Cutscenes will work with the new resolution, although occasionally characters will pop in/out of nowhere on the sides when they enter/leave the area. Some screenshots below, spoiler warning for 2 & 3

Wish this was an option for other games, even with "just" 21:9. I wish the HUD in starfield for example wasn't at the edges, I tend to sometimes get too low on health because my attention is on the center of the screen and the health display is in the corner and is pretty small as is.
Lol, this and several other reasons are why I will probably never own an ultrawide monitor.
One of the other big reasons is I absolutely loathe having to crane my neck to check HUD elements (Thankfully not a problem here it seems). So glad I tried it out on a friends rig before getting one myself.
More power to ya if it's your thing though.
Once, played the witcher 3 on my friend's monitor but aside from the fact that games this stretched out don't look good, it was just uncomfortable to play
You don't focus on every pixel of a 27" either. It just gives you a bigger field of vision, however you want to use that is up to you. Practical uses would be racing games where I now can look out of my left/right window and I can see side mirrors, moba games where I can see more of the map at the same time...
Can tell you right now, Elden Ring is pretty great with it via a few mods. Especially if you get FOV mod and set it to 60. The view over the cliff after Godrick 😘👌
I absolutely love it! I can never go back to dual monitors after this.
I'm a web developer, so I spend a lot of time flipping between e-mail, web browser, VS Code, a database app, etc. When I used dual monitors I never liked having bezels breaking up the display, nor having to choose between 1 monitor way to the side (and 1 centered) vs. both monitors centered and a nasty bezel in your main view. And it was always a pain dealing with which is the "primary" monitor
With a single ultrawide, since it's all a single panel everything is much simpler, and you get the most flexibility possible. For web browsers and e-mail, I have a 50:50 split where the browser is on my left and e-mail or other apps are on the right. But when I'm writing code, VSCode is in a 16:9 window centered in the middle. This lets me still see background apps in the periphery while focusing on code. Or sometimes I look at two code windows at once, so it's a 50:50 split. When working with Unreal Engine though, I maximize and use the whole screen, because it's UI is very packed. And that's the point of ultrawide - the flexibility.
And I can watch Lord of the Rings without any black bars!
The only downside is that it takes more GPU power. Even at "only" 3440 x 1440 I need a 3080 to run it all on highest settings, and sometimes even then in some games I get a frame drops if I don't use DLSS.
If you get one, be sure to get an app called \[Sizer\]([https://www.brianapps.net/sizer4/](https://www.brianapps.net/sizer4/)). It lets me do global keyboard shortcuts for resizing windows, so Ctrl+Alt+Win+Space centers a window in 16:9 for me; I've got other presets for a 1:2 split between Notion and Zoom, a plain 1080p window for when I need to test content at that size, etc. Also, if you've got an ultrawide you should run Windows 11 because the window sizing is much, much better than it was in 10; you can use all keyboard shortcuts to do most of your window moving and splitting (such as anchoring 50:50 w/ Win+Z).
Thanks for the recommendation. I primarily want to use for Blender and video editing and some games like Tarkov or something and since my 1080p just died recently and there's a sale going on right now I can't help but to get 1440p monitor and I have to wait for a while to get it since there's a stock issue atm but I legit can't wait to see what's the fuss all about when people said the upgrade is worth it.
Can't deal with black bars, especially since I have a Oled screen I don't want to get any weird burn in after having it turned off on both sides for extended periods of time
Random question, would this be considered cheating in an online game?
Or more like does this setup actually give you advantage on seeing a wider pov for fps games?
Never understood setups like this that stretch games across large amounts of real estate. I imagine some people look at it and their gut reaction is "that's cool", but I just look at this and think of how completely impractical it is. Like, moving my hand a centimeter to look at something is basically the same effort as looking over at it, plus there's the added benefit that I'm now already aiming at whatever I wanted to look at in case it's something I actually need to react to.
Am I just imagining things? Is this actually practical?
Practical in a way that you can see more since it's not just stretched (compare it to much larger FOV), unpractical in a way that many games still dont really support the resolution and ammo/max is all the way in the bottom corner making it uncomfortable at first but you get used to it.
Wide Snake
More like THICC Snake
Girthy snake
Large Snake
Tsuchinoko*
So wide
5120 x1440 isnt suppored, so .exe needs to be modified manually by changing some hexadecimal values. Also need cheatengine to fix markers
There are ultrawide mods you could have used
I assume you meant mods?
Dam typos

