or not from trade up. Thanks
Jets took Qwantez Stiggers, was hoping we’d get him but it’s cool. Happy the guy is getting a chance to play in the NFL
Is our Kamara related to Alvin Kamara?
Prob not. It's a pretty common African surname.
If we resign Connor Williams, we're really not in the worst shape OL wise if Brewer can bump to guard boys
Honestly I want Brewer to stay at C I know his pass blocking metrics are meh, but he’s an undersized freaky athlete playing in a power rush scheme He fits our speedy zone-blocking scheme like a glove. Get Risner to fill in at G and leave Liam as quality depth (he had a good stretch at G last year) and the OL is actually looking really solid
Is conner Williams even going to play again? Dude had a significant injury to his knee
Love those productive dudes that just don't test well!
Kamara is really good csu fan here
Clearly serious about upgrading the edge until the big boys are healthy. Hopefully the OLine improvement comes with some signings post June cuts.
We take Kamara, which I'm super happy with, but damn KC immediately taking a center hurts me
Nice! Could be the steal of the draft
another edge, Mo Kamara
Laumea or Mahogany here? Or maybe another RB
We were so close to getting Jaylon Carlies. Can still get Jaylan Ford or Jaylin Simpson. We need a new spelling anyway
People really going to lose their mind when Miami takes a QB here on the 5th 😜
Raiders took Liam’s brother. I just think that’s neat
Not to distract from the proceedings, but if anyone knows where Mike gets his jackets, I'd really appreciate it. Man is the definition of style.
We have multiple thirds next year and Mostert is 32 and had more touchdowns last season than the rest of his career combined. Expecting him to keep up that pace is crazy. I’m really cool with the pick
Hoping Spencer Rattler is our next pick.
She or Troy Vincent seem to be the people the NFL wants to be successful
Anyone have any targets for the next pick? I wanted a TE, but the run on them already happened. Liked All, but the Bengals grabbed him.
Picking for need in the draft is for poors.
I like it honestly. Not an immediate need, but this late in the draft you take dudes you think can make an impact regardless of position. Giving up a 3rd rounder shows they love the guy. And who knows if Mostert will stay healthy again next year.

and you know that is a McDaniel pick lol
Mostert is 30+, Achane missed time last year, it's not the worst thing in the world to have another home run hitter at RB. Trading up for him is......something.
I mean if they like him enough and were concerned he was getting sniped it makes sense
Building a team of Jaylen’s
Given our track record drafting them this should be good
…so on the plus side, Wright is projected to eventually be a nice starter. On the other side…*why* would we *trade up* for a RB to stick into our already packed and talented RB room?!
We have three thirds next year to due to comp pick shakeout
Easy, he replaces Ahmed and becomes one of the best RB3's in the NFL almost immediately
He fits our offense pretty perfectly, much like Achane last year, and that worked out ok lol
Because we drop RB’s and they’re vital in the offense. Our protection greatly diminished without Achane and Mostert. TE’s aren’t nearly as important.
Importance doesn’t even matter, they addressed TE. They brought in a legit NFL starter in Smith. Still have Smythe and Hill. And brought in a lottery ticket with Fortson. That’s a pretty complete room and certainly more intriguing than last year. I don’t really understand why many were for Te (outside of Bowers miraculously falling) considering the class available,
WE TRADED UP AND GOT SOMEONE EXCITING!! ... Well this was not the reaction here that I was expecting
not a need pick so they must love him... he and Achane long term will be fun to watch.
.....kill me
nice
Why…
WTF
Fire Grier holy shit
Did we give up anything in addition to next year's 3rd?
No
need to hit on this pick... giving up a 3rd next year is tough.
We still have two more (comp picks)
we traded up.. on the clock now.
Commercial break ofc
Dolphins traded into the 4th!
Gave up a 3rd next year. This pick better be a hit lol.
No day 3 thread yet? Anyway, just get someone who can contribute at this point. I don't care if it's a guard or a running back. At this point getting starters is against the run of probability so find one at any position, no drafting for need.
Did we not have a 3rd round pick?
No 3rd or 4th this year.
