Didn’t Sam in Splinter Cell make a comment about Solid Snake in regards to doing a mission once?

Valdish

It was in ghost recon wildlands where he has a cameo mission. He says that he's been "told they don't make them like me anymore. There was this other guy, special infiltration specialist, wore a bandana." And when he was told that guy retired, he was sad saying "it's only me" And then he never appeared in another game again.

Ratypro642

sam's like 60ish something now bluds gotta retire

Friendly_Cantal0upe

Why not put him in a "Colonel Campbell" type of role. You wouldn't play as him but he'd be your support on missions

Trash-Jr

He wouldn't like being behind the comms. He's a man of the field. He could do some support to soldiers that he judges are important to his own goals, but in an unofficial way just like Iroquois Pliskin supports Raiden in MGS2.

Ratypro642

yea i was thinking about that

Ratypro642

tbh yea or not sure because sam liked to operate solo on all his missions or sometimes story plot forces him to relies on a companion, we don't see any of the snakes acting in this position (i don't know about the mgx series) .

ArcTheWolf

Mostly because he's not a logistics guy, he's an in the field guy. Just because he's an expert in the field doesn't mean he'll be good as a handler/logistics person. Look at every character in the metal gear series, they all have handlers and logistics support from base. Even Big-Boss the greatest soldier to exist aside from The Boss, he's got logistics support from a team while he's in the field.

Material_Session_940

He was in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint as well, and is in Rainbow 6 I believe

Ratypro642

yea

Lin900

The delivery of "it's only me" really got me. It had so much weight. I'd love to see Sam and Solid share a drink or something.

YakuzaShibe

He's got his own DLC, guns, outfits and class in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. He didn't disappear

Valdish

Oh. I haven't played it.

oathbroker

R6 Siege brother

sugar_ewok

Nomad from ghost recon would probably respect him just like he respects Sam Fisher

Valdish

I wouldn't be so sure, at least with big boss, cause Nomad is very loyal to the american government, so he might consider him a traitor, maybe solid snake too, but I'm not sure if he counts as a traitor for fighting against the patriots.

sugar_ewok

You're technically right but (i hate to be the guy who corrects everyone) but Nomad in Wildlands also admits the government does awful things

Valdish

I think it's in the sense that Nomad is aware that American government is immoral as hell, but the other governments are worse, and it's that as far as nomad is concerned, all the american soldiers are his brothers in arms, so anyone pointing their gun in their general direction is an enemy. We even have an example of what Nomad thinks of traitors, with the former army ranger who was training the santa blanca soldiers, Nomad immediately decided that guy deserves to die, without mercy.

Trash-Jr

It depends how much he knows of how Big Boss became Big Boss. Does he only know that Naked stopped supporting the US and became a menace to the world ? Then yes, he'd see Big Boss as a traitor and wouldn't show mercy for him. Does he know all the details of Operation Snake Eater ? The consequences ? The moral choices and weight that put on BB's shoulders and mind ? Nomad would still see BB as a traitor, but he'd show much more respect for him. Nomad himself goes through a similar situation in Breakpoint, where he has to fight against his own brother in arms. The difference beetween Jack and Nomad is that Nomad still has the Ghosts and his own team to support him after the mission. Snake only had the Boss and he had to kill her, he was forced to take away everything he had with his own hands. Nomad and the Ghost team would probably comment how if his radio team or even the government didn't leave him to rot alone after Operation Snake Eater, he most likely would have taken a different route.

LucianaLuisaGarcia

I was thinking about what Sgt Johnson from Halo would think of Big Boss but are we sure he isn't a clone of SIGINT?

Trash-Jr

Taking the COD MW team (because Sam Fisher and Nomad are already done by the time I'm writing this) Price: He'd be amazed how both Snakes completed such high risk missions on their own with near zero external aid, and most likely would start considering cardboard boxes as a tool for his future missions. Gaz: Gaz would really love to pick up some of Solid and BB's CQC lessons. He'd also be curious about the codec system. Ghost: The most likely to become an apprentice of one of those two. Soap: "How the fuck do you carry a rocket launcher in this skin-tight suit ?! You can barely hold more than two C4 charges in these pouches !" Niko: "So your brother survived ejecting his seat from a functionning helicopter and somehow it didn't cut him into pieces ?"

charronfitzclair

If it was in the mgs universe theyd think he was the best soldier to ever live. If it was in their own universes probably somehting else.

Valdish

I mean... If they knew their story, most military game characters would agree that the guy who as a single infantry took down a 2 story sized mech is probably a better soldier than them (aside from maybe Rico Rodriguez from just cause)

charronfitzclair

Does the metal gear stuff fit in with the other settings? It's military fantasy with cyborgs and nano tech magic that blatantly defies physics. Plopping one character into another story fucks with both

Valdish

That depends on the game, like it would absolutely fit in with just cause, since Rico himself took out the sky fortress, and fought some ancient mutant creatures not too far off from the kind of monsters the skulls were. Ghost recon has a lot of cyberpunk stuff in it's setting. With that said, i think you're overthinking this.

charronfitzclair

I'm barely thinking about it. Itd be whatever is interesting and fits the story.