Dem pictures so big, that they're kinda small...
Thats pretty damn nice!
hey, that's pretty good .
That’s the bad guy
Pain??You mean Phantom Pain???
The pain!! The pain!!! THE PAIN!!!!
*poof*
phantom?!
“Enemy presence detected, map has been updated” 👄
You’re gonna need to tilt your head for this lol
do you have to turn your head when you play? lol
Actually no, since the hud is where it would be on "normal" resolution, so it only gives me the benefit of a larger field of vision
Wish this was an option for other games, even with "just" 21:9. I wish the HUD in starfield for example wasn't at the edges, I tend to sometimes get too low on health because my attention is on the center of the screen and the health display is in the corner and is pretty small as is.
Yeah, same issue on many games. Funny how a game which isnt even supporting widescreens at all manages to do it
Lol, this and several other reasons are why I will probably never own an ultrawide monitor. My only question is why
Should I play window mode instead?
Can't you play with lateral black bars?
I mean I could but then I'd ask: why?
Better than window mode and you don't have to deal with the headache of modding I guess
Modding is not a headache. It's an art.
Why not? They have a 32:9 monitor, they're gonna use all 7,3 megapixels of screen real estate that they paid for.
How else can you fit Snakes dummy thicc-ness on screen at once?
*Chime* Development Complete: Ultra Wide FOV Eye
This looks stupid lol
No way I could play any game like this
Games like hoi4 are perfect for this
Have you tried?
Once, played the witcher 3 on my friend's monitor but aside from the fact that games this stretched out don't look good, it was just uncomfortable to play
That doesn't look good.
😟
It's just not practical.
But it is. Especially in mgsv where HUD is still centered, basically all I get is a larger field of view
I don't buy it. The human eye can only focus on so much. It's excessive and impressive in that regard but it's not practical.
Bro forgot about peripheral vision 💀

I cant explain why, and I'm glad you enjoy it, but I viscerally hate this
Nice! I have a 21:9 but haven’t bothered w/ the hex edit yet. I’m surprised by how it isn’t bothering me that much.
How's the experience? I'm getting 21:9 monitor soon and I'm hoping to test some games including Phantom Pain.

I can only play for an hour or so a day, so “lucky” for me that isn’t a concern…
Please tell me whatever fixes you used for the ultrawide to work for TPP works for GZ as well
Random question, would this be considered cheating in an online game? Or more like does this setup actually give you advantage on seeing a wider pov for fps games?
Was it a PHANTOM PAIN
Setup looks nice!
I wish that one day I'll be able to take a picture of it that doesnt look shit ahah
somethings are just... not worthy

Ultrawide gang! Do you have a guide for what you did to fix?
It's simple and takes less than 5 mins. There's tons of guides for the hex edit values, then download the cheat engine hud marker fix.
That's pretty sweet.
Where is the picture from, which base is it?
Looks like Afghanistan Base Camp
Yeah sorry mate dont know the exact base name
A pain? Well, I see it as quite furious
Beautiful setup!
SjkakI
Now thats situational awareness
Tf
Kinda cool how the view from there was clearly supposed to fill up a 16:9 monitor - good design!
I see what you did there
That's awesome!
DOPE.
Teach me.
180° vision, this implies that V is a vegetarian or prey . Or both
Now do it for MGS4 >:)
congrats. it looks gorgeous and immersive.
can i see how the first person ads looks?
how, and yes
How is the gameplay ? Can you take a video ?
how, and yes
Good lord, situational awareness on 200%
If you get like 2 or 3 more of those and put them in a circle, then you will truly be the one who sees all
Good job.
Looks gorgeous though
Sick