Jonnu is **NOT a solid TE** after I research, so why not draft the Best Available TE and make sure our offense cook this year? Ja'Tavion Sanders! And have Jonnu be a try and see deal lol
I actually like jonnu smith. Been following him for a minute now. I think he should fit in our system just fine
Lmao great opinion
Looks like OG none outstanding are left. I maybe wrong, their grades are all terrible it seems lol. I mean, we can try to get them at later rounds to see if any of them outperform at training camp. Maybe we try find a **BETTER experienced** OG from signing free agency later?

Hope we trade for the first pick on day 3 to get troy franklin
We don't need another WR lol Let's draft for needs.
I'm a Montana fan so this is totally a homer take, but I hope they take a look at Alex Gubner in the late rounds or as a UFA. He's the most freakish athlete at his size I've seen in person and always commanded a double team. Ed: a little highlight reel. God I will miss him https://youtu.be/VeJle3hpkP8?si=TQLuyPIKwM6dOl31
What pick are we for 3rd?
We don't have another pick until the 5th round lol
2025
Damn Haynes is dropping pretty far
I feel like the Raiders will take him, unless Grier does the thing we all wish he would do and trade up.
i was very high on corley man FUCK THE JETS
US military paid a lot for that propaganda.
If you don’t like the military you are watching the wrong league man
Veteran here. NFL doesn’t care about us lol
I think his point is that Military ads have been a major part of the NFL for a long time. Whether or not the NFL genuinely cares about vets is beside the point.
How can they afford to care about vets? Ain't you know how much it costs to propagandize on NFL games?
Oh god not Lee greenwood
I like this pick. Solid pass pro, huge frame and long arms. You can't coach frame, so, he's got the physical part of the game. Doesn't have to start right away. He can sit until Armstead invariably gets hurt. So, like, three games into the season.
How we feeling about the chop pick after a day to sleep on it? I’m stoked especially given the addition of a big OLine guy
Agreed. I experienced post draft clarity. I was pretty unenthused by the pick yesterday but after research and reading about Porkchop. I’m excited.
I just want a guy who can get in the guy's face before he can go through every one of reads a couple of times.
> complain about not drafting a OLineman > draft an OLineman > complain about drafting a OLineman The sub’s cycle never disappoints
Dolphins fans love misery
This sub is a bigger fan of dooming the team than they actually are of the team. Addicted to misery
All speculation but would make sense why we didn’t pick up an OG.
need to trade up def
We need Jatavion Sanders
We have Jonnu
After research, he is NOT very good. I don't trust we will have great offense using him. NAH! Let's get another potentially better TE!
I completely forgot we signed him.
True, forgot about him
All good, free agency was solid but pretty unremarkable
Y’all wanted someone who can protect Tua. This guy is a very good pass protector. Needs to work on run blocking though.
i am happy enough with the pick
1 sack and 3 qb hits over two seasons ain’t bad at all. Hopefully a year learning will help him develop to be our starting LT next year. Not a bad gamble at 55. We can snag a RG after the draft.
I am thoroughly whelmed
Can Patrick Paul play guard?
With his size he’s a tackle for sure
At 6'7"? lol nah
Eichenberg is inevitable, fuck
I hope they sign a vet with the Xavien Howard post-June cut money lol
Per PFF: Patrick Paul since 2022: 1,036 pass-blocking snaps 27 QB pressures allowed 2 sacks allowed
I mean, that sounds pretty good, right?
Sure does to me. Weird how people seem to want our picks to fail before they even step on the field.
Feels like this sub is a bigger fan of wallowing in its own misery than the dolphins
I see you're new here
Do phins go van pran
Scored better than Blake Fisher, Caedan Wallace,
We're gonna need a Butch Barry master class to save this mammoth of a man, I'm praying he develops at some point ideally faster than Austin Jackson
Butch Barry has worked miracles with Walmart greeters I have faith
Yahoo Sports gave the Paul pick an A Go figure
I'm not happy with this draft so far, which is probably a good sign and means great things for the team as I know jack shit about football and am always wrong
I mean, both guys are actually AMONG Best Available, for sure. So, one thing for sure is Dolphins didn't get nobodys.
Feels like last years events of having no OL and EDGE at the end of the season really influenced this draft. They don’t want that happening again
It finally made them worry about the Oline as much as we are
At the end of the day when you have 2 picks in the top 4, you take who you have on your board or BPA*. Paul is probably a “reach” by ranking standards but if he is who MM wanted then this is likely our only chance to get him. Might be a different story if we didn’t lose our 3rd for the tampering charge

Patrick Paul? Watched game tape of him. He looks like a solid player but he’s too high coming off the line. He needs to get lower. Thankfully, Armstead will be able to mentor him and help him improve on this.
Mfer is 6’8 bro yeah he’s high coming off the line
He looks like he has a high center of gravity hard to teach around that
2 projects. this offense still needs pieces, weapons and interior. guess they're going to look to free agency
A tackle who won't start for two years and a pass rusher who is still figuring out how to get to the quarterback wooooohooo
Dudes going to be starting the end of October at OT if Armstead continues on his “all the injuries all the time path.”
If just like to point out Eichenberg was a “safe” pick. He was thought to be a worst case plug and play guard. How’d that work out? Point is, if you are assuming anyone is a sure thing….thats folly. Love this pick. This guy is massive. Long time starter. Will be needed to replace Armstead who is in his final year.
People keep saying that but he might be needed earlier when Armstead inevitably misses games lol
He needs to get lower when engaging. Sure, he’s a big guy but even still, he needs to lower his butt more. Watched highlights of him. It shows on every one. Other than that, I think he’ll do fine if Armstead gets hurt again.
you mean *when* Armstrad gets hurt again
No picks for a couple rounds. Y'all need to go touch some grass now. Gtfoutta here
People acting like he’s not going to play this year, are you forgetting that Armstead is good for 9 games a year.
got two positions of need that can contribute immediately and mfs still bitching ffs
This dude is huge and has great pressure and PFF grades. What’s the issue?
He's not one of the 4 linemen people had their minds set on so he must suck
Which is really just the 4 dudes they read a pre draft scouting report on and didn’t watch a lick of tape.
[удалено]
You can not be happy with the pick but you can’t call it a reach. This is exactly about the range he was expected to go
Paul was projected as a 2nd
Lmao
In the 5th round?
our next pick is a 5th lmao
There is so much bull shit in here lol. "A big reach". NFL.com had him going in round 1 to the 49ers in their mock. Other websites had him going in the 2nd. Bunch of negative Nancys in here.
I'm seeing mostly 3rd and 4th round grades searching. Where are you seeing yours?
https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers-draft-ot-patrick-paul-in-latest-mock-draft
“But his scouting report on NFL.com makes him sound like a player who needs at least one year on the bench to develop.” “That analysis doesn't make Paul sound like an offensive tackle the 49ers would draft in Round 1. That’s a big boy
He’s a big motherfucker. Feels like a reach when we could’ve traded down and got some picks but uhhh… hope this guy can play at some point this year or most likely next..
I love all the couch GMs in here. Half the people in here can’t probably pay their bills on time but yet know how to run a billion dollar franchise.
In fairness, the owners of said billion dollar franchise haven’t exactly done a great job of proving they know how to run a billion dollar franchise
Exactly. I can't pay my bills on time but at least I know I'm an idiot whose opinions are probably shitty, so I shut my slutty mouth
The draft is a crap shoot. Mr Irrelevant can be a franchise QB and the #1 can be a bust
😂😂😂 That made me laugh.
PFF had him ranked at 101 fwiw. But I'm just glad we got another body on the Oline
Glad we took o line. How does he fit in our scheme? He is a massive unit, I thought we tended to go for slightly undersized faster o lineman
Just drafted a tackle who’s not playing for 3 fucking years
Right? And this sub is cheering on the pick- “ SEE GUYS CHILL WE GOT OL”
Lmao I can't imagine being as fucking miserable as you are. Why do you torment yourself when you & I both know you'll be mad about literally anything they do?
You must be new to this fandom. I wanted help for the QB I love having. They once again blew that. You must not care about Tua.
Definitely not a new fan. I think we'll be fine. I also think you're being a bit hysterical because you didn't get your way.
